The six sects unite to march on the Qingque Sect, determined to halt Qi Yunke’s catastrophic descent into madness. Qi has been cruelly using his own daughter, Qi Lingbo, as a vessel to refine the malevolent Ziwei Method. When Cai Zhao and Mu Qingyan locate her in the secret chamber, they find her barely alive.
Mu Qingyan confronts Qi regarding his contradictory treatment of Song Yuzhi, whom Qi claims to have raised for his own grand designs, but Mu exposes the truth: Qi views everyone around him merely as tools to be discarded. Qi Yunke’s treachery runs deep; he feigned poisoning to manipulate Cai Zhao into hunting for antidotes, using her efforts to facilitate his secret cultivation. As his facade collapses, it is revealed that he is the elusive man in black.
Mu Qingyan discloses that his father, the hero Chang, had long suspected the Qingque Sect’s corruption. To protect his son, Chang sent him to be raised by Qi, knowing that Qi’s singular focus on his "grand scheme" would make the sect the safest place for his child. Cai Zhao implores Qi to stop, reminding him of his past ties to her aunt, Cai Pingshu, but he is beyond reason.
He violently casts them aside, intent on draining the remainder of Qi Lingbo’s energy. Outside, the six sects storm the gates. Yang Xiaolan confronts her father, Yang Heying, to avenge her mother. When Yang Heying attempts to manipulate her with their blood ties, he tries to strike her down in secret, but Fan Xingjia intervenes, killing him to save her. Simultaneously, Song Yuzhi leads a campaign to purge his sect of traitors.
He confronts his treacherous brother, Song Xiuzhi, who attempts to usurp the sect leadership. The conflict ends in a fatal duel where Song Yuzhi kills his brother, while Uncle Li, overwhelmed by the weight of his guilt and complicity in Qi’s crimes, chooses to take his own life. Inside the chamber, Qi Yunke attempts to strike down Mu Qingyan, but a severely weakened Qi Lingbo shields him with her own life.
As Qi descends into a frantic, murderous rage, Mu Qingyan maneuvers to protect Cai Zhao. In the chaos, Cai Zhao manages to strike back at Qi, dealing him a fatal blow. The sudden injury brings Qi a brief moment of clarity. Overcome with remorse for harming Cai Zhao and hallucinating that she is Cai Pingshu come to guide him, he passes away, his obsessive quest finally at an end.
