Song Shijun stumbles out of the residence in a mindless frenzy, attacking everyone in his path. Seizing the opportunity, Yang Heying incites the crowd to retaliate, leading to a brutal assault on Shijun. Cai Zhao and Song Yuzhi desperately attempt to protect him, but they are overwhelmed. During the struggle, Yuzhi is struck by a hidden weapon coated in Purple Vine poison—a lethal toxin from the Blood Marsh Forest that seals the meridians and kills within two days.

Though they suspect Yuzhi’s brother might have an antidote, Cai Zhao realizes returning to the Guangtian Sect would be a death trap. With Song Shijun clearly under someone else's control, they flee toward the Blood Marsh Forest to find a cure. Meanwhile, Yang Heying continues his ruthless pursuit of Cai Zhao, acting as a pawn for a mysterious man in black.

Cai Pingchun and his wife arrive at the Guangtian Sect after being diverted by false reports, only to find that Pang Xiong has helped Shijun break through the blockade. Upon examining Shijun, Cai Pingchun discovers that someone has injected high-level inner power into him to mimic the effects of Puppet Gu, a condition that will eventually turn him into a living corpse.

Seeing no other choice, they take Shijun back to Luoying Valley to use specialized herbs to dissolve the poison. As the group nears the Blood Marsh Forest, they are cornered by Yang Heying’s men and the Siqi Sect’s curved blade formation. Just as the situation turns dire, Mu Qingyan arrives and repels the attackers. He then guides Cai Zhao, Fan Xingjia, and the poisoned Yuzhi through the forest's dense, poisonous fog.

That night, as the toxin spreads rapidly through Yuzhi’s body, Cai Zhao is forced to ask You Guanyue for medicine. Mu Qingyan allows it and, despite his silence toward Cai Zhao, he personally tends to her wounds. While observing Yuzhi’s injury, Cai Zhao notices the attacker was familiar with the Song family’s techniques, suggesting the betrayal came from an insider.

Determined to find the Night Orchid—the only plant capable of neutralizing the toxin—she ventures deeper into the forest the next morning. Mu Qingyan follows her, rescuing her from a hidden trap and covering her with his cloak after noticing the scars on her back. Using her knowledge of ancient Luoying Valley arrays, Cai Zhao successfully navigates the maze-like terrain. Deep within the forest, they encounter Granny Jiang, who mistakes them for Mu Zhengyang and Cai Pingshu.

She reveals that years ago, Pingshu and Zhengyang sought the Night Orchid, but Pingshu later returned alone and heartbroken, setting up protective arrays to keep others away. Granny Jiang explains the history of Cai Anning, a Luoying Valley ancestor who planted the Night Orchid to cure villagers, only to be labeled a demoness by outsiders driven by greed.

Cai Zhao successfully uses the Night Orchid to treat Yuzhi, but her relief turns to anger when she catches Mu Qingyan attempting to take the flower for himself. She realizes the Night Orchid is a vital medium for practicing the Ziwei Method, much like the items Mu Zhengyang once manipulated her aunt into finding.

Accusing him of being a "skin-painted demon" like his uncle, she attacks him, but Granny Jiang intervenes, noting that Mu Qingyan’s willingness to risk his life in the poisonous fog proves his true feelings. Meanwhile, the group discusses a dark possibility: Song Yuzhi’s brother, Song Xiuzhi, likely poisoned him to eliminate a rival for the position of Sect Master, harboring years of resentment over their father's blatant favoritism.
