Chang Yue and Qi Yuanbao were determined to uncover the truth behind recent events. Meanwhile, Xue Hanyu finished bandaging Su Qianqian's foot wound and carried her to a dilapidated temple to rest. Su Qianqian worried that Xue Hanyu would abandon her when he left to find food, but he reassured her. Huo Shuya found a kaleidoscope on the street, thinking Qi Yuanbao would like it, and decided to buy it for her.
Qi Yuanbao and Chang Yue found new accommodations with Su Qianqian's sister, who was plotting to relay Qi Yuanbao's location to Yunrong. That night, Chang Yue had a dream where Qi Yuanbao intimately called him "Master," which made him uncomfortable. This was caused by a sachet given to Su Qianqian's sister by a masked person to make Chang Yue fall in love with her. Su Qianqian's sister went to find Chang Yue, whose breathing became labored.
Qi Yuanbao, who was still awake, went to check on them. Chang Yue pulled Qi Yuanbao into his room, claiming to be ill and confessing that he was thinking about her. Qi Yuanbao reached out to touch Chang Yue's forehead, but he grabbed her hand. Embarrassed, Qi Yuanbao accused him of acting inappropriately, and Chang Yue sent her away. Concerned, Qi Yuanbao brought medicine to Chang Yue. He pulled her into an embrace and kissed her, leaving Qi Yuanbao flustered.
Su Qianqian's sister witnessed the encounter, and Qi Yuanbao hurried away, blushing. Chang Yue confided in his friend, who realized Chang Yue was falling in love with Qi Yuanbao. Qi Yuanbao, back in her room, replayed the kiss in her mind, smiling. Xue Hanyu planned to find Qi Yuanbao, but Su Qianqian insisted on following him, thwarting his attempts to lose her. Yunrong spotted them and had them kidnapped.
Wearing the black-clothed figure's mask, Yunrong interrogated them about Qi Yuanbao's whereabouts, while Xue Hanyu was worried that Yunrong intended to harm Qi Yuanbao. Waking up, Chang Yue found a fox clan sachet under his pillow and wondered how it got there. At breakfast, Chang Yue and Qi Yuanbao were awkward around each other. Yunrong threatened Xue Hanyu, demanding to know where to find Qi Yuanbao.
To protect Xue Hanyu, Su Qianqian revealed they could use a flute to signal Qi Yuanbao. Yunrong played the flute, hoping to lure her. Qi Yuanbao, nearing their location, realized Xue Hanyu had been leaving her markings along the way. Suspecting a trap and that Xue Hanyu had been captured, Qi Yuanbao went to rescue them, finding Xue Hanyu and Su Qianqian tied up.
Knowing that Yunrong was after her life, Qi Yuanbao offered herself in exchange for Xue Hanyu and Su Qianqian. Xue Hanyu, pulled away by Su Qianqian, remained concerned for Qi Yuanbao’s safety. As Qi Yuanbao fought Yunrong, Xue Hanyu and Su Qianqian returned to help because Qi Yuanbao wanted them to get reinforcements. Xue Hanyu was struck by Yunrong, drawing blood. Then, Chang Yue arrived, and a light emanated from Qi Yuanbao's chest, causing her to collapse into Chang Yue's arms.
