Dear Mr. Heavenly Fox Episode 4 Recap
> Dear Mr. Heavenly Fox Recap
As Changyue and Qi Yuanbao hid together in close proximity, still a bit awkward from their earlier encounter, they inadvertently stumbled into a secret chamber. Inside, Qi Yuanbao, curious about the place, wondered if it was a legendary chamber left by the Qishan Sect's ancestors. Changyue was amazed by the numerous treasures within. Qi Yuanbao discovered an Obedience Talisman and pondered if she could use it to compel her father to reveal the truth about her mother's death.
She then found memorial tablets for her mother, grandfather, and uncle, deeply unsettling her as she questioned why they were kept there. Her eyes then fell upon a painting, recognizing it instantly as her mother. Overcome with emotion and longing, Qi Yuanbao reached out to touch the painting. This triggered a hidden mechanism, sending a volley of arrows from all directions. Changyue quickly pulled her to safety, asking if she was alright.
He deduced it was a forbidden area set up by her father, likely to protect something beyond the painting. Despite the danger, Qi Yuanbao was resolute, believing whatever was hidden might hold the key to her mother's demise. Behind the painting, Qi Yuanbao discovered a jade pendant. As she touched it, a fragmented memory flashed before her eyes: she saw her mother and another person wearing a mask.
However, before she could clearly discern the masked figure's face, a sudden sharp pain seized her chest. Witnessing her distress, Changyue insisted they leave the dangerous chamber. Upon exiting, they were confronted by Qi Yuanbao's father, who had been alerted to a trespasser in the forbidden grounds and was surprised to find his daughter and Changyue. He immediately demanded the jade pendant, which Qi Yuanbao held, claiming it was of no benefit to her.
Qi Yuanbao refused to hand it over, pressing him for answers about the pendant and the secrets he was keeping regarding her mother's death. Her father dismissively stated she had no need to know the circumstances of her mother's death. When she questioned if the jade pendant was connected to her mother's passing, he reiterated his demand, threatening her with family punishment. Qi Yuanbao defiantly refused, challenging him to "kill me today" if he wouldn't reveal the truth.
Changyue intervened, reminding Qi Yuanbao's father that physical wounds heal, but emotional ones do not. Unyielding, Qi Yuanbao's father ordered his guards to take her to Jingsi Cliff. Later, Qi Yuanbao was plagued by a nightmare, reliving a horrific scene where her mother was killed by her father. She woke up in terror, distraught and desperate to understand why her father would commit such an act. Her father, Qilian, overheard her cries.
Alone, he spoke to his deceased wife, Yuying, admitting he had promised to protect Yuanbao from the truth. However, with Yuanbao's persistent nature and her possession of the Tianji Pendant, he feared he could not keep it hidden much longer. Changyue, in his little fox form, visited Qi Yuanbao, offering silent companionship.
Qi Yuanbao confided in him, reminiscing about her childhood when her mother made fennel dumplings that she and her father cherished as the "best dumplings in the whole world." She yearned for her father to explain things to her, believing she would trust any reason he gave. Changyue, while listening, internally considered finding another opportunity for emotional cultivation with Qi Yuanbao. Qi Yuanbao noticed the little fox's injured leg and insisted on applying medicine, playfully remarking on their shared injuries.
Although the fox initially feigned toughness, he eventually admitted the wound still hurt a little. Qi Yuanbao then presented the fox with her homemade dumplings, proudly claiming they were delicious. Changyue, skeptical, found them to be "absolutely terrible" and "still raw." Qi Yuanbao then jokingly remarked that as a fox, he naturally preferred raw food, and offered him the rest of the dumplings. Changyue, however, politely declined.
As Qi Yuanbao drifted off to sleep, she mumbled about wanting candied hawthorn sticks, then listed a series of unusual cravings like grilled flatbread, lamb kidneys, tripe, pig lungs, and ox penis, much to Changyue's bewilderment. Changyue went to the market, procuring candied hawthorn sticks and other delicacies. Meanwhile, Huo Shuya woke Qi Yuanbao. Upon waking, she realized the little fox was gone and dared not mention its presence to anyone.
Changyue returned, intending to give Qi Yuanbao the snacks, but seeing her with Huo Shuya, he quietly left and later shared the food with a friend. Even though Qi Yuanbao currently possessed no spiritual power, there were still those who regarded her with apprehension. Elsewhere, a Master and his subordinate discussed Qi Yuanbao's conflict with her father, Qilian, after she entered the secret chamber.
The subordinate reported the father and daughter were at "complete odds" and predicted Qilian would soon expel Qi Yuanbao from the mountain. Noting the exodus of cultivators from Qishan Gate, the Master planned to return to Suyun City, instructing his subordinate to send a team with Huo Chen to Fragment Moon Mountain and to find "Shen Shen" to stay in Northern Xuan City to monitor Qi Yuanbao. Separately, Sun Qianqian complained to her sister about the boredom of Qishan Gate.
Her sister then declared her intention to stay in Northern Xuan City, claiming a desire for sightseeing. Sun Qianqian teased her, suggesting her real reason was a fondness for Changyue. Qi Yuanbao, holding the jade pendant from the forbidden chamber, contemplated its mysteries, the masked figure from her memory, their connection to her mother, and the meaning of her mother's last words. She also worried about the little fox, who had not returned.
She then witnessed Changyue skillfully using a freezing spell on a group of people, marveling at its "extraordinary" power. Realizing such a spell would make leaving the mountain "a piece of cake," she eagerly approached Changyue, asking him to teach her. Changyue, still bothered by seeing her with Huo Shuya the previous day, felt a pang of jealousy. Despite his feelings, Qi Yuanbao pleaded with him, calling him "Master." Changyue, acknowledging her rare enthusiasm for learning, praised her adaptable nature and agreed to teach her, promising that with diligent study, she would master the freezing spell within a year.
