After Xue Hanyu's persistent efforts, he finally located Changyue's residence. Qi Yuanbao and Xue Hanyu quickly went there. Upon arrival, Qi Yuanbao rushed into Changyue's room, finding him tending to a serious chest wound. She was initially warm towards him, but Changyue's cold demeanor angered her, leading her to express her dislike for him leaving without a word, comparing him to a pet she would miss, and then she abruptly left.
Changyue was left feeling that in Qi Yuanbao's heart, he was no more significant than a pet. Qi Yuanbao reflected on the kiss they shared the previous day, wondering if Changyue was upset about it due to his seemingly traditional and pure nature. She believed, however, that he had reciprocated the kiss. Despite this, she decided to demonstrate her feelings for him through actions by sending him food.
The innkeeper mentioned that Changyue had booked a room for a month, but Qi Yuanbao dismissed it. Returning home, Qi Yuanbao encountered Huo Shuyai, who had prepared her favorite food, hoping to share a meal. However, Qi Yuanbao declined, stating she was already full from eating with Xue Hanyu. He recalled his own arduous journey to retrieve the medicinal herb to save Qi Yuanbao and felt deeply unappreciated, believing Qi Yuanbao was now enchanted by the fox demon and prioritising it over their long-standing relationship. He feared for Qi Yuanbao's innocence, knowing fox demons were adept at deception. News of Qi Yuanbao's recovery had spread after Sun Qianqian's sister, Meng Shu, informed others.
Her father decided to host a banquet to formally thank Huo Shuyai for his life-saving efforts, and Qi Yuanbao resolved to buy him a gift. Huo Shuyai later presented the fox fur he found to Qi Yuanbao's father, expressing his concerns about Qi Yuanbao's involvement with a fox demon. Qi Yuanbao's father, surprised by the fur, promised to investigate, while Huo Shuyai formulated a plan to deal with Changyue.
Qi Yuanbao, eager to find a suitable gift for Huo Shuyai, sought Changyue's help while shopping. As Qi Yuanbao presented her gifts, she gave Huo Shuyai the dagger, thanking him for retrieving the purple scaled fruit for her from Jade Peach Snow Mountain, an act she vividly remembered, stating she would have died without it. Huo Shuyai graciously accepted, reaffirming his dedication to her, stating he would willingly face death to save her. Other guests commented on their deep childhood bond, leading Changyue to a disheartening realization that Qi Yuanbao's efforts were all for Huo Shuyai.
Xue Hanyu then announced a second gift. To Qi Yuanbao's dismay, she realized she had accidentally swapped the gifts, presenting Huo Shuyai with the blue outfit meant for Changyue. Huo Shuyai, unaware of the mix-up, expressed his joy over the outfit, saying he truly loved it. Guests commented that women giving clothes to lovers showed deep affection. This left Changyue even more disheartened, while Xue Hanyu playfully chided Qi Yuanbao for her carelessness, leading to another playful argument between them.
Huo Shuyai, oblivious to the underlying tension and the mix-up, excused himself to try on the new clothes, unaware that his attendant was finalizing a sinister plot against Changyue, ensuring he "will come but not leave." Huo Shuyai later returned, wearing the blue outfit, reiterating his fondness for it, much to Qi Yuanbao's lingering disappointment.
