Synopsis
In the once-prosperous state-owned Xuri Factory, a woman's corpse with a severed foot is unexpectedly discovered in an abandoned sewage pool. The victim is identified as Shen Xiaozhou, the daughter of a factory worker. Lian Haiping, a middle-aged detective who appears indifferent on the outside but is passionate within, and Shi Qiangfeng, a hot-headed rookie officer, are unexpectedly partnered on the case. Although the two clash frequently, they must cooperate to find the true culprit.
As more suspects enter the picture, they realize that behind the seemingly innocent victim—an angelic university student—lie layers of complex and unexpected societal realities. At the same time, an old case from the past, deeply connected to both men, gradually resurfaces. The relationship between Lian Haiping and Shi Qiangfeng grows increasingly complicated due to “a past case” and “a buried memory.”
While the current murder case remains unsolved, similar cases involving severed feet begin to occur one after another, casting a dark shadow over the once vibrant Xuri Factory. Lian Haiping becomes aware that a hidden force is deliberately manipulating the police investigation. Just as the truth seems within reach, the undercurrents that have long been surging beneath the surface begin to rise.
