Be Passionately in Love Episode 23 Recap
> Be Passionately in Love Recap
Xu Zhi’s father injured his leg, so Xu Zhi and the others hurried over. Cai Yingying’s father said that Xu Zhi’s father wasn’t injured on his way to work, so it couldn’t be considered a work-related injury—he had gone all the way to Songbai Road. Director Wei knew that Xu Zhi’s father had gone there to buy books for Wei Lin. Xu Zhi felt uneasy after hearing that, and Chen Luzhou asked her what was wrong.
Cai Yingying said her father used to buy her sugar pancakes from Songbai Road, and since her mother didn’t allow her to eat them, he would tell her to finish them before her mother got off work. But now, her father went to Songbai Road for someone else, not for her. Chen Luzhou said he would buy them for Xu Zhi from now on.
Fu Yuqing came to see Xu Zhi’s father, and Xu Zhi’s father said that Chen Luzhou was his son. Fu Yuqing arranged to meet with Chen Luzhou’s mother and admitted that the past incidents were all his fault—he wanted to make it up to them. Chen Luzhou’s mother asked how Fu Yuqing intended to make it up to them. Fu Yuqing said he wanted to give the mountain estate to Chen Luzhou—whatever he had, he would give to him.
Chen Luzhou’s mother said that Chen Luzhou was no longer a child; he had his own thoughts and judgment, and compensation wasn’t as simple as offering money. Fu Yuqing agreed with her. Since there was nothing else, Chen Luzhou’s mother said she would leave first. Fu Yuqing came again to see Xu Zhi’s father and also brought a red envelope for Chen Luzhou. Chen Luzhou didn’t want to accept it, but Xu Zhi’s father said there wasn’t any money inside.
The red envelopes that Cai Yingying’s father and the others had given to Chen Luzhou were all passed to Xu Zhi. Xu Zhi helped him open the envelope and found that Fu Yuqing had given two boxing gym tickets. Fu Yuqing told Xu Zhi’s father that one of the tickets was for Xu Zhi—when the time came, Chen Luzhou could bring Xu Zhi with him, and then he wouldn’t hit him too hard.
Xu Zhi asked Chen Luzhou what he thought. Chen Luzhou asked her if Fu Yuqing had been good to her. Xu Zhi said yes—when she was little and her parents were busy with work, Fu Yuqing was the one who played with her. He also taught her how to race. Later, when their family ran into trouble, those few years were tough, and it was also Fu Yuqing who helped them.
So she found it hard to believe that Fu Yuqing had once been that kind of person. Xu Zhi went to the library, and while she was away, Chen Luzhou went to find Fu Yuqing. Chen Luzhou said he would forgive Fu Yuqing, but not because he was his father—it was because he had been good to Xu Zhi. He didn’t want Xu Zhi to be caught in the middle and feel torn.
In the past, Fu Yuqing had been Xu Zhi’s uncle, and in the future, he would only ever be her uncle. Xu Zhi’s father cooked a lot of dishes. Chen Luzhou arrived late and brought some fruit for everyone. Xu Zhi’s father made a plate of Kung Pao Chicken and said Xu Zhi had told him that Chen Luzhou was allergic to peanuts, so from now on, they wouldn’t put peanuts in their Kung Pao Chicken.
Chen Luzhou was very touched. As Chen Luzhou returned home, he saw his mother waiting at the door. He asked why she had come. His mother said that since he never visited her, she had no choice but to come over. Before the new semester began, they should at least have a meal together. She asked him to take the groceries inside while she cooked, though her cooking wasn’t great. She brought up Fu Yuqing again.
Chen Luzhou said he had met with Fu Yuqing and, including on her behalf, beat him up so badly he was searching for his teeth all over the ground. When she found out that Chen Luzhou had refused the mountain estate from Fu Yuqing, his mother thought he was being foolish—even if he didn’t want it, he could have given it to Xu Zhi.
Chen Luzhou said that if they waited for her to cook, the sky would be bright by the time it was done, so he should cook instead. His mother asked when he learned how to cook. Chen Luzhou said he often cooked for his future father-in-law. Xu Zhi’s father was being discharged from the hospital, and Chen Luzhou and the others came to help.
