Be Passionately in Love Recap

Episode 1 Recap

The teacher told Xu Zhi that with her grades, staying here to attend Qing University would be a bit of a waste. Also, Tan Xu didn't do well in the exam, and the teacher asked Xu Zhi to try to talk to him. Xu Zhi went to look for Tan Xu, but he wasn’t home. Xu Zhi sent Tan Xu a message, asking him to have a proper talk tomorrow.

As Xu Zhi passed by a roadside house, she heard a woman shouting inside. The voice sounded very much like her mother's, so she leaned in to listen. Chen Luzhou saw Xu Zhi from the window and asked her to add him on WeChat. He said if she liked listening to people getting scolded so much, he’d save her a seat next time. Xu Zhi saw Chen Luzhou’s school uniform and realized he was also from No. 1 High School.

Chen Luzhou’s mother told him not to date too early, and that if he really wanted a girlfriend, he should bring her home to meet them. She asked him to change clothes because Professor Jiang had written him a recommendation letter, and they should go thank him. Chen Luzhou said he had just spent the previous night playing video games with Chen Xingqi.

His mother asked him to move back home, but Chen Luzhou replied, “Aren’t we planning to go abroad? Then why move back? ” After Xu Zhi returned home, her father asked how she did on the exam. Xu Zhi said it went pretty well and that she wanted to attend Qing University. Her father reminded her they had agreed on going to Beijing. Xu Zhi said Qing University was also a good choice.

Chen Luzhou asked Zhu Yangqi what was going on. Zhu Yangqi said Gu Yan had fabricated a story about her romance with Chen Luzhou, and when netizens found out it was fake, she came to him asking for Chen Luzhou’s home address, wanting to turn the fake relationship into a real one. Zhu Yangqi promised not to do something like that again. Xu Zhi lent her four-leaf clover necklace to Tan Xu and wanted to get it back.

She went with Cai Yingying to find Tan Xu. Tan Xu asked Xu Zhi if she came to laugh at him. Xu Zhi said the test was indeed difficult this time—many didn’t do well. She heard that even a potential top scorer missed a subject. Zhu Yangqi and the others overheard and commented that it seemed Xu Zhi didn’t know the subject Chen Luzhou missed was an elective module, and yet she was using that to comfort her little boyfriend.

Tan Xu gave Xu Zhi a cold attitude, saying now that she was going to a top university and he had to repeat a year, he was of no use to her anymore. Xu Zhi asked for her necklace back. Tan Xu took it off and threw it downstairs. Xu Zhi and the others quickly ran downstairs to look for it but couldn’t find it. Cai Yingying suggested it might be in a tree.

Xu Zhi knocked on Chen Luzhou’s door and asked him for help. Chen Luzhou and Zhu Yangqi helped and found the necklace in the tree. Xu Zhi offered to treat them to a meal, and Cai Yingying joked that they all had boyfriends already. They went out to eat. Xu Zhi planned to get along better with Chen Luzhou and figure out a way to meet his mother. Chen Luzhou came over to save a seat.

A little boy played rock-paper-scissors with him, and both lost. Then the boy’s father came over. The boy claimed that Chen Luzhou had kicked him. Xu Zhi walked over and said, “Looks like my brother’s shoe soles are very clean—if he had kicked you, there’d be footprints. ” The boy was embarrassed. Chen Luzhou had been saving the seat for an elderly person. The boy’s father realized his son had lied and quickly apologized.

Xu Zhi sent the recording to Chen Luzhou, saying her father worked in a hospital and met all kinds of people, so she had learned to keep evidence in case something happened. Chen Luzhou’s mother called and told him to meet Professor Jiang the next day. Chen Luzhou didn’t care which school he ended up at. He had accidentally overheard a conversation between his grandmother and father.

His grandmother said he was always scheming since he was little and urged his father to send him away. His father said he was already making arrangements and that of course there was a difference between one’s biological child and one who wasn’t. Chen Luzhou came to their home at the age of six—he thought that even a pet dog or cat would have known to be grateful by now.

To him, no matter where he went, he would still be alone. Xu Zhi couldn’t buy roasted sweet potatoes, and she was worried her grandmother would throw a fit when she got home. Chen Luzhou said someone had given him a bag of sweet potatoes a few days ago and offered them to her. He asked if Xu Zhi wanted to roast them at his place. Xu Zhi asked if that was okay, saying her home didn’t have a microwave.

Chen Luzhou said she was making that up. Xu Zhi insisted it was true—that the old lady believed microwaves gave off radiation and firmly forbade them from using one. Xu Zhi asked if Chen Luzhou could cook. He said he sometimes made instant noodles. Xu Zhi asked if his mother cooked for him, and Chen Luzhou asked if she wanted to freeload meals. Xu Zhi wanted to add him on WeChat, but Chen Luzhou said his phone was out of battery. The next second, his phone rang.

Episode 2 Recap

Xu Zhi returned home, and her grandmother hadn’t gone to sleep yet. Xu Zhi told her that if she wanted roasted sweet potatoes, she should say so earlier next time—not every time would there be a kind stranger willing to help roast them. Cai Yingying came over to see Xu Zhi and asked how things were going. Xu Zhi said she hadn’t met Chen Luzhou’s mother—they didn’t live together.

Xu Zhi suspected Chen Luzhou might be adopted, because she had heard his mother say, when he first came to their home, that if he were her biological child, she wouldn’t have said that. Cai Yingying thought maybe Xu Zhi was overthinking it, but Xu Zhi pointed out that everything Chen Luzhou owned had his name written on it.

That could either mean he was too narcissistic or that he had lived in a communal environment before, so he had to label everything. Cai Yingying asked how Xu Zhi planned to meet Chen Luzhou’s mother. Xu Zhi said she hadn’t even added him on WeChat yet. Xu Zhi’s mother had died in a car accident a few years ago, and she still didn’t know why that voice sounded so familiar.

Xu Zhi’s father said that since Xu Zhi had finished her exams, she should go out and have some fun. Xu Zhi replied that going out costs money, and what kind of family background did they even have. Cai Yingying came to Xu Zhi and said a few words, and Xu Zhi said she would go out with her for two days.

Chen Xingqi came to find Chen Luzhou, saying they wanted to go on a summer trip, but they needed an adult to come along, so he asked Chen Luzhou to join. Chen Luzhou said it would be 800 yuan per day, and with Zhu Yangqi, it would be another 500. Chen Xingqi agreed. As they were heading out, they ran into Tan Xu. Chen Luzhou avoided him.

Zhu Yangqi asked what was on Chen Luzhou’s mind—just now he looked like a mistress seeing the main partner. Chen Luzhou said he just didn’t want any direct conflict. Zhu Yangqi told Chen Luzhou that Xu Zhi’s boyfriend wasn’t simple—he had claimed to have depression and that a classmate had been bullying him, even showed a medical report and got the classmate expelled. But in fact, the report was fake. Chen Luzhou asked how Zhu Yangqi knew that.

Zhu Yangqi said he knew someone who had helped that classmate, and that’s what the classmate told him. Chen Xingqi went to the shop owner and said their water tasted awful—he wanted purified water. The shop owner said it was mountain spring water and that purified water wasn’t available there. Xu Zhi’s father was a good friend of the shop owner, and Xu Zhi and Cai Yingying had come to this place for fun, where they saw Chen Luzhou.

Xu Zhi asked Chen Luzhou where his parents were. Chen Luzhou said they hadn’t come. At that time, Cai Yingying asked Zhu Yangqi about it, and he had said that Chen Luzhou would bring family. Xu Zhi hadn’t expected that “family” referred to Chen Luzhou’s younger brother. Chen Xingqi refused to drink the mountain spring water and insisted that Chen Luzhou go down the mountain to buy some.

Chen Luzhou told Zhu Yangqi to message Cai Yingying and ask her and Xu Zhi to help borrow a car. Xu Zhi went down the mountain with Chen Luzhou. She said her phone was out of battery and borrowed a charger from him. Chen Luzhou handed her his phone and asked her to help open the navigation; the password was four ones. Xu Zhi asked why he didn’t use his birthday as the password.

Chen Luzhou replied that it was his birthday. Xu Zhi started talking about a movie, saying she really liked its symbolism. Chen Luzhou said that was later debunked—the flowerpot in the movie was just a prop. When they got to the bottom of the mountain, Chen Xingqi called Chen Luzhou, saying the food there was terrible and asked him to bring a dry pot bullfrog dish. Chen Luzhou refused unless they added more money.

Xu Zhi overheard and said there was a restaurant right there that sold it—it wouldn’t be much trouble to grab a portion. Tan Xu happened to be there too, and Xu Zhi said she would go over for a moment. Tan Xu asked what Xu Zhi meant now—weren’t they from different worlds? Xu Zhi said they were never really together.

Tan Xu asked what that meant—was it because he was repeating a year, or because Xu Zhi had found someone better? Hadn’t their relationship always been a silent mutual understanding? Xu Zhi said that Tan Xu didn’t have depression at all, and asked if he dared admit it—he was always trying to control her. Xu Zhi came back, and Chen Luzhou asked what had happened.

Xu Zhi said she had threatened Tan Xu and told him not to follow her anymore. Xu Zhi said she wanted to add Chen Luzhou on WeChat, and if there were any money-making opportunities in the future, they could do them together. Chen Luzhou agreed. Xu Zhi showed Chen Luzhou’s WeChat to Cai Yingying.

Cai Yingying said she would make a group chat—if they talked one-on-one, it would be awkward, but in a group chat, someone would always keep the conversation going. The next day, Zhu Yangqi realized his charger was missing and asked Chen Luzhou to lend him one. Chen Luzhou said he had already lent his charger to Xu Zhi. Zhu Yangqi said it was urgent and asked him to get it back.

Episode 3 Recap

Chen Luzhou messaged Xu Zhi. Xu Zhi said she had left the charger at the restaurant and would buy a new one for him. Zhu Yangqi thought Xu Zhi did it on purpose so she could see Chen Luzhou a few more times. Chen Luzhou felt differently about Xu Zhi—he just couldn’t say no to her.

Zhu Yangqi said the only thing different about Xu Zhi was that she had a boyfriend, and that Chen Luzhou liked the thrill of that. Chen Luzhou and Zhu Yangqi went out for breakfast. Zhu Yangqi said the weather was so nice—why not go for a walk? Chen Luzhou was fine with it. Zhu Yangqi didn’t want to bring Chen Xingqi along, and Chen Luzhou agreed. Xu Zhi and the boss came to find Chen Luzhou.

The boss asked if Chen Luzhou had done commercials before. Chen Luzhou said he had. When he was young, his mother had taken him to shoot a commercial. Many older kids found him cute and came to greet him. Xu Zhi said the boss had a job for him. Chen Luzhou said he did need money, but not to the extent of selling his looks.

Xu Zhi said the boss wanted him to shoot a promotional video for the tea garden. Chen Luzhou agreed. They arrived at the tea garden. Xu Zhi and Cai Yingying were the models. After sitting down to rest, the boss brought over water and asked Xu Zhi to bring a bottle to Chen Luzhou.

The boss said he owned the place and it was fine for the staff to take a break first, but Chen Luzhou stayed in the corner, saying he didn’t want to disrupt anyone's work. Zhu Yangqi and Chen Xingqi were painting. Chen Xingqi’s drawing was terrible. After a few comments from Zhu Yangqi, Chen Xingqi got angry and threw the painting off the edge. Just then, Xu Zhi and the others returned.

Cai Yingying wanted to take pictures there and was almost hit. Chen Luzhou told Chen Xingqi to apologize. Chen Xingqi refused, saying Zhu Yangqi bullied him first. Chen Luzhou said if he didn’t apologize, he should pack up and go home. Chen Xingqi ran off in anger. Cai Yingying thought Xu Zhi might be right—the two brothers really had very different personalities. Chen Luzhou called his mother.

She said Chen Xingqi admired him a lot, often went into his room and wore his clothes—just wanted to become like him. She also said it wasn’t easy for Chen Xingqi to do anything, and told Chen Luzhou not to be so harsh. Chen Luzhou replied, “So the weaker one is always right? ” His mother said she was busy and didn’t have time to listen to their drama. After the call, Xu Zhi had been following him.

Chen Luzhou asked how long she intended to eavesdrop. Xu Zhi said her mother was the same—never spoke nicely, but she couldn’t deny that her mother loved her. Chen Luzhou said sometimes people become family just for mutual benefit. When he was a child, he asked his mother whether what his grandmother said was true—that he was adopted to ward off misfortune for his younger brother.

His mother replied, if he wanted to stay with her forever, he had to listen to his grandma and dad. Because of the matter of going abroad, Chen Luzhou had a falling-out with his father, who kept preaching about gratitude. Xu Zhi took him somewhere on her motorcycle, picked a four-leaf clover for him, and said that now he shared in her luck. That evening, they all had dinner together. Zhu Yangqi asked Xu Zhi if she had a boyfriend.

Cai Yingying said it was her fault—she was afraid they wouldn’t agree to dinner, so she made something up. Xu Zhi said she wanted to meet Chen Luzhou’s mother. She didn’t know why, but her voice and tone were exactly like her own mother’s—she just wanted to see for herself. Chen Luzhou agreed to find an opportunity. The boss watched the video Chen Luzhou had shot and thought it was great, asking him to do the post-production as well.

Chen Luzhou agreed. When the boss found out Chen Luzhou was going abroad, he said development in China was going well—why go abroad? Xu Zhi overheard and said everyone had the right to make their own choices.

Episode 4 Recap

Xu Zhi chatted with the boss about Chen Luzhou and asked the boss to increase his pay. The boss said that the video looked so romantic, yet Xu Zhi kept talking about money. Xu Zhi replied that he had promised to increase the pay, and she had to keep an eye on him to make sure he didn’t go back on it. Chen Luzhou overheard this nearby and wondered—didn’t Xu Zhi dislike him? Why would she speak up for him?

The boss said that with Xu Zhi’s good grades, why stay here? She could go to Beijing or Shanghai. As for her father—he had recovered long ago. They would take care of the old lady. Xu Zhi said it was all her responsibility, and she felt staying here was just fine. Chen Luzhou called his mother and asked if she was free to meet Xu Zhi.

His mother said she’d be busy until next month and asked if Chen Xingqi had caused trouble again. Chen Luzhou wanted to say a friend wanted to meet her, but she was too busy and hung up. Chen Xingqi returned, saying Chen Luzhou had forced him to go sketch in the woods, and he got eaten alive by mosquitoes. He asked Chen Luzhou to check if anyone had mosquito repellent—to create a chance for them to meet.

Chen Luzhou asked Zhu Yangqi if he had told him to say that. Chen Xingqi said it had nothing to do with him—yesterday at the bar, Cai Yingying was so loud the entire resort probably heard her. Chen Luzhou messaged Xu Zhi to ask if she had any repellent, saying Chen Xingqi had been bitten badly. Xu Zhi said yes, and told him to meet in the lobby—she’d bring it.

Zhu Yangqi saw this and said, “Isn’t that the perfect chance to meet? ” Chen Luzhou arrived at the lobby. Xu Zhi was already there, looking at the fish in the tank. She handed him the repellent, saying it had been brought by a friend of her father’s, and told him to make do with it. Chen Luzhou asked if she had eaten dinner. Xu Zhi said no. He suggested they eat together, and she agreed.

Xu Zhi wanted to order alcohol, but Chen Luzhou declined, saying he couldn’t handle it—he once got tricked into drinking baijiu by Zhu Yangqi’s father and ended up chatting with Zhu Yangqi’s grandmother all night. He ordered lemon water. Xu Zhi was reminded of her childhood—she had wanted orange juice, but her mother said it was unhealthy and made her drink lemon water instead. So Xu Zhi also ordered lemon water. They talked about college majors.

Xu Zhi said she wanted to study architecture. Chen Luzhou was surprised—not because he thought girls couldn’t do it, but because he felt girls were more delicate in their emotions, which suited architecture. A famous underwater bookstore was designed by a female architect. He just thought the architecture department at Qingda wasn’t very good. Xu Zhi said she had already decided to stay. Chen Luzhou thought she could also explore the world.

The news said there would be an Aries meteor shower that night. Zhu Yangqi invited Chen Luzhou to watch it. Chen Luzhou said he had editing to do and declined. Zhu Yangqi said that Cai Yingying mentioned Xu Zhi would be going—because her mother was an Aries, and Xu Zhi believed that when people passed away, they turned into meteor showers. That’s why she wanted to see it. Chen Luzhou was surprised Xu Zhi believed such things and went along.

They were thrilled watching the meteor shower. Chen Luzhou asked Xu Zhi to turn around and took a photo of her. Cai Yingying and Zhu Yangqi wandered elsewhere. Xu Zhi said the underwater bookstore he had mentioned was designed by her mother. She had always wanted to become a designer like her mother. But she had also been thinking about what he said—maybe she really could go see other places. Xu Zhi and Chen Luzhou went out for late-night snacks.

Xu Zhi asked how much it cost and said she’d split it. Chen Luzhou asked if she had to be so calculative—she had previously claimed to have a boyfriend just to treat him to dinner, as a way of repaying someone. Xu Zhi thought it was fine. Chen Luzhou asked, “Will your future boyfriend also split the bill this carefully? ” Xu Zhi said yes, but Chen Luzhou wasn’t her boyfriend, so what did it matter?

Chen Luzhou asked her to transfer the money via WeChat, and she did. After returning, Zhu Yangqi said he thought Xu Zhi and Chen Luzhou were a good match and asked if he really wasn’t going to pursue her. Chen Luzhou said, “If I come back from abroad and she’s still single, I’ll go after her.

Episode 5 Recap

Chen Luzhou went to have a meal with his mother, and Professor Jiang’s daughter, Huihui, was also there. Chen Luzhou’s mother mentioned that Huihui had also been admitted to a university in Ruicheng, so they could look after each other in the future. She also said that Chen Luzhou’s father had arrived at the airport and asked Chen Luzhou to pick him up. Since Huihui was going to the movies, he could give her a ride as well.

Chen Luzhou agreed. Xu Zhi’s father called her and asked about watching the meteor shower, and also asked who Chen Luzhou was. Only then did Xu Zhi remember that she had forgotten to sort people into groups, and explained that he was a friend she had recently met. Her father mentioned that a typhoon was coming and asked her to come home early once things were over.

Zhu Yangqi called Cai Yingying, and Cai Yingying said Chen Xingqi didn’t want to paint, and asked what use Xu Zhi would be in this. Zhu Yangqi said that based on his observation, Chen Xingqi feared nothing and no one, but he listened to Xu Zhi. Xu Zhi said she could go, but it would be 800 yuan per day, which had to be paid to her.

Cai Yingying asked Zhu Yangqi where Chen Luzhou had gone, and Zhu Yangqi said he had gone on a blind date. Xu Zhi and Cai Yingying were both shocked. Chen Luzhou said the car was outside and they had to walk a bit. Huihui said that since Chen Luzhou was so handsome, he must have a lot of people chasing him. Chen Luzhou said no, and Huihui said that must mean he already liked someone. Chen Luzhou replied, “Sort of.

” Huihui saw someone approaching, and Chen Luzhou realized it was Huihui’s boyfriend. Huihui and the others went to watch the movie. Zhu Yangqi called Chen Luzhou and told him about Xu Zhi. Chen Luzhou asked what Xu Zhi had said about him going on a blind date. Zhu Yangqi said Xu Zhi claimed that Chen Luzhou was full of lies, saying he was going for an interview but was actually going on a blind date.

Zhu Yangqi said if Chen Luzhou didn’t come back soon, his money-making gig would be snatched by Xu Zhi. Chen Luzhou said, “In her dreams. ” Xu Zhi and the others ran into Cai Yingying’s ex-boyfriend Zhai Xiao. Zhai Xiao was now with Chai Jingjing, and he brought another girl along this time. Cai Yingying felt they had to expose the scumbag’s true colors to prevent more girls from being deceived.

Zhu Yangqi used Chai Jingjing’s alternate account to message Zhai Xiao. The girl didn’t expect Zhai Xiao to be a two-timer and broke up with him. Zhai Xiao saw Cai Yingying and asked if she liked him that much, even to the point of stalking him. Cai Yingying told him not to be so narcissistic. Last time he was right—she didn’t know what she wanted—but now she knew what she didn’t want, and that was trash like him.

Zhai Xiao got so angry he tried to get physical. Zhu Yangqi stepped in and said this was a store owned by Xu Zhi’s uncle, and Zhai Xiao better think twice before doing anything. Zhai Xiao told them to just wait. Chen Luzhou was getting ready to return and asked Zhu Yangqi if he needed anything. Zhu Yangqi asked him to bring some snacks, and Xu Zhi asked for water.

When Chen Luzhou saw that it was raining, he was reminded of the time he was here with Xu Zhi. Chen Luzhou brought back alcohol, but the place didn’t allow outside drinks, so he and Xu Zhi went to a nearby karaoke room. Only a room with a two-person sofa was left. The two sat together, feeling a bit awkward.

Chen Luzhou explained that he had been tricked by his mother today—she told him to meet someone, saying they could look out for each other in the future. Xu Zhi said she didn’t ask, so why was he explaining it to her. Xu Zhi said she was going down the mountain tomorrow because her father was switching to night shifts and couldn’t leave the elderly woman alone at home.

When she got home, her father gave her some money, saying it was to give her confidence and that she should still go out and see the world and study elsewhere. Xu Zhi had a shooting gig and asked Chen Luzhou if he wanted to come. Chen Luzhou said he had already taken a rush job and couldn’t go. Xu Zhi felt a bit upset and wondered if Chen Luzhou even considered them friends.

Cai Yingying asked what she meant, and Xu Zhi said that even though they had spent these past few days together, it felt like they weren’t from the same world. Chen Luzhou went to play basketball and ran into Tan Xu. They played, and Tan Xu deliberately faked out Chen Luzhou. Chen Luzhou went to the hospital and unexpectedly, the one attending him was Xu Zhi’s father.

Episode 6 Recap

Chen Luzhou was asked about his family situation, and he answered, feeling confused—it didn’t seem related to his medical visit. Xu Zhi’s father told Xu Zhi to go get checked first. When Xu Zhi came out, Zhu Yangqi asked how it went, saying it concerned Chen Luzhou’s future happiness. Chen Luzhou still didn’t understand what the doctor meant, as he hadn’t said anything but just asked about his family.

Zhu Yangqi suspected the doctor might be hinting for a red envelope. Chen Luzhou returned, saying it didn’t hurt much anymore and he wanted to head back first. Xu Zhi’s father explained it was just an external injury, and typically would heal in a day or two, but if it didn’t get better in a week, he’d need to come for a follow-up. Cai Yingying’s father came in and recognized Chen Luzhou.

Xu Zhi’s father found a red envelope tucked in a book, and was shocked. He hadn’t expected that from Chen Luzhou, so he quickly handed it in. Xu Zhi and Cai Yingying met the photographer Feng Jin. Feng Jin talked about a skilled photographer he used to know—his documentary footage had aired on TV and his photos were featured in magazines.

Xu Zhi and the others had originally come to check out the store, but Xu Zhi found that the quality of the actual products wasn’t very good. Feng Jin advised Xu Zhi to take the job seriously—after all, you can’t bite the hand that feeds you. Xu Zhi transferred a chat fee to Chen Luzhou and arranged to meet and talk.

When they met, Xu Zhi told him about the store, saying she couldn’t bring herself to praise it against her conscience. Chen Luzhou told her that if she didn’t want to do it, she simply didn’t have to. Xu Zhi ate a bowl of noodles and wanted to pack another one, saying she and Cai Yingying had been running around all day and hadn’t eaten a bite.

Xu Zhi asked what Chen Luzhou was working on lately, and he said Uncle Fu had found him a job with a racing team, and he was currently filming with them. Xu Zhi heard that Chen Luzhou had to film again the next day and said she wanted to go watch. Chen Luzhou agreed. Meanwhile, his colleague had a conflict with the racer Lü Yang.

Lü Yang told the photographer not to disturb his training and threatened to smash his equipment if he did. Chen Luzhou came over and said that the car was Lü Yang’s treasure, but the camera equipment was someone else’s treasure. If he needed finish-line shots, he would take them himself. Chen Luzhou took the shots for Lü Yang, and everyone agreed they looked great.

Xu Zhi messaged Chen Luzhou saying that Cai Yingying was pressing her about where she was going, so she had to tell her. Now both Cai Yingying and Feng Jin wanted to come too. Chen Luzhou said “whatever,” and Xu Zhi wondered if he was upset. When Feng Jin met Chen Luzhou, he was very excited—it turned out Chen Luzhou was his idol. Feng Jin brought food for everyone and asked Xu Zhi if she was close with Chen Luzhou.

Xu Zhi said not really. Chen Luzhou heard this from outside the door. Cai Yingying dragged Feng Jin off to buy drinks. Xu Zhi asked Chen Luzhou if there was any more filming to do that night. Chen Luzhou said no. Xu Zhi then suggested he go back with them, but Chen Luzhou was upset. He asked if Xu Zhi was close with Feng Jin. Xu Zhi said she wasn’t even that close with Zhu Yangqi.

Chen Luzhou then asked why she didn’t split costs with Feng Jin—was she close with everyone except him? He asked what it would take to be considered close—was watching a meteor shower together not close, was drinking together not close? Xu Zhi said Feng Jin had talked about a lot of things regarding Chen Luzhou that she didn’t know, and she felt she didn’t really understand him. Only then did Chen Luzhou realize that was the issue.

Lü Yang left to pick up his sister, and Xu Zhi overheard him mocking Chen Luzhou, saying he was just a spoiled rich kid and his photos weren’t even worth looking at. Xu Zhi challenged Lü Yang to a race—if he lost, he had to apologize to Chen Luzhou in person. Chen Luzhou got a call and found out about the race between Xu Zhi and Lü Yang. He rushed over.

Xu Zhi did very well and suggested a long-distance race. She started off behind because she wasn’t used to the track, but later sped up and looked likely to win. Lü Yang noticed Xu Zhi had been observing his habits and got flustered. He failed to brake properly in a turn and crashed into Xu Zhi—both of them fell to the ground. Chen Luzhou rushed over and carried Xu Zhi away on his back.

Episode 7 Recap

Chen Luzhou took Xu Zhi to the infirmary. Fortunately, she was only slightly scraped. Xu Zhi went back first. As Chen Luzhou was about to leave, Lü Yang apologized to Xu Zhi. Yan Letong came over and told Chen Luzhou about Xu Zhi’s match, handing him a helmet to give to her, saying it was a future Grand Slam-signed helmet. Chen Luzhou called Xu Zhi to ask what was going on.

Xu Zhi said the apology was just an excuse—she mainly wanted to win Lü Yang’s prize money. Chen Luzhou asked if it was raining, Xu Zhi said it wasn’t, but then it started to rain immediately. She blamed his jinxing words but fortunately had brought an umbrella. Chen Luzhou and the others checked into a hotel. Xu Zhi and her group noticed someone filming and speculated that a production crew was staying there—it seemed to be true.

Xu Zhi ate too much and wanted some digestion tablets. Chen Luzhou told her to come with him and gave her some tablets and something else. He took her to his room and gave her the helmet, saying it was from Yan Letong, who was impressed by her dive. Xu Zhi still owed Chen Luzhou a joke. She said she’d learned something recently—not exactly a joke, just interesting.

She said a young patient visited her father and had “that kind of problem. ” As she described it, Chen Luzhou realized it sounded like his own situation and asked if her father was a urologist. Xu Zhi said yes. Only then did Chen Luzhou realize it was him. Chen Luzhou felt awkward. Xu Zhi asked what was wrong—it wasn’t like he had a problem. He insisted he was fine.

Then security guards showed up and took them out, saying they were paparazzi sneaking into the crew’s area with fancy equipment. When Chen Luzhou asked for details, he realized it was all a misunderstanding. He explained that he was there to film a racing team and had told the front desk they were with a filming crew. The team had booked the room, but the front desk mistakenly assigned them to the crew's area.

The security guards didn’t buy it and thought they were making things up. Gu Yan, who was filming nearby, came over and explained Chen Luzhou’s family background, saying that if it was a misunderstanding, it had nothing to do with him and Xu Zhi. Zhu Yangqi saw Chen Luzhou’s Moments post and realized that he and Xu Zhi were out together, so he rushed over. When they arrived, they saw the scene just as the guards left.

Xu Zhi thanked Gu Yan, who said she didn’t help them on purpose. Zhu Yangqi and the others quickly pulled Xu Zhi away. Cai Yingying remarked that Gu Yan really liked Chen Luzhou, and everyone knew it. Zhu Yangqi clarified that Gu Yan liked him, but he didn’t have a girlfriend. Only then did Xu Zhi realize Gu Yan was the girl she had seen texting before.

Xu Zhi came back with bubble tea and gave all of it to Chen Luzhou since Gu Yan had left. This reminded him of earlier events, and he said they should thank Gu Yan together. Gu Yan asked if he liked Xu Zhi. Xu Zhi didn’t respond. Then Gu Yan asked if Xu Zhi liked him. Chen Luzhou replied that it had nothing to do with her.

Zhu Yangqi wanted to go out, but Xu Zhi and Cai Yingying said they wouldn’t join, as they had planned to visit a temple—they felt unlucky recently. Chen Luzhou mentioned there was a temple nearby called Nanyin Temple, which was quite famous. When they arrived, they realized it was dedicated to the Goddess of Fertility. They told Xu Zhi’s father afterward and felt a bit annoyed. Chen Luzhou returned for a checkup.

Xu Zhi’s father asked him to take a red envelope. When Chen Luzhou came out, Zhu Yangqi asked how it went, and he explained. Cai Yingying’s father happened to overhear and later clarified to Xu Zhi’s father that it was all a misunderstanding. Xu Zhi and Cai Yingying set up a street stall. A customer brought a different woman each day, and Xu Zhi couldn’t stand it and spoke up.

The customer tried to cause trouble, but Chen Luzhou came and chased him off. Xu Zhi asked Chen Luzhou to do a manicure. Just then, his mother, who had come looking for news, saw them.

Episode 8 Recap

Chen Luzhou’s mother told someone to go look elsewhere and asked what happened to his hand. He had to show it, and she told him to remove the nail polish immediately before his father saw it. She then told him to come with her. Cai Yingying was the one Xu Zhi had said sounded like her own mother. She hadn’t believed it, but now she was starting to. Although Xu Zhi’s mother nagged her, she was understanding.

Even when Xu Zhi ruined several pairs of rain boots as a child, her mother always bought her new ones. Cai Yingying thought Chen Luzhou’s mother spoke softly but felt aggressive—was Chen Luzhou adopted? His mother said the arrangements for studying abroad were almost done, with the university already in touch—only the visa remained. Chen Luzhou asked if he could not go abroad. She said they had prepared for so long, and now he suddenly refused?

His father wouldn’t agree, and neither would she. Chen Luzhou suggested not going to Huada but to another school, even a less popular major. If they didn’t trust him, he could write a guarantee and not take anything from them. His mother told him not to talk nonsense and that no matter the girl, he must cut things off cleanly before going abroad. Chen Luzhou didn’t go back. He went out in the rain to buy a bottle of water.

Cai Yingying noticed that his phone was still there getting a screen protector and hadn’t been returned yet. Xu Zhi said she would take it to him. Cai Yingying asked if Xu Zhi really didn’t like him—if she didn’t, why would she go out in the rain just to deliver his phone? Xu Zhi didn’t find him, so she waited at his door. He saw her when he returned.

Cai Yingying saw on his Moments a girl who seemed close to him and said Zhu Yangqi owed her hot pot, so she asked him out. She brought it up, and Zhu Yangqi said he really didn’t have a girlfriend—the girl was his cousin, his aunt’s daughter. Cai Yingying sent a message to Xu Zhi. Zhu Yangqi said Chen Luzhou’s family had a small blue chair just for Xu Zhi. She remembered the conversation and found it.

The next day, Chen Luzhou woke up and saw the ginger soup Xu Zhi had made for him. She even comforted him. Today the exam results were to be released. Xu Zhi’s father bought a fast router but didn’t install it properly and shorted the power. He went to fix it, and Xu Zhi told Chen Luzhou. Although the power came back, the router was broken.

Her father contacted customer service, but today everyone was calling to report issues—there wasn’t enough staff. Xu Zhi told Chen Luzhou, who offered to check for her if she didn’t mind giving him her admission ticket number. She did, and he found she had scored 738 points. He congratulated her, saying she should have no problem getting into Huada. Xu Zhi asked his score—713. She thought that was great. Her father overheard and got very excited.

He wanted to celebrate, but Xu Zhi said they hadn’t filled in their college choices yet, so don’t pop the champagne too early. She came over to bring Chen Luzhou food. Zhu Yangqi was also there and suggested calling Cai Yingying to celebrate. He had already decided which university he would attend, while Cai Yingying felt very down. She also scored over 400, but not enough even for a second-tier school. Chen Luzhou and Xu Zhi talked in the room.

She said Huada should be fine, but she was still unsure about the architecture department. Chen Luzhou explained there were many majors within architecture and advised her to research and think it over. He offered his computer if she wanted to look things up. When she opened it, she saw many search records.

Episode 9 Recap

Chen Luzhou was very embarrassed when Xu Zhi saw his search history. Xu Zhi had done some research and found that she was very interested in landscape design. As a child, she had dreamed of owning a large villa with a garden she could design herself. She also checked her scores and believed she had a good chance of getting into that program.

Chen Luzhou prepared a gift for Xu Zhi—a set of books and drawing tools she might need in the future. Cai Yingying was frustrated about playing poorly in a game and felt like she couldn't do anything right. Zhu Yangqi commented that she didn’t do well in the exams this time and suggested she try retaking them. Cai Yingying dismissed the idea, saying she just wasn’t cut out for studying and retaking the test wouldn’t change that.

Zhu Yangqi then suggested she try applying for an art college entrance exam. Cai Yingying said she was tone-deaf and couldn’t sing or dance, so she didn’t think it was an option. Zhu Yangqi noted how sharp and quick-witted she was when arguing and encouraged her to give it a try. Xu Zhi saw a violin at Chen Luzhou's place and said she didn’t expect him to play it. Xu Zhi shared that her grandfather also played, but terribly.

After her grandmother got sick, he would play for her every day, which was disturbing to others. Xu Zhi never understood why—until now. She said when they’re 80 years old, if Chen Luzhou plays the violin for her again, she’ll tell him why. Chen Luzhou replied that if he had a partner then, he’d play for her. If not, he’d play for someone else’s partner.

Xu Zhi saw a moon-shaped lamp in a shop and bought it as a gift for Chen Luzhou, asking the store clerk to deliver it within the city. Tan Xu happened to be there and called out to Xu Zhi. Meanwhile, Chen Luzhou was playing basketball with Zhu Yangqi and asked him to keep an eye on Xu Zhi in Beijing. He didn’t mind her having a boyfriend, but didn’t want her to be bullied.

Cai Yingying walked by and saw Xu Zhi talking with Tan Xu, quickly took a photo and sent it to Zhu Yangqi, then snuck over to listen. Tan Xu told Xu Zhi he had explained to his parents that his poor exam results were his own fault and they wouldn’t blame her. Xu Zhi encouraged Tan Xu to retake the exam, saying he had the ability and that with the right mindset, he’d do fine.

Zhu Yangqi showed the photo to Chen Luzhou and asked if he was okay with it. Chen Luzhou went to an amusement park, saw someone playing the violin, and shared a video of it on his social media. When Chen Luzhou got home, he found a package at the door—it was the moon lamp. He saw Xu Zhi’s social media post and called her. Xu Zhi’s father helped her record a video as she shared her thoughts and reflections.

Her father felt she seemed emotionally stuck, even though she wasn’t like this as a child. Chen Luzhou’s mother messaged him about a video shoot. At first, he didn’t want to go, but she told him the pay was 3,000 yuan, so he agreed. Xu Zhi and her group went to share their reflections. Yang Yijing from the affiliated school greeted Xu Zhi, who introduced herself as being from Ruijun.

Yang Yijing commented that it made sense Xu Zhi wasn’t close with the others—most of them were from No. 1 High School. Yang Yijing said she’d heard there was someone amazing from No. 1 this year who scored 713 on raw scores, and if elective scores were added, it’d easily exceed 750. Unfortunately, he wasn’t there this time. During the recording, provincial top scorer Li Ke talked a lot about that top student.

After the session, they all went for a meal. Li Ke said he had spoken a lot earlier and hoped they didn’t mind not getting a chance to talk. Yang Yijing quickly said they didn’t. Li Ke commented that Xu Zhi ranked 30th in the province, and that if that top scorer had taken electives, she wouldn’t have made it here. Xu Zhi replied that in that case, he wouldn’t be the top scorer either.

At dinner, Li Ke said that top scorer would also be coming. When Chen Luzhou arrived, Xu Zhi finally realized he was the academic genius. Chen Luzhou asked Xu Zhi to come over, but she didn’t want to. As Xu Zhi walked away, Chen Luzhou quickly followed her. He said there were fireworks over there. Xu Zhi replied she wasn’t there to see fireworks. When she tried to leave, Chen Luzhou stopped her, and the two began bickering.

Episode 10 Recap

Xu Zhi and Chen Luzhou went to watch the fireworks together. Xu Zhi asked how he scored so well and if he would have kept it from her if she hadn’t come to the recording and found out. Chen Luzhou said that’s just how he scored. As the fireworks started, the others came to watch but realized Xu Zhi and Chen Luzhou were missing. Li Ke joked that they were probably discussing quantum mechanics.

Chen Luzhou had been carrying around the alcohol he once saved for Xu Zhi. When Xu Zhi tried to take it, she nearly fell. She and Chen Luzhou were very close, and both were excited. Xu Zhi almost kissed him, but Chen Luzhou said it was raining and pulled back a bit. On the way back in a cab, Chen Luzhou wanted to message Xu Zhi to ask if she got home safely but hesitated and didn’t send it.

Zhu Yangqi asked Chen Luzhou what his relationship with Xu Zhi was and how into her he really was. He wondered why, with so many girls liking Chen Luzhou, he liked Xu Zhi—what made her different? Chen Luzhou asked if Zhu Yangqi remembered their first gathering, saying he had liked Xu Zhi since then. For Chen Luzhou, who had been lonely for so long, he just wanted a unique, exclusive kind of love.

While Chen Luzhou and Zhu Yangqi were playing basketball, a dispute broke out with some others. They didn’t intend to fight, but when Zhu Yangqi accidentally dropped his basketball, the others took it as a provocation, and a fight started. Afterward, they went to see an ophthalmologist, who turned out to be Cai Yingying’s father. He said Zhu Yangqi’s eyes were fine—just a small injury on his eyelid that could be treated in surgery.

Chen Luzhou joked that if Zhu Yangqi waited any longer, it would’ve healed on its own. Xu Zhi’s father went to talk to Cai Yingying. He said that didn’t Cai Yingying’s father once say if anyone liked his daughter, he should be brought in for an eye exam? That boy just now was the one. He even showed Cai Yingying’s father a photo of Cai Yingying and Zhu Yangqi from her social media.

Cai Yingying’s father said it was impossible—it was just kids goofing around. Back home, Xu Zhi’s father showed her a coastal travel guide, but Xu Zhi said she didn’t want to travel and asked for a new computer instead. Xu Zhi’s father reminded her she had written a list of ten things to do after graduation in her room, and that this plan was something he and Cai Yingying’s father had come up with.

Xu Zhi called Cai Yingying, who got very excited and said the swimsuit she bought could finally be put to use. Xu Zhi agreed to go. Cai Yingying’s father called her over and asked why she had hidden her social media from him when they usually shared everything. Cai Yingying said it depended on his behavior. He then asked if she wanted to retake the exam for art school because of some boy.

Cai Yingying denied it, saying it was her own decision—she just wanted to get into a top-tier art college. Xu Zhi and Cai Yingying went to the seaside and both agreed vacation was the way to go. Xu Zhi saw that a beloved director’s film was being re-released but hadn’t managed to get tickets. Cai Yingying then revealed she had won two tickets in a lottery and already redeemed them, planning to watch it with Xu Zhi.

When they arrived, Xu Zhi saw Chen Luzhou. Cai Yingying made up an excuse and left. Xu Zhi called Chen Luzhou over. It turned out to be Chen Luzhou’s arrangement. Xu Zhi thought it was lame and wanted to leave. Chen Luzhou asked if being in a relationship was any better. Xu Zhi said no and told him he couldn’t handle it. Chen Luzhou asked if she just wanted to play around and warned her not to regret it. Xu Zhi replied that she wouldn’t—she’d happily see him off at the airport.

Episode 11 Recap

Zhu Yangqi sent a message to Chen Luzhou, telling him to worry about himself first—his own backyard was on fire. Zhu Yangqi and a few others were having a meal when Gu Yan also came over to eat. They all knew Gu Yan and joked that Zhu Yangqi seemed close to her, asking if the rumors about Gu Yan and Chen Luzhou were true. Zhu Yangqi said it was all gossip and told them not to believe it.

The boys found it hard to believe. If it was just gossip, then Gu Yan must’ve been throwing herself at him—they couldn’t understand why such a beautiful woman would do that. The boys made a lot of derogatory remarks about women. Xu Zhi asked Cai Yingying if she knew how to choose a man, saying she should find someone with a perky butt who runs fast, so when he's old, he can fight for eggs at the supermarket.

Gu Yan joined in and said she wanted someone with a big chest—so it would be comfortable to hug. The boys understood the meaning and apologized to Xu Zhi. Xu Zhi said they didn’t need to apologize to her, but to Gu Yan. The boys apologized to Gu Yan. Gu Yan and Xu Zhi went out. Gu Yan explained that she knew Chen Luzhou because of an extracurricular group in high school.

At that time, she was busy acting and had no time to do the assignments. The others didn’t want to be held back and refused to team up with her—only Chen Luzhou agreed. Gu Yan said back then, she thought Chen Luzhou liked her, but later realized he just wanted to work alone—teaming up with her still meant working alone. Xu Zhi said that sounded exactly like something Chen Luzhou would do.

Gu Yan said it was unexpected that someone like Chen Luzhou would silently like Xu Zhi, and not even realize Xu Zhi’s feelings. Xu Zhi called Chen Luzhou, asked what he was doing, and invited him out for a late-night snack. Chen Luzhou came over, and Xu Zhi took him to eat pan-fried buns. She asked if he was free on the 8th to come to her birthday party.

Chen Luzhou said he wasn’t, that he really had plans—it wasn’t that he was avoiding it. Earlier, Chen Luzhou’s mother had told him his university admission had come, and his grandmother wanted to celebrate on the 8th. Chen Luzhou asked if they could change the date, but his mother said if he had something going on, should they just change everything for him?

Chen Luzhou said that next time, they should let him know, call him back to discuss it like he's part of the family. Xu Zhi and her friends went to sing karaoke. A guy from the next room came over saying he lost a game of truth or dare and had to sing a duet with a girl. Zhu Yangqi pinched his voice and sang with the guy, even did a finger-heart gesture. The guy quickly left.

At Chen Luzhou’s family gathering, his grandma gave him peanuts. Chen Xingqi said Chen Luzhou couldn’t eat peanuts, but his grandma said he was too picky and asked if he would eat or not. Chen Luzhou said he’d just eat chicken. Xu Zhi and the others left. Cai Yingying had drunk quite a bit. Zhu Yangqi called a car. Xu Zhi told them to go ahead—her father would come pick her up.

Chen Luzhou said he had something to do and left early. His father was angry, asking what could be so important to ruin everyone’s mood. Chen Luzhou downed a large glass of baijiu and said he was leaving. Xu Zhi’s father called, asking if she needed a ride. Xu Zhi said they were going out for late-night snacks and her phone was out of battery—they’d talk later. Chen Luzhou called Xu Zhi, but she didn’t answer.

He looked for her everywhere and finally found her. He even brought her a cake. Xu Zhi and Chen Luzhou went back together, but Xu Zhi saw her father waiting at the door and quickly pulled Chen Luzhou into hiding. She kissed him and then went out to lead her father away. Chen Luzhou was overjoyed. Xu Zhi later went to Chen Luzhou’s place to use his computer, saying it brought her luck.

Chen Luzhou helped her check something and said she could start buying tickets. Xu Zhi was going to start tutoring and said they wouldn’t see each other much anymore. Chen Luzhou and Chen Xingqi went to study, and Chen Xingqi recognized the student Xu Zhi was tutoring—Xixi.

Episode 12 Recap

Chen Luzhou walked Xu Zhi home and unexpectedly ran into her father downstairs. He asked what they were doing there. Xu Zhi said Chen Luzhou was taking photos for her and they needed to go over some details. Her father told her to go home quickly, and Xu Zhi walked back. He then asked Chen Luzhou why he hadn’t gone for a follow-up checkup. Chen Luzhou said he didn’t have time.

Xu Zhi’s father said that was just an excuse—without a checkup, no one would know his current condition. He told him to go tomorrow. After her father left, Xu Zhi admitted she was dating Chen Luzhou. Her father was very surprised and said it was fine—she was grown up now. He said Chen Luzhou seemed like a decent guy and was a local too.

After they got married, she could visit home often—he didn’t want to be a lonely old man. Xu Zhi said her father was thinking too far ahead—they wouldn’t last. They’d break up in two months because Chen Luzhou was going abroad. When Chen Luzhou got home, he didn’t expect his mother to be there. Zhu Yangqi had been planning to celebrate Chen Luzhou getting into a relationship, but he accidentally let it slip when his mother came.

She said they’d already planned everything—they’d go to Ruicheng next week, and after that, Chen Luzhou would go straight to school and not come home again. Chen Luzhou still wanted to join the Dunhuang project, but his mother said he had always been obedient and never caused trouble—this time would be the same. Xu Zhi messaged Chen Luzhou, and he told her everything. Xu Zhi was heartbroken. Her father noticed and offered to drink with her.

Xu Zhi messaged Chen Luzhou, asking him to go with her to get her ears pierced the next day. The next day, Chen Luzhou went for a checkup—he was fine now. Xu Zhi’s father showed him a video of Xu Zhi running for class president as a child. Chen Luzhou said she was very confident, and her father had raised her well. Her father asked if he was going somewhere with Xu Zhi later. Chen Luzhou mentioned the ear piercing.

Xu Zhi’s father said she used to be very cute, but after her mother passed away, she became a different person. She only told him about small things and never discussed decisions. She once wanted to pierce her ears but turned back halfway, too afraid of the pain—he hadn’t given her enough sense of security. Her father said he was a useless dad but still had a strong fist.

He told Chen Luzhou that if he was going to leave, he should just go—don’t drag things out. Chen Luzhou went with Xu Zhi to get her ears pierced. Xu Zhi picked out earrings and said several looked good—asked Chen Luzhou to choose one for her. Xu Zhi bought him an ice cream, saying experts claimed it would ease the pain after piercing. When Chen Luzhou got home, his mother wasn’t there.

His father was eating and asked him to join. He handed over the apartment key to Chen Luzhou, but he didn’t take it. His father asked if he didn’t want to go abroad. Chen Luzhou said that wasn’t it—going abroad was fine. His father told him that no matter where he went, he should remember he had family here and should come back to visit when he could.

Chen Luzhou said that once he went abroad, he might just settle there. His father reminisced about when Chen Luzhou first came here—how he used to be afraid of him. After returning, Chen Luzhou called Xu Zhi. She could tell he was feeling down and came to keep him company. Zhu Yangqi also felt gloomy, knowing Chen Luzhou was going abroad. Xu Zhi’s father called, telling her it was getting late and to hurry home.

Episode 13 Recap

Gu Yan messaged Chen Luzhou, saying she was leaving and asked if he wouldn't come out to see her off. Xu Zhi saw the message and told Chen Luzhou to go. Chen Luzhou asked Xu Zhi if she wasn’t jealous. Xu Zhi said she knew everything, so there was nothing to be jealous about. Chen Luzhou went out to see Gu Yan off.

Gu Yan said that if it were someone else, she wouldn’t be willing to give up, but since the one Chen Luzhou liked was Xu Zhi, she had nothing more to say. If one day they broke up and she was still single, she hoped Chen Luzhou could give her a chance. Chen Luzhou told Gu Yan not to put all her thoughts on him. Now she was an actress, working from early morning to late night, which wasn't easy.

He told her to act well, and when she went to Europe for the film festival, he would be there to support her. When Chen Luzhou got back, Xu Zhi was looking for something on the table. She had placed a hair tie there earlier, but now it was gone. Chen Luzhou told Xu Zhi to stop looking—he would buy her a dozen later. Zhu Yangqi and the others were drunk and said they wanted to eat barbecue.

Chen Luzhou and the group went together. Everyone was very happy eating barbecue. It wasn’t until dawn that Zhu Yangqi and the others returned. Chen Luzhou took Xu Zhi home. Both of them knew this was a farewell. Xu Zhi said they should both work on becoming better versions of themselves. Chen Luzhou said, didn’t Xu Zhi want to watch the sunrise? The sun was just coming up. Chen Luzhou asked if he could have a hug.

Xu Zhi came over and hugged him. Chen Luzhou went back to pack. Everything in the house was already boxed up. Xu Zhi’s father saw that she was distracted while eating and told her that if she missed Chen Luzhou, she should just go find him. Xu Zhi said there was no need—they had already said goodbye. Xu Zhi’s father said that if she ever wanted to see Chen Luzhou, he could accompany her to Europe.

Xu Zhi said she was going away for college, so what was the point of seeing Chen Luzhou again? Her father said that once she got to school, she would definitely meet someone better. He told her to go out and buy some moxa sticks to send to her grandmother. When Chen Luzhou got home, he saw Xu Zhi at the door. Xu Zhi said she was just passing by while buying moxa sticks.

Chen Luzhou said, how could she just be passing by here? Xu Zhi tried to leave, but Chen Luzhou told her her shoelaces were untied. Xu Zhi tied her laces, turned around, and left. Chen Luzhou also walked away. Zhu Yangqi was playing billiards alone when Cai Yingying came over and asked why he was playing alone.

Zhu Yangqi said Chen Luzhou was going abroad and who knew when he’d be back, so he had to get used to being alone. Cai Yingying said, it’s just billiards—she would play with him. Chen Luzhou and the others were on the plane going abroad. Xu Zhi had placed a card in Chen Luzhou’s bag. It read: “As long as it still rains in Qingyi, as long as puppies still have tails, someone will surely love Chen Luzhou.

” Chen Xingqi came to Chen Luzhou’s room. Chen Luzhou asked why he didn’t stay in his own room. Chen Xingqi said his room was connected to their parents’, and they kept arguing—it was too annoying. Chen Xingqi couldn’t understand why Qianqian hadn’t replied to his messages for days. He asked Chen Luzhou what was going on. Chen Luzhou told him to first transfer 800 yuan to him. Chen Xingqi did.

Chen Luzhou said that a melon should be eaten slice by slice. If you give the whole melon to someone all at once, it’s not fun anymore. Chen Xingqi asked if Chen Luzhou had ever given a whole melon to Xu Zhi. Chen Luzhou didn’t say anything. It was raining and Cai Yingying hadn’t come home yet. Her father went out to look for her and saw her with Zhu Yangqi.

Cai Yingying’s father was frustrated and asked what was going on—was her retaking the college entrance exam all for this guy? Zhu Yangqi said there was a misunderstanding. He liked Cai Yingying, but wasn’t even sure if it was really love. Cai Yingying didn’t know. Her father asked if it was true. Cai Yingying walked away without answering. Xu Zhi’s father found out and said, didn’t he have a lot to say back at the hospital?

Zhu Yangqi messaged Cai Yingying saying he was leaving today. Xu Zhi asked Cai Yingying if she wasn’t going to see him off. Why assume that being classmates meant they were just friends—he clearly had feelings for her. Xu Zhi said that even if someone liked you, it didn’t mean you couldn’t still be friends. Cai Yingying agreed and went to see Zhu Yangqi off. Chen Luzhou and the others went to eat. Chen Xingqi really liked something, and his parents went to buy it for him.

Episode 14 Recap

Chen Luzhou and Chen Xingqi came out and were shocked by a sudden explosion nearby. Their parents had just returned and saw people fleeing from the direction of the restaurant. A boy covered in blood collapsed in front of them. Chen Luzhou protected Chen Xingqi amid the panicked crowd, and Chen Xingqi was knocked down. Chen Luzhou’s mother called him, and he told her that he and Chen Xingqi were together and safe.

Chen Luzhou’s phone was knocked to the ground and trampled a few times. The phone case came off, revealing the four-leaf clover Xu Zhi had given him. His parents arrived and rushed Chen Xingqi to the hospital. Xu Zhi saw the news and immediately tried calling Chen Luzhou. He saw the call, but his phone was broken and he couldn’t answer.

Chen Luzhou ran everywhere and finally found a phone booth to call Xu Zhi. Xu Zhi asked if he was okay. Chen Luzhou said he was fine, then asked if she missed him. Xu Zhi asked him the same. Chen Luzhou’s mother had a nightmare and got up, overhearing him arguing with his father. His father said they had invested so much to send him abroad, and now he suddenly refused to go.

Chen Luzhou said he was just informing them, not discussing it. His father asked his mother for her opinion. She said that boy covered in blood looked just like Chen Luzhou—she couldn’t accept such a thing. His father said it was just a freak incident. His mother said they should book tickets and return home immediately.

They returned to China. Chen Xingqi, traumatized, fell ill. He wanted ice cream, so Chen Luzhou got off the car to buy it for him. Chen Xingqi felt that ever since the incident, Chen Luzhou had become distant from everyone.

Xu Zhi was leaving for college. Cai Yingying and the others came to see her off. Cai Yingying’s father gave Xu Zhi a big red envelope, saying that when she was six, he had wanted to give her New Year money. Xu Zhi said that if he gave it to her back then, her father would have taken it, so she told him to hold onto it until she went to college.

Inside was 10,000 yuan. Xu Zhi’s father thought it was too much, but Cai Yingying’s father said it was for the kid, so he shouldn’t interfere. Cai Yingying was very reluctant to part with Xu Zhi and promised to go to Beijing next year. When Xu Zhi arrived at school, she greeted her roommates. A senior said there was a mixer and had already signed them up. When Xu Zhi returned to her room, she found one of her earrings missing and went to look for it. Lin Yu, who had performed on stage before, was also there and helped her find it.

Li Ke happened to see them and messaged Chen Luzhou, saying he should have a sense of crisis. Chen Luzhou was looking into college supplementary admissions while his parents argued outside. His father said that even if that country was dangerous, there were other options. His mother said she had promised to send him abroad at 18, but now she couldn’t bear it. She couldn’t accept the possibility of him getting hurt. If he didn’t agree, then they should divorce.

His father was furious and felt betrayed. Chen Luzhou came out. His father said, fine, then divorce it is, and threw something, injuring Chen Luzhou’s hand as he protected his mother. His mother treated the wound. Chen Luzhou said if he just left, many problems would be solved. His mother told him not to think that way—it was an issue between the two of them and they would figure it out.

Chen Xingqi asked if their parents were really going to divorce and who Chen Luzhou would go with. Chen Luzhou said he wouldn’t go with either of them. Chen Xingqi asked if he could go with him. Xu Zhi talked on the phone with Cai Yingying. Cai Yingying had recently overheard her father talking to a colleague. The colleague thought girls didn’t need to study—marriage was more important. But Cai Yingying’s father said studying mattered. She was no worse than anyone else. If she got good grades, she could support him. If she didn’t, he would support her—whether she got married or not didn’t matter.

Xu Zhi had once told Chen Luzhou that she had an old knee injury from childhood that would hurt when it rained. Li Ke brought her some medicine, but it was actually Chen Luzhou who sent it. Li Ke asked Chen Luzhou what was going on—if he liked her, he should just go for it. Why have him pretend to deliver the medicine? Chen Luzhou didn’t say anything.

Episode 15 Recap

Outside, a boy was holding flowers and a loudspeaker, getting ready to confess his love. The roommates saw it and thought it was way too cheesy. Xu Zhi said that whether it's cheesy or not is secondary—the main issue is the moral coercion. If both people like each other, it's fine, but if they don’t, it just puts the girl in an awkward spot. The boy started confessing, and unexpectedly, it turned out he liked Xu Zhi.

Xu Zhi's father called and asked how her leg was. Xu Zhi said it was much better. Hearing the noise outside, Xu Zhi explained that someone was confessing to her. Her father told her not to think about those things right now. Xu Zhi commented that the guy wasn’t as handsome as Chen Luzhou. Her father questioned what that had to do with Chen Luzhou.

Xu Zhi thought it was unimpressive that someone from the literature department had to borrow another person’s poem to confess. Xu Zhi’s roommate went downstairs to talk to the guy and told him to stop shouting. There were plenty of people chasing after Xu Zhi, so if he wanted to, he’d have to get in line. The boy argued that love shouldn’t be about who came first. The roommate replied that even Jiang Yu was still waiting in line.

All the roommates agreed that Jiang Yu was pretty handsome, but Xu Zhi didn’t think so. The roommate said that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and maybe Xu Zhi’s ex-boyfriend wasn’t that good-looking either. Xu Zhi replied that it was a matter of her own taste. Zhu Yangqi and Cai Yingying were video chatting. Zhu Yangqi was working out, and Cai Yingying saw a muscular handsome guy behind him.

She told Zhu Yangqi to move aside so she could see the guy better. Xu Zhi and Zhu Yangqi went out for a meal. Zhu Yangqi mentioned what happened and said he had muscles too. Xu Zhi replied that maybe it was just a different perspective—some people like those who look slim with clothes on but have muscles underneath.

Zhu Yangqi brought up Chen Luzhou, saying that when he first came to Beijing, Chen Luzhou had asked him to look after Xu Zhi and not let her get bullied. Xu Zhi asked what exactly Chen Luzhou had said. Zhu Yangqi said it wasn’t much—just to keep an eye on her and that she could date whoever she wanted.

Zhu Yangqi felt that Xu Zhi searching for traces of Chen Luzhou in others wasn't healthy, and suggested she start a new relationship. Zhu Yangqi unexpectedly ran into Chen Luzhou and was shocked, asking when he had come back. They went out for a meal, and Chen Luzhou told him he had decided not to study abroad and had been accepted through Huaguang University’s supplementary enrollment. Zhu Yangqi was thrilled and asked if his family had agreed.

Chen Luzhou replied that from now on, he would only listen to himself. Zhu Yangqi asked where Chen Luzhou was staying and suggested they rent a place together because his current roommate snored and he couldn’t stand it anymore. Chen Luzhou agreed and told him they’d split the utility bills evenly. Xu Zhi and her roommates went to class. Jiang Yu had saved them seats.

The roommates asked Xu Zhi when she and Jiang Yu got together and complained that she hadn’t told them. Xu Zhi said he wasn’t her boyfriend. One roommate mentioned that even though classes had been going on for a month, they heard there were still supplementary spots available. If someone got in now and ended up doing worse than them, wouldn’t that be embarrassing?

On the way back, Jiang Yu came to find Xu Zhi and asked if she had time to work overtime during the National Day holiday. He wanted to work with her, but Xu Zhi declined. Chen Luzhou checked his results and saw that he had been successfully admitted through supplementary enrollment. Zhu Yangqi was ecstatic. Cai Yingying came to find Zhu Yangqi and noticed there were two of everything in the room. She asked if he had a girlfriend.

As she was about to leave, Chen Luzhou came back. Cai Yingying wanted to tell Xu Zhi, but Chen Luzhou said he would tell her when the time was right. Cai Yingying agreed. Later, she met up with Xu Zhi, and both of them were very happy. Chen Luzhou saw Xu Zhi at the cafeteria, and Xu Zhi was stunned.

Episode 16 Recap

Xu Zhi left first. Li Ke asked Chen Luzhou what was going on. Chen Luzhou asked if there were really that many people chasing after Xu Zhi. Li Ke said yes—Jiang Yu liked Xu Zhi and was even in the same department as her. Li Ke explained that Xu Zhi’s roommate and Jiang Yu were classmates, and it was the roommate who set things up so Xu Zhi joined the publicity department.

Jiang Yu had the advantage of being close, so if Chen Luzhou wanted to pursue her, he had to hurry up. While chatting with Xu Zhi, Cai Yingying accidentally let it slip and had no choice but to admit that she had seen Chen Luzhou at Zhu Yangqi’s place. Cai Yingying promised this would absolutely be the last time and said that no matter what happens in the future, her best friend would come first.

Xu Zhi declared they were "friends on break" for twenty-four hours and went back to the dorm to calm down and do her homework. When Xu Zhi returned, a senior said Jiang Yu seemed pretty nice and asked what Xu Zhi thought. Xu Zhi replied that she didn’t have feelings for Jiang Yu, so the senior let it go. Liu Yisi talked about her boyfriend, feeling frustrated that he always made arrangements for her, which she didn’t like.

Xu Zhi suggested that Liu Yisi should talk it through with him. Chen Luzhou got the class schedule for the architecture department from a roommate. He waited for Xu Zhi at the cafeteria and explained that there had been a bombing incident in Ruicheng, which scared his mother so much that she agreed to let him stay.

He originally planned to retake the entrance exam but happened to see the supplementary admission opportunity here and decided to give it a try. Xu Zhi asked why Chen Luzhou hadn’t told her. Chen Luzhou said he didn’t know if it would work out at the time, so he didn’t dare say anything. When Xu Zhi went to class, Chen Luzhou had already saved her a seat.

Later, one of Xu Zhi’s roommates saw her talking with Chen Luzhou and was surprised by how well they seemed to get along. When Xu Zhi got back, her roommate pressed her about her relationship with Chen Luzhou, and only then did they learn that he was actually her ex-boyfriend. They thought he seemed pretty decent. Chen Luzhou and Li Ke went to the library to study. A girl came over and asked Chen Luzhou if he had a girlfriend.

Chen Luzhou said it wasn’t convenient to talk there, and they could go outside. As they stepped out, Xu Zhi and her roommates happened to arrive at the library. Chen Luzhou said he was in the process of getting back with his ex-girlfriend. After returning, Li Ke asked if he had run into Xu Zhi, and Chen Luzhou said yes, downstairs.

Chen Luzhou believed Xu Zhi must be jealous, but Li Ke, seeing how calm she looked, thought she had already moved on. Chen Luzhou’s mother called and said he hadn’t taken his card with him, so she transferred his living expenses to his WeChat account. Chen Luzhou said there was no need—he would try to earn a scholarship. His mother pointed out that the scholarship was only fifteen thousand, and after tuition, there wouldn’t be much left.

She said she would transfer money to him anyway, and it was up to him whether he used it or not. She sent him ten thousand yuan. Zhao Tianqi overheard and said there were some part-time jobs at school. Chen Luzhou explained that Zhao Tianqi misunderstood—he just didn’t want to use his family’s money. Zhao Tianqi noted that Chen Luzhou didn’t seem like someone short on cash, seeing how he played with drones.

Liu Yisi wasn’t doing well in her architecture design course and said the teacher mentioned using drones to view building exteriors could be helpful. She heard Chen Luzhou had a drone and wanted Xu Zhi to help ask him. Xu Zhi agreed to give it a try. Xu Zhi went to ask Chen Luzhou, and he agreed. He told her to just let him know when they needed it.

For Liu Yisi’s birthday, she wanted to invite both Zhao Tianqi and Chen Luzhou. Xu Zhi said she had no objections. Two days earlier, Chen Luzhou had played basketball with Jiang Yu. Jiang Yu had figured out that Chen Luzhou was Xu Zhi’s ex-boyfriend and said that Xu Zhi accepted his friend request because his profile picture was the same as Chen Luzhou’s. Xu Zhi wasn’t sure if it was Chen Luzhou’s alternate account.

Her earring—which was probably a gift from Chen Luzhou—had gone missing during the school party, and she had searched for it for a long time. Jiang Yu told Chen Luzhou that if he wanted to win Xu Zhi back, he shouldn’t hurt her and definitely shouldn’t give others a chance. After dinner, on the way back, it started to rain. Chen Luzhou pulled Xu Zhi aside to take cover from the rain and asked if she had missed him. Xu Zhi said no, and Chen Luzhou kissed her.
