While tidying his study, Mu Tingzhou discovers the diary his amnesiac self, the Grand Tutor, had kept. The entries detail his growing affection for Ming Wei, mentioning a desire to propose marriage. Mu Tingzhou is flustered by descriptions of their intimacy, such as "ears and sideburns brushing," and a note about kneeling for forgiveness after "offending her without permission."

The Grand Tutor noted Ming Wei's response: if he were to offend her again, his punishment would be to cherish her for a lifetime. Reading this, Mu Tingzhou anxiously wonders if he had forced Ming Wei into a "soul-piercing" act during his amnesia. Meanwhile, Ming Qiao, frustrated by her parents' vague disapproval of Xiao Zhao, confronts them about their past conflict with his father. Getting no clear answers, she storms out.

At a nightclub, she is shocked to find Xiao Zhao with another woman. Hiding his own pain, Xiao Zhao cruelly ends their relationship, claiming he prefers an unrestrained life and that she isn't his type. He dismisses her suggestions that he is ill or being pressured by his father, insisting he simply tried to be with her but realized he couldn't, so he decided to stop pretending. Shortly after, a worried Ming Wei arrives to find her sister drinking alone.

A heartbroken Ming Qiao explains the sudden breakup, and Ming Wei, shocked, comforts her, promising to stay by her side. The next day, the sisters encounter Mu Tingzhou and Xiao Zhao in their hotel hallway. Mu Tingzhou tries to greet Ming Wei, but she ignores him and walks past. Deducing her coldness is linked to Xiao Zhao, Mu Tingzhou confronts him, blaming him for being the reason the female lead dislikes him.

Xiao Zhao cryptically replies only that he and Ming Qiao "weren't suitable." Later, Mu Tingzhou approaches Ming Wei, suggesting that Xiao Zhao, whom he believes to be a responsible person, must have had a reason for the strange breakup and that there might be a misunderstanding. Using this as an opportunity to talk, he proposes they improve their own strained relationship for the sake of their work. Ming Wei agrees to be professional.

To facilitate this, Mu Tingzhou suggests they exchange WeChat contacts for work communication. However, as soon as they connect, he admits he has no relationship experience and can't actually help with her sister's situation, cheekily asking Ming Wei if her time with the Grand Tutor taught her any "secrets to make feelings heat up," to which she replies, "No comment."

In reality, Xiao Zhao had broken up with Ming Qiao after learning from his father, Xu Xiu, that his long-lost half-sister was likely Ming Wei. He had confronted Ming's mother, who, while not confirming it directly, made it clear that Ming Wei was a child of the Ming family with no ties to the Xus. She also explicitly forbade a relationship between Xiao Zhao and Ming Qiao to prevent their families from becoming entangled again.

When Xu Xiu later shows up at the film set, eager to see Ming Wei, Xiao Zhao quickly pulls him away, pleading with him not to reveal the truth and cause Ming Wei immense pain before the Ming family is ready. The tense atmosphere is further disrupted by the arrival of Xu Lin, Xiao Zhao's sister. Introducing herself as Mu Tingzhou's junior who is there to consult on costumes, she immediately invites Mu Tingzhou to dinner, excluding Ming Wei.

At dinner, Xu Lin attempts to turn him against Ming Wei, calling her "calculating." Mu Tingzhou shuts her down, stating he trusts his own judgment and warns her not to comment on Ming Wei again. A hurt Xu Lin confesses her feelings for him are why she has changed, but he gently reiterates that he only sees her as a sister.

Later, Xu Lin discovers her father, Xu Xiu, giving expensive supplements to Ming Wei as a gesture of paternal guilt. She furiously accuses Ming Wei of seducing her father after failing to ensnare Mu Tingzhou and Xiao Zhao. As the argument escalates, Xu Xiu pulls his daughter aside and reveals the truth: Ming Wei is her biological sister.

Xu Lin refuses to believe it, screaming that Ming Wei's appearance has ruined everything—Mu Tingzhou is distant, Xiao Zhao protects Ming Wei over her, and now her father is telling her to accept this. During the next rehearsal, an enraged Xu Lin storms in, slaps Ming Wei across the face, and publicly denounces her as their father's "illegitimate daughter," born from a pre-marital affair. Ming Qiao instantly retaliates, slapping Xu Lin back as Xiao Zhao rushes to intervene.

Xu Lin, spiraling, blames Xiao Zhao for knowing the truth and for pushing Ming Wei and Mu Tingzhou together, leading to her own rejection. Shaken, Ming Wei realizes Xu Lin's claims might explain her mother's past behavior and Xiao Zhao's sudden breakup. The sisters rush home to get the truth from their parents. Their father tearfully embraces Ming Wei, reassuring her she will always be his beloved daughter.

The family shares an emotional moment, reaffirming their bond as a family of four. Outside, Mu Tingzhou tells Xiao Zhao that there's no blood relation between him and Ming Qiao. Xiao Zhao admits he still felt the relationship was strange and that he forced himself to be cold to her, though it pained him. As they talk, Ming Qiao comes out and confronts Xiao Zhao directly. " Did you already know my sister is your sister? Is that why you broke up with me?" she asks, then adds with a wry smile, "So after chasing you for so long, I just ended up with a brother?"
