After Second Uncle's diagnosis, he confirmed that Little Mint was out of danger. However, due to the severe pathogenic cold that had invaded her body, it was crucial that she not catch a cold again before taking her medicine, as otherwise, no one would be able to save her. Princess Nan Pingwan thanked Mo Xiuran and Little Mint for saving her and her brother Fei De.

She then volunteered to fetch the medicine, but Mo Yuji interjected, stating that she was unfamiliar with the local drugstores, and offered to handle the task himself. Mo Xiuran then politely but firmly asked the Princess and Fei De to return, emphasizing that Little Mint needed a lot of rest. As Little Mint lay unconscious, Mo Xiuran expressed his profound concern, vowing to protect her and help her find her brother.

He stayed by her side, even in his cat form, taking care of her continuously for two days and nights. When she was too weak to drink the medicine herself, he gently administered it to her mouth-to-mouth. Upon waking, Little Mint saw Mo Xiuran asleep beside her, deducing that he had been her caregiver.

When Mo Xiuran woke, Little Mint pretended to still be asleep, listening as he mumbled about her taking two days to wake up and chastised her for taking a blow for him. She then admitted she was awake and teased him for acting like a proper master. He retorted that she was finally acknowledging him as such. He ordered her to take her bitter medicine, which she initially refused.

He then surprised her by once again feeding it to her mouth-to-mouth, much to her wide-eyed shock. He playfully justified his actions by saying a master must protect his pet, even if she caused trouble. To express their gratitude, Princess Nan Pingwan and Fei De hosted a banquet at the Manxiang Restaurant. The Princess informed Mo Xiuran that her father had invited him to their tribe to sign a friendly treaty.

During the dinner, Nan Pingwan generously offered Little Mint the Red Soul Orb, explaining that Mo Xiuran had mentioned it could help her find her brother. Little Mint accepted, thanking the Princess, while Mo Xiuran reminded Little Mint that he had promised her an intact Red Soul Orb, playfully telling her he would let her have the credit for its retrieval. Fei De then recalled seeing a similar white Soul Orb in his hometown.

Nan Pingwan elaborated that about a year ago, her father acquired a white Soul Orb adorned with lines, resembling a Heavenly Hound, suggesting it was likely in Sunset City. Little Mint, overjoyed by the possibility, readily agreed to accompany them to Sunset City. Meanwhile, Lady Yu approached Mo Yuji, acknowledging his impending trip to Sunset City. She expressed regret for her past interference and apologized for not considering his desires.

She promised to stop meddling in his affairs, vowing to chant Buddhist scriptures for his safety and respect all his decisions. However, she also advised him to fight for what he wanted, reminding him that constantly yielding might lead to lifelong regret. Mo Xiuran, eager to boast about finding the Red Soul Orb for Little Mint, visited Bu Ou.

Bu Ou, however, commented that finding the Soul Orbs seemed too easy, almost as if someone was orchestrating events from behind the scenes. Mo Xiuran denied her suspicions, recalling how he had witnessed Shu Hu's death. Bu Ou cautioned him to be careful, believing there was more to the story. Mo Xiuran asserted he would find all four Soul Orbs to break his contract with Little Mint and return to Yu Li Planet, offering to take Bu Ou with him.

Bu Ou declined, stating she liked Tian Li State and subtly implied that Mo Xiuran's true reason for staying was Little Mint. Mo Xiuran, flustered, vehemently denied staying for Little Mint, causing Bu Ou to smirk and ask if she had mentioned Little Mint by name. The next morning, Mo Xiuran woke up to find a pimple on his face. He tried to hide it from Little Mint with a fan.

Little Mint snatched the fan, leaning close to his face, making his heart race as he anticipated a kiss. Instead, she quickly popped a mint leaf into his mouth, suggesting it would help reduce the swelling. At that moment, Luo Feng walked in, witnessing their close proximity, and immediately turned to leave. Luo Feng teased Mo Xiuran, suggesting he had fallen for Little Mint. Mo Xiuran vehemently denied it, claiming his actions were solely to break their contract.

Luo Feng, however, insisted that Mo Xiuran was "blind in his own maze" and challenged him to a bet: if Luo Feng could prove Mo Xiuran had feelings for Little Mint, Mo Xiuran would have to run 30 laps around the training grounds. Mo Xiuran accepted.

Luo Feng then replaced Little Mint with Shuang Hua, the finest maid in the mansion, to attend to Mo Xiuran, while Little Mint was sent out to purchase travel necessities for the trip to Sunset City. Little Mint, while shopping, purchased a comic version of "The Butterfly Lovers" for Mo Xiuran. Later, Little Mint encountered Princess Nan Pingwan.

The Princess inquired about Mo Xiuran's purchases, expressing surprise at his "refined interest" in the comic version of "The Butterfly Lovers," finding it sentimental for a battlefield general. When asked about Mo Xiuran's characteristics, Little Mint listed his shortcomings, such as being severe with others but lenient with himself, a megalomaniac, and narcissistic.

However, Nan Pingwan interpreted these traits as evidence of his exceptional management skills, his "ever-victorious" reputation, and his being a "real man," embodying a vivid and substantial personality despite his experience with life's impermanence. Little Mint also complained about Mo Xiuran's cranky and moody disposition, but Nan Pingwan saw it as proof of his youthful spirit, finding it a rare quality.

Back at the mansion, Mo Xiuran returned from the training grounds, where he had been selecting elite soldiers for the trip, only to find Little Mint had not yet returned, leaving him in a visibly sullen mood.

Luo Feng observed his demeanor and pointed out that Mo Xiuran's palms would sweat and his heart would race when he was near Little Mint, and that he had been unhappy with the new maid and restless during training since Little Mint had been gone for just a few hours. Mo Xiuran, still refusing to admit his feelings, claimed he was just worried Little Mint would cause trouble.

Annoyed by Luo Feng's persistence and having clearly lost the bet, Mo Xiuran unjustly declared that Luo Feng had lost and punished him by making him run 40 laps around the training grounds, escalating to 60 when Luo Feng protested. The following day, fearing Mo Xiuran's temper, Little Mint decided to ride in the smaller carriage with Mo Yuji.

However, Mo Xiuran, feigning a need to warm up from the chilly weather, squeezed into the already cramped carriage, followed by Luo Feng, creating an awkward situation among the four. To ease the tension, Mo Yuji recited a favorite poem of Su Zimo, offering comfort to Little Mint about her brother's safety. Little Mint smiled, brightening the atmosphere. Not to be outdone, Mo Xiuran also recited a poem, though his choice was a melancholic one that seemed out of place. As the carriage continued its bumpy journey, Little Mint began to feel nauseous. Mo Xiuran, noting her discomfort, quickly instructed Luo Feng to stop the carriage.
