Be My Cat Episode 2 Recap
> Be My Cat Recap
Mo Xiuran, still frustrated by the master-servant contract he had unwillingly entered, observed Su Xiaohe's arrival at Mo Mansion. He had already given instructions to the butler to ensure she remained. Su Xiaohe initially sought the "dog officer" position, confident that her experience running the Yiqu Pet Shop in Qingshan Town made her uniquely qualified. She hoped this role would allow her to infiltrate the Mo family and search for her missing brother, Su Zimo.
However, several other applicants were also competing for the same job. After a private conversation with Luo Feng, the butler offered Su Xiaohe the prestigious role of First Maid of the East Court, claiming her talents were too exceptional for a dog officer.
Despite her initial preference for the dog officer position and her honest admission of lacking maid experience, the generous benefits—a monthly salary of 100 taels of silver, a mere four hours of work daily, and 100 days of paid leave per year—convinced her, as it would provide ample time to locate her brother. Luo Feng then led her to her new quarters, which surprisingly resembled a princess's room rather than a maid's.
Mo Xiuran soon appeared, revealing the true purpose behind her employment. He presented her with several boxes of marbles, which he considered precious goods, in exchange for her signature on a contract. Su Xiaohe, however, immediately sensed the document's dubious nature and refused to sign, realizing the interview had been a carefully orchestrated trap. In his desperate attempt to compel her, Mo Xiuran stumbled, falling onto Su Xiaohe and accidentally kissing her.
During their entanglement, his hand brushed against the Blue Soul Orb she wore around her neck, causing him to instantly transform into a cat. Su Xiaohe was utterly stunned. Moments later, Luo Feng entered the room, finding only Mo Xiuran's discarded clothes and a cat. Mistaking the feline for Su Xiaohe's pet, he picked it up and warned her that only the Young General was permitted to keep a cat in the East Court.
The cat, which was Mo Xiuran, silently urged Luo Feng to release him. Deeply frightened by Mo Xiuran's sudden transformation, Su Xiaohe resolved to escape the Mo Mansion that very night. As she attempted to scale a wall, Su Xiaohe reconsidered, chastising herself for contemplating flight without finding her brother. She rationalized that the creature was "just a cat, a little devil cat," and therefore not to be feared.
From a nearby tree, Mo Xiuran, in his cat form, corrected her, asserting, "I'm not a devil cat." Startled, Su Xiaohe questioned his nocturnal presence in the tree, referring to him as a "cat," not a person. To demonstrate his true power, Mo Xiuran swiftly transported her to his secret cattery, moving with such speed that Su Xiaohe felt as though she were flying.
In his hidden sanctuary, Mo Xiuran proclaimed he was not a devil cat but a prince from Yu Li Planet. Su Xiaohe, however, dismissed his tale as ludicrous, believing him to be nothing more than "a little devil cat pretending to be a celestial being." He repeatedly demanded her signature on the contract, but she steadfastly refused. Subsequently, Su Xiaohe was accidentally knocked unconscious.
Due to the first rule of their master-servant contract—"if the master is injured, the cat will simultaneously be injured"—Mo Xiuran also lost consciousness. The following day, Su Xiaohe found an opportunity to enter the West Court, a section of the mansion typically restricted to East Court maids. She overheard other maids bickering over who would clean Zhen Bao House, a place rumored to be cursed, where a "little craftsman" had recently vanished.
Suspecting this craftsman might be her brother, Su Xiaohe deliberately bumped into another maid and offered to undertake the daunting task of cleaning Zhen Bao House as an apology. Inside the West Court, she encountered Mo Yuji, the Second Young Master. His dog, Yuan Bao, barked at her, indicating her unfamiliarity. Su Xiaohe calmly introduced herself as a maid assigned to clean Zhen Bao House.
She then astutely observed Yuan Bao, accurately diagnosing its pregnancy and advising Mo Yuji that the dog's recent consumption of animal organs had caused it vexation, emphasizing its need for water. Mo Yuji, finding her "interesting," permitted her to fetch water, which Su Xiaohe cleverly used as an excuse to slip away, and Mo Yuji did not pursue her. Su Xiaohe proceeded to the Zhen Bao House, a gloomy place even in daylight.
She discovered bloodstains on a candlestick, leading her to suspect her brother might have been attacked there. Hidden beneath a table, she found what appeared to be her brother's manuscript. Suddenly, Mo Xiuran, now in human form, materialized close by, startling her. He quickly covered her mouth to prevent her scream, but she bit him, complaining about his dog fur scent.
Mo Xiuran once again pressed her to sign the contract, reintroducing himself as "Gu Gu Li," the handsome and unparalleled Prince of Yu Li Planet. He reminded her that their master-servant contract had been initiated when she "coveted his beauty and kissed him" in the forest, explaining why he could only maintain his human form for half the day. Su Xiaohe was astonished to realize she was his master.
Believing that having the powerful Young General as her servant would simplify her search for her brother, she defiantly tore up the contract. Mo Xiuran, infuriated, restrained her, revealing that the contract explicitly stated, "if the contract is ripped, the termination of the contract failed." Su Xiaohe then tried kissing him again, thinking it would revert him to his cat form, but it proved ineffective.
Later, while Su Xiaohe was bathing him in his cat form, Mo Xiuran accidentally touched the Blue Soul Orb, instantly transforming him back into a naked human. Su Xiaohe shrieked and fled the room, exclaiming he was a "rascal" and an "exhibitionist." Realizing the chaos, she decided she could no longer continue without understanding the situation and resolved to thoroughly study her brother's manuscript to uncover the truth and find him.
Her brother's manuscript meticulously described four Soul Orbs—Blue, Red, White, and Yellow—detailing their unique appearances and the animal patterns adorning them. Su Xiaohe connected Mo Xiuran's transformation to the Blue Soul Orb, questioning if she had "released the evil cat" from it.
She then recalled Mo Xiuran's earlier claim of originating from another planet and found a passage in the manuscript describing a meteor shower ten years prior and the appearance of a deep hole with stars, a description that mirrored Mo Xiuran's account of his home. This confirmed Mo Xiuran's incredible story. She now understood that she needed to remain in Mo Mansion to properly investigate her brother's disappearance and his relentless search for the Soul Orbs.
During a training session, Mo Xiuran encountered his sister, Bu Ou, who had also traveled from Yu Li Planet. She mentioned the Cat Queen's sacrifice a decade ago and her subsequent search for him. Mo Xiuran, still desperate to return to Yu Li Planet, asked her about terminating the master-servant contract. Bu Ou confirmed her experience with such matters and mentioned seeing Su Xiaohe with the Blue Soul Orb, finding her "kind of cute."
She playfully teased Mo Xiuran about being a difficult servant to his master. Bu Ou then revealed that while signing the contract was one way to terminate it, another, more challenging method existed: a "kiss of true love." Mo Xiuran, confident in his charm, initially believed this would be easy, assuming he could simply induce Su Xiaohe to willingly kiss him, given their past accidental kisses.
However, Bu Ou corrected him, emphasizing that it was "not about the kiss, but true love." Mo Xiuran was visibly dismayed by the prospect of having to fall in love with Su Xiaohe to break the contract. Meanwhile, Luo Feng, observing Mo Xiuran's vexation over Su Xiaohe, mistakenly concluded that his Young General was smitten and offered to impart his wisdom on pursuing women.
Concurrently, when Su Xiaohe visited a fabric shop, the shopkeeper presented her with a "wish list" to complete—questions about her ideal scenery, food, and romantic date—in exchange for a gift. Su Xiaohe chose a pair of cat ears. Luo Feng later acquired this wish list, which Mo Xiuran dismissed as naive but planned to fulfill, confident that he could "hunt" and win her affection, much like setting a trap.
Simultaneously, Su Xiaohe went to a pawn shop to inquire about Soul Orbs. The shopkeeper suggested that her Blue Soul Orb might not have been acquired legitimately and offered to purchase it. At that moment, Mo Yuji appeared, recognizing the Blue Soul Orb as belonging to his friend, Su Zimo. He accused Su Xiaohe of being a "cheater and a thief," demanding to know why she possessed it.
Su Xiaohe quickly clarified that she was "Little Mint," Su Zimo's younger sister, a fact Mo Yuji had often heard from his friend. Realizing his error, Mo Yuji immediately apologized for his rudeness. Su Xiaohe accepted, requesting that he no longer call her a thief. She then explained that her brother had not merely disappeared but had been kidnapped, and a letter had instructed her to collect four Soul Orbs to secure his return. Mo Yuji, who had also been secretly investigating Su Zimo's disappearance, pledged to help Su Xiaohe in her search for the Soul Orbs.
