Be My Cat Episode 16 (Ending) Recap
> Be My Cat Recap
After releasing a sky lantern together, Mo Xiuran prepared a special fish dish for Little Mint as an apology for not eating the fish she cooked for him at the fish restaurant previously. When Little Mint guessed the dish was named after affection or felicity, Mo Xiuran revealed it was called "Farewell," hinting at his true intentions. He then clarified that cats love fish just as Little Mint loved Gu Gu Li, his cat persona.
Later, Mo Xiuran took Little Mint boating. Little Mint was surprised to see him calm on the water, as he used to be afraid. Mo Xiuran declared that her prince had overcome this small flaw. She playfully told him that flying a sky lantern, cooking, and boating wouldn't be enough to make up for things. Mo Xiuran simply replied, "I know."
Instead of the marriage papers Little Mint hoped for, Mo Xiuran presented her with three Soul Orbs, telling her to keep them safe and that she would receive the blue one tomorrow. Disappointed, Little Mint clarified she wanted marriage papers, not Soul Orbs. Mo Xiuran reminded her they had already been married twice, but she insisted. He then kissed her, claiming it was the reward he desired.
He spoke of his regret over leaving her and wondering if she had been well in his absence, afraid of her answer. The passionate kiss, however, caused Little Mint, already unwell, to faint. The next morning, Little Mint awoke feeling embarrassed about fainting during the kiss. She sensed Mo Xiuran was acting strangely, a feeling that had started the previous night. She confronted him, asking if he was going to leave her.
Mo Xiuran reassured her, stating his heart was, is, and always would be with her, and that he would never abandon her. She then asked if he would return to his planet, suggesting she would go with him if he did. They sealed their understanding with a deal. Internally, Mo Xiuran expressed his wish for a long life with Little Mint, filled with blessings, but lamented that he couldn't give her marriage papers or a future.
Soon after, Luo Feng entered the room with a heavy heart. Mo Xiuran instructed him to deliver the Blue Soul Orb to Su Zimo after he, Mo Xiuran, entered it. He told Luo Feng that men didn't need tears for goodbyes and entrusted him with protecting the Mo family and the princess. Meanwhile, Mo Yuji called "Mo Xiuran" out, revealing he had long suspected him to be an imposter, a suspicion confirmed after overhearing his conversation with Su Zimo.
Mo Yuji recounted how "Mo Xiuran" had changed after the wedding. " Mo Xiuran" admitted he was not the original Mo Xiuran but possessed his memories and emotions, claiming to be him nonetheless. To prove his words, he shared a childhood memory of Mo Yuji almost drowning while fishing, which led to the original Mo Xiuran being punished.
He then presented Mo Yuji with a letter written by the true Mo Xiuran from Qingzhou, expressing regret for their strained relationship and apologizing for blaming Mo Yuji for their mother's death. The letter also entrusted Mo Yuji with the responsibility of protecting the Mo family in his absence. " Mo Xiuran" further requested Mo Yuji to protect Little Mint, ensuring no one would bully her.
Before Mo Yuji could fully process this, Su Zimo rushed in, distraught, to announce that Little Mint was missing. They quickly discovered a knockout incense in Little Mint's room. After waking a dazed Luo Feng, he recounted seeing Second Master Yuting taking Little Mint before he passed out. Su Zimo also found Zhao Cai dead in Yuting's yard, along with a letter.
The letter revealed Yuting's true identity as Shu Hu and demanded Mo Yuji bring the intact Blue Soul Orb to Yishan Hall the following afternoon in exchange for Little Mint. Enraged, Mo Xiuran vowed to shred Shu Hu if he harmed Little Mint. Mo Xiuran did not comply with Shu Hu's demand directly. He instructed Su Zimo, who was skilled in carving and knowledgeable about Soul Orbs, to create a convincing fake Blue Soul Orb.
Mo Yuji then took this fake orb to Yishan Hall. Shu Hu, however, had already absorbed the power of the other Soul Orbs, revealing Little Mint was afflicted with the seven-star poison and would bleed to death once the poison reached her heart. As Shu Hu began to choke Little Mint, Mo Xiuran descended from the sky to confront him, remarking on Shu Hu's failing eyesight. The battle ensued, but with Shu Hu's amplified power, Mo Xiuran was quickly overwhelmed.
Bu Ou and Luo Feng also joined the fight but were defeated. Seeing Mo Xiuran weakened since terminating his contract with Little Mint, Bu Ou urged Little Mint to re-establish their contract. Without hesitation, Little Mint cut her hand and clutched the Blue Soul Orb, renewing their bond. The renewed contract significantly boosted Mo Xiuran's power, allowing him to defeat Shu Hu. Mo Xiuran rushed to Little Mint, who was now utterly exhausted. She confessed her tiredness and pain.
Mo Xiuran comforted her, assuring her he was there. Little Mint, wanting to protect him, kissed him and terminated their contract again, proclaiming that this way, he wouldn't die because of her. She professed her profound love for him, saying she wanted to protect him this time. Mo Xiuran, refusing to let her die, told her, "Pets must save their owners." He then entered the Soul Orb, sacrificing himself to save Little Mint's life.
When Little Mint regained consciousness, she learned that Mo Xiuran was still alive but had been severely injured. His soul power was depleted, and he could no longer maintain his human form, having transformed into a cat. Devastated, Little Mint lamented that he had broken his promise to spend his life making it up to her. Accompanied by her brother and Bu Ou, she took the cat-form Mo Xiuran back to her home by Qingshan Lake.
One year passed, and Little Mint continued to make mint honey for Mo Xiuran. One day, her tears fell into the jar of mint honey. Mo Xiuran drank it and miraculously regained his human form. The two sat together on a high vantage point, and Mo Xiuran presented her with a marriage contract. Little Mint playfully feigned dissatisfaction, but Mo Xiuran, with affectionate words and kisses, soon brought a joyful smile to her face.
She affectionately clung to him, peppering his lips with small kisses. After overcoming countless challenges and difficulties, they were finally able to embark on their happily ever after, hand in hand.
