Adventure Behind the Bronze Door Episode 25 Recap
> Adventure Behind the Bronze Door Recap
While confronting the creature known as the "Night King" (later identified as a Mystic Claw), Wu Xie and Fatty were additionally faced with Zhang Haixing. Proving to be a formidable opponent they couldn't defeat together, Wu Xie and Fatty relied on their usual coordination. While Zhang Haixing was distracted, Fatty managed to knock her unconscious. While Zhang Haixing remained unconscious, Wu Xie quickly relayed the details of his conversation with her to Fatty.
They discussed Zhang Haixing's statement that she was no longer a member of the Zhang Family, concluding it wasn't a simple act of rebellion but a symbolic declaration of betrayal. They reasoned that her current actions must be against the interests of the Zhang Family. This led them to suspect that both Zhang Haixing and her brother, Zhang Haike, had betrayed their clan, possibly for valuable secrets or power hidden within the Zhang Family.
Given their close relationship, it was unlikely Zhang Haixing was acting alone; Zhang Haike was almost certainly involved and likely the mastermind behind the entire scheme. Wu Xie realized that many events he experienced, possibly even starting with being given the Hexagonal bell, might have been deliberately orchestrated by Zhang Haike. The Hexagonal bell was likely used to test Wu Xie's unique ability to resist illusions, which would be necessary for navigating traps potentially set by Zhang Qiling.
They also considered that Zhang Qiling's appearance in the videotape was real and related to the events here, although the full context remained unclear. Needing to lure the creature out of the door where it could be defeated, Wu Xie recalled Zhang Qiling's scroll mentioning "bone incense." The scroll described a woman from the Yinshaluo people who reacted strongly to the scent of crushed animal bones used for steaming or incense.
Wu Xie proposed that such an incense might attract the creature. Since they didn't have dried corpses as mentioned in the scroll, Wu Xie suggested using teeth, which contain protein, similar to dried bones. Fatty readily offered one of his teeth that had been loosened earlier. After some reluctance and prodding from Fatty, Wu Xie painfully knocked out one of his own teeth. They crushed a tooth to create the bone powder.
As they burned the bone powder, the creature emerged from the door. Wu Xie immediately understood why it had been invisible inside: its armor matched the patterns on the door, acting as a camouflage, making it difficult to see in dim light. Wu Xie and Fatty led the creature away from the door, attempting to lure it into a trap. The creature was powerful, nearly throwing Wu Xie into an abyss.
Thinking quickly, Fatty detonated an explosive charge nearby, saving Wu Xie by blasting him upwards while sending the creature tumbling down the cliff. As the creature fell, they recognized it as a Mystic Claw (密札陀), a beast usually tamed by the Zhang Family for defense. They questioned why it was here and noted it seemed mutated compared to one they had seen before.
They felt a sense of irony that the "Night King" they had sought was this creature, a Mystic Claw. Seeking the Heavenly Staff which had been knocked away during the fight, Wu Xie and Fatty searched the area near where they had battled the Mystic Claw. They located the staff and Fatty helped Wu Xie retrieve it from a drop-off. While retrieving the staff, they triggered a hidden mechanism and fell into an artificial passage below.
They realized it was an intelligently designed trap with a hidden door or "live door." Exploring the passage, they discovered a door leading to a large chamber filled with skeletons. Among the remains, they found discarded Mystic Claw armors and masks. This chilling discovery led them to the realization that the "Night King" was not a single creature but a fabricated entity or entities.
They suspected the Yinshaluo people whose skeletons were present were involved in secretly creating these Mystic Claws. Fatty grew furious, understanding that Zhang Haike had completely deceived them by creating the "Night King" myth as a lure. They suspected the Zhang Family had secretly built this place to produce Mystic Claws, using a fake Bronze Door and Qiling's mechanisms to protect this hidden production line.
They discussed the true purpose of Zhang Haike's elaborate scheme, suspecting he used Wu Xie to bypass Qiling's sophisticated defenses that protected this hidden facility. They determined they needed to find Zhang Haike and Zhang Haixing to confront them, and uncover the real secret Zhang Haike was after, as killing the Mystic Claw seemed too simple a task for Zhang Family members to require their involvement.
They also needed to find the Heavenly Staff which had fallen into the passage with them. Searching for a way out of the artificial cave, they came across a chamber resembling a library, filled with spirit containers or "灵龛." Inside these containers, they found skeletons with characteristic long fingers and items, recognizing them as deceased members of the Zhang Family, commemorated according to local customs. Further exploration revealed an opening in the passage from which wind was blowing, suggesting a potential exit or connection to the outside.
