Lao Qian hadn't rested yet and remembered A He's reminder to be polite to guests, so he initiated a conversation with Fei Tang. The sleeping arrangements weren't far apart, and their voices could be heard if they spoke too loudly. Fei Tang felt it was only fair to engage in some small talk since they were guests in someone else's home, so he responded casually. However, when Lao Qian mentioned "exterminating monsters within the Yu Men," he suddenly became more alert, catching the attention of the others.

Hundreds of years ago, the Grand General sought to eradicate demons and monsters, entrusting the task to the Taoist priests. They drove these creatures into the Yu Men Pass and sealed the entrance. From that point on, inside and outside the pass became two separate worlds. However, when the Taoist priests and the Yu Lin Wei entered the pass, they were surprised to find that these creatures had originally come from inside the pass, often referred to as "inside-pass monsters."

The Taoist priests and the Yu Lin Wei took control of Hei Shi City inside the pass and spent many years learning how to enter and exit the pass. However, aside from the rulers, ordinary people from inside the pass had no way to leave. Chang Dong was puzzled by this information and began to suspect that Ye Liuxi's identity might be connected to the rulers.

That night, Ye Liuxi dreamt of a young girl who had lost her parents, carrying a sickle as she tracked a mysterious man. There was something peculiar about the golden scorpion on her left shoulder. She woke up in the early morning, and A He was already busy fetching rice from a sack to prepare breakfast for everyone.

Supplies were not abundant inside the pass, and they had been living off the generosity of others. Ye Liuxi felt a bit guilty, especially considering they were more mouths to feed than one or two. She woke Chang Dong, and although he woke quickly, his mind was still lagging behind. He was half-submerged in weariness and grogginess, his voice sounding low and hoarse, which left Ye Liuxi somewhat stunned. Chang Dong neatly folded his own blanket and was about to go out, but Ye Liuxi deliberately messed it up several times, forcing him to help her fold it properly.

Despite appearing uneventful the previous night, they had encountered a terrifying event unknown to others. The car's tires had been chewed through by the sand people, and the car's body was covered in the dried prints of their hands and feet. It was unclear how many sand people had climbed all over it. Chang Dong quickly assessed the damage and formulated a plan to make up for it. Luckily, they had spare tires in the car, and the contents inside were undamaged. Fei Tang retrieved supplies and placed them in the underground chamber. He also handed a few pieces of chocolate to A He and the others to try. Lao Qian had a hidden agenda in mind.

Soon, a sandstorm rolled in, obscuring the sky. A He, Shu Tiao, and Lao Qian all disappeared from sight. Chang Dong sensed that something was amiss and eventually discovered that the stove had been blocked by Lao Qian. It was clear that he intended to put them in danger. An onslaught of sand people descended upon them, and Chang Dong climbed onto the roof. The situation in the courtyard was clear from above. He instructed Gao Shen and Ye Liuxi, who were the most skilled, to take the center, acting as shields for each other. Ding Liu hid in the shadows and provided cover fire, and even Fei Tang, unusually courageous, faced the sand people in battle.

After a chaotic and intense battle, most of the sand people were eliminated, and the Golden Ants scattered and fled. At this moment, a figure rushed towards Chang Dong. She had long, disheveled hair, wore a tattered red dress, had a frighteningly thin neck, and wore a delicate necklace. It was none other than Kong Yang, the girl Chang Dong had recognized, with the necklace he had given her as a token of their love. Chang Dong immediately recognized her as Kong Yang but hesitated to act until the very last moment when he snapped her neck and knelt beside her, overwhelmed with grief.

Gao Shen and Ding Liu gathered some fuel and, under Ye Liuxi's orders, set it on fire in the stove. Soon, cries and pleas for mercy were heard from below. Ye Liuxi didn't actually want to take their lives but wanted to make these greedy beings suffer a bit. Lao Qian, A He, and Shu Tiao crawled out of the underground chamber and huddled in front of Ye Liuxi. Shu Tiao still had traces of chocolate sauce around his mouth, which made Ye Liuxi feel both disgusted and amused. She grabbed A He's hair, pretending to push her into the fire, causing A He to scream in fear. Even Fei Tang, who rarely displayed courage, found it unbelievable, and without thinking, he tried to intervene, scolding Lao Qian and the others for their ingratitude. Lao Qian took full responsibility, admitting that they were trying to steal their belongings to survive. Seeing that a sandstorm was approaching, they decided to take a gamble that the sand people would follow the sandstorm to their location.

The immediate priority was to burn these sand people as quickly as possible; otherwise, leaving a scent behind would attract more retaliation. Ye Liuxi understood that Chang Dong wanted to give Kong Yang a proper burial but was torn. Nevertheless, she followed Lao Qian's method to deal with the situation. Shu Tiao cleaned up the courtyard, while A He and Lao Qian dragged the sand people outside. When it was Kong Yang's turn, Chang Dong scolded Lao Qian not to touch her.
