> Unusual Idol Love Recap

Ji Nian watched over Hu Li, urging him to maintain his amnesia and not fully awaken to reality. Hu Li, feeling hungry, asked Ji Nian to prepare him food. He mused that Ji Nian, despite claiming to be a rich girl, seemed to have forgotten her own story, calling it unprofessional.

As Ji Nian prepared to leave for work, she handed Hu Li an old mobile phone with her number saved in it, instructing him to contact her anytime he needed. She warned him that her "parents" were actively searching for them, so he must not leave the house and reveal his whereabouts. Hu Li understood, likening their situation to a modern-day Romeo and Juliet story.

Ji Nian admitted to having exaggerated their "love story" to impress upon him the seriousness of their predicament, though she maintained that their affection was "more genuine than diamonds," with only slightly exaggerated descriptions. She proposed they seek her parents' approval once they calmed down. Ji Nian then claimed their financial situation was dire, unable to afford internet or cable TV, apologizing that he would be bored at home.

Playing along, Hu Li assured her that his boredom was insignificant compared to her hardships. Before she left, Hu Li stopped her, requesting a "goodbye kiss" after their long separation. Ji Nian quickly dodged the advance, saying his body was still recovering and couldn't handle such intimacy, promising "next time." Alone in the house, Hu Li found everything unfamiliar. He wondered about his true identity, believing Ji Nian held the answers, and in turn, questioned who she really was.

Driven by this curiosity, he discreetly followed Ji Nian to her workplace, the Smile Cafe. There, Ji Nian's friend, Luo Li, mistook the masked Hu Li for a stalker and knocked him unconscious. Ji Nian tried to pacify a confused Luo Li, vaguely explaining that she would tell her everything later. She then confronted Hu Li for disobeying her instructions and following her, scolding him like a child.

Hu Li feigned fear and loneliness, claiming he only recognized her and felt miserable without her, even pointing to his minor injury from Luo Li as proof. He inwardly noted it was his turn to display his acting skills. Ji Nian grew frustrated, asking why he was suddenly acting cute, but Hu Li insisted he was genuinely expressing his feelings. He observed her increased heart rate, flushed eyes, and flushed ears, concluding she was embarrassed.

Ji Nian reiterated that his unauthorized outing could lead to her "parents" discovering them. Hu Li countered that being confined at home led to overthinking his identity and feeling useless while his "girlfriend" worked hard outside, questioning if he had always been a freeloader. He dramatically threatened to become depressed and commit suicide.

Ji Nian quickly urged him not to mention suicide and to promise to live on, to which Hu Li responded that he only wanted to be by her side. Suddenly, Song Mengmeng arrived at the cafe, calling for Ji Nian. Ji Nian told Hu Li to stay upstairs while she dealt with the "nuisance." Song Mengmeng gloated about her boyfriend, Brother Yuan, having tried to visit Ji Nian the previous day, only to be turned away.

She then sarcastically offered Ji Nian business, implying Ji Nian was jobless and dependent on the cafe. Song Mengmeng requested Ji Nian bake a cake for Brother Yuan's upcoming birthday, knowing Ji Nian knew his taste best. Ji Nian bluntly refused, stating her cakes were "not for ex-boyfriends and dogs." Song Mengmeng retorted that if she could "snatch him away," he was never truly Ji Nian's, and that it had been ages ago.

Hu Li, having come downstairs, stepped in, agreeing it had been "ages," and provocatively asked why Song Mengmeng and her "boyfriend" were still "haunting" Ji Nian. He challenged Song Mengmeng to introduce her "new boyfriend" who couldn't even show his face. Song Mengmeng, offended, flaunted a "royal brand from Belgium" handbag from Brother Yuan, asking if Ji Nian and Hu Li could afford to replace it if it was damaged.

Hu Li asserted his right as Ji Nian's boyfriend to "save his damsel in distress," then meticulously pointed out several flaws in the bag's leather, stitching, logo texture, and size, concluding it was a cheap, poorly made imitation and suggested she use it for grocery shopping. Humiliated, Song Mengmeng dismissed them as "crazy people" and left. Ji Nian scolded Hu Li for disobeying her, but he claimed he was worried she would be bullied.

Ji Nian relented and told him to go cook. Luo Li pulled Ji Nian aside, questioning if she was engaging in illegal activities to earn money quickly. Ji Nian vehemently denied it, admitting she had received some money but only to "temporarily look after him." She promised to explain everything once the situation was resolved. Luo Li expressed her concern, warning Ji Nian that she was "playing with fire."

Ji Nian, in turn, asked Luo Li to help her "keep an eye on him" when she wasn't around. Meanwhile, Bai Dongchen usurped Hu Li's villa and other assets, arranged by their company, after Hu Li's presumed death. Quietly returning to China, Zhou Yifei entered the villa, firmly believing Hu Li was still alive and determined to find him. She confronted Bai Dongchen, who was now living there, accusing him of exploiting Hu Li's disappearance for his own gain.

Despite Bai Dongchen's insistence that Hu Li was dead, Zhou Yifei refused to leave, proclaiming she would wait for Hu Li's return. Out of concern, Bai Dongchen allowed her to stay. Hu Li, realizing his charade was in jeopardy, understood he needed to secure a position at the cafe. He noticed a piano and despite Ji Nian's warnings that the owner, Fiona, would be furious if anyone touched it, he sat down and began to play.

Fiona, initially angered, quickly became deeply moved by the melody. She revealed that the song reminded her of her late husband, with whom she had fallen in love when he played that very piece. She had not heard it since his passing. Seizing the emotional moment, Hu Li fabricated a poignant tale of meeting his own "girlfriend" through the same song, her subsequent death from leukemia, and his inability to play it again until that day.

He apologized for stirring her painful memories. Ji Nian, observing, was impressed by his convincing acting. Fiona, genuinely touched, offered Hu Li a job at the cafe starting the next day, with the same salary and benefits as the other employees, stating he fit the cafe's atmosphere perfectly. Hu Li gratefully offered to play another song in thanks. He later realized his "superstar's brilliance" needed to be better concealed.

Ji Nian tried various disguises on him, including a Fiona-inspired wig (which he found "too dumb") and glasses. She insisted on the glasses, telling him not to stare at her or remove them, then went to trim his hair. Hu Li pondered Ji Nian's shyness and questioned the authenticity of their fabricated relationship, deciding to test her. Meanwhile, Ji Nian was in her room, calculating her debt, her average monthly income, and Hu Li's "remaining value" in their arrangement.

She made a phone call to her mother, reassuring her that she would repay the debts soon and pursue her dream of becoming an excellent reporter. Hu Li entered her room without knocking. He expressed appreciation for her hard work at the cafe, acknowledging the hardships she had endured. Despite his amnesia, he promised to work hard to earn money and open a larger cafe with her, making her the boss.

Ji Nian was confused by his sudden change in demeanor, wondering if he was ill. Hu Li then told her he only had her now, and suggested they "sleep together." Ji Nian immediately recoiled, insisting their relationship was based on "platonic love," pure and innocent, never crossing boundaries. Hu Li questioned if they didn't even share a goodnight kiss. Ji Nian vehemently refused, arguing that since he had amnesia, kissing him would be taking advantage of him and unfair.

Hu Li seemed to accept her reasoning, but then asked if they had always slept together. Panicked, Ji Nian quickly offered him the bed, saying she would sleep upstairs, and wished him goodnight as she hurried away. Hu Li noticed she had dropped a notebook. He picked it up, asking what it was. Ji Nian, flustered, called it her "budget planner." Hu Li, intrigued by its "mysterious" nature, teased her, asking if it contained her "longing for him." Ji Nian denied it, and they began to struggle playfully over the notebook. In their struggle, they accidentally fell onto the bed, their lips meeting in a surprise kiss.
