Ling Heqing lamented the decline of the Huangji Jingtian sect, feeling that without it, no one could predict Kyushu's future or impending dangers. Mu Yunde, revealed to be Muyun Luan's son, then appeared, offering to help Ling Heqing restore the sect's former glory if Ling Heqing would use the Huanhua secret art to enthrall someone, making them a slave. Ling Heqing denied knowing the art.
At this point, Mo Yuchen (also referred to as Mr. Mo), directly used the Huanhua secret art on Ling Heqing, turning him into his slave. Mo Yuchen explained that he chose Ling Heqing because if people didn't completely lose faith in Ling Heqing, they wouldn't truly trust and admire the Winged tribe's Mo Shuan.
On the Hanzhou battlefield, during a truce in the Muru and Helan tribes' battle, the Muru soldiers suffered from hunger despite having the upper hand, while the Helan feasted. Shuofeng Heye and Muyun Yanshuang were together. Muyun Yanshuang reminded Shuofeng Heye that she remembered each of the nineteen Muru soldiers of the Great Duan dynasty he killed, declaring she would never forget this in her lifetime.
Shuofeng Heye, whose ambition was to conquer all of Kyushu, countered by asking why she didn't count the Hanzhou people killed by Muru soldiers. He predicted she would eventually forget her Muyun surname, as the Great Duan dynasty would vanish and the Muyun surname would disappear, ending all their hatred. Muyun Yanshuang bitterly stated she would never forget this day's events.
As they looked at the stars, acknowledging this rare peaceful moment together on the battlefield, Shuofeng Heye promised to wait for her for life if she forgot her surname. Muyun Yanshuang responded that she would wait for him if he stopped rebelling against the Great Duan dynasty. Despite their love and mutual desire to overcome their hatred, they were unable to escape their fated destiny and the deep-seated animosity between their factions.
Tie Yuan approached Shuofeng Heye, openly declaring his sole ambition was to become King of Kyushu, for which he fought relentlessly. He stated he loved being king, power, and seeing the world change because of him, which required him to remain clear-headed, unlike Shuofeng Heye, whom he envied for fighting without being consumed by desire.
He told Shuofeng Heye to take care of himself in the battle, so he could witness Tie Yuan's ascension to the throne, aiming to prove that desire combined with clear-headedness was more effective than kindness. Earlier, Tie Yuan had questioned his subordinates if they viewed him as merely a man hiding behind a woman, seeing Shuofeng Heye as the true "Tie Qin," a question they feared to answer.
Shuofeng Heye, however, disavowed the title of "Tie Qin," stating he only wished to protect his family and brothers, like his father. Tie Yuan dismissed this, reminding Shuofeng Heye that his father was dead and he himself could no longer remember his own father's appearance, before shouting at Muru Hanshan. The next day, a torrential downpour began in Hanzhou, with dark clouds, lightning, and thunder.
Shuofeng Heye shielded Muyun Yanshuang from the rain with his cloak as the Muru iron cavalry and Helan tribe, led by Tie Yuan, launched a new offensive. After days of battle and hunger, the Muru forces were weakened and began to lose ground, but not a single Muru soldier deserted; they fought for their family's honor until their last breath. Both Shuofeng Heye and Muyun Yanshuang were numbed by the sight of countless Hanzhou people and Muru cavalry falling.
In Tianqi City, Nanku Mingyi, held in the imperial prison, vented her frustration on her maid, A Shan. A Shan informed Nanku Mingyi that her son, Muyun He Ge, had safely returned from Hanzhou. Nanku Mingyi expressed her longing to see Muyun He Ge, and A Shan promised to arrange a meeting for them. A Shan then collected Nanku Mingyi's poems written for Muyun Qin, hoping to move him and secure Nanku Mingyi's pardon.
In Weiping Studio, Mu Ruhanjiang learned from Muyun Sheng that he could no longer concentrate due to being afflicted by the Corpse Lu Needle, prompting Mu Ruhanjiang to consider seeking a cure. However, Mu Ruhanjiang was then approached by Mo Yuchen, who presented an item belonging to Su Yuning (either half of her sword tassel or her bracelet, as mentioned in separate accounts) and falsely claimed that Su Yuning wished to meet him, asking Mu Ruhanjiang to follow him.
Despite his doubts, Mu Ruhanjiang, concerned for Su Yuning, followed Mo Yuchen. A Shan and Wu Ruyi pleaded with Yu Xinji to allow them entry to Muyun Qin's imperial bedchamber. Yu Xinji, moved by A Shan's persistent kowtowing, granted them passage. However, events took an unexpected turn inside. Muyun Sheng arrived at the palace with a portrait of Yin Rong, intending to see Muyun Qin.
He discovered numerous bodies outside Muyun Qin's bedchamber and found Yu Xinji unconscious on the ground. Mu Ruhanjiang, covered in blood and stumbling, emerged from the bedchamber, repeatedly urging Muyun Sheng to flee. Confused, Muyun Sheng entered to find Muyun Qin dead. He attempted to revive Muyun Qin with a secret art he previously used successfully, but it failed.
Yu Xinji regained consciousness and entered the bedchamber, also discovering Muyun Qin's death and expressing his shock and grief, accusing Mu Ruhanjiang of destroying 300 years of Muru family loyalty. Wu Ruyi then accused Mu Ruhanjiang of killing both A Shan and Muyun Qin. Muyun Sheng initially disbelieved the accusation and confronted Mu Ruhanjiang, who remained silent, reiterating his plea for Muyun Sheng to escape. Subsequently, Wu Ruyi and Yu Xinji both shouted that Mu Ruhanjiang had committed regicide.
Before Muyun Sheng could fully understand the unfolding events, Muyun He Ge suddenly arrived with his troops. Wu Ruyi, as if premeditated, loudly shouted that Mu Ruhanjiang had committed regicide. Muyun He Ge seized this opportunity, killing Wu Ruyi with a sword, capturing Mu Ruhanjiang, and thus solidifying the accusation of his guilt.
