In the early morning, Ziyan, relying on or embracing Tie Yuan, revealed she was pregnant. Tie Yuan was overjoyed, wanting to give her the best in the world and promising to seize anything she desired. Ziyan reminded him to be wary of Shuofeng Heye, fearing Heye would endanger Tie Yuan's status as the "Iron Qin." Tie Yuan, however, dismissed her concerns, stating that the slaughter of the Suqin tribe by the Shuofeng tribe was a matter of years past.
He stressed that during such critical times, with the five tribes finally allied, internal strife must be avoided, and Ziyan should set aside her old grudge. Although displeased, Ziyan agreed to listen to Tie Yuan, but also firmly stated she was not only his woman but also the leader of the Suqin tribe. She felt a conflicted love and hatred for Tie Yuan, as he had also previously massacred her tribe.
Despite wanting to let go of everything for their child and ride the plains together, the recent events involving the Suqin tribe reopened her unresolved wounds. After returning to the Suqin tribe from the Helan tribe, Ziyan supervised the mining department, ordering accelerated extraction and forging of weapons for Tie Yuan's troops. Simultaneously, Muru Hanjiang captured Suqin miners high in the mountains.
When they refused to disclose the Helan tribe's main camp location, Hanjiang broke the Northern Land's rule against killing women and children shorter than a horse's back, slaughtering them all. He coldly stated that sparing them would only waste food. Hanjiang later felt distraught and burdened by guilt over his actions. In Wei Ping Zhai, Yu Xinji presented Muyun Sheng with a list of ministers who had attended the palace banquet.
He urged Muyun Sheng to abandon revenge, asserting that even successful vengeance could not bring Yinrong and Pan Xi back to life. Muyun Sheng retorted by asking Yu Xinji to consider his position, as his two beloved women had died unjustly, and he could not tolerate such a situation. Recalling what Mu Yunde had said, Muyun Sheng decided he would not endure such an insult.
While Yu Xinji warned that an emperor's selfishness would doom the nation and implored Muyun Sheng to consider the people, Muyun Sheng claimed he carried the people in his heart, yet observed that no one in court truly cared for the realm and its populace. Unable to discern good from evil or right from wrong, he resolved to let the world judge, to show everyone who truly disappointed them.
Seeing Muyun Sheng's determination, Yu Xinji handed him the ancestral training of the Muru Iron Cavalry and departed. Muyun Sheng took direct action, bringing Yuan Haiqing, an official guilty of embezzlement, to Muyun Qin's bedchamber. However, Muyun Qin still refused to meet anyone. Learning of Yuan Haiqing's exposure, Xue Huo ordered his men to fake Yuan Haiqing's suicide and resolved to eliminate Muyun Sheng.
Soon after, Muyun Sheng's personal maid, Xi Liu, attempted to assassinate him in Wei Ping Zhai while combing his hair. Protected by his secret arts, Muyun Sheng was unharmed. Xi Liu confessed that the common people were aware of the palace struggles and believed killing Muyun Sheng was the only path to peace. Hearing she acted for the people, Muyun Sheng released her, hoping she would eventually understand true peace.
Before leaving, Xi Liu warned him that she was merely a small piece in a larger scheme, and Wei Ping Zhai would never again know peace. The next day, Muyun Sheng brought Qin Rujing (also referred to as Wu Rujing), a five-rank official responsible for military provisions, who had mismanaged or embezzled supplies. Muyun Sheng forced Muyun Qin to face Qin Rujing about the withholding of Muru Iron Cavalry's rations.
Muyun Sheng stated that such corruption was rampant in court and he would gradually expose it all to the emperor. Muyun Qin finally opened his doors, ordering Wu Ruyi to keep his meeting with Qin Rujing secret and assigning Muru Hanchuan to deal with Qin Rujing, who had jeopardized battle opportunities. Qin Rujing, terrified, pleaded for mercy.
Muru Hanchuan, a Muru by surname, angrily declared that while Muru sons fought valiantly in Hanzhou, Qin Rujing endangered 20,000 soldiers by withholding their provisions. He then ordered Qin Rujing killed by many swords. Muru Hanchuan also killed other officials caught traveling to Hanzhou, hoping Muru Suo would become disheartened with the emperor. Hanchuan knew Muyun Qin still cared for the Muru family and silently prayed Muru Suo could endure this difficult period.
In Hanzhou, with the heavy snow sealing the mountains and the Helan tribe's provisions dwindling, Muru Suo was deeply worried. Despite the capture of poachers, Tie Yuan remained inactive. Muru Hanjiang approached Muru Suo, confessing he had killed the Suqin women and children. Muru Suo was furious, asserting that such an act broke the Northern Land's rules.
Hanjiang, facing everyone's disbelief, argued that this drastic measure was the only way to compel the Hanzhou people to engage in battle, as otherwise, with their supplies depleted, the Muru Iron Cavalry would starve on the plains. Hanjiang accepted the infamy for himself for his entire life, stating that victory was paramount. Muru Suo, profoundly disappointed and seeing Hanjiang's true heart in this act, slapped him and demanded his military seal.
Later, Muyun Han and Muyun Yanshuang caught up to Muru Hanjiang. Muyun Han tried to console him, suggesting Muru Suo was only angry, but Hanjiang vowed to prove he was not wrong and had never disappointed Muru Suo. Upon learning of the slaughter of her tribal women and children, Ziyan stormed into the camp, pleading with Tie Yuan to dispatch troops for revenge. Tie Yuan remained silent, which Ziyan interpreted as hesitation influenced by Shuofeng Heye.
She provocatively told Tie Yuan that Heye was the true decision-maker for the five allied tribes, and the actual "Iron Qin" in the hearts of the other four tribal leaders was Heye. As the snow stopped, signaling the impending winter for Hanzhou and Muru, Dan Yao Amu tasked Shuofeng Heye to meet Tueduo, who was out searching for new grain transport routes. Heye went to the seashore, where he waited for Tueduo.
Tueduo was delighted to see Heye, who casually stated he was picking golden jade and merely picking her up. Heye's words warmed Tueduo's heart, and she reaffirmed her feelings for him. Heye, however, avoided the topic, instructing her to return to camp and not venture out alone, given the Muru Iron Cavalry's widespread hunts for Hanzhou people. Tueduo acknowledged the danger but explained that not finding new supply routes posed an even greater threat. She urged Heye to protect himself, revealing that all her efforts for Tie Yuan were ultimately to pave the way for Heye to become king someday.
