At Weiping Zhai, the automatically unlocked door and strange flower-shaped pattern made of petals and stones/sand led guards to discuss their fears of Muyun Sheng, referring to him as a Mei spirit and deeming him dangerous. Yu Xinji, angered by the slander, defended Muyun Sheng, who had never harmed anyone, and ordered the guards to keep silent about the incident.

Entering the room, Yu Xinji confirmed Muyun Sheng's secret art was complete and advised him to exercise self-restraint to avoid disturbing the common people. Muyun Sheng found this laughable, likening himself to a fish at the mercy of others, and questioned who truly caused whom fear. Meanwhile, in the imperial palace, Muyun Luan and Empress Nanku Mingyi plotted against Muyun Sheng.

The Empress was determined to eliminate Muyun Sheng, believing his death was the only way for Emperor Muyun Qin to favor her son, Hego. Muyun Luan initially hesitated, seeing the assassination of a crown prince as a capital offense, but the Empress reminded him that his ambition for the throne meant he should be prepared to risk his entire Yewang Mansion.

She further asserted that Muyun Luan was not truly helping her, but rather seeking the supreme position for himself, and threatened to ensure he would never achieve it. Admiring her shrewdness, Muyun Luan agreed to proceed with her plan. Their conversation was overheard by a palace maid/showgirl, whom the Empress immediately ordered Wu Ruyi to strangle and bury in the lake to prevent any leaks. Muyun Luan also discussed his plans with Muyun De.

While Muyun De acknowledged Muyun Luan's desire to eliminate Muyun Sheng, Muyun Luan revealed his prior attempt to poison Muyun Sheng's wine, clarifying that the initial target had been Pan Xi, who was now dead. Muyun Luan praised Muyun De's recent growth but asserted that his current primary target was Muru Suo, whom he considered Muyun Qin's sole reliance, intending to remove him to weaken the Emperor.

To this end, Muyun Luan bribed Xue Huo to impeach Muru Suo in court. At the Hanzhou front, Muyun Han arrived, personally escorting粮草 (grain and fodder) and delivering Emperor Muyun Qin's decree and encouraging message to Muru Suo and the Muru Iron Cavalry. Muyun Qin's continued trust in Muru Suo, despite recent defeats, deeply moved the general.

Muru Suo, along with Muru Han Shan and other soldiers, swore an oath not to return to the capital until the rebel forces were utterly defeated. During a strategy meeting in the camp, Muru Suo and Muru Han Shan debated various approaches to quelling the rebellion. Muru Suo decided to cut off the rebels' salt supply to disrupt their provisions.

Muru Han Shan, however, proposed a direct assault on the Helan Tribe's main camp to defeat Helan Tieyuan and Shuofeng Heye. Another officer suggested using Princess Muyun Yanshuang as bait to lure out Shuofeng Heye, citing rumors of her spending over a month with him, supposedly under a secret art.

Muru Suo adamantly rejected this "despicable" and unheroic method, but Muru Han Shan insisted it was a worthy sacrifice to secure the Muru family's honor and end the conflict, arguing that the current dynasty differed greatly from its founding 300 years ago. Their disagreement led to a heated father-son dispute. Muyun Han, having overheard the discussion, requested to see Muyun Yanshuang.

He found her in the horse stables, wearing shackles and working as self-punishment, blaming herself for the Hanzhou rebellion and the death of Gusu Songtuo. She confessed that the rumors were not unfounded: she had not been under a secret art but had willingly left with Shuofeng Heye, losing her heart to him.

Muyun Han comforted her, telling her it wasn't her fault, then embraced her and proposed marriage, urging her to forget the past and Shuofeng Heye and start anew with him. Muyun Yanshuang pushed him away, drew a short dagger, and cut her hair, declaring that "Jing Princess Muyun Yanshuang" was dead, and from that moment, only "dead soldier Muyun Yanshuang" remained. Seeing her resolve, Muyun Han, heartbroken, could only ask her to become his personal guard.

Muyun Yanshuang vowed to protect him, promising to always stand before him in danger. Muyun Han smiled bitterly, instructing her to return with him to report to the court, admitting he himself was unsure from which direction danger would come in the capital. Back in the imperial city, Muyun Sheng, now keenly aware of the need for power to protect what he cherished, donned formal attire and, disregarding Yu Xinji's attempts to stop him, resolved to attend court.

He went to a tranquil palace lake, where he reminisced about Pan Xi and, realizing she could never return, cast the Muyun Pearl into the water. In the imperial court, Emperor Muyun Qin angrily chastised officials, particularly Xue Huo, for unauthorized peace talks that had resulted in a slain envoy and brought shame to the Great Duan Dynasty. Xue Huo deflected blame onto Muru Suo, attributing the disgrace to his repeated defeats in Hanzhou.

Gusu Songzhi, bearing injuries, arrived and, despite Muyun Qin's continued resentment towards him, fiercely accused Muru Suo of incompetence and mismanaging the Hanzhou situation, causing the dynasty to lose prestige. He adamantly demanded Muru Suo's military power be stripped, a sentiment echoed by many kneeling officials, leaving Muyun Qin in a difficult position due to the 300-year alliance. At this critical moment, Muyun Sheng dramatically burst into the imperial hall.

Refusing to kneel, he declared he would only kneel to those he truly respected. Enraged, Muyun Qin ordered his guards to remove him, but Muyun Sheng, unleashing his secret art, killed the obstructing guards. Ministers scattered in fear. The Emperor demanded to know what he wanted. Muyun Sheng calmly stated that human hearts were far more terrifying than any secret art, and he intended to see how the world would now judge him.
