Muyun Luan questions Muyun De about why he didn't kill Nanku Yueli, asking if he intended for the Emperor to discover the affair and deal with him. Muyun De confesses he simply likes Nanku Yueli, drawing a parallel to Muyun Luan's own feelings for Empress Nanku. To save Nanku Yueli's life, Muyun De offers to conceal Muruping's actions as a spy in exchange for Muyun Luan keeping his secret regarding Empress Nanku.
Muyun Luan, acknowledging Muyun De as his son, reminds him that Muruping, despite their long shared history, is merely a Mu Ru clan spy and not family, devoid of any genuine affection. Meanwhile, Eunuch Jiang forcibly takes Su Yuning against her will. Mu Ruhanjiang, as the third young master of the Mu Ru family, rushes into the Imperial City on horseback, but arrives too late to prevent her departure.
He finds a hairpin on a table and urgently uses it to track her. In a corridor, he finds Su Yuning already dressed in her grand engagement attire. Seeing him, Su Yuning is filled with joy and rushes to meet him, ordering her attendants, including Wu Ruyi, to step aside.
Mu Ruhanjiang initially wanted to speak with her, but remembering the words of Muru Shuo and Hanshan, and considering Su Yuning's destiny and her elaborate attire, he misinterprets her situation, believing she chose the Empress's position over him. He merely states he "just came to see" her, then steps aside and bows coldly. Mu Ruhanjiang's coldness deeply disappoints Su Yuning, who, despite wanting to explain, cries as she slowly walks past him. Both are left heartbroken.
Inside the palace, attendants meticulously prepare for the evening's court and wedding banquets. A eunuch secretly swaps the wine bottle at the Crown Prince's table. In his bamboo house, Muyun Sheng, after looking at the "Phantom Spirit Book" left by Pan Xi (which he considers the most important thing to him besides the Muyun Pearl), places a treasured book into a box.
He then puts on his Phantom Pearl and changes into his Crown Prince's ceremonial robes, aided by Yu Xinji, who is contemplating the night's events. Meanwhile, Muyun Luan and Muyun Han enter the palace for the banquet. Muyun Han, despite his reluctance to harm his own kin, has hardened his heart to participate in the conspiracy to ensure no regrets. He tells Muyun Luan that things must be done, and once decided, there's no regret.
This deeply affects Muyun Luan, who believes the banquet will bring a great change to the Muyun dynasty. At the palace gate, Muyun Lu follows palace attendants, observing Muyun Luan and Muyun Han walking together. Su Yuning's carriage stops, and she steps out, dressed in grand red engagement attire. Muyun Lu, also heading to the banquet, encounters her.
Deeply saddened by the sight of his beloved about to marry someone else, he reflects on how their circumstances and statuses have changed. He bows to Su Yuning according to etiquette, and she respectfully bows back. Muyun Luan, noticing Muyun Lu's evident unwillingness to accept his fate, approaches him. Muyun Lu states that he has only learned to obey his Imperial Father's commands. Despite his outward obedience, Muyun Lu asks Su Yuning if she is truly willing in her heart.
She remains silent until they part, then reluctantly tells him she is willing. After Su Yuning leaves, Muyun Lu meets Muyun Han and others. Seeing Muyun Lu in tears, Muyun Luan stands beside him, subtly provoking him against Muyun Qin and Muyun Sheng. Muyun Lu remembers Muyun Qin's teaching that the imperial family leaves no room for emotion. However, Muyun Luan dismisses this, arguing that imperial family members are still human with emotions.
He expresses understanding for Muyun Lu's current feelings, likening it to his own experience of watching Nanku Mingyi marry Muyun Qin. Outside his bamboo house, Muyun Sheng notices Yu Xinji's frantic and persistent urging to enter the palace, as the banquet time has already passed. Muyun Sheng asks Yu Xinji why he is so anxious and if he has always looked down on him.
Yu Xinji replies he is concerned for the Crown Prince, then kneels and respectfully sees him off. Meanwhile, the banquet proceeds as scheduled in the palace. Crown Prince Muyun Sheng's continued absence greatly displeases Emperor Muyun Qin, who orders the banquet to begin without him. Palace attendants relay the command, and servants quickly bring in wine and delicacies. Muyun Sheng understands Yu Xinji's dissatisfaction with him. At the banquet, Emperor Muyun Qin uses the opportunity to test Muyun Luan.
He raises his wine cup to Muyun Luan, mentioning rumors he has heard and asking if Muyun Luan has any grievances. Muyun Luan, being cunning, kneels and hastily declares his loyalty, begging the Emperor to punish him. Muyun Qin, though aware of Muyun Luan's true intentions, smiles and plays along, enacting a show of deep brotherly affection. He helps Muyun Luan up and tells Muyun Han and Muyun Lu to learn from their bond, holding Muyun Luan as an example.
After Muyun Luan returns to his seat, Emperor Muyun Qin raises his cup again, expressing his confidence in Muyun Sheng and hoping everyone will support him to become king. Just then, Muyun Sheng arrives late. Muyun Luan specifically stands up to bow to him. Muyun Sheng kneels and walks to the center of the hall, apologizing to the Emperor for his tardiness.
The banquet, though appearing joyous, is fraught with hidden tension, as Muyun Sheng is aware of the underlying conspiracy. Muyun Qin orders Muyun Sheng to self-penalize with a cup of wine. Remembering something Lanyuer said, Muyun Sheng initially refuses. Muyun Qin insists, so Muyun Sheng drinks the specific wine handed to him by a eunuch, which is the wine Muyun Qin offers him. However, he refuses the Empress's toast.
Muyun Luan and Muyun Han's carefully planned conspiracy relies entirely on Muyun Sheng drinking the wine and wielding a sword. To ensure this, Muyun Han publicly presents his gift to Muyun Sheng: a wooden sword. Seeing the sword in the hall, Emperor Muyun Qin becomes furious. Muyun Sheng's destiny dictates he must not wield a sword, and he has always avoided iron weapons, making Muyun Han's act a clear provocation.
Seeing Muyun Qin's anger, Muyun Han quickly defends himself, clarifying that it is indeed a wooden sword, specifically crafted for Muyun Sheng. He explains that as a Crown Prince, Muyun Sheng should carry a sword to avoid being looked down upon by others. This explanation draws laughter from others at the banquet, who find it ridiculous that the Crown Prince needs to pretend with a wooden sword.
Just as Muyun Qin is about to get angry again, Muyun Sheng announces he will accept the gift. Muyun Han personally steps forward and hands the wooden sword to Muyun Sheng. Muyun Sheng states he likes the sword and believes Muyun Han truly cares for him. To thank Muyun Han for his intentions, Muyun Sheng decides to raise his cup and drink with him.
