Muyun De, heavily intoxicated, arrived at the Kyushu Inn, where Lanyuer waited for him, pulling him into a room. Lanyuer, as always, showed him devoted care, cleaning blood from his face and preparing fruit puree for him. However, Muyun De expressed strong resentment for her actions, angrily throwing the bowl and calling her a mere servant.

He told her he had only taken her from Muyun Sheng out of a natural desire to snatch things, and now that the novelty had faded, her submissive demeanor annoyed him. He then ordered her to work in the kitchen as a cook starting the next day. Meanwhile, Muyun Sheng, back in his bamboo house, learned that Mu Ruhanjiang was confined within the Muru Residence by Muru Shuo. Despite Yu Xinji's advice, Muyun Sheng resolved to visit his friend.

At the Muru Residence, Mu Ruhanjiang was guarded by Hanshan. Determined to escape, Mu Ruhanjiang engaged Hanshan in a struggle. During their confrontation, Mu Ruhanjiang unexpectedly overheard from a maid or servants that Emperor Muyun Qin had arranged a betrothal between Crown Prince Muyun Sheng and Su Yuning. Greatly agitated, Mu Ruhanjiang became more resolute in his desire to escape and rescue Su Yuning.

Hanshan, however, stopped him, warning that if he were to act impulsively, hundreds of lives within the Muru Residence and the Muru and Su families would face grave danger, and the guards outside would immediately commit suicide in atonement. Being kind-hearted, Mu Ruhanjiang, despite his strong desire to take Su Yuning away, was forced to return to his room to spare the innocent lives. Mu Ruhanjiang and Hanshan then discussed their philosophies of life.

Mu Ruhanjiang believed that the most important thing in life was freedom. Hanshan, though envious of freedom, firmly stated that as a Muru, his sole path was to move forward, fulfill Muru Shuo's aspirations, and become a great general. Muyun Sheng, as Crown Prince, arrived at the Muru Residence, led by Muru Shuo to the ancestral hall where Mu Ruhanjiang was kneeling, unmoving.

Muyun Sheng spoke to him, but Mu Ruhanjiang, cold and distant due to the matter of Su Yuning, refused to acknowledge Muyun Sheng, stating he wasn't "there." Muyun Sheng left, promising to return. After Muyun Sheng's departure, Muru Shuo ordered Mu Ruhanjiang to be shackled once more and confined to his room. Muru Shuo stated his belief that Muyun Sheng was destined to become Emperor and Su Yuning Empress, fulfilling their star prophecy.

He also believed Mu Ruhanjiang's own star prophecy destined him to contend for the throne with Muyun Sheng, and Muru Shuo declared he would rather keep Mu Ruhanjiang confined for life than allow that prophecy to come true. Mu Ruhanjiang expressed sadness, noting that Muyun Sheng also carried a prophecy of causing widespread suffering, yet Muru Shuo's attitude towards them differed significantly.

Muru Shuo, upholding the Muru ancestors' promise to protect the Muyun clan, asserted that even if the Muyun family erred, the Muru family must not make any mistakes. This declaration disheartened Mu Ruhanjiang completely, and he resolved to remain confined in the Muru Residence, intending to observe Muru Shuo come to understand what truly constituted an error. Muyun Sheng, dejected by Mu Ruhanjiang's refusal to acknowledge him, retreated to the bamboo pavilion.

Pan Xi, equally troubled by Muyun Sheng's arranged betrothal, tried to console him, asking what "betrothal" meant. Muyun Sheng explained it as his father selecting a lifelong partner for him. Upon hearing this, Pan Xi reminded Muyun Sheng that Mu Ruhanjiang was upset about Su Yuning, and then mysteriously vanished, causing Muyun Sheng to search for her. However, he also felt pleased, believing her disappearance indicated her deep care for him.

At this time, Yu Xinji arrived with a large stack of official palace documents, urging Muyun Sheng to attend to them. Muyun Sheng, however, was uninterested and dismissed Yu Xinji, who sighed and recalled the night of Muyun Sheng's "demonization." After Yu Xinji left the Unpeaceful Study, Muyun De unexpectedly visited Yu Xinji and then took him to meet Muyun Luan and Muyun Han. Yu Xinji was greatly surprised to find Muyun Han allied with Muyun De and Muyun Luan.

Meanwhile, in an illusion, Aragami (or "a voice") reminded Pan Xi of her promise to help Muyun Sheng ascend to the throne in the human world, emphasizing that Su Yuning must be the sole Empress. Pan Xi questioned the reasons behind this. Aragami then revealed Muyun Sheng's prophecy: wielding the Emperor's Sword would cause widespread suffering throughout Kyushu.

However, Aragami clarified that the true subject of the prophecy was not Muyun Sheng; the real Emperor's Sword was the Cold Blade, whose owner, Mu Ruhanjiang, was destined for an irreconcilable, life-or-death struggle with Muyun Sheng. Su Yuning, Aragami explained, was the "weapon" or "bargaining chip" designed to provoke the two "Emperor Stars" into conflict and mutual destruction.

Pan Xi was deeply saddened, as since meeting Muyun Sheng, she had developed a heart, feelings, and emotions, and could not bear to see him with another woman. Aragami mocked Pan Xi's self-importance, telling her to look closely at her own body, asserting that she was merely a shadow and possessed no heart. Later that afternoon, Muyun Sheng, dressed in formal Crown Prince attire, returned to the Muru Residence to see Mu Ruhanjiang.

Muru Shuo, fearing Mu Ruhanjiang might cause harm or trouble, initially stood in Muyun Sheng's path, asking for his understanding, and positioned himself outside the Unpeaceful Study with a sword. However, at Muyun Sheng's insistence, Muru Shuo eventually stepped aside, then ordered the other guards to withdraw, choosing to guard the room himself. He feared that any offense Mu Ruhanjiang might commit against the Prince would bring ruin to the entire Muru clan.

Inside, Muyun Sheng saw Mu Ruhanjiang, who finally spoke to him, beginning with a bow. Muyun Sheng stated he did not mind Mu Ruhanjiang's cold demeanor, emphasizing that he genuinely considered Mu Ruhanjiang his only true friend. Mu Ruhanjiang declared he would not contend for the world with Muyun Sheng, but firmly asserted he would not abandon Su Yuning.

When Muyun Sheng asked about the heroes Mu Ruhanjiang respected, he named Muyun Lu and Muyun Han, but expressed the greatest respect for his father, Muru Shuo, acknowledging Muru Shuo's undeniable righteousness and loyalty, despite Mu Ruhanjiang's personal refusal to acknowledge the Muru surname. Muru Shuo, listening from outside the room, was deeply touched. However, his happiness was short-lived as Mu Ruhanjiang then called his father "foolishly loyal" for supporting Muyun Sheng despite knowing Muyun Sheng's disinterest in becoming Emperor.

Mu Ruhanjiang asserted that if the prophecy of Muyun Sheng causing widespread suffering were to come true, all the Muru family's honor would be irrevocably destroyed. Enraged by these treasonous words, Muru Shuo burst into the room, intending to seize Mu Ruhanjiang, but Muyun Sheng intervened, blocking his father.

Muyun Sheng then confessed that Mu Ruhanjiang was his most respected hero, admiring how Mu Ruhanjiang, though born in the common world, possessed a noble surname, remained unfettered by societal rules, and could easily resolve the troubles that vexed others.

Muyun Sheng then posed a profound question to Mu Ruhanjiang, reminding him of the Muru clan's mission to maintain worldly order and protect the Muyun empire: if Muyun Sheng were one day to truly cause widespread suffering and bloodshed across Kyushu, what would Mu Ruhanjiang choose to do?
