Helan Tieyuan, forcing Satan, leads his group, including Shuofeng Heye, into the dark, foggy, and dangerous territory of the Danyao Tribe. Upon entering, they are immediately beset by illusions and traps, suffering heavy losses, and Satan is captured within the mist. Shuofeng Heye attempts to rescue Satan, but Tieyuan forbids it, asserting that the Shuofeng tribe no longer exists and that all are now subordinates of the Helan.
Shuofeng Heye counters by invoking Hanzhou custom, where comrades are never abandoned, prompting Tieyuan to grudgingly order a search. The Danyao Tribe's secret arts prove increasingly formidable. Spreading vines from the undergrowth attack their horses. Shuofeng Heye quickly senses the danger and advises Tieyuan to abandon their mounts, but Tieyuan stubbornly insists on reclaiming them. Only after he and his warhorse are directly attacked by the vines is Tieyuan compelled to abandon the horses and retreat from the Black Forest.
Simultaneously, the captured Satan is subjected to a ritual by an old woman of the Danyao tribe, who places a burning red charcoal on his forehead, causing an ominous pattern to emerge. By the river, Helan subordinates report their losses, including fallen warriors and nine of their finest warhorses, among them Muru Iron Cavalry's legendary Lingfeng.
Enraged by Shuofeng Heye's decision to abandon the horses to save their people, and resenting Shuofeng Heye's growing prestige among the subordinates, Tieyuan attempts to kill a Shuofeng tribesman who managed the horses, intending to assert his dominance.
Shuofeng Heye intervenes, and to save his tribesmen from Tieyuan's wrath, he agrees to Tieyuan's condition: he will venture alone into Hanzhou's northernmost Black Forest, a forbidden land said to be habitable only by the Snow Wolf King, to find the legendary Chilang Cavalry, a horse no one has ever truly seen.
Despite his tribesmen's desperate pleas against the perilous journey, Shuofeng Heye is resolute, departing with only his knife and axe, but not before warning Tieyuan that he will face deep regret if any Shuofeng tribesmen are harmed in his absence. Meanwhile, in Tianqi City, Muyun De recounts the legend of the Black Forest to Lan Yuer, describing it as an extremely cold and barren place where only the Snow Wolf King can survive.
As he speaks, Muyun De senses an unusual disturbance in the room and investigates. Time appears to freeze as a droplet of water falls, startling those inside. Muyun Sheng stands up just as Pan Xi, clad in white, manifests from the Muyun Magic Pearl. Muyun De, witnessing Pan Xi's ethereal beauty, tries to name her "Pinxian" on Muyun Sheng's behalf.
Pan Xi, questioning Muyun De's identity and displeased by his talkative nature, uses a secret art to send him and Lan Yuer back in time. Muyun De then finds himself back outside, answering Lan Yuer's questions about the Black Forest again, as if their prior conversation had merely restarted, even seeing a palace maid accidentally knock over laundry, repeating a past event. Inside the Magic Pearl's illusion, Muyun Sheng names her Pan Xi, a name she adores.
Pan Xi conjures an image of the Jiuzhou twelve Earth Stars, declaring them the source of all secret art power, and expresses her desire to teach Muyun Sheng. However, Muyun Sheng gently asks her to join him in simply admiring the beautiful starlit scene. Later, Muyun De, still feeling an oddness, re-enters the room and attempts to seize the Muyun Magic Pearl. Lan Yuer, fiercely protective of Muyun Sheng's treasured possession, reclaims it from him.
Muyun De, observing Lan Yuer's deep affection for Muyun Sheng, cunningly suggests that Pan Xi or the Pearl itself poses a danger to Muyun Sheng. Despite her initial wariness, Lan Yuer is gradually persuaded by Muyun De's arguments and agrees to lend him the Pearl, even revealing its mysterious origins.
Within the illusion, Pan Xi confides in Muyun Sheng that she has been hearing a persistent, unfamiliar voice instructing her to find, teach, and awaken someone, though she cannot recall the voice's source. They discuss the Yufeng Star, which Muyun Sheng fears sensing due to its potential to bring disaster upon the world. Pan Xi reassures him, explaining that all twelve stars are intrinsically connected, forming the body of the ancient god Huang.
She guides Muyun Sheng to perceive Huang directly, urging him to forget the Yufeng Star and recognize Huang as the true origin of his power. This revelation eases years of worry for Muyun Sheng, and he gratefully agrees to learn secret arts from Pan Xi, stipulating that he will do so without actively sensing star power.
Pan Xi then imparts the profound truth of secret arts: they do not exist as separate entities, but rather represent different ways of perceiving things. Only by transcending superficial appearances can one truly discover that the world holds no secrets. After imparting this wisdom, Pan Xi departs, instructing Muyun Sheng to seek her in the Pearl once he reaches a state where he can perceive "flowers are not flowers."
As Lan Yuer prepares to hand the Pearl to Muyun De, Muyun Sheng suddenly appears at the doorway, instructing her not to disturb him for several days. Muyun De, his mind still captivated by Pan Xi's beauty, subtly tries to discern if Muyun Sheng is learning secret arts, but Muyun Sheng dismisses him without further discussion. That night, Lan Yuer secretly steals the Magic Pearl and delivers it to Muyun De.
Muyun Sheng subsequently suffers a nightmare, envisioning Pan Xi and Muyun De together, with Pan Xi attacking him with a sword. Upon waking, Muyun Sheng frantically searches for the Pearl, only for Lan Yuer to present him with a fake one.
