Muyun Sheng secluded himself in his room, gripping the Muyun Pearl (also referred to as the magic pearl) and entering an illusion. Following Mr. Mo's advice, he focused on a terrible night and found himself confronting his other self, Yuanyou Mei (also referred to as a fiery man). Yuanyou Mei, defiant, declared himself to be Muyun Sheng and vowed to return someday.

Muyun Sheng attempted to slay Yuanyou Mei with a sword, but each strike inflicted pain upon himself, leading to his defeat. He was then either thrown to the sea level or rescued by Pan Xi (the Pearl Lady). Pan Xi appeared before Muyun Sheng, asking if he perceived the abnormality of their surroundings. Muyun Sheng observed the beautiful scenery, yet noticed its inherent isolation and lack of sound, feeling detached despite being immersed.

Pan Xi, who had lived a long and lonely existence within the pearl without a sense of time or order, with only the memory of an ocean, led him through various illusions, including a seaside and a bustling city, sharing aspects of her life. At the seaside, Muyun Sheng spotted a ship named "Heng Gong." Pan Xi then pointed into the distance before abruptly vanishing.

Muyun Sheng searched for her and decided to leave, but Pan Xi reappeared, having mistakenly believed he had departed. Moved by her beauty, Muyun Sheng offered to visit her frequently for conversation and to bestow a name upon her. However, he also inquired if she possessed any secret arts that could cure people, specifically to heal Emperor Muyun Qin.

Pan Xi, realizing his potential ulterior motive to learn her techniques, felt disappointed and angered, leading her to disappear or expel him from the illusion. Upon returning to reality, Muyun Sheng once again confined himself, refusing food or drink, and diligently researched secret arts with the aim of curing Muyun Qin. Lan Yuer, deeply concerned for Muyun Sheng's well-being, sought out Muyun De.

She informed him about Muyun Sheng having offended Pan Xi and revealed Pan Xi's mysterious origin from the sea. Mo Yuchen (also known as Mr. Mo) overheard this conversation and recalled a secret legend concerning a sea 魅灵 (a spirit from the sea) sealed within a magic pearl. He intervened, stopping Muyun De, who had been preparing to obtain "Kou Tian Ze" to kill for the pearl.

Instead, Mo Yuchen instructed Muyun De to assist Muyun Sheng in summoning Pan Xi to uncover her true origins. Muyun De then visited Muyun Sheng (either in Wei Ping Zhai or the bamboo house), observed his intense research into secret arts, and offered advice on how to appease an angry girl.

Concurrently, Mo Yuchen met a Chen Yue emissary (either outside the city or in a bamboo forest) to acquire ancient texts from Longyuan Pavilion, intending to research the origin of the sea 魅灵. Meanwhile, in the Grand Hall of Tian Qi City, as Emperor Muyun Qin's birthday approached, the Empress proposed a celebration. However, Muyun Qin suddenly fell ill and collapsed, throwing the court into a state of panic.

Imperial physicians were immediately summoned and diagnosed the Emperor as critically ill. Mu Rusuo, holding the position of Chief Secretariat, promptly sealed the news of the Emperor's illness. Following ancestral rules, he declared that if Muyun Qin had not designated a successor in writing, the eldest imperial son, Muyun Han, would be named the new Emperor (or Crown Prince).

Nanku Qi, though displeased, was bound by the ancestral rules and could not openly object, so he resorted to threatening Mu Rusuo using Mu Ruhanjiang. Servant Wu Ruyi reported the Emperor's critical condition and the absence of a successor decree to Muyun Hegao. Determined not to forgo his claim to the throne, Muyun Hegao expressed his desire to forge an imperial decree.

Wu Ruyi cautioned against this, emphasizing that Mu Rusuo's extensive familiarity with Muyun Qin's handwriting would make such a deception exceedingly difficult. Wu Ruyi then reminded Muyun Hegao of an ancestral agreement (or family law) that stipulated any descendant who successfully recovered the lost Imperial Jade Seal would be eligible to ascend as Emperor of the Great Duan Dynasty.

He advised Muyun Hegao to prioritize the search for the seal, but Muyun Hegao was initially reluctant to undertake such an arduous task for a centuries-old pact. Nanku Yueli secretly met with Muyun Hegao, revealing their existing romantic involvement. Muyun Hegao embraced her, passionately declared his affection, and promised her the world (or the throne), vowing to fulfill all her ambitions and grant her glory.

Nanku Yueli, in turn, disclosed her exceptional skill in imitating handwriting, a talent Muyun Hegao had known since their childhood. He attempted to persuade her to aid him in forging the decree and securing the imperial position, but Nanku Yueli, despite her consideration, did not readily agree, instead offering a soft laugh and withdrawing from his embrace, stating that she required more time to ponder the matter.

At the Mu Ru family home, the male members, including Mu Rusuo's sons, were observed practicing martial arts with Mu Rusuo in the training field, all clad in training attire. Mu Ru Furen diligently prepared their meals. Mu Rusuo, a man known for his unwavering commitment to duty, even engaged in discussions about official matters with his sons during their meal. After Han Shan reported on his allocated responsibilities, Mu Rusuo inquired about Mu Ruhanjiang's whereabouts.

He then issued a stern command to Han Shan: locate Mu Ruhanjiang within one month and forcibly escort him back to the Mu Ru mansion. He further decreed that should Mu Ruhanjiang resist, he was to be summarily executed on the spot. This harsh directive deeply distressed Mu Ru Furen, who was visibly saddened and shed tears.

Meanwhile, outside the city, beneath a waterfall, Mu Ruhanjiang was engaged in rigorous training and competitions with his comrades (or army brothers) from the Muru Iron Cavalry. He was specifically seen competing in a breath-holding challenge with his comrade Wang Yijia in the river, with two groups on the bank enthusiastically cheering them on. Mu Ruhanjiang ultimately emerged victorious, defeating Wang Yijia in their wager.
