To Be A Brave One Episode 2 Recap
> To Be A Brave One Recap
Shao Moli, whose primary task back in the country is the acquisition of Wei'er Hotel, arranged for Ye Kai to secretly rent the apartment next to An Yu and Lailai to be closer to An Yu. One evening, as Shao Moli was reflecting on a painting of An Yu, he was interrupted by the arrival of Chen Wei, the general manager of Wei'er Hotel, with several women, who immediately started a noisy party. The commotion woke An Yu and Lailai.
An Yu went to investigate and was surprised to find Shao Moli as her new neighbor. She simply asked him to turn down the music and left. Shao Moli, concerned about the misunderstanding, went to An Yu's apartment to explain that his clients had unexpectedly shown up for a party, and he himself found it too noisy.
Lailai excitedly gave him a tour of their apartment, mentioning that their washing machine was broken and they had a pile of dirty clothes. Shao Moli offered to cook instant noodles for them. While they ate, An Yu and Lailai were engrossed in studying Wei'er Hotel's financial statements, believing it crucial for their probationary period.
Shao Moli, however, advised them that financial statements alone do not accurately reflect a company's true condition and are not very helpful for the project, suggesting a multi-faceted approach. The next morning, An Yu and Lailai overslept. Shao Moli waited in his car to offer An Yu a ride, but she opted for her bicycle. He then joined her, also riding a bicycle, and they commuted to work together. During a company meeting, Shao Moli analyzed Wei'er Hotel's situation.
He explained that management resistance is a common challenge in acquisitions and that understanding their willingness and attitude is key. He noted that Chen Wei, who loves to party, had already shown his hand, indicating a faction of management willing to cooperate for personal gain. However, He Shuo, the only son of Wei'er Hotel's founder and a major shareholder, was firmly against the acquisition and refused any negotiations.
Shao Moli emphasized that an unconventional strategy would be necessary to overcome this obstacle. Meanwhile, at Yimi Capital, Zhou Yuan met with He Shuo, presenting his acquisition proposal for Wei'er Hotel. He Shuo rejected it outright. Zhou Yuan pressed on, highlighting Wei'er Hotel's severe financial strain and the necessity of new capital.
He mentioned Zhuoyue's interest in the acquisition, stating that He Shuo would eventually have to choose between Zhuoyue and Yimi, and asserted that Yimi would always offer a better price than Zhuoyue. He confidently claimed to have his methods for knowing Zhuoyue's bids, prompting He Shuo to challenge him to see how he would compete. Later, An Yu presented her strategy to the team, focusing on analyzing Wei'er Hotel's data, including its profitability and liabilities, to gain leverage in negotiations.
She proposed using the "hungry lions game" from Nash equilibrium, suggesting a role-playing exercise with props to make the theory more tangible. During the role-playing exercise, An Yu played the sheep. When it was Ye Kai's turn to be a lion and "eat" An Yu, Shao Moli playfully tripped Ye Kai. On her way home from work, Lailai was drawn to a store's celebration promotion and "luckily" won a fully automatic rotary drum washing machine in a prize draw.
Both she and An Yu were overjoyed, as their old machine was broken. Shao Moli and Ye Kai then helped them carry the heavy machine upstairs. Ye Kai later remarked to Shao Moli that his plan to arrange the "lucky draw" for An Yu and Lailai was indeed a good decision, seeing how happy they were. An Yu affectionately called Lailai her "Fortune Cat," attributing their recent good luck to her.
That night, An Yu went downstairs to feed some leftovers to a stray cat and found Shao Moli doing the same with cat food. She commented that the weather was getting colder and they should find a shelter for the cat. Zhou Yuan met with a contact at Zhuoyue, revealing An Yu was his ex-wife and asking if she could be dismissed from the company.
His contact explained that it would be difficult because An Yu had a criminal record and would not have been hired if Shao Moli hadn't personally insisted on her recruitment, making it impossible to fire her out of respect for Shao Moli.
Zhou Yuan then learned that Shao Moli was a talented financial expert brought in by Lin Zhanhong from overseas specifically to acquire Wei'er Hotel, and that Shao Moli would likely meet with him soon to assess Yimi Capital as a competitor. Back home, Zhou Yuan comforted his wife, Milu, who worried their child, Yiyi, might resent her strict piano practice, reassuring her that Yiyi would eventually be grateful for her guidance.
An Yu, reviewing Wei'er Hotel's financial statements, discovered some irregularities and suspected financial fraud. She messaged Shao Moli about her findings but then quickly recalled the message. Around the same time, Ye Kai approached Shao Moli, asking about He Shuo. Shao Moli confirmed they were proceeding with "Plan B," which involved buying He Shuo's stocks. Just as Shao Moli was about to find An Yu, she stepped out.
They met, and An Yu informed him about her discovery of problematic data in the financial reports. Shao Moli invited her for a drink, which was a pretense to investigate Wei'er Hotel's occupancy rate, as he suspected it was falsified. They planned to check the laundry room's wash records and the housekeepers' punch-in times to verify the actual occupancy. While they were in the laundry room searching for records, a housekeeper locked them inside.
With no cell signal, they were trapped. To pass the time, Shao Moli suggested they talk. He shared that he was adopted and moved overseas, achieving significant financial success but finding little happiness in his career. He pondered whether he had returned to Zhuoyue for a different kind of life. An Yu then told him the only fairy tale she knew: the story of a princess who was mischievous and adventurous but always rescued by a masked black knight.
The tale took a sad turn when the princess was imprisoned in an attic, her father died, and the black knight never appeared again, leaving her feeling forgotten by the world. Shao Moli, who understood An Yu was the princess in her story, comforted her, assuring her that her black knight would return and that she would find her own happy ending. Meanwhile, Lailai noticed it was 10:30 PM and An Yu still hadn't returned.
She called Shao Moli, but his phone was unreachable. Concerned, Lailai went to Ye Kai, expressing her worry about An Yu, especially given their earlier discussion about Wei'er Hotel's questionable occupancy rate. Despite Ye Kai's initial dismissal, Lailai insisted on going to the hotel to find them, and Ye Kai agreed to join her, hailing a ride-sharing service.
