Shi Liansen employed a business collaboration as a means to create opportunities to meet Lin Lu, but she consistently created minor obstacles to push him away. He expressed his admiration for her "Flowing Time Series" designs during a business meeting, and later proposed personally testing products from their new "Time Machine Series" after R&D was complete. He offered her samples and requested her feedback to prolong their interactions.

After one such meeting, he subtly commented on her handshake with a colleague, Maggie, before declaring, "Happy cooperation!" Lin Lu then received a call from her mother, reminding her about a blind date that evening. Despite Lin Lu assuring her mother she hadn't forgotten, Shi Liansen offered her dinner and a ride, which she politely declined. He then proceeded to follow her in his car. When Lin Lu confronted him, he claimed he was merely "passing by."

When she sarcastically invited him to go first, he pretended his car had a problem, eliciting a "Childish!" from Lin Lu. Lin Lu proceeded to her blind date, where Mr. Zhang immediately proved to be an odd character. He questioned why they were meeting at a restaurant, suggesting instead they go to his home for leftovers so he could assess her thriftiness.

He openly critiqued her appearance as "average looking" and her figure, then interrogated her about her income and spending habits, deeming her makeup to convey an "unfaithful" vibe. When Lin Lu attempted to order more food, Mr. Zhang outrageously claimed the meal's cost was equivalent to a month's worth of formula for their "future baby," asserting that he should control their family's finances.

He then callously asked if she was capable of conceiving, bringing up rumors of her past as a "kept woman" by the President of Huanzhen Group, implying multiple miscarriages could lead to infertility, and crudely asking about the breakup settlement money. Observing from a nearby table, Shi Liansen finally intervened. He offered Mr. Zhang wine, then revealed himself to be the President of Huanzhen, adding provocatively that he was "actually the kept one."

Enraged, Mr. Zhang called him a "big bully." Lin Lu, however, was furious at Shi Liansen's unwelcome interference, telling him she didn't need his help and accusing him of trying to drag her into a "tender trap" again. She declared they were no longer what they used to be and sarcastically thanked him for confirming her past as a "kept woman." Shi Liansen apologized profusely, admitting his "big mistake" and pleading to "start over."

Lin Lu retorted that they never truly started, reminding him he wasn't there when she needed him, and now she no longer needed him. Shi Liansen continued to follow Lin Lu home, prompting her to call him "Boring!" Her mother was waiting up, concerned about the blind date. Lin Lu dismissed Mr. Zhang as not her type.

Her mother then mentioned "Xiaoshi," asking if Lin Lu still hadn't forgotten him, and hinted at his continued presence in Lin Lu's life by asking if he had driven her home. Lin Lu, agitated, told her mother not to mention him again, questioning why she was pushing her. Lin Lu confessed that it didn't matter anymore, believing Shi Liansen had abandoned her and never truly cared for her during the past three years, always making decisions without consulting her.

Her mother, saddened by Lin Lu's distress, then revealed the painful truth. She expressed regret for having approached Shi Liansen three years ago, admitting she felt helpless when the scandal broke and Lin Lu became its biggest victim. Unable to stop the rumors, she had asked Xiaoshi to leave Lin Lu, even kneeling to beg him.

She explained her actions by stating Lin Lu was too young to endure such a huge risk, confessing she hadn't realized how deeply Shi Liansen loved Lin Lu at the time. Lin Lu, however, remained unreconciled, pointing out that despite her mother's pleas, Shi Liansen still gave up on her, reinforcing her belief that he never truly cared and constantly controlled their relationship, never asking for her opinion. She stated firmly that she would not forgive him easily.

The next morning, Lin Lu encountered Shi Liansen and Master Liang, who ran a coffee shop. She continued to rebuff Shi Liansen's attempts to connect. At her office, colleagues gossiped about Shi Liansen's "Time Machine Series," believing he named it because he was "waiting for somebody" to preserve cherished memories, implying Lin Lu was that person.

Lin Lu seemingly "accidentally" spilled coffee on Shi Liansen, then used a supposed blind date as an excuse to rush off, still trying to push him away. She then called a police officer, falsely accusing Shi Liansen of being a "pervert" who had been following her. Shi Liansen explained to the officer that they were a couple and she was simply angry.

After Lin Lu confronted him about why he was still pursuing her and how she had suffered alone for three years abroad, she returned home to find a parcel from Alan. Inside was a letter along with gifts, originally intended for "Lynn & Sen's wedding." Flashbacks revealed Shi Liansen's secret care: a message from him to Alan, asking for help to look after Lin Lu, noting her inner fragility despite her outward strength.

Alan questioned why Shi Liansen didn't tell her the truth, to which Shi Liansen replied, "Because I love her." This revelation finally shattered Lin Lu's emotional barrier. At a subsequent business meeting, Shi Liansen, clearly prioritizing Lin Lu, insisted he would only sign the contract with "Director Lin," stating that the "Time Machine Series" was not created for profit but for a deeper, unspoken reason connected to her. As Lin Lu stormed out, he pursued her, grabbing her hand.

She angrily questioned why he had reappeared and what he wanted. Shi Liansen unequivocally declared his desire to be with her and his refusal to let her go. Lin Lu then poured out her heart, expressing her "hate" not for his actions, but for his secrecy—for not telling her about her mother's intervention, for shouldering all the responsibility, and for making decisions about her future and feelings on his own.

She called his heroism "very stupid" and spoke of her immense sadness at the time. Shi Liansen simply responded, "I like you so much." They embraced, and later woke up together, signaling their reconciliation. Lin Lu called Shi Liansen, arranging to meet on the beach that afternoon. He arrived early, full of anticipation, playfully calling her a "liar" when she feigned being late.

Lin Lu explained she had brought him there to give him the answer she couldn't three years prior. Shi Liansen then presented her with a "love letter"—a contract he had kept for a long time, waiting for her signature to make it effective. Lin Lu humorously noted its lack of a due date, to which Shi Liansen clarified it was "for life." Her last question was whether he had visited her in the hospital abroad three years ago.

Shi Liansen affirmed, "I’ve always been with you! I’ve never really left you!" Lin Lu then tearfully thanked him for everything, and they shared a long, loving kiss, finally mending their broken hearts and reuniting.
