Whirlwind Girl 2 Episode 8 Recap
> Whirlwind Girl 2 Recap
Ting Hao confronted Chang An at Xing Yao's grave, kicking the wooden carving that Chang An had placed there. Ting Hao angrily questioned Chang An's presence, stating that Xing Yao was there because of him. He accused Chang An of finding excuses, recalling Chang An's past insistence on only the best, which led Xing Yao to overtrain.
Ting Hao warned Chang An to take his things and not to use his "stupid method" of training on Bai Cao, calling him a "useless creature" and stating that he ruined both Xing Yao and himself. After Ting Hao left, Chang An picked up the carving, placing it back on the tombstone. He reflected on the past, regretting his harshness with Xing Yao.
He remembered telling Xing Yao that his body was too weak for Feng Yun Hall's strict training and ordering him to leave, despite Xing Yao's pleas to stay. Chang An wondered if things would have turned out differently if he had known about Xing Yao's heart disease and had been more gentle. Later, while cycling to look for Chang An, Bai Cao accidentally bumped into a strangely dressed young man. She immediately apologized and asked if he was hurt.
The young man seized the opportunity to complain that he had been wandering and hadn't eaten for days, asking if Bai Cao would take him in. Bai Cao offered to buy him a sweet potato, but he refused, explaining that sweet potatoes reminded him of past abuse. He then requested pork trotters.
Bai Cao kindly bought him the trotters and a bottle of Xiao Lu Suan, a yogurt drink, advising him to drink it for his stomach since the trotters were greasy. She also told him to find her at Song Bai Hall if he needed anything, introducing herself as Qi Bai Cao. After she left, the young man, Fei Yu, expressed his surprise that his "savior" was at Song Bai Hall.
Bai Cao eventually found Chang An by the lake and urged him to return to the dojo, telling him that everyone was worried. Chang An, in low spirits, questioned who would worry about him, suggesting they should be worried about Bai Cao being subjected to his "ruthless training." He brought up Senior Ting Hao's accusations of him being a "monster with a heart made of steel," only caring about winning.
Bai Cao insisted that he wasn't like that, but Chang An challenged her, asking if she only needed him for the National Youth Competition or to find Ruo Bai. Bai Cao countered, stating she didn't come to bring him back for training or to win a championship, but simply to ask him to come home. She explained that as an orphan, Song Bai was her home, and every member, including him, was her family.
As she tried to pull him, Chang An's leg injury flared up. Bai Cao then insisted he ride on the back of her bicycle, pedaling him back to Song Bai Hall. Upon their return, the members of Song Bai Hall, who had been anxiously waiting, rushed out to greet Chang An, showering him with small gifts like lip balm, tea, a teddy bear, and nuts.
Chang An, visibly touched, tried to hide his emotions by ordering everyone to do half an hour of handstands, but humorously added that there would be no cacti this time. Later, a member asked Chang An why his attitude towards staying had changed, since he had previously seemed unwilling. The member revealed that Bai Cao had convinced them.
In a flashback, Bai Cao passionately defended Chang An to the other members, reminding them of their gratitude when he helped her defeat Kato Sayuri. She emphasized that they shouldn't abandon or suspect him just because of his past and reiterated that as their coach and a member of their family, he deserved their trust. She promised to always prioritize her safety and uphold her goals, stating, "I still have all of you! We are family!"
Her words deeply resonated with everyone, leading them to believe in Chang An. Back in the present, the members apologized to Chang An for their past disrespect, to which he simply replied, "Who wanted to fuss with you. . ." Bai Cao's recent victory had made her a celebrity, with fans swarming her for autographs. Xiao Ying, jokingly acting as her manager, eventually pushed them off to her mother so she and Bai Cao could escape.
As the Pretty Girls Tournament finals in Japan approached, Bai Cao faced a dilemma: she had sent all her prize money from the An Yang competition to Ruo Bai's sick father. The travel expenses for Japan were now gone. To raise funds, Bai Cao took a part-time job selling face masks. Xiao Ying, Guang Ya, and other members of Song Bai Hall joined her, explaining that they had gotten permission from Chang An so their training wouldn't be affected.
Despite their efforts, the money earned was insufficient. Xiao Ying then approached Ting Hao, hoping he would sponsor Bai Cao. However, Ting Hao flatly refused, explaining that he didn't want Bai Cao to become like Chang An—someone whose eyes were solely fixed on winning competitions. Disappointed but not deterred, the Song Bai members brainstormed other solutions. When Chang An learned of their predicament, he began carving a large ice sculpture in the town square.
Bai Cao and the others quickly joined him, eager to help. Chang An, concerned for Bai Cao's hands, told her not to keep them on the ice for too long and had her focus on the diagram while he did most of the work. Together, they completed a magnificent sculpture of a soaring eagle, posing for a joyful group photo in front of it.
Chang An then sold the ice sculpture, and the combined funds finally covered Bai Cao's expenses for the trip to Japan. Chang An, though pleased, became shy when the members expressed their heartfelt thanks, ordering them back to training to avoid punishment. While Bai Cao was distributing flyers, a person in a bear costume offered her a Xiao Lu Suan.
Thinking it was Xiao Ying, Bai Cao was surprised to discover it was Fei Yu, the young man she had bumped into earlier. Fei Yu dramatically declared his intention to repay her "pork trotters' kindness," insisting he would "be hers in life and death." Despite Bai Cao's assurances that it was "no big deal," Fei Yu followed her all the way to Song Bai Hall. Xiu Da and the others, finding him annoying, locked him outside.
Fei Yu, determined to stay, then reappeared in a tattered samurai costume, attempting to climb into the dojo. Xiao Ying caught him, and after several more attempts, including trying to pick the lock with a wire, he was finally brought inside. The members expressed skepticism about taking him in, with Xiao Ying calling him a "character performance addiction patient" and asking why they should harbor a "useless" stranger when they were already struggling financially.
Bai Cao explained that his wallet had been stolen, and she feared he would starve on the streets. Fei Yu, unwavering, declared that he wouldn't leave his savior and that Song Bai was his home. Xiao Ying, giving in, allowed him to stay but assigned him all the dojo's cleaning duties. Fei Yu gratefully accepted, hailing her as "Goddess."
When asked about the "sword" he carried, he revealed it to be an umbrella, then recited a dramatic poem about walking alone. Xiao Ying sarcastically pointed out that a person under an umbrella wouldn't have a shadow, but Fei Yu, checking, insisted he did.
