Li Qian introduced herself to Ning Chengming, telling him that he was Ning Chengming and she was his fiancée. She explained that his head injury might temporarily affect his memory, but assured him she would help him recover quickly. When Ning Chengming asked how he was injured, Li Qian lied, claiming it was her fault for insisting on a vacation to T Country, which led to his car accident.

To make her story more convincing, she secretly pinched herself, causing tears to well up. Meanwhile, Qi Wei grew increasingly worried when he couldn't reach Ning Chengming. He remembered an envelope Ning Chengming had given him, containing instructions for unforeseen circumstances. Inside, the note advised him not to call the police and to search for Ning Chengming at hospitals within five kilometers of the hotel. Qi Wei realized Ning Chengming was truly in an accident.

Two days earlier, at their company, employees gossiped about Ning Chengming's strictness, calling him an "old fox," a nickname supposedly coined by Ma Hao. They recalled how he once fired a finance employee for a minor error. They believed only Ma Hao, Ning Chengming's former classmate, could endure him. Their conversation was interrupted by the sudden news that Ning Chengming had requisitioned the conference room, sending them into a frantic scramble to hide their Luosifen.

One employee, frustrated by Ning Chengming's demanding nature, considered resigning. A cleaner who had eaten in the conference room was fired with minimal compensation. Ning Chengming then held a board meeting, which Ma Hao joined 27 minutes late, seemingly intoxicated. Ning Chengming asked Ma Hao to explain why Guanding was abandoning its T Country industrial line. Ma Hao denied the claim, stating he had already dropped the idea due to the unfavorable market.

He then proposed that Ning Chengming, being familiar with T Country operations, should fly there to negotiate a long-term contract with GC's Southeast Asia Division. The other directors, annoyed by the perceived wasted time, implied Ning Chengming was acting on rumors. Ning Chengming agreed to go to T Country. After the meeting, Ning Chengming privately confronted Ma Hao, questioning his haste and his dishonesty about a cash shortfall in his accounts.

Ma Hao admitted Ning Chengming was too intelligent to deceive and declared that if the T Country deal succeeded, their professional debts would be settled. When Ma Hao asked if Ning Chengming was disappointed, Ning Chengming coldly replied that "disappointment is for the hope that once had," and that Ma Hao "doesn't deserve it." After Ning Chengming left, Ma Hao made a phone call, simply saying, "Move!"

At the police station in T Country, Li Qian told officers she and Ning Chengming had planned their trip together but arrived separately due to work. She confirmed Ning Chengming was her fiancée. Before leaving the hospital for the police station, Li Qian gave Ning Chengming a pair of glasses she had someone buy for him, promising a better pair later. At the same police station, Gu Zhe, his girlfriend Tiantian, and her lover were present after a brawl.

The police offered them two options: involve the consulate or settle it locally by taking a heart-shaped photo together. Tiantian objected to involving the consulate, fearing humiliation back home. Li Qian intervened, persuading Gu Zhe and the lover to take the photo to avoid an international incident. The police presented their investigation findings, concluding the car accident was an "unexpected accident" caused by a malfunctioning left wheel brake axle, with no evidence of human interference.

The car's damage matched the roadside railing. Li Qian subtly questioned the integrity of the police officer, noting his lavish lifestyle compared to his rank. The officer then suggested Li Qian herself could be the perpetrator if it wasn't an accident, given her argument with Ning Chengming before the crash. Li Qian reiterated that it was an accident and requested a copy of the surveillance footage for her future mother-in-law.

Meanwhile, in a separate room, the driver of the truck involved in Ning Chengming's accident argued with his accomplice about payment. The accomplice stated the employer wouldn't pay without confirmation of Ning Chengming's death. The driver, confident in his work, bragged that Ning Chengming would lose all memory even if he survived, making confirmation unnecessary. The accomplice, after asking if the driver would refuse to go if unpaid, discreetly put flammable items in a microwave.

The room exploded, killing the driver. The accomplice then received a phone call, confirming Ning Chengming's hospital location. Back at the hospital, Li Qian watched Ning Chengming through the door's window, amused as he awkwardly struggled to drink water and adjust his blanket with one injured hand. She mused, "Every dog has his day." This sparked memories of her university days, when Ning Chengming was her economics professor.

She had failed his notoriously difficult class, which required handwritten papers and full attendance, and had the highest failure rate. Her friends joked that it was normal to fail his class, citing a senior who still hadn't graduated because he couldn't pass Ning Chengming's retake. Li Qian, frustrated, vowed never to beg him again. Despite her vow, Li Qian relentlessly sought Ning Chengming to pass her.

She revised her assignments multiple times, even offering to do twice the work for a chance at a passing grade, but he coldly dismissed her, stating her original failure disqualified her from even a make-up exam, and told her to "get out." Desperate, she confided in her mother, who gave her advice.

Li Qian then resorted to public apologies and begging Ning Chengming, and even tried to bribe him with sweet and sour ribs, which he refused, claiming he was vegetarian. Ning Chengming delivered a stern lecture to his class, emphasizing that university was not for slacking and that passing exams was a matter of intelligence, not opportunities. Li Qian muttered that he was a "pervert."

Back in the present, Li Qian tried to flatter Ning Chengming, telling him that unlike his strictness with others, he had always been "very gentle" and "very good" to her because she was "cute." Ning Chengming, still suffering from amnesia, simply remarked that making a cute gesture didn't make one cute, and he couldn't remember her past self. A doctor informed Li Qian that Ning Chengming could not be discharged that night and needed several more days of observation.

Li Qian was asked to pay the hospital bill. Later, on the phone with Gu Zhe, Li Qian lavished him with praise, declaring him more brilliant than Steve Jobs and urging him to secure a contract signing the next day. Ning Chengming, overhearing the call, questioned why his fiancée was praising another man in front of him. Li Qian explained that Gu Zhe was her boss who needed constant flattery.

Ning Chengming suggested she quit, offering to support her, but Li Qian, feeling awkward, quickly excused herself to pay the bill. Meanwhile, the accomplice, who had caused the truck driver's death, was seen making his way towards the hospital.
