Gu Nan applied for a job at Song's skewers restaurant, and He Chufeng vouched for him. Gu Nan revealed he had recently been released from prison after serving a six-year sentence for theft (originally eight years, reduced by two). Chufeng was surprised that Gu Nan was willing to work so close to him, but Gu Nan explained that it would be convenient for them to look out for each other.
Gu Nan, being observant, noticed Sui Yi, the female lawyer, was Chufeng’s girlfriend and expressed his happiness for Chufeng, calling him smart, kind, and reliable. Chufeng then presented Gu Nan with a new set of clothes, which Gu Nan gladly accepted, commenting on how much he liked the color. Later, while Sui Yi was at the bookstore, her nephew asked if she liked He Chufeng.
When she didn't deny it, the nephew excitedly told He Chufeng that Sui Yi liked him. The bookstore owner, Zheng, overheard and offered to help Sui Yi pursue Chufeng, assuming Chufeng didn’t have a girlfriend. However, Chufeng publicly declared he had a girlfriend and then took Sui Yi's arm, leading her out. As they walked through the community, their relationship became the talk of the neighborhood.
Song and other acquaintances were surprised, and one neighbor, Mrs. Liu, even commented on their matching dimples as a rare stroke of fate. Overwhelmed by the sudden attention, Chufeng and Sui Yi quickly made their escape. Meanwhile, Luo Bin was helping An repair her washing machine. After he finished and turned away, An unexpectedly kissed him on the cheek. Startled, An tried to run but slipped, almost falling.
Luo Bin caught her and jokingly demanded she take responsibility for the kiss. Their moment was interrupted by the arrival of He Chufeng and Sui Yi, with Chufeng playfully asking if they were dancing. Luo Bin, having learned of Chufeng and Sui Yi's public declaration, then jokingly interrogated them, noting how their "high-profile" announcement had tripled the customer traffic at his shop, with everyone coming to gossip.
Sui Yi admitted she was the one who pursued Chufeng, though Chufeng tried to claim responsibility. When it was An and Luo Bin's turn, An downplayed the incident, claiming she merely slipped and feigned memory loss. Luo Bin, however, vividly recounted the kiss and near-fall, insisting An take responsibility. An, deflecting, went to check on the washing machine. Feeling dejected and ignored, Luo Bin told Chufeng and Sui Yi to leave him alone.
Later that evening, Chufeng lovingly kissed Sui Yi in the stairwell, leaving her heart pounding. The next morning, Sui Yi carried the homemade lunch He Chufeng had prepared for her to work, feeling incredibly happy. At the antique shop, Luo Bin, exhausted, asked Chufeng to do the dishes, and to his astonishment, Chufeng readily agreed. Chufeng then surprised both Luo Bin and An by bringing out after-meal fruit for them.
Luo Bin was completely bewildered by Chufeng’s uncharacteristically domestic and caring behavior, remarking that the He Chufeng he knew would never act this way. Chufeng, meanwhile, confessed to Luo Bin that he simply wanted to be nice. Later, Chufeng went to pick Sui Yi up from work, continuing his attentive gestures. On New Year's Eve, the four friends – He Chufeng, Sui Yi, Luo Bin, and An – decided to go on a trip.
Luo Bin, eager to impress An, insisted on driving, but An simply wanted to enjoy the scenery quietly. At the resort, Chufeng booked a luxurious "forest room" for Sui Yi and An, while he and Luo Bin settled for a standard room that was half the price. While Sui Yi and An enjoyed their spacious room, Luo Bin tried to present his meticulously planned itinerary, but Chufeng found it exhausting.
The two men then bickered playfully, comparing Sui Yi and An's looks. Unbeknownst to them, the girls overheard their childish banter and found them both immature and shallow, criticizing them as one being boring and noisy, and the other pretentious and boisterous. An even teased Luo Bin about his navigation skills. Sui Yi then decided she needed to return to their room to handle some urgent work emails, and Chufeng, wanting more alone time with her, offered to accompany her.
While Chufeng and Sui Yi enjoyed their private time, Luo Bin and An found themselves lost on a path in the woods. An twisted her ankle, so Luo Bin gently took her hand and helped her walk slowly. An, still grappling with her memory loss, asked Luo Bin if he would still accept her if her true self were completely different from who she was now.
Luo Bin reassured her, telling her that he didn't know her past or future self, but he loved her for who she was in the present. As they found their way back, An playfully teased Luo Bin about his "appraising" skills and suggested he get an IQ test for getting them lost. Luo Bin, however, countered that sometimes forgetting is a form of happiness, while a good memory can be a burden.
Luo Bin then expressed his newfound desire to travel the world with An. Later, He Chufeng gave Sui Yi a unique necklace made from a key. An, feeling reflective, expressed how much she missed her family and wondered why they hadn't reported her missing. Sui Yi comforted her, explaining that every parent expresses love differently, and some are just not good at saying it.
Sui Yi then asked An if she liked Luo Bin, to which An replied that he was "cute" and she enjoyed being with him. In turn, An asked Sui Yi why she liked He Chufeng, and Sui Yi simply answered, "Because he is He Chufeng." After dinner, the four friends gathered to light fireworks and share their New Year wishes.
Chufeng called Gu Nan, who was busy working at Song's restaurant but sounded cheerful, expressing his gratitude to Chufeng for vouching for him and making him feel useful and accomplished. They both wished each other a Happy New Year. Later that night, He Chufeng and Sui Yi, both unable to sleep, secretly met up. Sui Yi expressed her joy, calling it her first time traveling with a boyfriend.
As they talked, Chufeng revealed he keeps a notebook and has dedicated a page to Sui Yi as his first entry. Meanwhile, Luo Bin sent An a text message asking if she was asleep. Receiving no reply, he quietly went to her room door and knocked repeatedly, but there was no response.
