The Romance of Hua Rong 2 Episode 2 Recap
> The Romance of Hua Rong 2 Recap
Qin Shangcheng was tasked with two missions: escorting a merchant ship back to Mingzhou and investigating the South Desolation Spies. That evening, Qin Shangcheng went to the pier in the south of the city, where Hua Rong secretly followed him and noticed someone else observing Qin Shangcheng, bearing a South Desolation Spy tattoo. Qin Shangcheng, posing as Mr. Wan, inspected a shipment of Tianchu's finest rice, acknowledging that Ms. Ye had kept her word.
Ms. Ye suggested they discuss further details at Wanfu Building after the deal. At that moment, one of Qin Shangcheng's subordinates arrived, announcing they had raided the china shop and secured the name list. Realizing she had been deceived, Ms. Ye identified him as Qin Shangcheng, and a fight ensued. Qin Shangcheng’s forces were superior, and Ms. Ye escaped by jumping into the river. Qin Shangcheng ordered his men to pursue her relentlessly.
Meanwhile, Hua Rong tracked the man with the South Desolation Spy tattoo. When he discovered her, Hua Rong quickly used a honey-trap, admiring his martial arts and agility. The man, calling himself Feng Er, suggested they meet at Tianxiang Restaurant at five in the afternoon. Hua Rong told him to call her Rong. The next day, Qin Shangcheng found Hua Rong distracted in her room. He apologized for neglecting her due to his busy schedule.
Hua Rong brushed it off, pouring him tea, surprising Qin Shangcheng. She mentioned the story of Young's Female Warrior, women generals fighting alongside their husbands, making them legendary couples, hinting that she, as Swordswoman Huahua, wanted to share his burdens. Qin Shangcheng excused himself, claiming he forgot to tell Qian Dayou something, and left. Hua Rong worried their hearts would drift apart. Qin Shangcheng overheard this.
Zhu, with Hua Rong, agreed, adding that men's affections fade faster, and suggested Hua Rong reciprocate Qin Shangcheng's coldness, even if it meant separating. Qin Shangcheng, furious, learned from Qian Dayou that Zhang Xian found new information at the china shop. He ordered Qian Dayou to remove Zhu from Hua Rong’s side, threatening his salary. Qian Dayou offered Zhu money to leave, but Zhu misunderstood, thinking he wanted to marry her, listing her skills.
Hua Rong intervened, declaring Zhu her sworn sister, asserting Zhu would stay, and anyone wanting to send her away would have to go through her. Qian Dayou retreated. Determined to appease Hua Rong, Qin Shangcheng bought many items, including custom sugar figurines resembling her, and practiced apologies. Hua Rong watched, amused. Zhu arrived and misinterpreted Qin Shangcheng’s practice as him wanting to flirt with other girls.
Qin Shangcheng denied it, but Hua Rong, winking at him, told him to stop, saying it was normal for him to be busy and she should find her own activities. She left with Zhu to go shopping. Qin Shangcheng’s men thought Hua Rong wasn't angry, but Qin Shangcheng knew her calm exterior hid deeper emotions and planned a grander surprise. Qin Shangcheng went to Tianxiang Restaurant, where his men reported Hua Rong was.
He planned a surprise with fireworks and music but overheard Hua Rong and Zhu discussing meeting "another man." Enraged, Qin Shangcheng decided to wait and see who this rival was. Simultaneously, Qian Dayou bribed Zhu with his jade pendant to get information about Hua Rong. Zhu revealed that Hua Rong deeply loved Qin Shangcheng, despite her anger. Zhu then sold some antique items for ten times the value of the jade pendant.
Qin Shangcheng, annoyed by Qian Dayou's useless information, punished him. Later, Qin Shangcheng intercepted a message from Feng Er to "Dear Rong," inviting her for another secret meeting at Tianxiang Restaurant. Infuriated, Qin Shangcheng rushed back to the restaurant and watched Feng Er flirt with Hua Rong, touching her hand and waist. Hua Rong praised him. Feng Er, sensing a disturbance, suggested they move to his secluded "territory." Hua Rong, wanting to uncover the spy's location, agreed.
Feng Er led her into a secret passage beneath a civilian residence. Inside the hidden lair, Hua Rong incapacitated Feng Er with Knockout Powder. As he collapsed, Feng Er triggered a mechanism that sealed the entrance, trapping Hua Rong inside. Qin Shangcheng and his men, following, realized Hua Rong was gone and found the South Desolation Spy's emblem, confirming a secret passage. Qin Shangcheng entered.
Trapped with the unconscious Feng Er but aware of someone outside, Hua Rong loudly feigned an injury and called for "Mister" to save them, asking who was there. Qin Shangcheng, outside, questioned her about her affection for Feng Er and her "husband" Qin Shangcheng. Hua Rong denied having a husband and declared that she was only feigning interest in Feng Er to investigate the South Desolation Spies for her husband, Qin Shangcheng. Moved, Qin Shangcheng revealed himself.
When Feng Er regained consciousness and shot a poison dart at Hua Rong, Qin Shangcheng restrained him, forced him to surrender the antidote, and interrogated him about Ms. Ye and the South Desolation Spies. To protect Hua Rong and allow her to recover, Qin Shangcheng arranged for Mr. Wei, the governor of Mingzhou, to take credit for her rescue. Hua Rong woke up in the state office, believing Mr. Wei saved her and praising him for capturing Feng Er.
Mr. Wei presented her a token, inviting her to participate in future investigations. Thrilled by the prospect of becoming Qin Shangcheng's "colleague," Hua Rong accepted. Qin Shangcheng explained to Mr. Wei his intention to ensure Hua Rong’s recovery and prevent solo missions. He understood Hua Rong's feelings and promised a proper wedding after the mission. Hua Rong, unaware of Qin Shangcheng's true role, told him she felt well and was ready to "fight side by side" with him.
Qin Shangcheng urged her to rest. His men confirmed Ms. Ye had been apprehended. Later, Qian Dayou tried to impress Qin Shangcheng, explaining a Western criminal profiling technique based on a witness's description. He described Hua Rong's ideal man, matching Qin Shangcheng. Qin Shangcheng was pleased but warned against anyone who dared to "covet" Hua Rong, and instructed his men to proceed with their plan.
