Sword Snow Stride Episode 4 Recap
> Sword Snow Stride Recap
Following his dramatic arrival, Chen Zhibao, renowned as the War Immortal in White, questioned Xu Fengnian's courage to lead North Liang. He asserted that if Xu Xiao were gone, his own presence would be enough to prevent chaos in North Liang, dismissing Xu Fengnian's probing questions about whether he intended to take over. Later, Xu Xiao acknowledged Chen Zhibao's extraordinary talent to his son, admitting that such a formidable figure is difficult to control.
Xu Fengnian, however, reiterated his lack of interest in ruling North Liang, preferring to remain a carefree young master and focus on surviving the ongoing assassination plots. Nangong Puye observed the Tingchao Pavilion from a distance, adhering to her promise not to enter until her bodyguard duties were complete. In a whimsical moment, Xu Fengnian tossed a roasted chicken into the lake before inviting her inside. Moments after they entered, the floating chicken mysteriously sank.
Inside the pavilion, Xu Fengnian showcased its vast collection of martial arts texts and rare artifacts. Nangong Puye questioned why, with access to such a treasure trove, he hadn't learned martial arts and didn't want to lead North Liang. Evading the topic, Xu Fengnian borrowed Nangong Puye's blade and knocked it against a bookshelf, summoning Wei Shuyang, the pavilion's elderly guardian. After a brief, furious tirade, Wei Shuyang fell silent upon seeing Nangong Puye.
Xu Fengnian explained he was avoiding his master, Li Yishan, until the assassination plot was resolved, revealing that Li Yishan taught him strategy through chess, not martial arts. Meanwhile, Lin Lanting, the Third Graduate, arrived in Lingzhou and publicly denounced Xu Xiao as a rebel and his son Xu Fengnian as a corrupt and dangerous individual. As Xu Fengnian and Old Huang watched, Old Huang criticized the speech as overly academic and incomprehensible.
Amidst the commotion, a blind old veteran, Xu Yongguan, staged a fake accident with Lin's carriage. Miss Fan, Lin's companion, argued with the old man until Xu Fengnian, who knew him, stepped in and took him home. At Xu Yongguan's home, Jiang Ni learned of the old man's past as a soldier in the Yugu Battalion.
Xu Fengnian explained his profound sense of debt to veterans like him, stating he concealed his identity as the heir out of respect for their sacrifices. Lin Lanting and Miss Fan proceeded to the Mansion of the Lord of North Liang but were deliberately ignored by the staff, fueling Lin's indignation. Waiting outside, he passionately declared the Xu family a grave threat to the realm and wished he had the martial skill to kill Xu Fengnian himself.
Eventually, Xu Fengnian returned and, unrecognized, escorted them inside. Mistaking Xu Fengnian for a retainer's son, Lin praised him for daring to speak ill of the Lord's heir. By the lakeside, Xu Fengnian revealed his true identity. Realizing he'd been tricked, Lin gave a signal and Miss Fan launched an attack. Qing Niao swiftly intervened, her distinctive spear technique exposing her as a hidden master.
Xu Fengnian admitted he had orchestrated the encounter to test his suspicions about Qing Niao, confirming she was a "death guard" placed by Xu Xiao. Miss Fan immediately took sole responsibility for the assassination attempt. To test Lin's innocence, Xu Fengnian handed him a sword and ordered him to kill Miss Fan. The scholar, unable to commit the act, dropped the sword and abased himself, begging for both their lives and even insulting Miss Fan. Convinced of Lin's non-involvement, Xu Fengnian ordered Qing Niao to take Miss Fan away.
