While enjoying themselves at the tavern and pleasure house, the group heard that Suzhou had recently been plagued by snake demons. Li Xiaoyao had an idea. He suggested to Liu Jinyuan that they capture the snake demon. This way, they could eliminate harm for the people, Liu Jinyuan could prove himself to Lin Tiannan, and most importantly, Li Xiaoyao could escape the marriage. The two hit it off immediately.

Lin Yueru returned home drunk and saw her father and the housekeeper preparing for the wedding. She declared that she would never marry Li Xiaoyao. Lin Tiannan patiently advised her, saying that although Li Xiaoyao's appearance was ordinary, he was gifted and intelligent and could inherit the Lin family's status in the martial arts world in the future.

Lin Yueru wanted to roam the jianghu (martial world), and after getting married, she could join hands with Li Xiaoyao to uphold justice, which would be a wonderful thing. For a moment, Lin Yueru felt a hint of longing, which was quickly suppressed by her drunkenness. Back in her room, she suggested taking the two out of the city. However, Li Xiaoyao didn't want to leave immediately because Zhao Ling'er was unwell and couldn't travel overnight.

--- Early the next morning, Lin Yueru took the group out of the city via a small path, intending to let Li Xiaoyao and Zhao Ling'er escape while she captured the snake demon herself to prove her capability to her father. Liu Jinyuan knew the snake demon's hiding place, but Zhao Ling'er worried it would be inconvenient for Lin Yueru, being a girl, so she suggested they act together. The four arrived at the Hidden Dragon Cave.

Lin Yueru shouted loudly and indeed lured out the snake demon. Li Xiaoyao and Lin Yueru attacked together, and Zhao Ling'er used her magic to subdue it. However, the snake demon's power was profound, and the group couldn't control it at all. Liu Jinyuan stood by himself, and was poisoned unconscious by the toxic gas spat out by the snake demon. Zhao Ling'er used the Soul Revival Spell, but found that it could only heal injuries, not detoxify poison.

A Nu pretended to be surrounded by flying insects and called for Tang Yu to protect her. Tang Yu saw some flying insects in A Nu's room and shooed them away a few times. Unexpectedly, A Nu took out a small bottle and sucked the insects inside. It turned out these flying insects were all raised by A Nu on a daily basis and were somewhat poisonous. After being bitten, Tang Yu's acupuncture points were sealed.

A Nu left the inn alone, ready to fully enjoy the beautiful landscapes of the Central Plains, no longer under Tang Yu's watch. The four people brought Liu Jinyuan back to the Lin family castle. Lin Tiannan had prepared an antidote when he previously tried to capture a snake demon. Liu Jinyuan finally woke up and weakly requested Lin Tiannan to dissolve the engagement between Lin Yueru and Li Xiaoyao. Lin Tiannan replied that he would make his own decision.

Before resting, Zhao Ling'er repeatedly asked Li Xiaoyao if he would abandon her. Only after receiving repeated reassurance did she sleep peacefully. That night, a servant girl passed by Zhao Ling'er's room and discovered that Zhao Ling'er had turned into a snake demon. She immediately shouted loudly in the courtyard. Li Xiaoyao and Lin Yueru were the first to arrive.

They opened the room and found that Zhao Ling'er's hair had turned red and her lower body had become a long snake tail. Without time to ask for the reason, Zhao Ling'er dragged her heavy snake tail and ran out through the window. Li Xiaoyao guessed that she must have been affected by a spell when they previously captured the snake demon.

Lin Yueru believed that since the incident happened in the Lin family castle and Zhao Ling'er was her newly befriended good sister, they must find Zhao Ling'er as soon as possible. So the two joined forces and rushed to the Hidden Dragon Cave again. After learning about it, Lin Tiannan handed the map of the Hidden Dragon Cave and the Golden Silk Armor to Liu Jinyuan, hoping they could help.

Following the guidance of a crystal stone, A Nu also found her way near the Hidden Dragon Cave. Li Xiaoyao used all his strength and finally controlled the snake demon. Lin Yueru questioned where Zhao Ling'er had been taken. The snake demon stated that she had not left the cave at all that night. Based on Lin Yueru's description, the snake demon said that what they saw must have been from the Divine Race.
