Sweet Tai Chi Episode 9 Recap
> Sweet Tai Chi Recap
During the winter break, Feng Piaopiao diligently continued her training under Wei Chu's guidance. On New Year's Eve, Wei Chu unexpectedly joined Feng Piaopiao and her grandfather for a joyful celebration, where Wei Chu proposed Feng Piaopiao's participation in the upcoming martial arts competition, receiving her grandfather's full support for continued training. Yueshanxun, who could not return home for the New Year, sent Feng Piaopiao a New Year's message.
Her cheerful text exchange with Yueshanxun, neglecting Wei Chu's messages, sparked Wei Chu's jealousy. Later, to cheer up Yueshanxun, Feng Piaopiao and Xiao Xiao took him to a temple fair and lit fireworks, spending a pleasant evening together. These interactions fueled campus gossip, which, after the winter break, escalated into widespread rumors about Feng Piaopiao two-timing Wei Chu and Yueshanxun. People even put bugs in Feng Piaopiao's books, leaving her constantly on edge.
Her friend, Xiao Xiao, couldn't stand the escalating bullying and spoke up for her, but Feng Piaopiao chose to endure it to maintain her ladylike image. Back in their dorm, Xiao Xiao asked Feng Piaopiao to help clean, remarking, "If you don't clean up, you will sleep in the street at night." Later, in the cafeteria, as students gossiped, Xiao Xiao expressed her frustration, asking, "Are you going too far like this?"
Feng Piaopiao admitted she couldn't continue this way but was unsure what to do. Xiao Xiao blamed Wei Chu, suggesting Yueshanxun was a better option. Feng Piaopiao quickly clarified, "Yueshanxun and I are just friends," worried about more scandals. She also fretted that if the truth about her admission paintings being fake was discovered, she would be expelled.
Meanwhile, Chen Bing informed Wei Chu that Tan Lin's original surname was Fang and that he frequently visited Fangji's old residence, suspecting a connection to Baqimen. Wei Chu, acknowledging the danger involved with Baqimen, decided to take over the investigation himself. He instructed Chen Bing and Yang Ningxue to cease their inquiries and instead focus on their primary task: revitalizing the Tai Chi system alongside Bai Haiyang.
Separately, a mysterious individual met with Tan Lin, revealing that Feng Piaopiao's two enrollment paintings were not her original works, a piece of information Tan Lin found "interesting," indicating he knew how to proceed. Wei Chu, missing Feng Piaopiao, called her to his house under the pretense of needing her to cook for him. Feng Piaopiao’s cooking, however, proved to be "dark cuisine." After just one spoonful of her soup, Wei Chu collapsed due to stomach discomfort.
Feng Piaopiao, ever helpful, insisted on making him ginger sugar water to "warm his body." She then proceeded to create a bizarre concoction, adding an excessive amount of ginger along with chrysanthemums, red dates, and other strange ingredients. She affectionately named it "The invincible love of the universe is so delicious that it explodes Brown sugar soup." Despite Wei Chu's attempts to defer drinking it until the next day, Feng Piaopiao threatened to freeze outside if he didn't.
He forced himself to take a sip, struggling to say it was "delicious," then claimed he would take it to his room to drink slowly, much to Feng Piaopiao's delight. She even offered to bring him the rest of the pot. Left alone, Wei Chu pondered the strange mix of "chrysanthemum for dispelling fire" and "ginger soup for dispelling cold," wondering what exactly the remedy was for, and how spicy it was.
Early the next morning, Jin Rou, on her way to Wei Chu's house, saw Feng Piaopiao stretching upstairs and quickly left. Later, Jin Rou and Aijia intercepted Xiao Xiao, warning her to stay away from Feng Piaopiao, claiming she was "seducing Wei Chu everywhere in the school." When Xiao Xiao tried to leave, they pushed her. Luckily, Bai Haiyang happened to pass by and caught Xiao Xiao, preventing her fall.
He sternly told Jin Rou and Aijia, "I don't want this to happen again." Xiao Xiao thanked him, but Bai Haiyang's casual remark that "anyone will help" in such a situation deflated her. Under Jin Rou's influence, Aijia continued to harass Feng Piaopiao by having classmates steal her swimsuit before a swimming class.
Yueshanxun discovered the two girls with the swimsuit and reproached them for spreading rumors and causing trouble, reminding them that Feng Piaopiao was a kind-hearted girl and his good friend. Wei Chu then arrived, took the swimsuit from the girls, and told Yueshanxun he would deliver it himself. Feng Piaopiao, attempting to skip class due to the missing swimsuit, bumped into Wei Chu outside, who handed her the bag without a word.
During roll call, Feng Piaopiao arrived just in time, explaining her tardiness by saying her friend found her lost swimsuit. Soon after, Wei Chu sent her a text message, revealing that Aijia was behind the theft. Feng Piaopiao, having reached her breaking point, confronted Aijia, warning her not to engage in such "little tricks behind her back" again and pushing her into the swimming pool as a deterrent.
This assertive action proved effective; not long after, Aijia publicly apologized to Feng Piaopiao in the newspaper, admitting her "stupid behavior." Xiao Xiao showed Feng Piaopiao the apology, remarking, "It seems that you scared her so much, still a little useful." Wei Chu, concerned about Yueshanxun's increasing closeness to Feng Piaopiao, sought advice from Bai Haiyang. Bai Haiyang, recognizing Wei Chu's true feelings, admitted he lacked experience in such matters and called Chen Bing for help.
Chen Bing immediately identified Wei Chu's "unease" and "hesitation" as jealousy. He advised Wei Chu to "seize the time" and "showcase his excellent qualities" to win Feng Piaopiao's heart. Wei Chu, though denying he was jealous and calling Chen Bing childish, secretly resolved to follow the advice. Later, during a Go lesson for exchange students from the Department of Painting and Calligraphy, Wei Chu, who was teaching, became distracted by Feng Piaopiao and Yueshanxun standing together.
Yueshanxun openly challenged Wei Chu's explanation of Go, suggesting that cultivating one's mind and nature, being "clumsy as a fool," and using "static brake" were paramount, referring to it as "chess character." Wei Chu countered that the true "way of Go" required five elements – "Art, character, principles, rules, and etiquette" – to be truly complete. The discussion was tense. After class, Jin Rou seized the opportunity to publicly question Wei Chu about his relationship with Feng Piaopiao. Wei Chu initially avoided the question but, pressed further, vaguely stated that "our relationship is more special than you think."
