Despite test results confirming the illegally discarded wastes and transporting truck were not theirs, the driver responsible remained at large, causing uncertainty about the factory's reopening. Chen Jingran expressed concern about compensating workers if they couldn't resume work, while Hua Mingyue firmly believed they were being framed.
Soon after, Attorney Qi called with good news, prompting Hua Mingyue and Chen Jingran to meet him at the factory. Workers had already gathered outside, expressing their unwavering support and willingness to face any outcome together, deeply moving everyone. With the official notice, everyone rejoiced as the factory could finally resume operations.
Although Chen Jingran and Qin Donghai had worked together to revive the First Factory and even shook hands for the first time, their rivalry as love interests quickly made them hostile towards each other again. Overjoyed by the factory's revival, Hua Mingyue stood on a rooftop, loudly declaring that Hua Mingchen should admit defeat and that she wouldn't let him harm their grandfather's factory. Chen Jingran, finding her behavior excessive, advised her to calm down.
Later, at a celebration, Hua Mingyue emotionally thanked everyone for their help, particularly Chen Jingran for suggesting they trace the transport vehicles and Qin Donghai for investigating the waste composition and managing the agitated crowd. As the celebration continued, Hua Mingyue became quite intoxicated and began to recount how she first met Qin Donghai. Qin Donghai, realizing her inebriation, tried to silence her, but she continued to express her feelings, complaining about his strictness and wishing he would be kinder to her. Meanwhile, Hua Mingchen was furious about the First Factory's success. Ye Xue Er tried to reason with him, pointing out that the board of directors acknowledged First Factory's achievements and that Hua Mingyue's success was beneficial to the group, even if she personally disliked Hua Mingyue.
Hua Mingchen curtly dismissed her, telling her to focus on her duties and not interfere with major company decisions. Hua Mingchen later met Chen Jingran for dinner, attempting to credit Chen Jingran solely for the First Factory's revival and to persuade him to bring the entire research and development team back to Flora headquarters. Chen Jingran refused, stating his work at First Factory was a good fit and that the product's success was a joint effort with Hua Mingyue.
He questioned the ethics of taking all the credit and accused Hua Mingchen of being too eager to use their family's logistics contract as leverage in his personal vendetta against his sister. Chen Jingran walked out, deeming it a private family matter. Immediately after Chen Jingran left, Miss Yao arrived at the club, confronting Hua Mingchen for standing her up. She emphasized that a marriage alliance between their families was his best option given his current situation.
Hua Mingchen remained defiant, reiterating that the matter was not up for discussion. Miss Yao revealed she knew he was avoiding the alliance because of Ye Xue Er and criticized him for not giving Ye Xue Er a proper status. Hua Mingchen retorted by questioning Miss Yao's own relationship status and insultingly called her "repulsive to the opposite sex." Enraged, Miss Yao stormed out, vowing to teach him what respect meant, and drove off with her driver to drink.
The factory organized a picnic outing for its employees. Chen Jingran, observing Hua Mingyue and Qin Donghai together, grew increasingly jealous. When employees affectionately referred to Hua Mingyue as "Xiaoqin" and Qin Donghai as her "husband," Chen Jingran tried to clarify that Qin Donghai was not Hua Mingyue's husband. However, Gao Ren quickly intervened, diverting everyone to play games. During one game, Qin Donghai was prompted to list Hua Mingyue's good qualities.
He started with playful criticisms, describing her as sometimes unwise, clumsy, prone to causing trouble, misusing idioms, demanding, inconsiderate, self-centered, generally inefficient, and overly vain. Yet, he then earnestly praised her: she strives to fulfill her promises, finds joy in simple things, is empathetic, understands others' difficulties, thinks of others, and always shows kindness even when wronged. He concluded by calling her a lovely and genuine girl who is unaware of her many virtues.
Hua Mingyue was deeply touched by his sincere words, while Chen Jingran grew even more determined to expose their fake relationship. That evening, employees playfully encouraged Qin Donghai and Hua Mingyue to retire to their shared room as a couple, despite Chen Jingran's futile attempts to stop them. Inside, Hua Mingyue asked Qin Donghai if his earlier heartfelt words were true, to which he confirmed they were. As they leaned in for a kiss, they were interrupted by a knocking.
A worker announced that He Yanyan was missing. Qin Donghai quickly dressed, and everyone began searching for He Yanyan. They eventually found her calling for help in a steep gully. With the professional rescue team still forty minutes away, Qin Donghai decided he and Hao Shuai had to descend immediately. Hua Mingyue argued against the dangerous descent without proper equipment, but Qin Donghai insisted that waiting was not an option, reminding her that they were the rescue team.
He assigned Gao Ren to lighting and Chen Jingran to assist him. Qin Donghai and Hao Shuai successfully rescued He Yanyan, who sustained a left calf injury. However, Hao Shuai also suffered a head injury, and Qin Donghai appeared to have minor injuries. Hua Mingyue angrily confronted Qin Donghai, accusing him of reckless behavior and prioritizing others' safety over his own and Hao Shuai's. Qin Donghai countered that rescue demanded immediate action.
After a heated exchange, he simply stated she was right and walked away, leaving her alone in the woods. Later, Qi Fei found a distraught Hua Mingyue. He revealed Qin Donghai's tragic past: during a warehouse fire, ten of their squad members died due to concealed flammable materials. Qin Donghai, believing they could extinguish the fire, pushed them forward, resulting in the heavy loss.
Qi Fei himself was severely injured, losing the use of his legs, and Qin Donghai also suffered leg injuries in the incident. This tragedy forced them to retire. Qin Donghai carries immense guilt, especially for a fallen comrade, Jianguo, who was about to marry. Qi Fei explained that Qin Donghai’s intense commitment to rescue work and his avoidance of romantic relationships stemmed from this profound trauma.
He also mentioned Qin Donghai's solemn vow to continue saving lives until he reunited with his fallen comrades, promising never to forget them and dedicating his life to rescue in their honor. Hearing this, Hua Mingyue wept, realizing she had completely misunderstood Qin Donghai. The next morning, both Hua Mingyue and Qin Donghai apologized to each other. Hua Mingyue expressed remorse for her harsh words, now understanding his past.
Qin Donghai apologized for abandoning her, admitting his immaturity, and assured her that his past traumas were not her burden. He awkwardly brushed off their almost-kiss, suggesting time would heal everything. As they were about to return, Chen Jingran arrived with a suitcase, seeking refuge. He explained that Hua Mingchen, infuriated by the First Factory's revival and Chen Jingran's continued scientific research there, had pressured Chen Jingran's father, who in turn disowned Chen Jingran.
Qin Donghai suggested a hotel, but Chen Jingran pleaded with Hua Mingyue, highlighting their shared struggles and the "iron triangle" partnership of his research, Qin Donghai's sales, and Hua Mingyue's public relations. He appealed to her empathy, reminding her of her own past homelessness. When Qin Donghai remained unconvinced, Chen Jingran threatened to expose their fake marriage to the entire factory. Qin Donghai reluctantly agreed to let him stay.
On Chen Jingran's first morning at Qin Donghai's place, he complained of a sore back and waist, asking Hua Mingyue to apply a pain patch. He sarcastically remarked how "special" his stay was, and how his comrades treated him "like family." When asked where he slept, the comrades replied it was "self-service" and he had to make his own bed. They offered watermelon, but intentionally cut too little, leaving him none.
Chen Jingran then asked for a spare pillow and blanket, only to be told there were none, and no "extra people" either. Gao Ren even offered "Qin Xiaowang's pillow," which Chen Jingran refused due to its stench, indicating his unwelcome and uncomfortable stay. He was told to buy his own supplies the next day.
