Snow Fall Recap

Episode 1 Recap

*Tai Ping Jiu Yu Zhi* says: In the 970th year of the Chao calendar, a star fell from the sky and shattered into three parts, landing in the southwest.

The fragments fell into the hands of three families: the Wei family, who acquired the Blood Amber Stone and gained rapid power but at the cost of their lives; the Mu family, who obtained the Illusion Stone and could control human will but risked losing their own nature; and the Mo family, who possessed the Black Yang Stone and needed to endure severe trials to gain immense strength.

It is said that if the three stones are united, the backlash can be neutralized. Thus, for over a thousand years, the three families have been in constant conflict. On the day the Shen family met their misfortune, Shen Zhiheng contracted a strange illness, needing to drink blood to survive. To protect him, his grandmother took him on a journey, hiding and fleeing everywhere, using stolen chicken blood to keep him alive.

They traveled across the rivers and mountains, witnessing both joy and sorrow. Shen Zhiheng's desires grew fewer over time, and his only wish became to find the person who had caused his condition and his younger brother, Shen Zhiqian. After a hundred years of wandering, he found no root or result. A wealthy merchant from Haidong hosted a banquet today, but the guest of honor was the merchant’s concubine’s newly born son.

The merchant's wife was devastated and questioned her husband, but he was indifferent. “Whose child doesn’t have a banquet for their full moon? This is a chance to recognize her as a mother. Her biological daughter, Mi Lan, is a girl and also blind—can she even manage her? ” Mi Lan sat quietly in her room, holding a broken doll and listening to her parents' argument.

Because she was blind, Mi Lan's hearing was very sharp, and she even heard the sound of Shen Zhiheng entering downstairs. She also overheard Li Yingliang’s plan in the car; today, he had come to take Shen Zhiheng’s life. At the banquet, Li Yingliang, a man of great wickedness, was the subject of gossip. Meanwhile, upstairs, the merchant and his wife were having a hysterical argument. However, the prominent figures downstairs were not surprised and continued to enjoy the entertainment.

Li Yingliang kept a fierce gaze on Shen Zhiheng, while Shen Zhiheng heard the sounds of Mi Lan being violently beaten by her mother upstairs. Shen Zhiheng stood up and left, making Li Yingliang's attempt to offer him a cigarette seem rather ridiculous. Shen Zhiheng lit a cigarette by the window, and in an instant, the cigarette flew into Mi Lan’s mother’s hand, ending the beating of Mi Lan.

Li Yingliang, undeterred, chased after Shen Zhiheng to introduce himself, but Shen Zhiheng chose to ignore him. On the way, Shen Zhiheng's car broke down, and while walking, he was ambushed by Li Yingliang and his men, who ran him over with a car. Despite being hit by the car and shot in the head, Shen Zhiheng did not die.

They then fired dozens of bullets into his body and ran over him several times with the car before he finally stopped moving. Afterwards, Li Yingliang’s subordinates found it strange; how could Shen Zhiheng still get up after such severe injuries? Li Yingliang was convinced that Shen Zhiheng was truly dead, but there was no body to be found. Mi Lan, long subjected to domestic violence by her mother, decided to end her life that night.

She walked through the snow-covered streets in her coat, pondering where to end her life. She quietly entered a ruin that smelled of burning, thinking no one would know if she died there. Shen Zhiheng was there; he had not died but was severely injured. Mi Lan smelled a strong scent of blood and, upon realizing that she could not see, Shen Zhiheng felt relieved and asked for her help.

She said she was there to die, but Shen Zhiheng begged her not to die and that he needed her. Mi Lan, experiencing an unprecedented feeling, nodded heavily and agreed to his request. Before leaving, Mi Lan draped her coat over Shen Zhiheng and promised to call her friends for help. Mi Lan stood up and headed towards the Mi residence.

Li Yingliang, seeing a young girl wandering the streets, thought of his own sister and kindly got out of his car to ask her. Upon discovering she was Miss Mi, he offered to take her home. The servants helped Mi Lan wash her hands, removing the blood from Shen Zhiheng. Reflexively, she splashed some water on her face and, upon opening her eyes, Mi Lan could see everything—she saw her own reflection in the mirror!

Episode 2 Recap

Mi Lan only saw the world for a moment before darkness returned. She found it unbelievable but decided to keep the matter hidden for now. The next morning, Mi Lan went to the hospital Shen Zhiheng had mentioned to find Dr. Situ Weilian. The nurse said Dr. Situ was busy, so Mi Lan waited in the office. Dr.

Situ Weilian seemed to have some vague meaning before mentioning Shen Zhiheng's name, but when he heard Shen Zhiheng's name, he immediately became serious and closed the door. Mi Lan hoped that Dr. Situ Weilian would go save Shen Zhiheng immediately since he was severely injured and might die if help was delayed. However, Dr. Situ Weilian was confident that Shen Zhiheng would not die and promised he would go save him that night.

Mi Lan was somewhat skeptical but got close enough to remember his scent, threatening that if he did not go, she would come back to find him. In the middle of the night, Dr. Situ Weilian brought Shen Zhiheng back home and removed the bullets from his body. Mi Lan's mother discovered that she had sneaked out during the night and beat her again, venting all her anger towards her disabled daughter.

Mi Lan had become accustomed to such beatings, remaining calm while worrying about Shen Zhiheng’s safety. Fortunately, Dr. Situ Weilian saved Shen Zhiheng, and he woke up safely. Li Yingliang, the Chairman of the Economic Committee of the National Government, was a man of immense power and ruthless methods. He was still angry about someone who had spoken ill of him previously, so he dragged the person over, gave him a beating, and forced him to sign a cooperation contract.

Li Yingliang went to report to Chi Shanying, believing that Shen Zhiheng was dead. Dr. Situ Weilian had found those who harmed Shen Zhiheng and mentioned Mi Lan, who had come alone to the hospital despite being blind and without telling her parents. Shen Zhiheng remembered this benefactor who had saved him and felt she was a person of integrity, so he visited the Mi residence late at night.

Shen Zhiheng was outside the window, and Mi Lan was delighted to smell his scent in the air, confirming that Dr. Situ Weilian had not lied to her. To reassure her, Shen Zhiheng lifted her hand to touch his face and told her he was better. He introduced himself as Shen Zhiheng and promised that he would help her if she was ever bullied.

Shen Zhiheng gave Mi Lan a gift of red tea and hoped she would take good care of it. When the flowers bloomed, he would come to see her. Hearing about the red color, Mi Lan felt a sudden hope and wanted to see the red he described and Shen Zhiheng’s appearance. Ten days later, the red tea flowers bloomed. After staying at Dr. Situ Weilian’s house for so long, Shen Zhiheng finally decided to go home.

He valued his reputation greatly and did not want others to see him in such a disheveled state after escaping death. Li Yingliang sent two people to watch the Shen residence, and when they saw someone enter, they quickly reported it. Shen Zhiheng's injuries were severe, and he couldn’t even eat normal food. Dr. Situ Weilian warned that if he continued to resist the craving for blood, he would become a monster that could only feed on blood.

Shen Zhiheng needed to find the person who had turned him into this state. Shen Zhiheng did not die, which made Li Yingliang furious, and he was determined that Chi Shanying must not find out. Jin Jingxue wanted Li Yingliang to accompany her to a dance party. At the party, he saw Shen Zhiheng with his own eyes, and was shocked and filled with disbelief. Was this man a substitute for Shen Zhiheng? Li Yingliang made an excuse to leave and began to investigate the truth step by step but could not get any closer.

Episode 3 Recap

Li Yingliang finally saw Shen Zhiheng in person on the second floor. Shen Zhiheng was casually smoking a cigarette; his illness was severe, and he remembered Li Yingliang well this time. Li Yingliang quickly masked his shock and invited Shen Zhiheng to dinner the next evening. Shen Zhiheng agreed but warned Li Yingliang to get a good night's sleep because the following night would be significant for him.

After Li Yingliang left, Jin Jingxue and Situ Weilian danced together and became friends. Upon returning home, Li Yingliang locked the doors and windows with three bolts. Fearing assassination after recalling Shen Zhiheng's warning, he spent the night hiding in the bathroom. The next day, Shen Zhiheng had someone come to clean his home. Although the place had few items, they were all valuable antiques, and the locked rooms were to remain undisturbed.

Mi Lan received winter clothes from her father but was more concerned about the pot of red tea flowers. The newspaper reported a beast attacking people, which reminded Shen Zhiheng of his younger brother. If the beast was indeed his brother, Shen Zhiheng had to stop him from committing further atrocities. Hearing her parents argue, Mi Lan knew she would be beaten again. Clutching the red tea flowers, she was still struck by her mother, who shattered the pot.

Mi Lan, who had never resisted before, picked up a nearby chair, further enraging her mother, who ordered the door to be locked and denied her water and food, intending to starve her. Panicked, Mi Lan picked up the broken flowers from the floor, cried, and then cut off her long hair with scissors. Chi Shanying was shocked to learn that Shen Zhiheng was not dead.

To his surprise, Shen Zhiheng was meeting with Li Yingliang, so he decided to join the scene. The meeting between Shen Zhiheng and Li Yingliang was filled with hostility. Li Yingliang, filled with hatred towards Shen Zhiheng, still servilely offered him a cigarette and discussed work matters, hoping for leniency and promising valuable rewards. Shen Zhiheng found it amusing and laughed heartily, declaring that he wanted Li Yingliang’s life.

Both men quickly drew their guns, but Shen Zhiheng soon controlled Li Yingliang, gagged him, and prevented him from signaling for help by breaking any objects. Shen Zhiheng sought revenge for the injuries he had suffered, typically not so ruthless, but their actions had left no room for mercy, not even leaving a complete corpse. Chi Shanying arrived with his men just in time. Shen Zhiheng took Li Yingliang as a hostage to escape.

On the way, being pursued by Li Yingliang's men, he kicked Li Yingliang out of the car. Shen Zhiheng reached the French Concession, and Chi Shanying dared not pursue further. Killing was not Shen Zhiheng's principle, and he had not intended to kill Li Yingliang. When Li Yingliang woke up in the hospital, he had to explain to Chi Shanying, despite Chi Shanying’s disbelief.

Frustrated, Li Yingliang dispatched many people to monitor Shen Zhiheng and even ordered an investigation into his ancestors. Shen Zhiheng decided to take Situ Weilian to the Mi residence to express his gratitude in person. In the severe winter, Mi Lan trembled under a thin quilt on her bed. Upon hearing that Shen Zhiheng had come to thank her, she forced herself to get up. Mi Lan's mother was displeased with the visit and tried to refuse, claiming Mi Lan was not home and directly sending Shen Zhiheng away.

Episode 4 Recap

Shen Zhiheng and Situ Weilian rushed upstairs without a word when they heard commotion from above. They opened the door to find Mi Lan lying weakly on the floor. Noticing that Mi Lan had a fever, Shen Zhiheng and Situ Weilian took her from the Mi residence to the hospital. Mrs. Mi, seeing this, was enraged and took out her frustrations on the servants at home.

In her distress, she accidentally fell down the stairs and was also sent to the hospital. When Mi Lan woke up in the hospital, she was relieved to hear Shen Zhiheng's voice. To confirm if his illness had truly improved, Mi Lan lifted her hand, and Shen Zhiheng quickly moved closer to her. Upon hearing that Mi Lan had cut her own hair because her mother used to pull it during beatings, Shen Zhiheng felt a pang of sympathy.

He took out a seal engraved with the word "诺" (promise), symbolizing his commitment to be there for her whenever needed. Despite his strong craving for blood in the blood-scented hospital environment, Shen Zhiheng managed to suppress it. Jin Jingxue visited the hospital to see Li Yingliang. She had always hoped Li Yingliang would work with her instead of Chi Shanying, even wishing he could stay by her side forever, like when he was a child at the Jin residence.

Shen Zhiheng brought flowers to visit Mi Lan, who had grown accustomed to his presence. With him around, she felt comforted and warm. Shen Zhiheng took her out to experience the snow, colors, and the world she had never seen before. Li Yingliang found Shen Zhiheng and Mi Lan's situation very strange. He arranged for someone to watch Shen Zhiheng at the Shen residence constantly.

Jin Jingxue visited Li Yingliang daily to care for him, repeatedly reminding him to protect himself. Li Yingliang, impatient with Jin Jingxue's constant visits, rushed to the hospital to handle his discharge paperwork, and went to Shenzi's home where the arrangements were quite nice, including a special quilt prepared for him. When Shen Zhiheng left the hospital, he encountered a friend who mentioned a fortune teller knowledgeable about worldly matters.

Shen Zhiheng decided to investigate, hoping to find his brother, though he wasn't sure if he could. Arriving at the fortune teller's place, he was surprised to find the man had been waiting for him. Mr. Mo knew Shen Zhiheng had survived for a century, making Shen Zhiheng cautious, though Mr. Mo claimed he meant no harm. Mr. Mo revealed that Mi Lan's aunt, Wei Qiu, was one of the three families.

Originally a gentle woman, Wei Qiu's personality changed drastically after acquiring the Blood Amber Stone, which gave her extraordinary abilities. Strictly speaking, Shen Zhiheng was now a patient, and finding the Blood Amber Stone might cure him. However, it was uncertain whether Wei Qiu or the Mu family possessed it.

The Mu family, who had the Illusion Stone with the power to control minds, believed that uniting all three stones could save them, leading to their fierce conflict with Wei Qiu. Shen Zhiheng wondered if Mr. Mo was also a member of the three families. Mr. Mo didn't answer directly, saying Shen Zhiheng would know if fate allowed. Before Shen Zhiheng left, Mr. Mo gave him a cup of tea, during which Shen Zhiheng saw Wei Qiu in a daze.

When he woke up again, Mr. Mo had vanished, leaving behind a golden crow with a note saying it was very spiritual and hoping Shen Zhiheng would treat it well. Shen Zhiheng had the newspaper report new sightings of a beast that drained blood, hoping his younger brother would appear. Late at night, a masked figure entered the morgue but encountered Shen Zhiheng, who had been lying in wait.

Shen Zhiheng chased the figure, trying to unmask him, but their abilities were evenly matched, allowing the figure to escape. Back in the morgue, Shen Zhiheng saw Situ Weilian demanding to enter, claiming the director had sent him for the autopsy report. Shen Zhiheng, still enraged, was certain the person he had encountered was his brother. His anger was not due to a lack of revenge but because his only relative did not recognize him!

Situ Weilian tried to calm him, wondering if he was unsure how to confront Shen Zhiheng. Late at night, Shen Zhiheng went to the ancestral hall to pay his respects. An undercover agent, who was secretly investigating, was discovered. The agent, terrified by Shen Zhiheng's presence, fled the yard in panic, claiming to have seen a monster.

Episode 5 Recap

Jin Jingxue went to the hospital early in the morning but found that Li Yingliang was missing. Realizing he was avoiding her, she went to his house only to find it locked. Jin Jingxue left the food she brought at his doorstep but, feeling frustrated, ended up giving it to a beggar nearby. While having Western food at a restaurant, Situ Weilian, pretending to be blind, approached her.

Jin Jingxue was charmed by him and even asked him to accompany her to see a play. Mi Lan was in the corridor, feeling the snow. Although she had recovered from her illness, she was reluctant to go home. She rubbed the cold snow on her face and even ate some of it. Shen Zhiheng quickly stopped her, hoping she wouldn’t harm herself. He promised to rescue her from any dire situation.

Jin Jingxue enjoyed going to the theater because Li Yingliang used to take her when she was young. She used to tease him, but he later saved her, and she felt she owed her current self to him. Although Li Yingliang had a bad reputation, Jin Jingxue’s affection for him was not something to be hidden. Li Yingliang, not disheartened, believed that even if Jin Jingxue didn’t agree to pursue him romantically, they could still be friends.

Li Yingliang speculated about the relationship between Shen Zhiheng and Mi Lan, wondering what had happened between them. Shen Zhiheng suddenly realized that he was not in love with Mi Lan but felt indebted to her. The next day, Li Yingliang went to the hospital, seeking to make peace with Shen Zhiheng. Situ Weilian arranged Mi Lan’s discharge, and Shen Zhiheng asked him why he wasn’t afraid when they first met.

At that time, Shen Zhiheng was drinking chicken blood, and Situ Weilian had not only been unafraid but had also casually pointed out that it was chicken from the hospital. Changing the topic, Situ Weilian teased Shen Zhiheng that he could marry Mi Lan in a few days. Shen Zhiheng did not pursue the matter further, noting that Mi Lan should not stay in the attic when she returned home but should meet some new friends.

Mi Lan was waiting at the hospital entrance for Shen Zhiheng to complete the paperwork when she heard Li Yingliang’s voice and remembered him. Shen Zhiheng was disdainful of Li Yingliang, who repeatedly assured him he meant no harm. However, Shen Zhiheng hoped they would keep their distance, or else he might take extreme measures. Mi Lan overheard their conversation and shared her encounter with Li Yingliang.

Knowing that Li Yingliang intended to harm Shen Zhiheng, Mi Lan resolved not to let him hurt Shen Zhiheng again. Shen Zhiheng signed Mi Lan up for a choir class and promised to introduce her to some friends in a few days. Shen Zhiheng took Mi Lan back to the Mi residence and warned Mrs. Mi repeatedly. Enraged, Mrs. Mi grabbed a duster and went to Mi Lan’s attic, but Mi Lan barricaded the door, preventing her from entering.

When Shen Zhiheng and Mi Lan were about to leave, Mrs. Mi had been verbally abusive towards Mi Lan but suddenly put on a façade of motherly affection upon seeing Shen Zhiheng. Li Yingliang conducted an investigation into Shen Zhiheng and found him to be very mysterious. He was uninterested in women and had no close friends, making him seem enigmatic.

To investigate further, Li Yingliang visited Mi Lan, hoping she would help convey a message to Shen Zhiheng and mediate. Mi Lan agreed but asked Li Yingliang if she was unattractive. Li Yingliang, unusually gentle, sincerely replied that she was not unattractive and resembled his younger sister. He had once thought his sister was a great beauty and would have married into a wealthy family, but sadly, she had already passed away.

Shen Zhiheng was unhappy about Mi Lan’s involvement in this matter, suspecting that Li Yingliang was smart enough to realize that Mi Lan had saved him that night and might become attached to her. Mi Lan, not wanting to trouble Shen Zhiheng, decided to stay hidden at home.

Episode 6 Recap

Shen Zhiheng found Li Yingliang intriguing, while Situ Weilian was somewhat perplexed. Since they feared Li Yingliang might go after Mi Lan, why not just eliminate him directly? Shen Zhiheng went to Li Yingliang's office without showing any emotion. Li Yingliang courteously invited him inside, and Situ Weilian saw that Li Yingliang, as described by Jin Jingxue, was just as he had expected. Shen Zhiheng did not want Li Yingliang to approach Mi Lan.

Li Yingliang was direct, admitting that if not for Mi Lan that night, Shen Zhiheng wouldn’t have survived. He was genuinely curious as to how Shen Zhiheng managed to live through such injuries, which seemed illogical. To uncover the truth, Li Yingliang even swore an oath. Shen Zhiheng, with a hint of mockery, confessed, “I am a monster. ” Li Yingliang clearly did not believe this.

Shen Zhiheng did not elaborate further; what mattered was whether Li Yingliang could survive, not who Shen Zhiheng was. Shen Zhiheng declined Li Yingliang’s invitation for a meal and took him away, leaving Situ Weilian and others looking worried. Shen Zhiheng appeared somewhat irritable, reminding Li Yingliang that after today, they should not meet again, or he would be finished! Worried that Mrs.

Mi would continue to mistreat Mi Lan if she stayed at home, Shen Zhiheng asked Situ Weilian for advice. Situ Weilian suggested that Shen Zhiheng dress as a ghost to scare Mrs. Mi. Shen Zhiheng donned a white outfit, and Situ Weilian insisted on adding an ugly makeup. Despite Shen Zhiheng's reluctance, he agreed. Mi Lan, sitting by the window, was delighted to smell Shen Zhiheng’s presence. Shen Zhiheng told her he intended to help her escape her mother’s clutches.

Although this was a normal life for her, no one should be subjected to daily abuse. Shen Zhiheng inquired about Mrs. Mi’s bedroom and urged Mi Lan to go to sleep while he went to Mrs. Mi’s room. Mrs. Mi, waking up to the terrifying “ghost,” was extremely frightened. Shen Zhiheng, playing the part of the Mi family’s ancestor, thoroughly scared her before leaving. After Shen Zhiheng left, the entire Mi household echoed with Mrs. Mi’s terrified screams.

Since then, Mrs. Mi’s mental state deteriorated. Aunt Zhang arranged for a male bodyguard to guard the door, but an unspeakable incident occurred between them that night. The next morning’s news reported that Mrs. Mi had eloped with someone. Li Yingliang heard that Shen Zhiheng had not visited Mi Lan again and thought he might have overestimated her importance to Shen Zhiheng. With Mrs. Mi gone, Mi Lan's life improved significantly.

Shen Zhiheng sent Situ Weilian to handle matters at the Mi residence, distributing red envelopes to the servants. Situ Weilian joked that Shen Zhiheng’s constant attention to Mi Lan might lead her to misunderstand his intentions, but for Shen Zhiheng, love was not something he should have. Li Yingliang brought the police to investigate Shen Zhiheng’s residence, and they arrived fully prepared with official documents. Shen Zhiheng, unguarded, went to the police station for questioning.

Li Yingliang knew that Shen Zhiheng was someone who abided by rules and did not kill, which presented an opportunity. Li Yingliang demanded that Shen Zhiheng be detained as long as possible and sent people to take photos and spread negative rumors to ruin his reputation. After waiting a long time with no one coming for questioning, Shen Zhiheng could no longer tolerate it and called for Li Yingliang. Li Yingliang’s attitude remained arrogant.

Shen Zhiheng spent three days there, showing no reaction to Li Yingliang’s various tactics. Frustrated, Li Yingliang brought a dying prisoner before Shen Zhiheng.

Episode 7 Recap

The person in front of Shen Zhiheng was desperately crying for help, and Shen Zhiheng's thirst for blood grew stronger. He angrily questioned Li Yingliang, asking if he didn't treat others as human, then what was he himself? Mi Lan, worried by the discussions among the servants about Shen Zhiheng's arrest, went to the hospital alone to find Situ Weilian.

However, Situ Weilian was preparing for surgery, and Shen Zhiheng was the most upright person, so how could he possibly be in the police station? Shen Zhiheng suppressed his thirst for blood while the person across from him gradually lost their breath. Only then did Shen Zhiheng walk over and cover him with his own cloak to preserve the last bit of dignity. Turning away, Shen Zhiheng shed a tear.

Mi Lan arrived at her father’s and the eighth aunt’s house, where they were packing to flee south. Mi Father did not show much emotion about Mrs. Mi's departure and even comforted Mi Lan, saying it was for the best since no one would beat her anymore. Mi Father wanted Mi Lan to come with them but was warned by the eighth aunt. Shen Zhiheng requested to see his personal doctor but was refused by Li Yingliang.

Meanwhile, many people gathered outside the police station demanding Shen Zhiheng’s release. The police station could no longer hold out and strongly urged Li Yingliang to release him. Li Yingliang, however, regarded them as rioters and sent Sheng Zi to suppress them with force, allowing the police to lawfully arrest people. Shen Zhiheng despised Li Yingliang’s shamelessness.

At that moment, Mi Lan was pleading with her father to save Shen Zhiheng, saying she didn't know any other wealthy people in Haidong. Mi Father initially didn’t want to get involved but made a call to someone he knew. The response was that there was no way to help, and with the eighth aunt urging them to catch the train, Mi Father hurriedly left, leaving Mi Lan with some money.

Situ Weilian also received the news of Shen Zhiheng’s arrest and went to Jin Jingxue for help. Shen Zhiheng was not just his friend but his closest kin. Li Yingliang had also captured reporters from the Haidong Daily to use as leverage against Shen Zhiheng. Jin Jingxue and Situ Weilian arrived at the police station. Jin Jingxue intended to plead for Shen Zhiheng but was surprised to hear that Li Yingliang claimed Shen Zhiheng had harmed him.

Jin Jingxue immediately stood in front of him. The district chief of Xia Cheng called to threaten the police station to release Shen Zhiheng. Jin Jingxue also advised Li Yingliang not to escalate the situation, but Li Yingliang publicly yelled at her, causing Jin Jingxue to leave in anger. Mi Lan went to the police station claiming she wanted to report a crime, tearfully saying she had been insulted by Shen Zhiheng. Shen Zhiheng, gripping the bars, was momentarily stunned.

Mi Lan demanded to touch Shen Zhiheng’s face again to confirm if he was the one who insulted her that day. She approached Shen Zhiheng, pretending to touch his face. By now, many reporters had gathered at the police station. Mi Lan bit her own lip and kissed Shen Zhiheng, causing an uproar. Mi Lan also briefly saw the truth. Li Yingliang, who had been scolding Shen Zhiheng, saw this scene and quickly pulled Mi Lan away.

Mi Lan denied it, saying she had mistaken him. With Mi Lan’s blood, Shen Zhiheng’s health improved. Chi Shanying hurriedly came to release Shen Zhiheng, stating that the situation could not continue. Shen Zhiheng was determined not to let things end here and vowed to properly “thank” Li Yingliang. He took Mi Lan’s hand and left the chaotic place. Chi Shanying, infuriated, slapped Li Yingliang and warned that Miss Mu from the Mu family would soon come to help them.

He instructed Li Yingliang not to provoke Shen Zhiheng during this period and to treat Miss Mu well. Shen Zhiheng, exhausted from the ordeal at the police station, fainted as soon as he returned to Shen Residence. He mustered his remaining strength to have Mi Lan stay by his side and instructed the servants to contact Situ Weilian the next morning. Shen Zhiheng suddenly collapsed, and Mi Lan, terrified, stayed by his side. Jin Jingxue once again refused Situ Weilian.

Their relationship had never been based on mutual benefit, and now that he had found her, their relationship was no longer the same. At the gate of the Jin family, Li Yingliang lingered for a long time, feeling quite guilty.

Episode 8 Recap

Mi Lan stayed by Shen Zhiheng’s side all night, not moving at all. It wasn’t until the next day, when Situ Weilian arrived, that Mi Lan seemed to have found a lifeline. Situ Weilian comforted her, saying that Shen Zhiheng had been in such situations before and advised her not to worry too much. Mi Lan was reluctant to rest and stayed by Shen Zhiheng’s side, and after a long time, Shen Zhiheng finally recovered.

Mi Lan curiously wandered around Shen Residence, feeling a bit out of place in the unfamiliar environment. Shen Zhiheng also struggled with adjusting, often forgetting that Mi Lan couldn’t see. Because Mi Lan was blind, she would sometimes walk in while Shen Zhiheng was bathing. Shen Zhiheng, startled, didn’t dare to move or make a sound, while Mi Lan, feeling her way around the room, realized he was bathing and quickly ran out.

Jin Jingxue visited Li Yingliang and even brought cooked dumplings. Li Yingliang’s home was filled with iron bars, and Jin Jingxue was very concerned about Li Yingliang’s living conditions. However, these words only came across as disdain to Li Yingliang, who, in a fit of rage, chased Jin Jingxue away. Situ Weilian struggled to understand Shen Zhiheng’s intentions.

After all, Shen Zhiheng had previously said that for Mi Lan’s safety, she couldn’t be brought back, but now he had arranged for Mi Lan to stay at his own home. After much thought, Situ Weilian felt conflicted, wondering what would happen if they both needed each other. Mi Lan, blushing, turned to check on Shen Zhiheng. Recently, he had been sleeping more and more. Situ Weilian said Shen Zhiheng’s health was deteriorating, but Mi Lan was still worried.

She sniffed around the bed with her nose, and when Shen Zhiheng saw her face getting closer, he couldn’t help but speak up. Mi Lan fled in a hurry once again. During mealtime, Situ Weilian talked about the gossip from the Haidong Daily, specifically the headline “Shen Zhiheng and Mi Lan Seal Their Love with a Kiss,” in front of everyone. Shen Zhiheng immediately snatched the newspaper away.

Mi Lan was very obedient to Shen Zhiheng; even though she didn’t like drinking milk, she would drink it all when he ordered her to. Shen Zhiheng took Mi Lan to the newspaper office, where Mi Lan was intrigued by the strong smell of ink. It was her first time there. Mi Lan asked Shen Zhiheng why he wanted to run a newspaper, and Shen Zhiheng replied that it might be the best way for him to achieve his ideals.

Many people from the company had gone to the police station to rescue Shen Zhiheng. Although Shen Zhiheng scolded them, he still rewarded them and took the opportunity to criticize the gossip about him harshly. Mu Lihua boldly arrived in Haidong, coming for the extraordinarily capable Shen Zhiheng. Chi Shanying instructed Li Yingliang to cooperate with her. Situ Weilian brought a gift for Mi Lan, a Nine Linked Rings puzzle, which made her very happy.

Many people still kept watch outside Shen Residence, but Shen Zhiheng had his own pursuits. Shen Zhiheng told Situ Weilian that Mi Lan’s pupils changed when she kissed him, and perhaps his blood could help her see. Situ Weilian suggested a test. He mixed Shen Zhiheng’s blood into some milk and had Mi Lan drink it, then observed from the side.

As expected, after drinking the milk, Mi Lan saw the world again, but, like before, it was only for a moment. Shen Zhiheng and Situ Weilian took Mi Lan to the hospital, but as she was congenitally blind, the chances of curing her with current medical conditions were very slim. Mu Lihua claimed to have a secret weapon against Shen Zhiheng and spent the night demonstrating it. Li Yingliang, seeing the results, was deeply impressed. Shen Zhiheng and Mi Lan went to the theater to watch a performance. Mi Lan enjoyed the story of Zhu Yingtai greatly.

Episode 9 Recap

Li Yingliang, in a daze during his sleep, saw Shen Zhiheng’s figure and, frightened, fired several shots at a chair. Only after gripping the gun tightly could he calm down and fall back asleep. Mu Lihua wanted to learn more about Shen Zhiheng and was feeling very anxious. At Shen Residence, Shen Zhiheng was teaching Mi Lan to write. Mi Lan, being blind, couldn’t read or write, and her parents had never considered sending her to school.

Now, Mi Lan only recognized the characters “沈” (Shen) and “诺” (Nuò). Jin Jingxue, seeing Li Yingliang and Mu Lihua together, was infuriated and rushed up to them but was stopped by Shengzi, which left her fuming. Li Yingliang dined and drank with Jin Jingxue. He overheard people in the casino downstairs talking disparagingly about Jin Jingxue, with disgusting and vile remarks. Li Yingliang, enraged, along with Shengzi, beat up everyone in the room.

Mu Lihua believed that Shen Zhiheng was the person they were looking for and thought that Li Yingliang was also a usable ally. Since the Mu family never lived past thirty, Mu Lihua was determined not to miss any opportunity. Shen Zhiheng learned that Mu Lihua had come to Haidong and that she was already thirty years old, which was significant as the Mu family members never lived beyond thirty.

Shen Zhiheng had someone investigate Mu Lihua’s address and went to check it out late at night. However, Mu Lihua did not appear, and Shen Zhiheng was injured, making him realize that Mu Lihua was definitely not someone to be underestimated. Shen Zhiheng bought steaming buns for Mi Lan for breakfast. He told her that he would be leaving Haidong for a few days to take care of some matters.

If Haidong turned out to be unsuitable, they would have to leave. Mi Lan wanted to go with him, but Shen Zhiheng wanted her to stay. To protect Mi Lan, Shen Zhiheng staged a scene for the watchers, pretending to argue loudly with Mi Lan at the door before she returned alone to Mi Residence.

Zhang Ma took good care of Mi Lan at Mi Residence and was worried that Shen Zhiheng might not come back, but Mi Lan knew he wouldn’t abandon her. Li Yingliang received news that Shen Zhiheng had fled and would not return to Haidong, but he was unwilling to give up. Their grudges were far from settled. Mu Lihua was furious upon learning that Shen Zhiheng’s whereabouts were unknown. She had traveled a long distance to Haidong just for him.

Chi Shanying instructed Li Yingliang to find Shen Zhiheng’s location. Mu Lihua decided to stay put, believing that finding him could break the family curse. Shen Zhiheng found Mr. Mo, knowing that Mr. Mo was definitely not an outsider. The Xuan Yang Stone had been stolen by the Mo family, but they continued to benefit from its energy, remaining immortal. Situ Weilian went to Jin Jingxue’s home to have a meal and brought a gift.

With Shen Zhiheng gone, Situ Weilian had less to do and was becoming increasingly diligent at work. Li Yingliang saw Zhang Ma as the only breakthrough and soon found a flaw in her. Li Yingliang and his men arrived at Mi Residence. Mi Lan remained calm upon sensing his presence, but Li Yingliang, enraged, beat her.

Even so, Mi Lan refused to reveal Shen Zhiheng’s whereabouts, though Zhang Ma mentioned that Shen Zhiheng would come to pick up Mi Lan, leading Li Yingliang to set up an ambush. When Shen Zhiheng returned to Mi Residence, it was fraught with danger. Mu Lihua’s secret weapon was a fully armored “person,” which Shen Zhiheng found hard to resist. Mi Lan was imprisoned in a cage, and Li Yingliang used this to coerce Shen Zhiheng into coming with them.

Episode 10 Recap

Shen Zhiheng fell into Li Yingliang's trap and was imprisoned in a cell. Li Yingliang looked smug and contemptuous, and Shen Zhiheng noticed that the cage was electrified, making it impossible for him to escape. Mi Lan was closely watched by the police and couldn’t leave Mi Residence, but she was still worried about Shen Zhiheng. Mu Lihua and Li Yingliang arrived at the cell where Shen Zhiheng was being held.

This was Mu Lihua’s first meeting with Shen Zhiheng, and her eyes were cold and unfriendly. Shen Zhiheng was deeply troubled; he knew the capabilities of the woman in front of him and feared that this time he might be doomed. At night, when most of the police were resting, Mi Lan quietly changed her clothes, made a rope out of her clothes, and threw it down from the attic, attempting to escape Mi Residence.

However, she was quickly recaptured by the police. Mi Lan, now frustrated, demanded to see Li Yingliang. Mu Lihua used many methods against Shen Zhiheng, and she and Li Yingliang remained with him without leaving. Li Yingliang, upon learning that Mi Lan wanted to see him, came over.

Mi Lan was deeply worried that Li Yingliang might kill Shen Zhiheng and pleaded with him, but to Li Yingliang, Shen Zhiheng was not a good person; he was just someone who needed to be dealt with. Mi Lan felt disheartened; Shen Zhiheng had been very kind to her, and she did not want anything bad to happen to him. Mu Lihua and Li Yingliang’s people kept watch on Shen Zhiheng in the cell, but Shen Zhiheng remained quiet.

Mu Lihua thought that continuing like this would be futile and decided that action must be taken that night. Shen Zhiheng, having heard this, resolved to find a way to escape. That night, he managed to open the cell door and defeat the police who came to stop him. He fought back fiercely. Faced with resistance, Shen Zhiheng killed a police officer with his own hands. Mu Lihua coldly controlled the situation.

As more and more police arrived, Shen Zhiheng’s actions became increasingly uncontrollable, and the blood aroused his madness. Li Yingliang and Chi Shanying stationed their men outside and even arranged heavy weapons for guard duty. Shen Zhiheng killed many people and opened the main door, only to be greeted by a hail of bullets. Li Yingliang and Chi Shanying, thinking that Shen Zhiheng was dead, went into the dungeon, only to find Shen Zhiheng, bloodied, floating in the air.

Everyone was terrified and hid, but Shen Zhiheng's escape was unsuccessful. He was controlled by Mu Lihua’s electric net and then sent to the laboratory. Both Chi Shanying and Li Yingliang were curious about whether he was still human. Shen Zhiheng’s injuries would have killed a normal person several times over, and he felt no pain. Chi Shanying had an evil idea—if their soldiers could be like Shen Zhiheng, with a little training, they would be invincible.

Shen Zhiheng finally woke up, and Li Yingliang continued to provoke him with words. Shen Zhiheng was extremely weak and eventually agreed to cooperate. He was stripped naked and chained, losing the dignity and respect he had always maintained in front of Li Yingliang.

Episode 11 Recap

Shen Zhiheng’s self-esteem was brutally shattered. He tried to ask Li Yingliang to help him put on some clothes—after all, it was quite indecent to talk in his current state—but Li Yingliang's words cut even deeper. Li Yingliang claimed Shen Zhiheng wasn’t even human and shouted for him to show his tail, saying he wasn’t human so what did he need clothes for? Shen Zhiheng lowered his eyes, helplessly trying to maintain his last shred of dignity.

His only request was to be given some clothes. Li Yingliang told him to beg. Shen Zhiheng’s eyes welled up as he pleaded, and only then did Li Yingliang relent. Shen Zhiheng agreed to cooperate. Mu Lihua was delighted to hear the news, but when she touched the ring with the Illusion Stone, she suffered a backlash that nearly ruined her body.

Her ancestors had warned her to use the Illusion Stone’s power with caution, but she used it anyway—how else could she have caught Shen Zhiheng? Shen Zhiheng finally got dressed, though he still wore the mask they gave him. Li Yingliang remained arrogant. He had no idea what Shen Zhiheng really was, and neither did Shen Zhiheng himself. He began talking about his stepmother. His father had left home and met her, and they had a child.

Later, the father brought them both home. But his grandmother hated them and, when the father wasn’t around, tried to burn them alive. Shen Zhiheng couldn’t bear to watch and rushed to plead with his grandmother. Seeing her child in danger, the stepmother’s power erupted, and she went on a killing spree. It was then that Shen Zhiheng contracted his strange illness. He asked what happened to his stepmother and brother. Shen Zhiheng calmly replied, “They’re dead.

” After reaching 100 years old, he stopped counting his age. Li Yingliang was shocked—Shen Zhiheng didn’t look over a hundred at all. Li Yingliang believed they shared a deep enmity and harbored boundless hatred toward him. Shen Zhiheng, however, was confused when he saw Li Yingliang’s tears fall uncontrollably. Li Yingliang left the dungeon and sent Shengzi to bring food to Shen Zhiheng. Shen Zhiheng still remembered Shengzi—he was the one who had killed him that night.

Shen Zhiheng even advised him to come work for him one day. With his skills, there was no need to serve under Li Yingliang forever. Shengzi believed Shen Zhiheng would never make it out alive and said he was too optimistic. Li Yingliang arrived at the empty theater. It had already closed for the day. A child approached him, and Li Yingliang gave him some money to turn off the lights.

Li Yingliang had grown up surviving in a theater, raising his sick little sister. When he met Shen Zhiheng, he thought he was a good man and begged him to treat his sister. One day, bandits attacked, and his sister was injured. He ran to Shen Zhiheng and begged him to save her, but Shen Zhiheng turned and walked away. Li Yingliang didn’t know about Shen Zhiheng’s blood craving, and he had hated him ever since.

Chi Shanying thought they should be wary of Mu Lihua and told Li Yingliang to find a chance to investigate her ring. Shen Zhiheng awoke in his holding area to find Li Yingliang sitting beside him, staring motionlessly. Shen Zhiheng found it amusing. Chi Shanying came to examine him, and Shen Zhiheng laughed for a long time. Li Yingliang finally unbound him and treated him somewhat like a person.

After bringing Shen Zhiheng above ground, Mu Lihua thoroughly inspected him, then sent him on stage for a checkup. Situ Weilian couldn’t help thinking about Shen Zhiheng. He had been gone too long—what if something had happened to him? After the examination, Li Yingliang once again accused Shen Zhiheng with hatred. Shen Zhiheng couldn’t understand—he was sure they had never met before. His physical exam revealed nothing abnormal. Mu Lihua suggested further tests in Binjiang.

Cheng Yushan agreed but privately warned Li Yingliang to be wary of Mu Lihua. If Shen Zhiheng couldn’t be used, he must be eliminated. Jin Jingxue stood on the attic watching Li Yingliang’s car. It was her birthday, and many guests were celebrating downstairs, but she only wished to see Li Yingliang. After waiting a long time and seeing he still hadn’t gotten out of the car, she angrily went downstairs to socialize, drinking glass after glass.

In the middle of the night, Situ Weilian climbed through the window to celebrate her birthday but was caught by Li Yingliang on his way out. Li Yingliang wanted to take both Situ Weilian and Shen Zhiheng to Binjiang but didn’t explain why. Shengzi was upset about Mu Lihua’s involvement and urged Li Yingliang to return to the Jin family.

But Li Yingliang knew he had offended too many people and believed staying away from Jin Jingxue was the only way to protect her. He didn’t bring Shengzi along on this trip to Binjiang.

Episode 12 Recap

Early in the morning, Li Yingliang took Shen Zhiheng to Binjiang. To threaten Shen Zhiheng, he also captured Situ Weilian and Mi Lan and put them on the train overnight. This was to ensure Shen Zhiheng behaved. Shen Zhiheng was very unhappy but could only grit his teeth and go along to the train station. He asked to see the hostages, and Mu Lihua agreed, telling Li Yingliang to bring them over.

Mi Lan and Situ Weilian were deeply worried when they saw Shen Zhiheng, especially noticing the mask on his face. Li Yingliang said Shen Zhiheng was a hundred-year-old monster, but Mi Lan didn’t believe that. She thought Shen Zhiheng was a very, very good person—Li Yingliang was the real monster! Their reunion was brief, and soon Li Yingliang had Mi Lan and Situ Weilian taken away.

On the way back, Situ Weilian saw Mu Lihua and casually asked for the wine she was holding. Mu Lihua seemed agreeable and didn’t refuse. Li Yingliang could tell that Situ Weilian had long known the truth about Shen Zhiheng and wasn’t afraid of him. Shen Zhiheng offered Li Yingliang money and friendship, which caused a moment of hesitation before Li Yingliang left the carriage. Mi Lan was extremely worried and resolved to save Shen Zhiheng.

Situ Weilian was equally troubled. As the train continued on, Shen Zhiheng kept a close watch on the scenery, memorizing the route. He asked Li Yingliang to remove his handcuffs so he could wash his face. Li Yingliang thought he was making a big deal out of nothing. It’s not like they were sending him to his death—and if they were, they wouldn’t go through all this trouble. Suddenly, Mu Lihua had a seizure and nearly died.

She realized she didn’t have much time left. Mi Lan blamed herself for dragging Shen Zhiheng into this—otherwise, he wouldn’t have been captured. Mu Lihua suddenly showed up and took an interest in Situ Weilian, wanting to talk to him elsewhere. But Situ Weilian refused—this woman was dangerous and needed to be kept at arm’s length. Shen Zhiheng, in decent spirits, asked Li Yingliang to gather some people for a game of cards.

If not, he’d rather die together with him. Li Yingliang didn’t care—he still had Mi Lan and Situ Weilian as hostages. In one of the train cars, Shen Zhiheng and Li Yingliang sat with different thoughts. Li Yingliang grew conflicted and agreed to the card game. Situ Weilian showed up, curious they were even letting Shen Zhiheng play. Mi Lan wasn’t there—instead, Mu Lihua came. The four of them played mahjong, and Shen Zhiheng was calm and completely in control.

Alone, Mi Lan decided she couldn’t sit still and wait—she had to do something. Shen Zhiheng said he was a lifelong bachelor. Situ Weilian admitted he already had someone in his heart. During the game, Shen Zhiheng showed interest in Mu Lihua’s ring. The last time he saw it in the dungeon, he was paralyzed just from a glance. Situ Weilian didn’t show up that day, but Jin Jingxue didn’t take it to heart.

The train ride was long, and Shen Zhiheng won hand after hand. Mu Lihua asked what his dream was. Shen Zhiheng replied that maybe it was finding his family. As it got late, the game ended. Mu Lihua left first. Shen Zhiheng gave the IOUs he won to Situ Weilian. When Mi Lan heard him return, she immediately got up to ask what happened.

Learning they had won a lot of IOUs, she checked them over and asked what else was discussed. Mi Lan said Shen Zhiheng was hinting that he would come tonight. Back in the carriage, Shen Zhiheng threatened Li Yingliang again. He said he would give him one million to release all three of them. It was enough to let Li Yingliang live out his life abroad. Although Li Yingliang refused, he was visibly shaken.

He later asked Mu Lihua about Shen Zhiheng’s upcoming examination—one that sounded like a journey straight into hell. He couldn’t help but remember how, as a child, when he was being beaten, Shen Zhiheng had appeared from the sky to save him and even gave him money, telling him that a person should live with dignity. Now, all of Shen Zhiheng’s dignity had been completely destroyed.

Episode 13 Recap

Li Yingliang once again opened Shen Zhiheng’s carriage. He was watching the sunset, not knowing whether he’d survive after getting off the train. Shen Zhiheng cherished this journey—it preserved his final bit of dignity. Suddenly, Li Yingliang seemed generous, saying if Shen Zhiheng survived, he’d buy him a ticket home to Haidong so he could return with dignity. Li Yingliang had admired Shen Zhiheng for a long time but still refused to cooperate.

He didn’t trust him and wouldn’t risk his future. Late at night, in the middle of rain and snow, Shen Zhiheng smashed the window and escaped to the train roof—only to be spotted by Mu Lihua. Shen Zhiheng took the opportunity to break the electric meter box. At the same time, Situ Weilian and Mi Lan heard the commotion and used the chaos to escape and meet up with him. After the three reunited, they jumped off the train and fled.

Li Yingliang and Mu Lihua stopped the train and sent many men to chase them. The three had no idea where to go. Fortunately, Mi Lan had good hearing and could tell how many were approaching from each direction. Shen Zhiheng quickly took action to neutralize them. Mu Lihua didn’t hesitate to fire a machine gun—even though many of the targets were their own people. Li Yingliang, on the other hand, began to feel guilty.

The wind was too strong for Mi Lan to hear clearly. At that moment, Li Yingliang and his men arrived. But at the critical moment, Li Yingliang recalled Shen Zhiheng’s words and hesitated, giving the trio a chance to escape. By the time Mu Lihua arrived, they were already gone. Li Yingliang had even been shot. Both Situ Weilian and Mi Lan were also injured. Seeing the people he cared about most like this, Shen Zhiheng was consumed by guilt.

Suddenly, Situ Weilian sensed danger nearby and, with lightning speed, eliminated the threat. His movements were just as skilled as Shen Zhiheng’s. Shen Zhiheng was stunned and questioned who he really was. Situ Weilian no longer hid the truth—he was the brother Shen Zhiheng had been searching for all along. Shen Zhiheng panicked, unable to accept his help, but in the face of this life-or-death moment, Situ Weilian dragged them away. Mu Lihua viciously started a fire to burn them alive.

The flames grew stronger. Shen Zhiheng and Situ Weilian couldn’t find a way out and had to wait until dawn. At dawn, the Asia Express would pass through—it was their only chance. As the train passed, they successfully boarded. Mi Lan was unconscious from her injury, so Situ Weilian went to find the infirmary. He managed to get some medicine and treated her wounds.

Li Yingliang soon realized where they had gone and contacted the railway bureau to block the train and search it. But the answer he got was they had no authority—and there were no fugitives matching that description. Realizing he’d been tricked, Li Yingliang was furious. Everything had been planned. And he—he had even felt a moment of pity! Shen Zhiheng carried Mi Lan off the train silently, with Situ Weilian following behind.

Chi Shanying was very dissatisfied with Li Yingliang’s failure and ordered him locked up. Shengzi had no choice but to ask Jin Jingxue for help. Though she was still upset, when Shengzi relayed Li Yingliang’s true feelings, she softened and went to plead with Chi Shanying. Li Yingliang was released, but his hatred for Shen Zhiheng only deepened. Shen Zhiheng brought Mi Lan and Situ Weilian to Mr. Mo, begging him to save Mi Lan. When Mr.

Mo heard Shen Zhiheng had found his brother, he congratulated him, but Shen Zhiheng was furious. After all, Situ Weilian had been by his side for three years without revealing the truth. Situ Weilian didn’t feel guilty—at first, he wasn’t sure whether Shen Zhiheng was good or bad and wanted to observe. But then he lost track of time. He thought Shen Zhiheng’s words were too hurtful, and the two of them ended up fighting. Compared to Shen Zhiheng, Situ Weilian was far stronger!

Episode 14 Recap

Situ Weilian and Shen Zhiheng, the pair of foolish brothers, had a fierce fight, but Shen Zhiheng was no match for him and eventually gave up. Shen Zhiheng sat to the side, panting helplessly, while Situ Weilian rambled on beside him, complaining that he was Shen Zhiheng’s younger brother and never had any intention to harm him. Unable to take it anymore, Shen Zhiheng sent Situ Weilian flying with a punch. Back at Mr. Mo’s residence, Mr.

Mo laughed at how childish they were for people with a combined age of several centuries and grumbled that he would have to pay for the things they broke. Inside the house, Situ Weilian brought up the upheaval of their childhood. After their aunt’s personality changed drastically, she killed everyone. When she tried to attack Shen Zhiheng, Situ Weilian pleaded with their mother to spare his brother, saying he was a good man.

The aunt then came to her senses, removed the item from around Situ Weilian’s neck, and used it to treat Shen Zhiheng’s injuries. She told him that if he couldn’t survive, it would be fate, but if he did, he would be left as her servant. Situ Weilian said that ever since he was born, their mother had him wear that stone, but now it had gone missing. Shen Zhiheng realized that it might have been the Blood Amber Stone.

Situ Weilian thought it was great to be immortal, but Shen Zhiheng was different—he never cared for such things. Situ Weilian said that after their aunt left the Shen family, her health declined and drinking blood didn’t help—she eventually died. She had said that Shen Zhiheng was left to be his servant, always needing his supply. Shen Zhiheng scoffed at that. They argued again and parted on bad terms. Li Yingliang went to see Second Master Jin, who treated him poorly.

After all, the Jin family had taken him in, but he had gone to serve as Chi Shanying’s lackey. But Li Yingliang was no longer someone to be beaten or scolded. When Jin Jingxue came down from upstairs, Second Master Jin didn’t dare act out anymore. Shen Zhiheng stayed by Mi Lan’s side. When she woke up, he told her she was safe and quickly went to buy her food. Li Yingliang was restless at home.

Shengzi had been tracking Shen Zhiheng but hadn’t found anything. Mr. Mo asked Shen Zhiheng if he had resolved his confusion. Shen Zhiheng answered honestly: the Blood Amber Stone had saved him, but his aunt had declined as a result. If that stone ever formed a bond with someone else, Shen Zhiheng would suffer the same fate. Shengzi, now a chairman, still wouldn’t let anyone touch Li Yingliang’s belongings. To him, Li Yingliang was the true chairman.

Situ Weilian went to see Jin Jingxue, thinking he had only kept a small secret from Shen Zhiheng and didn’t deserve such wrath. Jin Jingxue advised him to make amends quickly—perhaps the South Street community mattered greatly to him. Li Yingliang went to the Shen residence looking for clues. By accident, he found records about Little Liangzi and a trusted manager of Shen Zhiheng.

Shen Zhiheng personally made chicken soup for Mi Lan, who mistook it for medicine and complained it was bitter. While buying rice cakes for Mi Lan, Shen Zhiheng learned that the Haidong Army patrolled this area daily—it was dangerous out there. Mi Lan told Mr. Mo that no matter what kind of person Shen Zhiheng was, as long as he was her Mr. Shen, that was enough. Shen Zhiheng decided to take Mi Lan away.

The Haidong Army had started searching, and he didn’t want Mr. Mo involved anymore. Shengzi found that Zhang Youwen sent money annually for tomb maintenance to a family surnamed Shen, though the family line had supposedly died out years ago. Halfway through their journey, the car Shen Zhiheng and Mi Lan took broke down. They paid the fare and continued on foot. Shen Zhiheng wanted to return to his hometown—perhaps the answers he sought were there.

Carrying Mi Lan on his back, he arrived at his true home after over a hundred years of wandering. His close friend, De Geng, lived there. De Geng cleaned up the house for them. Back then, Shen Zhiheng had saved De Geng’s family, and his grandson was Zhang Youwen. Li Yingliang met with Mu Lihua, needing her help with Shen Zhiheng’s matter. He wanted to borrow her Shadow Ink agents to capture Shen Zhiheng and leave the rest to her. Mu Lihua agreed.

Episode 15 Recap

Seeing Mi Lan by Shen Zhiheng’s side reassured De Geng. He helped Shen Zhiheng find an old family portrait from years ago. In it, young Situ Weilian indeed had a stone around his neck. Shen Zhiheng took Mi Lan to pay respects to his ancestors—Shen Zhiheng of the Shen clan had come home. He even showed Mi Lan his own grave. After that day, only he and his grandmother survived. To hide his condition, his grandmother changed their identities.

In Shen Zhiheng’s mind, he had already died. When they opened the coffin, the Blood Amber Stone was indeed inside. Holding it, Shen Zhiheng saw his father’s shocked face upon returning to find the family massacred. His aunt had killed the entire clan, and his father, devastated, took his own life. Mi Lan sensed someone approaching, but Shen Zhiheng was still overwhelmed with sorrow. To protect him, Mi Lan was shot.

Shen Zhiheng finally snapped out of it and swiftly eliminated all the men Li Yingliang had brought. Seeing this, Li Yingliang fled in terror. Bleeding and in pain, Mi Lan wept. She once thought life was too painful, but now she felt it was wonderful to have Shen Zhiheng—and even to become like him. She lost consciousness in his arms. Shen Zhiheng cried out in grief and decided to use the Blood Amber Stone to save her.

To avoid burdening De Geng, he planned to leave with Mi Lan that night. He had to face things eventually, and returning to Haidong was the only option. After narrowly escaping death, Li Yingliang learned Shen Zhiheng had returned with Mi Lan in his arms. Terrified, he panicked—he had killed Mi Lan, and now Shen Zhiheng must be back for revenge! Mi Lan developed a high fever.

Shen Zhiheng placed her in a bathtub filled with ice to reduce the temperature. Mr. Mo had said that once the Blood Amber Stone merged with another person, the user would begin to weaken and eventually die. Situ Weilian visited Jin Jingxue again. Though Second Uncle Jin handled the surface affairs, Jin Jingxue didn’t dare entrust everything to him. After a long sleep, Mi Lan finally woke up.

With the Blood Amber Stone’s power, her vision was no longer darkness—she saw colors, the layout of the Shen residence, and most importantly, her beloved Mr. Shen. Reborn, Mi Lan’s awakening filled Shen Zhiheng with joy. For Mi Lan, it felt like their first meeting. After her bath, Shen Zhiheng dressed her in a princess-like outfit. For the first time, Mi Lan saw her own reflection—so this is what she looked like.

With her sight restored, she played freely in the courtyard. When she saw Shen Zhiheng, she bounced happily toward him, wanting to stay by his side. Mu Lihua sought help from Chi Shanying. Her Shadow Ink agents had suffered heavy losses, so she asked for soldiers to train and support her. Because of Li Yingliang’s incompetence, she had lost a lot and was determined to settle the score. Li Yingliang wanted to see Chi Shanying, but wasn’t allowed inside.

Mi Lan sat curiously in the courtyard, exploring the world—all of it was new to her. After kneeling all night in the freezing snow, Li Yingliang fainted upon hearing that Mi Lan was still alive.

Episode 16 Recap

Shen Zhiheng became a haunting nightmare in Li Yingliang’s mind. Even in sleep, he would wake up to visions of Shen Zhiheng’s cold face coming to kill him for Mi Lan’s sake. Li Yingliang cried out for help, only to realize it was just a dream. But when he saw a cigar Shen Zhiheng had left on the table, panic surged again, and he fled his home in terror. Jin Jingxue audited Second Uncle Jin’s accounts, which infuriated him.

He denied dealing opium. To celebrate Mi Lan’s new life, Shen Zhiheng had longevity noodles and eggs delivered and even peeled one beautifully for her. Mi Lan ate happily, staring at Shen Zhiheng with joy, feeling grateful to be alive and wishing every day could be this good. While Jin Jingxue and Situ Weilian were together, Li Yingliang suddenly arrived. Situ Weilian, afraid of being caught, fled immediately.

Li Yingliang knew he was in trouble and came to Jin Jingxue for help. She realized he would never have come if he weren’t desperate. Since Situ Weilian was courting Jin Jingxue, Li Yingliang hoped she could help him plead his case. But Jin Jingxue, annoyed, said Situ Weilian had already asked her out on a date for tomorrow. Li Yingliang asked to go with them, insisting they still shared another type of relationship.

It wouldn’t hurt to meet her new boyfriend. Unable to sleep recently, Li Yingliang stayed on guard even in the car, fearing ambushes. Not wanting to involve Shengzi, he had someone else tail him. In his daze, Li Yingliang wondered—perhaps becoming a monster like Shen Zhiheng, with his longevity and power, wasn’t so bad after all. Situ Weilian waited at the Shen residence for a long time before finally catching Shen Zhiheng.

But Shen Zhiheng remained cold toward him, even though Situ Weilian was willing to offer any amount of money. Situ Weilian wouldn’t give up and chased after him to explain, but Shen Zhiheng still refused to forgive him. Hearing Shen Zhiheng return, Mi Lan ran over excitedly. Situ Weilian was shocked she could now see, then quickly grew jealous—Shen Zhiheng used to treat him like a treasure, but now that Mi Lan adored him, he was no longer needed!

He even joked that in a few years, they might have a child. Angry, Shen Zhiheng drove him out. Situ Weilian stormed off. He often spoke without thinking, but he was still the brother Shen Zhiheng had searched for over a long time. Mi Lan had extraordinary musical talent, so Shen Zhiheng specially invited a master to tune the piano. Thick-skinned, Li Yingliang tagged along with Jin Jingxue to meet Situ Weilian.

Situ Weilian found it strange that Shen Zhiheng hadn’t come to take revenge. Li Yingliang was merely trying to stay alive and turned to Situ Weilian for help, not knowing they’d had a falling out. He also said nothing about Mi Lan. Li Yingliang offered fifty thousand as payment, and Situ Weilian agreed to pass along a message. Jin Jingxue and Situ Weilian left chatting and laughing.

Li Yingliang, relieved, dug into his steak—only to have Shen Zhiheng appear out of nowhere beside him. Li Yingliang forced a smile and swallowed his food under Shen Zhiheng’s stare. Satisfied, Shen Zhiheng knocked him out. Shengzi, seeing Li Yingliang hadn’t come in yet, went into the restaurant to find him—only to be told he had already left. Shen Zhiheng locked Li Yingliang in a cellar.

Desperate to survive, Li Yingliang got on his knees and begged, claiming he was useful, but Shen Zhiheng ignored him. He then went to Li Yingliang’s home and discovered his savings were minimal—even rejecting an offer of a million from him. Mi Lan, bored, stared at the gate. Hearing a sound, she dashed to find Shen Zhiheng. She loved snow because it was snowing the day they met. Shen Zhiheng led her into the snow, his eyes full of emotion.

Mi Lan asked why he treated her so well. His eyes dimmed—because she was his family. They made a promise: when it rained for the first time, Shen Zhiheng would take her wherever she wanted to go.

Episode 17 Recap

Shen Zhiheng uncovered the truth behind Chi Shanying's violent law enforcement and seizure, and had the magazine publish the news. Hearing Shen Zhiheng open the door, Li Yingliang couldn't wait to cling to the door and repeatedly admit fault, just begging to be released. However, Shen Zhiheng handed him the magazine and newspaper exposing Chi Shanying’s actions. This completely cut off Li Yingliang's escape route—he wouldn't be able to stand his ground even if he got out.

Chi Shanying would never let him go, and his bank account had already been frozen. Now he had nothing left and was destined to perish here. Enraged by the exposure of his crimes, Chi Shanying lost his temper on the spot. Shengzi went to Jin Jingxue in the middle of the night for help—Jin Jingxue was the only one who could save her now.

Hearing that Li Yingliang had been missing for three days, Jin Jingxue immediately became anxious and was eager to change clothes and go find Shen Zhiheng. She called the Shen residence, and the call was answered by Mi Lan, who said Shen Zhiheng was not home that night. Mi Lan claimed to be Shen Zhiheng’s younger sister, but Jin Jingxue didn’t believe her. After leaving the Jin family home, Shengzi was captured by the Haidong Army.

When Shen Zhiheng returned home, he learned that Jin Jingxue had called but didn’t respond. Second Uncle Jin, upon learning what Li Yingliang had done, earnestly tried to persuade Jin Jingxue, stating that the Jin family had no ties to Li Yingliang. But Jin Jingxue disagreed—if Li Yingliang did something wrong, he would bear the consequences himself, but she would never accept anyone claiming he had no connection to the Jin family.

Mu Lihua captured many people, hoping to train a new generation of Yinmo, but failed each time. Their bodies were too weak. She had no choice but to ask Chi Shanying for troops again. When she mentioned her brother, Chi Shanying reluctantly agreed for the time being. Shen Zhiheng took Mi Lan shopping at the department store. Under Situ Weilian's guidance, Jin Jingxue met the two. While Shen Zhiheng and Jin Jingxue negotiated, Mi Lan and Situ Weilian had fun.

Seeing Jin Jingxue lose control and strike Shen Zhiheng, Mi Lan immediately retaliated, but her strength had surpassed that of ordinary people. With one punch, she sent Jin Jingxue crashing into a car window. Situ Weilian couldn’t stand it and joined the chaos. It turned into a brawl between Mi Lan and Jin Jingxue, with Shen Zhiheng scolding his own brother. After the fight, Jin Jingxue and Mi Lan both left with pride, parting on bad terms.

Shen Zhiheng then turned to scold Mi Lan—her temper had gotten worse. But to Mi Lan, hitting him was like hitting herself, and she had taken too many beatings over the years. Hearing this, Shen Zhiheng softened and took her to buy a new hat. Jin Jingxue stormed home and shut Situ Weilian out. Situ Weilian then went to the Shen residence, demanding justice.

He feared that with Li Yingliang missing, Jin Jingxue would be overwhelmed with grief, leaving him no chance. Shen Zhiheng didn’t agree with Situ Weilian’s view on love but agreed to release the prisoner. When Shen Zhiheng went to see Li Yingliang, he found him singing opera, stirring memories of Xiao Liangzi. By now, Li Yingliang’s mind had become unhinged.

He hysterically accused Shen Zhiheng of letting his sister die, but Shen Zhiheng had been on the verge of madness from bloodlust at the time. If she had approached, she would’ve been the first to suffer. Shen Zhiheng told Li Yingliang that it was the cruel world that killed his sister, and he should never have helped Chi Shanying commit such evil. Li Yingliang tearfully begged Shen Zhiheng for mercy, even kneeling to admit his wrongs.

Shen Zhiheng was about to unlock the door but stopped when he caught a flash of hatred in Li Yingliang’s eyes—he hadn’t truly repented.

Episode 18 Recap

Situ Weilian went to the Jin residence early in the morning but was told by a servant that Jin Jingxue had gone out. He left some medicine behind. Jin Jingxue went to see Chi Shanying after hearing rumors that Li Yingliang had been assassinated by him. Chi Shanying denied it, saying he wanted to find Li Yingliang more than anyone. Jin Jingxue recounted Li Yingliang’s actions three days ago, and Chi Shanying concluded that Shen Zhiheng must have kidnapped him.

Chi Shanying spread the news that Shengzi had been captured to force Li Yingliang to show up. Mi Lan asked Shen Zhiheng if he would kill Li Yingliang. Although Li Yingliang had hurt her, she didn’t actually hate him. In the dark dungeon, Li Yingliang lost control under the grip of his inner demons. He accidentally discovered a wall that could be broken through, and it gave him hope.

When Shen Zhiheng returned to the dungeon, he found that Li Yingliang had dug a tunnel and escaped. Jin Jingxue returned home in despair after failing to find Li Yingliang, only to see his injured body hiding in her room. Jin Jingxue’s heart ached, and to Li Yingliang, she became his only lifeline. She carefully cleaned his wounds. Li Yingliang, paranoid, feared Shen Zhiheng would come after him.

Jin Jingxue changed his clothes and told him to rest here—she would stay by his side for the next few days. Li Yingliang was constantly on edge, even waking up suddenly in his sleep. Situ Weilian visited Jin Jingxue but was told she had gone back to her hometown, with no return date. Shen Zhiheng brought the blood amber stone close to the crow given to him by Mr. Mo.

Since it had been sent to him, it must not be simple. Situ Weilian came crying to the Shen residence, claiming to be heartbroken. Shen Zhiheng was speechless and showed him the blood amber stone, telling its story. But Situ Weilian was too preoccupied with thoughts of Jin Jingxue to care. Jin Jingxue dismissed all the servants, keeping only Xiao Tao, her childhood companion. She watched over Li Yingliang every day and was growing restless.

Li Yingliang wanted to confront Chi Shanying, believing he must strike first to rise again. Jin Jingxue was furious—his thinking was absurd. Situ Weilian called the Jin residence again, but Xiao Tao claimed to know nothing. Li Yingliang asked Jin Jingxue to bring Situ Weilian to help with something. Though angry, she complied. Shen Zhiheng immediately realized that Li Yingliang must be hiding at the Jin residence.

Situ Weilian was thrilled to hear Jin Jingxue’s voice but ended up facing Shen Zhiheng. Situ Weilian suggested they have a private talk. Shen Zhiheng and Mi Lan enjoyed a peaceful moment. He was teaching Mi Lan never to kill, as humans are different from beasts. Mi Lan didn’t fully understand but agreed anyway. Li Yingliang told Situ Weilian that if he helped him, he would match him with Jin Jingxue.

He claimed to understand her better than she did herself. Situ Weilian was furious—Jin Jingxue must be blind! But she understood what kind of person Li Yingliang was. Because she loved him, she forgave all his wrongdoings. Li Yingliang asked Situ Weilian to deliver a message to Chi Shanying, then lure Shen Zhiheng into a trap—not to harm him, but to clear his name in front of Chi Shanying. Situ Weilian initially refused but was eventually swayed by Li Yingliang’s manipulation.

Episode 19 Recap

All the soldiers Mu Lihua borrowed had died. Though Chi Shanying was furious, there was little he could do—Mu Lihua had the Mu family behind her. Zhang Youwen had just called to say De Geng was gone. Shen Zhiheng’s gaze toward the snowy night grew lonelier. After arranging everything, Zhang Youwen delivered a letter from De Geng and pledged to follow in his grandfather’s footsteps, always protecting the Shen family. Shen Zhiheng was deeply moved.

He set up memorial tablets for his deceased loved ones. Mu Lihua found a family portrait in the Shen household and noticed an Aunt Wei in it. She suspected Aunt Wei had given Shen Zhiheng the blood amber stone and decided to create an incident to force him to reveal himself. On a quiet snowy night, many people were slaughtered. Shen Zhiheng decided to leave Haidong with Mi Lan and Situ Weilian, to live peacefully elsewhere.

But first, one matter needed to be resolved—Mu Lihua had lost all humanity. They had to eliminate this threat to Haidong. Situ Weilian told Shen Zhiheng about Li Yingliang’s plan and claimed it was for Shen Zhiheng’s sake—Li Yingliang could help them escape. Shen Zhiheng disagreed, saying Jin Jingxue loved Li Yingliang and emotions don’t change easily. He agreed in the end, but insisted on seeing Mu Lihua.

Situ Weilian chatted with Mi Lan, saying they should secretly eliminate both Mu Lihua and Chi Shanying. Shen Zhiheng caught them, and Mi Lan was punished with repetitive copying. Late at night, Mi Lan quietly left the house with the crow. The crow landed on the hood of Chi Shanying’s car. Annoyed, he got out to shoo it away but was swarmed by more crows. Suddenly, a bright red umbrella descended from the sky.

Alarmed, Chi Shanying fired several shots upward. Mi Lan was accidentally hit by a bullet and pulled a feather from the crow. When she returned home, Shen Zhiheng noticed her wound. The next day, Situ Weilian found Chi Shanying to deliver a message from Li Yingliang, asking him to visit. Surprisingly, Chi Shanying agreed. He suspected the three were conspiring against him and didn’t take it seriously. Mi Lan confessed to Shen Zhiheng that she went to scare Chi Shanying.

Since she couldn’t kill, scaring should be fine. Shen Zhiheng didn’t blame her and promised they would act together from now on. They began to look forward to the day they could listen to the rain together. Chi Shanying visited the Jin residence late at night. Though he no longer trusted Li Yingliang, he still listened to his plan. After Chi Shanying left, Li Yingliang felt hopeful about rising again.

He promised to repay Jin Jingxue with a fine dowry once he succeeded. Jin Jingxue was furious—she didn’t love Situ Weilian at all! In a frenzy, she pounced on Li Yingliang. Though he repeatedly rejected her, she bit him hard, and he finally gave in to his emotions. After the passion faded, Li Yingliang decided to leave the Jin residence the next day—he didn’t want to drag Jin Jingxue down with him.

The next morning, Jin Jingxue prepared dumplings for Li Yingliang, while she herself elegantly ate Western food across from him.

Episode 20 Recap

Li Yingliang found evidence that Mu Lihua had harmed the soldiers. He rushed to report it to Chi Shanying. Now the outside world is in an uproar, with everyone saying that Mu Lihua is a man-eating monster. But Chi Shanying paid it no mind. Li Yingliang's true grudge was still against Shen Zhiheng.

His plan was to arrest Shen Zhiheng, make him sign a confession, gain Chi Shanying’s trust to make a comeback, then kill Situ Weilian and marry Jin Jingxue. Chi Shanying had his own plan too. Once Li Yingliang arrested Shen Zhiheng and Situ Weilian, Chi Shanying planned to blow up the mine where they were imprisoned, using Shen Zhiheng as bait to lure Mu Lihua and take the opportunity to kill her.

Then he would announce that Shen Zhiheng colluded with Mu Lihua to bring chaos to Haidong, thus making himself a national hero and completing his grand plan. Situ Weilian told Shen Zhiheng that he and Li Yingliang had already agreed on the action plan to start tomorrow. Shen Zhiheng's goal was also to kill Mu Lihua to eliminate future threats, so he and Mi Lan could leave safely.

Mi Lan didn’t believe in Li Yingliang’s plan and didn’t want Shen Zhiheng to do such a thing. But Shen Zhiheng said he had to take responsibility for his younger brother, Situ Weilian. Anyway, when the ship departs, he would definitely return. All Mi Lan needed to do was wait for him to come back. Mu Lihua insisted on changing fate. If she couldn’t, then she would make Shen Zhiheng die with her.

At the Mi residence, Mi Lan gloomily watched Shen Zhiheng leave, filled with resentment. Shen Zhiheng went alone to meet Situ Weilian. Though he thought the plan was foolish, he still went—because Situ Weilian was his brother after all. Li Yingliang quickly arrived with his men; Situ Weilian had already rehearsed the act with him.

When Li Yingliang saw Shen Zhiheng, he approached with mixed emotions, but Shen Zhiheng suddenly vomited, which enraged Li Yingliang, who believed he was being mocked. Mi Lan sneaked out of the Shen residence. Shen Zhiheng and Situ Weilian were taken to the mine and imprisoned by Li Yingliang. Li Yingliang said he didn’t want to be enemies with Shen Zhiheng and hoped he could understand; he would do everything to help protect Shen Zhiheng.

Shen Zhiheng ignored him and said only to wait and see his actions. Li Yingliang, like a trapped beast, had ensnared himself. Mi Lan rented a car to search for Shen Zhiheng, but after circling around several times, she still found no trace. Li Yingliang humbly begged Shen Zhiheng to sign the confession and open letter. Shen Zhiheng eventually signed. Li Yingliang brought the confession to Chi Shanying, but Chi said it wouldn’t prove his innocence.

Anxiously, Li Yingliang begged him to release Shengzi. While Li Yingliang and Shengzi were eating noodles by the roadside, Mi Lan passed by and overheard them discussing Shen Zhiheng. Li Yingliang hoped Shengzi could help eliminate Situ Weilian and prevent him from escaping alive. Mi Lan returned to the Shen residence and discovered that Zhang Youwen had posted a missing person notice, offering 100,000 yuan to find her. This made Mi Lan even more frustrated.

She packed up and set off alone to rescue Shen Zhiheng. The next day, Zhang Yousheng found her missing and panicked. Chi Shanying asked Mu Lihua why his soldiers had been killed. Mu Lihua was indifferent and even demanded two more companies of soldiers. Chi Shanying decided to act against her as planned but found his gun had no bullets and his subordinates had betrayed him. Chi Shanying was killed by his own men. Mi Lan suddenly appeared before Li Yingliang and demanded to know Shen Zhiheng’s whereabouts.

Episode 21 Recap

Chi Shanying and Mu Lihua were both absent. In the prison, Shen Zhiheng and Situ Weilian were filled with worry. Then, a commotion was heard. Mi Lan arrived, holding Li Yingliang hostage, risking everything to rescue Shen Zhiheng. After dealing with Chi Shanying, Mu Lihua led his soldiers to the mine to capture Shen Zhiheng alive—she wanted him alive. Shengzi discovered this and immediately reported to Li Yingliang. Shen Zhiheng quickly opened the cell door, and they began their escape.

Thanks to her sharp hearing, Mi Lan detected the ambush ahead, but in protecting the reckless Situ Weilian, Shen Zhiheng was burned by flames. To protect Li Yingliang, Shengzi stayed behind. Shen Zhiheng, supporting the injured Situ Weilian and accompanied by Mi Lan, fled together. Mu Lihua used special bullets, clearly prepared. Shen Zhiheng suspected this was a trap set by Li Yingliang and grabbed both him and Shengzi. They claimed it had nothing to do with them.

Since Li Yingliang was familiar with the area, keeping him around was useful. Shen Zhiheng told him to stay while Shengzi scouted ahead. Situ Weilian was in severe pain. While Li Yingliang was looking for medical supplies, Mu Lihua's group caught up. Alarmed, they decided to flee. Situ Weilian couldn’t walk and asked Shengzi to carry him. Mu Lihua, seeing the door wouldn’t blow open, used explosives. The explosion severed the path between Shengzi, Situ Weilian, and the others.

Shengzi tried to use the chance to kill Situ Weilian, but didn’t expect him to also possess supernatural powers like Shen Zhiheng. Shengzi was killed in the struggle. When Li Yingliang arrived, he only found his corpse. Situ Weilian looked innocent and told Shen Zhiheng that he didn’t intend to kill him; it was Shengzi who attacked first. Devastated, Li Yingliang questioned whether anyone was still sane—was Mi Lan still sane? Mi Lan calmly replied, no, she wasn’t.

Hearing their pursuers approach, Shen Zhiheng grabbed Li Yingliang without hesitation and ran. Mi Lan, following the wind sounds, guided them, but they ran directly into enemy troops. Shen Zhiheng was shot again protecting Mi Lan, and Situ Weilian went berserk and wiped out the enemies. Shen Zhiheng told Situ Weilian to take Mi Lan and find an exit, or they would all die there. Shen Zhiheng stayed behind. Li Yingliang stayed as well.

He knew he had no place with either Mu Lihua or Mi Lan, so he might as well stay with Shen Zhiheng, a man of loyalty. Li Yingliang recalled the Mi family banquet when he greeted Shen Zhiheng but was ignored. If Shen Zhiheng had acknowledged him then, maybe he wouldn’t have hated him so much. But both of them harbored resentment. In the end, Li Yingliang had to admit Shen Zhiheng was a good man.

Dying with him might not be a bad thing. Before they could reflect further, more enemies arrived. The two raised their guns to fight. Li Yingliang was shot. Shen Zhiheng was captured by Mu Lihua. In his final moments, Li Yingliang thought of Shengzi and Jin Jingxue, who was still waiting for him at home, and thus ended his life of sin. Mi Lan and Situ Weilian found the exit. Mi Lan insisted on going back to save Shen Zhiheng.

But Shen Zhiheng’s words were to get Mi Lan out safely. Mi Lan refused. She cared deeply about Shen Zhiheng’s life—he was the only one she cared about! Mi Lan rushed back to save him, unaware that Vice Officer Wu had already pressed the detonator, intending to kill everyone and cover everything up. Fortunately, in the final second before the explosion, Mi Lan and Situ Weilian escaped with Shen Zhiheng.

After Chi Shanying’s death, Vice Officer Wu took over and asked Zhang Youwen to publish their news. Uncle Jin, upon hearing the news, brought it to the Jin residence and showed Jin Jingxue the report of Chi Shanying’s death. Fearing something had happened to Li Yingliang, Jin Jingxue hurriedly went out to find him. In the emergency, she didn’t read the contract and signed the agreement Uncle Jin had prepared long ago. Jin Jingxue went to Li Yingliang’s home.

The door wasn’t locked, but he wasn’t there—only a childhood photo of the two of them remained. Shen Zhiheng’s wounds healed slowly. Mi Lan was extremely worried and called Situ Weilian for a meeting. Crow returned to Mr. Mo at his call. Mr. Mo found the Golden Crow Fusang and was overwhelmed with excitement.

Episode 22 Recap

After five days of sleep, Shen Zhiheng finally woke up. Mi Lan had saved all the newspapers for him. She was worried about Shen Zhiheng’s health, staring at him motionlessly. Shen Zhiheng was full of thoughts and didn’t dare meet her burning gaze. He decided to stay for now and asked Zhang Youwen to keep an eye on the situation. Mi Lan muttered as if confirming something with him: “We still have a lot of time together, right?

” Shen Zhiheng agreed. He also hoped they would have much, much more time. Jin Jingxue ran around trying to find out Li Yingliang’s whereabouts. Uncle Jin brought people to her door. That day, he had tricked Jin Jingxue into signing a property transfer contract. Although Jin Jingxue knew he had schemed against her, she accepted it. This was the consequence of her own actions, and she didn’t blame anyone else.

Since Uncle Jin was so determined to take over the Jin family, she wouldn’t stay. She only hoped he wouldn’t forget his promise to her father. Jin Jingxue clenched her fists and went upstairs to pack. Though calm on the surface, she was filled with anger and unwillingness. She sat alone on the roadside with her luggage. Situ Weilian appeared again to protect her. Situ Weilian brought Jin Jingxue back to his home.

She had previously gone to the hospital to ask about Li Yingliang’s whereabouts. Jin Jingxue couldn’t understand why Chi Shanying had suddenly died. Situ Weilian remained silent and didn’t reveal the truth. Shen Zhiheng was teaching Mi Lan to read. Mi Lan was frustrated—she didn’t want to write any “six principles,” she only wanted to write Shen Zhiheng’s name. Situ Weilian came again asking for Shen Zhiheng’s help. Shen Zhiheng was helpless, feeling like he owed both of them.

Jin Jingxue was staying at his home, and Situ Weilian felt nervous, thinking his home didn’t match her status. So Shen Zhiheng took him to get a check. In the courtyard, Shen Zhiheng told Situ Weilian that the power of the Blood Amber Stone had shifted, and his body would grow weaker, just like their aunt. He hoped Situ Weilian would take good care of Mi Lan in the future.

Startled from sleep, Jin Jingxue accidentally discovered Situ Weilian’s secret room, the place where he operated on Shen Zhiheng. When Situ Weilian came back with bags and found the secret room open, he felt helpless. Jin Jingxue had misunderstood something and bolted. However, Situ Weilian could always suddenly appear by her side, scaring her even more. She ran barefoot, but he still brought her back. Though he kept saying he wouldn’t hurt her, Jin Jingxue was still afraid.

She became more convinced that he knew what happened to Li Yingliang, so she pretended to be obedient and ate the breakfast he brought back. Shen Zhiheng received an invitation sent by Vice Officer Wu—it was a gesture of goodwill. Jin Jingxue specially wore the clothes Situ Weilian had bought her and prepared wine to seduce him. Situ Weilian didn’t approach, afraid of hurting her.

Mi Lan wanted to hear Shen Zhiheng’s story, so he slowly began, but Mi Lan was curious about only one thing—had he ever loved someone? Jin Jingxue tied Situ Weilian to the operating table, trying to force him to reveal Li Yingliang’s whereabouts, but she was terrified by his extraordinary healing speed. Situ Weilian no longer concealed the truth and revealed that Li Yingliang was dead. This time, he wasn’t lying. In the mine, Mu Lihua hadn’t been killed by the explosion. Her beautiful face was badly burned, and her eyes were full of hatred.

Episode 23 Recap

Jin Jingxue pleaded repeatedly to see Deputy Officer Wu and finally got to meet him. The purpose of her visit was to find Li Yingliang's body and give him a proper burial—after all, fallen leaves return to their roots. However, Deputy Officer Wu said there had been explosions and fire that day, and after careful investigation, no body of Li Yingliang was found.

Jin Jingxue collapsed; she couldn’t accept Li Yingliang’s death and even held onto hope—if there was no body, perhaps it meant he was still alive! And in fact, Li Yingliang was not dead; he had been rescued by Mu Lihua. Situ Weilian, tormented by love, thought of his mother—she too had once been imprisoned by human emotions. Watching Jin Jingxue, Situ Weilian began to ponder: what exactly is love?

Now that Jin Jingxue was living in his home, he found no joy in it—her heart held no trace of him. Only then did Situ Weilian realize that he did care about Jin Jingxue and Li Yingliang—a lot. Determined to make Jin Jingxue happy, he disguised himself as her Second Uncle Jin's driver. Shen Zhiheng knew his life was fading away.

Though he couldn’t stay by Mi Lan’s side, he still wished for her to see the beauty of the world. Mu Lihua hid in the crowd, casting a malicious smile as she stared at Mi Lan’s radiant expression. Mi Lan had once been blind, but now she could see—and possessed abilities beyond normal people. Clearly, this was linked to the Blood Amber Stone. Situ Weilian brought Jin Jingxue to the Jin family estate; he owed her a birthday gift.

Second Uncle Jin warmly welcomed Jin Jingxue back to take charge of the family and had even signed the agreement himself. Jin Jingxue was a bit confused by this, but it was obvious that Second Uncle Jin had been deeply frightened by Situ Weilian. Shen Zhiheng took Situ Weilian to honor his ancestors, and Mi Lan also joined in the ancestral rites of the Shen family. The three of them began preparations for the upcoming New Year.

Situ Weilian decided to invite Jin Jingxue to celebrate together. Though Mi Lan was slightly reluctant, she still listened to Shen Zhiheng. No one was particularly skilled at making dumplings, but Jin Jingxue was quite good at it and generously taught Mi Lan. Seeing this, Shen Zhiheng took Situ Weilian away, giving the two women time to bond. Everyone sat at the table eating dumplings, with the steam rising and a festive warmth filling the room.

Shen Zhiheng had been revising his will, planning to transfer his shares of the newspaper to Zhang Youwen, on the sole condition that his family care for Mi Lan for generations. While Shen Zhiheng was staying up for the New Year's vigil, Mi Lan brought over a chair and nestled in his arms to join him. Her eyes were free of sorrow, and she looked joyfully at the fireworks in the sky.

Mi Lan quietly returned to the Mi residence and found the ragdoll that had always accompanied her. But she unintentionally overheard voices. Going downstairs, she discovered that Madam Mi had returned at some unknown time. Madam Mi had eloped with someone only to be deceived and returned home even more vicious toward her daughter. But she was so frightened by Mi Lan’s powers that she collapsed on the floor.

Shen Zhiheng arrived in time to stop Mi Lan and spoke with Madam Mi privately. He promised her a life of comfort, but on the condition that she genuinely behave as a mother. Madam Mi readily agreed. However, Mi Lan showed no response to her hypocrisy. She knew how much effort Shen Zhiheng had put in for her and didn’t want to worry him anymore.

She had once been defiant toward Shen Zhiheng's teachings, but now she realized her understanding of the world had been incomplete. She hadn’t known what love was, what forgiveness meant—Shen Zhiheng had taught her all of it. Mi Lan threw herself into Shen Zhiheng's arms and said, from now on, whether day or night, they should never be apart again. Shen Zhiheng’s century-long loneliness was finally melted away, and he quickly wrapped his arms around her.

Episode 24 (Ending) Recap

Shen Zhiheng and Mi Lan sat together making dumplings. It was the second day of the New Year, and Mi Lan wanted to cook more dumplings. Shen Zhiheng immediately understood—Madam Mi was alone at the Mi residence and should be visited. Mi Lan brought the dumplings back to the residence.

Madam Mi was a bit scared upon seeing her but couldn’t help shedding tears while eating the dumplings—she hadn’t expected to eat dumplings made by her daughter again in this lifetime. She wondered how she had ended up like this. Mi Lan asked Madam Mi if she remembered her birthday. Of course, Madam Mi remembered—November 25th. On that day, she had brushed death's door, but Mi Boss had entered the house with Concubine No. 5 without even glancing at them.

November 25th was also the day Mi Lan was reborn. That was when she met Shen Zhiheng, who showed her that someone in this world could treat her well. Things she should have learned from her parents were instead taught by Shen Zhiheng. Mi Lan didn’t know whether Madam Mi deserved forgiveness, or how to let go. Beside Madam Mi was Mi Lan’s doll, now torn, which she was trying to mend.

It was the only thing her mother had ever given her. When Madam Mi had been ill, she had no choice but to leave Mi Lan in the attic. Mi Lan had been disobedient, so she sewed her a doll. With that doll, Mi Lan calmed down. To Mi Lan, the doll carried her mother’s scent. Madam Mi wept with remorse.

Later, after discovering Mi Lan was blind, and as her husband brought home wife after wife, she began beating Mi Lan more and more frequently. Mi Lan remained calm. Each time she was beaten, she would hug the doll, as if it could ease the hatred in her heart. Madam Mi dropped to her knees and slapped herself several times. She finally recognized her mistakes. Mi Lan gently held her and said, "I forgive you.

"As Mi Lan’s tears fell onto her shoulder, she suddenly noticed Mu Lihua approaching. She quickly told her mother to go upstairs and not come down no matter what. Mi Lan rushed to confront Mu Lihua but was knocked out by an illusion Mu Lihua created. Soon, Shen Zhiheng received a call from Madam Mi—Mi Lan had been taken by a woman. Mu Lihua imprisoned Mi Lan, trying to extract the location of the Blood Amber Stone.

When Mi Lan refused, Mu Lihua locked her up with Li Yingliang, who had already been mentally controlled by the Illusion Stone. Shen Zhiheng found the Mu family’s secrets at Mu Lihua’s residence, but he wasn’t sure if she had deliberately left them. After reading the book, Situ Weilian realized his mother might have had many more secrets he didn’t know about. While fighting the crazed Li Yingliang, Mi Lan accidentally revealed the Blood Amber Stone.

Mu Lihua snatched it immediately, and the immense power restored her youthful appearance. The whole city was attacked by Mu Lihua’s followers. Situ Weilian hid Jin Jingxue in his home and promised that if he saw Li Yingliang, he would bring him back. Mr. Mo found Shen Zhiheng and Situ Weilian—Mu Lihua now had both mystical stones, and they had to stop the massacre. The three confronted Mu Lihua. Shen Zhiheng struggled to fight her after she absorbed both stones.

At a critical moment, Li Yingliang, who was being controlled, suddenly remembered his benefactor "Grandpa Shen" and sacrificed himself to block a fatal blow. Mr. Mo helped Shen Zhiheng retrieve the Xuanyang Stone. The Mu family had never been able to truly control it—only those with pure hearts could harness its power. Before dying, Mu Lihua still held evil intentions, declaring that she had already sent Mi Lan onto a ship—Shen Zhiheng had not won!

After defeating Mu Lihua, Shen Zhiheng hurried onto the ship and safely rescued Mi Lan. Upon hearing that Haidong was safe, Mi Lan finally relaxed. As Shen Zhiheng went to steer the ship, assassins triggered explosives, blowing up the entire vessel. In the silence of the sea, Shen Zhiheng and Mi Lan held each other tightly. Situ Weilian returned to Jin Jingxue covered in injuries. Though he hadn’t fulfilled his promise, to Jin Jingxue, his safety mattered more.

Mi Lan and Shen Zhiheng floated on the sea’s surface. Mi Lan imagined their future—finding a small island, opening a newspaper office, and playing the piano. But Shen Zhiheng made her promise to live well with Situ Weilian. The Blood Amber Stone had been destroyed, and he had pushed himself to the limit just to reach this point. As the sun began to rise, he was about to leave her.

Mi Lan turned her head and paddled furiously on the small plank—they would survive and return! Shen Zhiheng stopped her and held her tightly in his arms. The sun rose from the horizon. Living alone takes immense courage, but Shen Zhiheng believed Mi Lan could do it. He left a kiss on her cheek, containing all his boundless love. As the sun rose, Mi Lan lost her beloved. The first spring rain washed everything clean.

Mi Lan remained the little girl who foolishly waited for Mr. Shen to take her to see the world’s beauty, stubbornly guarding their promise.
