Xu Duocheng found herself in need, and Jiang Nan, though initially embarrassed, stepped up to help by going to the store to purchase sanitary pads for her. The female store clerk immediately recognized his intent and offered numerous recommendations, which Jiang Nan swiftly accepted and paid for. Xu Duocheng was deeply touched. Moments later, Bao Rui called, urging Jiang Nan to attend an event. However, Jiang Nan declined, explaining he had to stay home to care for Xu Duocheng.
Feeling she might have inconvenienced him, Xu Duocheng apologized, but Jiang Nan reassured her and told her to rest. Meanwhile, Zhan Zhilin's father had arranged a meeting with a wealthy heiress named Tingting, hoping to unite their prominent families. Zhan Zhilin, however, arrived with a car show girl, introducing her as his girlfriend, much to the dismay of the heiress and her father, who promptly left.
Zhan Zhilin's father was furious, but Zhan Zhilin calmly dismissed his anger, stating that since his mother, Liang Shuqian, had taken her own life years ago due to his father's infidelities, his father had continued to have other women, leaving his father speechless. Later that evening, Gu Jiayi called Jiang Nan, demanding he open the door and threatening to wait indefinitely if he didn't.
Reluctantly, Jiang Nan asked Xu Duocheng to go upstairs to rest before opening the door to confront Gu Jiayi. Jiang Nan firmly told Gu Jiayi to stop bothering him, emphasizing that their relationship had irrevocably ended the moment she left. He declared that Xu Duocheng was now his girlfriend, describing her as simple, innocent, uninterested in fame or money, sincere, and never manipulative—a description Xu Duocheng, listening from upstairs, overheard.
Gu Jiayi, however, remained unfazed, asserting that she would not give up on Jiang Nan. After she left, Bao Rui checked in on Jiang Nan, asking if Gu Jiayi was the reason he'd missed the event. Jiang Nan explained he was with Xu Duocheng, who had a bad stomach ache due to her period. He hoped Xu Duocheng hadn't overheard his conversation with Gu Jiayi.
Back at the studio, Bao Rui excitedly informed Jiang Nan that he had secured an outdoor director for their new MV, which would be filmed in Jing City. He declared Xu Duocheng to be Jiang Nan's "inspiration" and "lucky star," suggesting she accompany him to help with the MV. Xu Duocheng, having indeed overheard Jiang Nan's earlier confession to Gu Jiayi, came downstairs and enthusiastically volunteered to be his personal assistant, accepting Bao Rui's offer of overtime pay.
Unbeknownst to Jiang Nan, Gu Jiayi had driven to the nursing home where Jiang Nan’s mother, Caiyun, resided. She claimed to be Jiang Nan's girlfriend, which agitated Caiyun. Caiyun, suffering from a cognitive impairment, mistook Gu Jiayi for a woman trying to seduce her husband and began hitting her. Jiang Nan and Xu Duocheng arrived just as the situation escalated. Jiang Nan quickly intervened, ushering Gu Jiayi away and warning her never to disturb his mother again.
Afterward, Xu Duocheng gently comforted Caiyun, while Jiang Nan expressed his gratitude to Xu Duocheng for her support. Xu Duocheng then went for a medical check-up, reporting to Dr. Sui that she was experiencing hand weakness, difficulty holding chopsticks, and had almost fallen while walking. Zhan Zhilin arrived at the clinic, explaining that his family company, Kang Lin, specializes in medical equipment and he wanted to offer assistance.
Dr. Sui confirmed Zhan Zhilin's long-standing friendship and praised Kang Lin’s electromagnetic pulse infrared physiotherapy instruments, noting their potential benefit for Xu Duocheng. Dr. Sui revealed that Xu Duocheng's electromyography showed clear signs of neuronal damage. Despite the serious diagnosis, Xu Duocheng insisted on keeping her condition a secret from her family, fearing their worry, even though Dr. Sui advised discussing it with them and warned of increased financial and safety risks due to potential muscle twitches and weakness.
Before leaving, Dr. Sui discreetly cautioned Zhan Zhilin not to get too involved with Xu Duocheng if his intentions weren't genuine, as she couldn't handle further emotional harm. Zhan Zhilin assured her he genuinely felt pity for Xu Duocheng's situation. Zhan Zhilin then offered to give Xu Duocheng a portable physiotherapy instrument and took her to his grand house to pick it up.
There, Xu Duocheng was surprised to discover that Zhan Zhilin’s mother was Liang Shuqian, a celebrated rock singer. Zhan Zhilin explained that his father had forced his mother to stop singing after they married, and his mother had secretly helped him pursue an art education, leading him to meet Jiang Nan. Just then, Zhan Zhilin’s father returned, demanding he apologize to Uncle Liu and pursue a marriage with Tingting.
Zhan Zhilin refused, leading to a heated argument where he defiantly stated he would choose his own path. Later, Zhan Zhilin confided in Xu Duocheng about the disbandment of his group, 2BeOne. He recounted how their manager, Sister Yun, suggested they go solo, and Jiang Nan agreed, feeling "too many limitations" with Zhan Zhilin and believing separate development was better. This deeply wounded Zhan Zhilin, who reminded Jiang Nan of their initial commitment and the meaning of their band name.
Jiang Nan, however, maintained he no longer wished to continue. Zhan Zhilin then revealed that the day after the group disbanded, his mother visited Jiang Nan and subsequently committed suicide. He also saw his father secretly meeting with Jiang Nan, leading him to believe Jiang Nan was involved in his mother's death by concealing crucial information that could have saved her.
Xu Duocheng, however, defended Jiang Nan, feeling there must be a misunderstanding and believing he wasn't the kind of person to act mercenary. Xu Duocheng called her friend, Ke Qin, to excitedly share the news about going with Jiang Nan to shoot the MV, making Ke Qin envious and encouraging her to seize the opportunity for a "qualitative change" in their relationship. The next morning, as Xu Duocheng was packing, she accidentally bumped into Jiang Nan.
He confirmed their early departure for Jing City and informed her that he had already visited his mother at the nursing home and made arrangements for her care during their absence. He also granted Xu Duocheng a day of "welfare leave" in Jing City, allowing her to explore on her own. Overjoyed, Xu Duocheng affectionately called him "Prince Charming Nan" and expressed her love, quickly retracting it when Jiang Nan questioned her words.
The following day, after arriving in Jing City, Jiang Nan reiterated that Xu Duocheng was not needed for work, instructing her to keep her phone close and offering to have Du pick her up if she got tired. Xu Duocheng politely declined, wishing to spare Du. Jiang Nan playfully threatened to cancel her leave if she continued to argue, and she cheerfully agreed to go.
Meanwhile, Zhan Zhilin received news that Jiang Nan was filming an MV in Jing City, confirming his suspicions about Xu Duocheng's travel plans. He instructed his subordinate to discreetly inform his father about this development. Xu Duocheng embarked on her free day in Jing City, happily taking photos, but her joyful excursion turned sour when she accidentally dropped her phone into a lake, rendering it useless.
As the sky opened up, pouring rain, Jiang Nan, despite being on set, grew increasingly concerned when his messages went unanswered and calls went straight to voicemail. Worried for her safety, he abruptly left filming and drove frantically to find her. He eventually found a drenched Xu Duocheng huddled under a pavilion. He scolded her for her carelessness, but then, seeing her distraught state, he gently picked her up and carried her away.
