Jiang Nan has a musical dream, but due to his insistence on music that does not satisfy the market, his career has not been successful and he has become an " outdated singer " in the eyes of the public.
However, due to an absurd "chance encounter in the toilet", Jiang Nan meets his loyal fan, Xu Duocheng, and has to become a "contract couple" with her due to many misunderstanding scenes.
They gradually become a real couple and start a sweet love journey.
With the encouragement of Xu Duocheng, Jiang Nan gradually gets out of his career bottleneck and his dream of music is reawakened, and his music career is gradually accepted by everyone, even reaching its peak.

Episode 1 Recap
Xu Duocheng, a recent piano graduate from the Xinhai Conservatory of Music, found herself at a Death Experience Hall, participating in their inaugural trial, which also broke their opening record. The experience, meant for two hours, extended by an additional five minutes, much to the exasperation of the owner, Brother Liu, who had to pay her an extra 2,000 yuan for the overtime.
Xu Duocheng, however, was unfazed, telling Brother Liu that she was fully conscious and had profoundly grasped the sensation of death. She then excused herself, claiming an urgent matter. She revealed that this "death experience" was a preview for her, a preparation for what was to come. Three months earlier, Xu Duocheng had been diagnosed with ALS, an extremely rare, incurable disease. The news left her shocked, fearful, unwilling, and utterly helpless, plunging her into a life countdown.
She concealed the grim diagnosis, struggling to find meaning in continuing her life. Fortunately, a beacon of hope appeared in the form of singer Jiang Nan's words: "Death stands like a lighthouse, waiting for everyone to arrive. We were born to die. So we should grasp the present and seize the day." Inspired by his message, Xu Duocheng resolved to bravely express herself and pursue her dreams, beginning with an audition for the Star Band.
During her audition, Xu Duocheng performed a highly challenging piano piece. Although the judges praised her rhythm and the overall completion of the track, she made a critical error in the most important section. Consequently, they informed her that they required a more mature and stable professional player, and she was not selected. Despite the setback, Xu Duocheng felt no regrets, content that she had persevered to the very end.
Later, at a jewelry store, Xu Duocheng bought a Wish bone bracelet as an entry gift for her best friend, Keqin, hoping it would bring her good luck. While in the ladies' room, a male voice from the adjacent stall startled her by asking for toilet paper. Initially, she panicked, believing him to be a pervert.
The man quickly realized his mistake, apologized profusely for being in the wrong restroom, and offered her a concert ticket for pop singer Jiang Nan in exchange for the paper. Xu Duocheng, a devoted fan, was skeptical, as she hadn't heard of any upcoming performances. However, upon closer inspection, she confirmed the ticket's authenticity and handed him some tissue. He asked her to check if anyone was outside before he emerged.
After she gave the all-clear, he exited, where his friend, Du, jokingly chided him for his frequent stomach issues and lack of foresight in carrying paper. Xu Duocheng remained unaware that the man was her idol, Jiang Nan. Meeting Keqin at a coffee shop, Xu Duocheng’s friend tried to comfort her about the audition, assuring her it was the Star Band's loss, not hers.
Xu Duocheng dismissed her sadness, declaring it to be in the past, and then presented Keqin with the Wish bone bracelet. She excitedly recounted how she had received a genuine Jiang Nan concert ticket simply by exchanging toilet paper, believing it to be a sign of her destined connection with her "prince charming Nan." Keqin, who had just secured a full-time position at a company called "The Truth," shared her struggles with her demanding boss.
Meanwhile, Jiang Nan received unwelcome news from his manager: his solo concert had been downgraded to an opening act for an undisclosed artist due to sponsor demands. His manager explained that refusing would incur a 1 million yuan penalty, and implored him to prioritize the team's livelihood. Reluctantly, Jiang Nan agreed to perform.
At the concert, a dedicated Xu Duocheng was overjoyed to see her idol, even as many in the sparse audience and a critical reporter (Chief Qin) dismissed Jiang Nan as an "outdated" artist. Jiang Nan performed his single "Island," with only Xu Duocheng singing along passionately in the crowd. Determined to get an autograph, Xu Duocheng headed backstage. He immediately pushed her away, but the cameras were already flashing. Gu Jiayi addressed the media, clarifying that their interaction was strictly professional—a future musical collaboration—and urged everyone to support Jiang Nan. Just as Jiang Nan was about to leave the stage, a video of him walking into the ladies' room, followed by Xu Duocheng, was unexpectedly displayed on the big screen, leaving Keqin utterly astonished.

Concurrently, Jiang Nan's assistant discovered Xu Duocheng's scrapbook in Jiang Nan's car during a car wash. Flipping through it, Jiang Nan found records detailing childhood experiences they had shared, hinting at a connection deeper than either realized. Xu Duocheng met Keqin, who was eager for details about the brewing scandal. Xu Duocheng explained the toilet encounter, confirming that the mysterious man was indeed Jiang Nan. Keqin, surprised, playfully "interviewed" Xu Duocheng about her "dream come true" with her idol.
Xu Duocheng reiterated that it was all a misunderstanding and implored Keqin not to tell anyone, especially her boss, Chief Qin, who was already showing interest in Jiang Nan's story. Just then, Xu Duocheng received a phone call from Jiang Nan, who instructed her to pick up her scrapbook at Sakuragi Coffee, prompting her to abruptly leave Keqin.

After Qin Shan started her workday, she was surprised by the return of Zhu Linfeng, her brother. Her sister was happy to see him, but Keqin quickly approached Qin Shan, informing her that Jiang Nan, the celebrity they had been tracking, had appeared. All the photographers were busy, and they needed someone to go with her for an interview.
At that moment, Zhu Linfeng, noticing Keqin's sweet appearance, suggested that since he was also a photography student, he could accompany her. When Keqin and Zhu Linfeng arrived at the restaurant, they were surprised to find Xu Duocheng and Jiang Nan together. Zhu Linfeng told Keqin that if Qin Shan ever scolded her again, she should mention his name, but Keqin felt that Qin Shan wasn't wrong and that she herself had simply not performed well. Meanwhile, at a party, Liang Zhe mocked Gu Jiayi, suggesting she was constantly pursuing Jiang Nan without success. She then remarked that Liang Zhe and his model girlfriend always seemed perfectly matched. Her father called her, but her phone was off, intensifying their concern about her safety. The next morning, Xu Duocheng woke up in a hotel room, surprisingly wearing a bathrobe. Feeling awkward, she found Jiang Nan outside.
He calmly explained that she had been very drunk and vomited the night before, so he brought her to the hotel and had the staff help her change and wash her clothes. While preparing breakfast for Xu Duocheng, Jiang Nan discovered news on his phone: the photo Keqin had taken of them the previous night had been published online, leading to a scandal. Meanwhile, Liang Zhe summoned Qiqi, commending her for exposing Jiang Nan's latest news. However, Qiqi clarified that the scoop actually came from Qin Shan's team.
Displeased, Liang Zhe instructed Qiqi to find a way to insert herself into Jiang Nan's story and leak more information, threatening to fire her if she failed to act. Jiang Nan’s agent, Bao Rui, discussed the escalating scandal with Jiang Nan. He suggested that a direct approach to a relationship, particularly with Xu Duocheng, might yield better results.
He believed that if Jiang Nan were seen with Xu Duocheng, it might finally make Gu Jiayi give up her persistent pursuit, potentially leading to smoother career prospects for Jiang Nan. Episode 3 Recap
Keqin apologized to Xu Duocheng for accidentally sending the photo to Qin Shan. She explained that she was drunk and the contacts were too close in her WeChat. Xu Duocheng dismissed her concern for herself, saying, "I'm fine." However, she added, "It's Jiang Nan. But he's troubled by this." Keqin immediately blamed Gu Jiayi for wanting Jiang Nan's news.
Xu Duocheng then revealed that Jiang Nan had asked her to pretend to be his girlfriend to make Gu Jiayi believe it. Keqin strongly advised against it, warning Xu Duocheng that getting involved in celebrity matters would lead to a chaotic life, especially for her family and relatives, whose lives would be "completely exposed in broad daylight." Back home, Xu Duocheng found her father, Xu Daqiang, on the phone, trying to borrow 300,000 yuan to buy the Hejiahuan restaurant.

Across town, Jiang Nan and Bao Rui were pleased with the effectiveness of Bao Rui's "ghost idea," a fake news story that successfully drew Xu Duocheng's concern. Jiang Nan felt that Xu Duocheng was genuinely worried about him. Bao Rui contacted Xu Duocheng, inviting her to meet. At their meeting, Bao Rui thanked Xu Duocheng for helping Jiang Nan.
He explained that Jiang Nan desired to make a comeback on his own and that the current scandal was highly inconvenient. He clarified that Jiang Nan's "quitting" was a desperate measure and that he could return to the industry immediately if Xu Duocheng cooperated. Xu Duocheng asked about the requirements for her help. He noted her occasional errors at critical moments. Manager Yang, initially hesitant due to her performance, decided to hire Xu Duocheng, seemingly influenced by Zhan Zhilin's silent approval. Jiang Nan's mother, Caiyun, who has been receiving treatment for a mental illness at a nursing home, was found sitting by the river, causing concern among the nurses. When Jiang Nan arrived in his work uniform, Caiyun mistook him for her husband, Jianghai, and immediately calmed down, leaning on his shoulder and reminiscing about their past. Though their early life was hard, Caiyun expressed her hope that their son would grow up to be a strong, independent man.
Jiang Nan assured her that he would not disappoint her. Meanwhile, Xu Duocheng, sent by Bao Rui to deliver keys to Jiang Nan, arrived at the nursing home. Inside, she spotted a beautiful piano and, unable to resist, began to play. Her music drew both Jiang Nan and Caiyun to her. Xu Duocheng was also surprised to see Jiang Nan dressed in a worker's uniform.
Caiyun, still mistaking Jiang Nan for Jianghai, questioned why Xu Duocheng was playing "her husband's piano." Xu Duocheng explained her love for the instrument. After handing the keys to Jiang Nan, she apologized for the intrusion and left. Jiang Nan introduced Xu Duocheng to Caiyun as his new assistant. Later, Jiang Nan received a call from the doctor, who informed him that Caiyun's condition was unstable and her medication wasn't fully effective.
The doctor noted that Xu Duocheng's piano playing seemed to soothe Caiyun's emotions and suggested it might evoke special feelings in her, advising Jiang Nan to consider bringing Xu Duocheng to play for his mother regularly. Jiang Nan discussed the situation with Xu Duocheng, explaining that his mother believed she was still in her twenties and saw him as his father. He asked Xu Duocheng to play the piano to help ease Caiyun's mood.
Xu Duocheng agreed to help and visited Caiyun at the nursing home. After playing for some time, Caiyun grew very fond of her, which made Jiang Nan feel very happy about their harmonious interaction. Upon her return, Caiyun recognized Xu Duocheng and welcomed her in. After listening to Xu Duocheng play, Caiyun admired her shining nail polish.
Xu Duocheng offered to do Caiyun’s nails next time and suggested Caiyun call her "Chengcheng," while Caiyun, preferring not to be called "Mrs. Jiang," asked to be called "Caiyun." Xu Duocheng helped, and finally Ke Qin could be asked to do an exclusive interview. So Ke Qin quickly went to Qin Shan to report, but unexpectedly Qin Shan told Ke Qin to prepare quickly and even added a lot of work for her, which made Ke Qin feel very helpless. Just after Ke Qin left, Zhu Linfeng went in. Seeing that Ke Qin was a bit unhappy, he questioned his sister. Qin Shan, however, was very impatient.
Jiang Nan gave Xu Duocheng his new song to listen to, which made Xu Duocheng feel incredibly touching. She suspected the song was written for her, and she was secretly delighted. Afterwards, she got up in the morning and prepared a meal for Jiang Nan, which made Jiang Nan very happy, feeling that Xu Duocheng finally had him in her heart.
Xu Duocheng was in a hurry to go to work for teaching, but she was surprised to see Zhan Zhilin waiting for her.
