Tang Xin insisted on bandaging Wu Si's finger, expressing concern that injuring a finger connected to the heart must hurt. Wu Si replied that his index finger is needed for pulling the trigger and bandaging it would make it stiff. He initially refused but relented under Tang Xin's persistence. As she bandaged his hand, he told her she shouldn't have risked her life climbing onto a roof to save people during her previous interview.
Tang Xin defended her actions, saying she couldn't just stand by when there were elderly people and children needing help. Wu Si urged her to avoid dangerous situations in the future and thanked her on behalf of the children. Meanwhile, Han Yuhang instructed his assistant to investigate the owner of an email address, explaining that the person behind it had scammed his friend out of a sum of money.
His assistant suggested investigating through the female reporter, but Han Yuhang told him not to. Lan Yangyang restlessly flipped through television channels, searching for news about Zong Qing. Desperate, she pleaded with her mother to ask her father to let her go to the disaster site. Her mother refused, pointing out that the site was not a place she could just go and she would only get in the way, not help.
Lan Yangyang insisted she just wanted to see Zong Qing because she was worried about him, especially since they had just married and been separated for so long. Her mother remained firm, telling her not to even think about it and that whining wouldn't work. Wu Si received an urgent order from the Brigadier. Heavy rainfall had put the Shiqiao Dam on the Wenhe River, northwest of their coordination zone, at risk of bursting due to erosion at its base.
This posed a great danger to downstream cities. The Sixth Unit stationed there was severely understaffed, and all units were needed for emergency reinforcement. Wu Si accepted the mission and ordered his unit to bring all remaining sandbags. The Brigadier acknowledged their unit had already been fighting for days and was tired, but stressed that in such a critical time, they must continue to brave dangers and overcome difficulties through continuous action.
At the Shiqiao Dam, Tang Xin reported on the Marine Corps Blue Blade Special Ops Team's efforts to save the dam by blocking tributaries. However, the current was too strong, making it impossible to effectively place sandbags to block the main breach. With limited sandbags left and time running out, Wu Si realized they had to block the opening first.
He ordered Zong Qing and Cheng Yuan to jump into the icy water and use their bodies to hold the line so others could fill the breach. As Wu Si and his team struggled against the torrent, Tang Xin, despite the danger, ran to the edge and jumped into the water to join them. Their combined efforts held the flood back. The flood peak successfully passed, and the dam was saved. The soldiers on the dam celebrated their hard-won victory.
Undeterred after her mother's refusal, Lan Yangyang sought out Mr. Tian, Tang Xin's supervisor. She introduced herself as Tang Xin's friend and expressed her concern, explaining she hadn't been able to reach Tang Xin since she went to Mazhan Town. While Mr. Tian assured her Tang Xin was fine and they were in contact with other reporters, Lan Yangyang seized the opportunity when she heard supply trucks were heading to Mazhan Town.
She requested to join one of the trucks to reach the disaster zone. Wu Si approached Tang Xin and asked to speak with her privately. He confessed that he was the one who saved her life at Dayan Reef. He apologized for hiding it, explaining that protecting civilians is a soldier's duty and he didn't want her to feel indebted or approach him only because he saved her. He wanted her to see the real him outside of the uniform.
Tang Xin told him she had suspected it all along while spending time with him and wasn't surprised by his confession. She thanked him formally for saving her life that day and for everything else he had done. With things cleared up, Tang Xin asked him a question: Since their relationship had initially been a pretense for their parents' matchmaking and a mission, was there still a reason to continue it now?
Lan Yangyang arrived at the disaster site via the supply truck and immediately began looking for Zong Qing. She met Yi Nanwang, who recognized her as Zong Qing's wife. Yi Nanwang informed her that Zong Qing was helping at the medical tent with injured civilians and offered to take her there. When she found Zong Qing, Lan Yangyang excitedly embraced him, saying she missed him.
However, Zong Qing angrily told her to let go and questioned why she had come to such a dangerous place while he was on duty. He yelled at her to go back the way she came and ordered Yi Nanwang to escort her out. Upset, Lan Yangyang later confided in Tang Xin, explaining she was scolded by Zong Qing. Yi Nanwang, also present, confirmed that Zong Qing was just worried about her.
Bai Zijian's mother arrived at his new home in Wenzhou, displeased that he had moved his job and home without telling her. She initially expressed concern that he didn't want her or his wife, Wang Chen, around. Bai Zijian clarified that moving to Wenzhou was his own decision and his primary reason was to try and have a child with Wang Chen soon.
Upon hearing about the possibility of a grandchild, his mother became happy and urged them to make it happen quickly while she was still healthy enough to help. Lan Yangyang returned home still upset and was scolded by her mother for going to the dangerous disaster zone. Her mother told her she was wrong to go and cause Zong Qing worry, pointing out that her concern was misplaced given the circumstances.
Lan Yangyang complained that Zong Qing had yelled at her in front of others, causing her embarrassment. Her mother reiterated that she was in the wrong and needed to adjust to married life, though she eventually indulged Lan Yangyang's playful remark about making Zong Qing do push-ups as punishment. The anti-flood mission was successfully completed. The troops were announced to be returning for rest.
As they withdrew, locals lined the streets, cheering, expressing heartfelt thanks, and offering tokens of gratitude to the soldiers who had protected them. Wang Chen also returned home and was greeted by Bai Zijian and his mother. Bai Zijian's mother mentioned seeing his unit on television and how hard the soldiers worked. She quickly brought up the topic of children again, urging them to start a family soon so she could help.
After his mother left, Wang Chen confronted Bai Zijian about telling his mother they were planning to have a child, reminding him that the doctor had clearly stated their chances were very low. She accused him of lying, but Bai Zijian dismissed it as just playing along to make his mother happy. Tang Xin discussed her relationship with Wu Si with her father.
Her father expressed surprise that things weren't working out, saying he thought they had gotten closer during the mission. Tang Xin explained that they were simply not compatible and it was better to end things early. She reminded her father that she had told him from the start she didn't want to date a soldier. Later, Wu Si sat alone, looking at the bandage Tang Xin had placed on his finger.
Some time later, during what appeared to be a break or honeymoon period, Lan Yangyang tried to wake a tired Zong Qing, who hadn't slept well during the mission. Her mother called, telling her not to rely on takeout and to learn to cook. Lan Yangyang attempted to make breakfast but accidentally caused a small fire or smoke, startling herself. Zong Qing quickly came to her aid, ensuring she wasn't hurt and comforting her with a hug, despite her mishap.
