Having identified the person responsible for harming Auntie Lan, Su Bei felt a temporary sense of relief. She shared with Lu Nan that things were finally over and Yu Jia had agreed to surrender. Su Bei expressed her sadness, feeling like she had lost another family member, especially with Auntie Lan still in the hospital.
Lu Nan comforted her, saying not everyone is worth cherishing and that he would hold her hand and handle everything for her, promising he would never let her go again. The couple returned home, where Chris was also present. Su Bei affectionately kissed Chris, which made Lu Nan playfully jealous, demanding a kiss for himself. Chris teased Lu Nan for being childish.
The three enjoyed a warm family moment together, completely unaware that Lu Fei Er was watching them from outside, her face contorted with fierce jealousy. Before surrendering, Yu Jia attempted to contact Gu Yan, but he had already blocked her calls and WeChat. Earlier, upon hearing that Yu Jia was exposed, Gu Yan angrily called her "stupid" and immediately instructed his subordinate to destroy all evidence linking him to her.
Heartbroken and realizing her calls to Gu Yan were futile, Yu Jia stood outside the police station, weeping as she recalled her past moments with him. She then called Su Bei, who reassured her that she, Chris, and Auntie Lan would wait for her to come out and would always be there for her. With this, Yu Jia walked into the police station, ultimately taking sole responsibility for all the crimes.
Su Bei wanted to meet Gu Yan, and Lu Nan insisted on accompanying her, stating he wouldn't let her out of his sight again. Gu Yan admitted he had initially believed their divorce was genuine, not a strategic setup to expose the mole within Eminence. Su Bei expressed her disappointment, unable to believe that her once-trusted friend, a man she considered honorable, would stoop to using a woman to achieve his vile objectives.
She directly confronted him, asking that if his motive for framing Gu Chengze was to seize control of Gu's Group, then what was his true intention behind meticulously targeting Lu Nan? Gu Yan feigned ignorance, denying any involvement with Yu Jia, claiming she was merely a tailor he had met a few times, and pretending not to understand Su Bei's accusations against Lu Nan.
Su Bei then presented him with previously taken photographs, concrete evidence of his association with Yu Jia, and warned him to "watch out." She and Lu Nan then left together. Meanwhile, Lu Nan's recurrent dizzy spells were worsening, and his vision was becoming increasingly blurry due to the blood clot in his brain.
Yun Fan reported the good news that Eminence had successfully gone public and its stocks were soaring, but Lu Nan, struggling with his vision, asked Yun Fan to help him review documents. Yun Fan urged him to undergo surgery as soon as possible, emphasizing that his condition could not be delayed. However, Lu Nan refused, explaining that despite Eminence's successful IPO, not all obstacles had been cleared.
He also felt he owed Su Bei a great deal and wanted to give her a "happy life without burdens," free from worries about his health. He explicitly forbade Yun Fan from telling Su Bei about his condition. Yun Fan pressed him, arguing that as husband and wife, they should face difficulties together and that Su Bei was not as fragile as he thought.
Lu Nan, however, remained firm, promising Yun Fan that he would undergo the surgery only after he had eradicated all remaining obstacles, ensuring Su Bei could smoothly take over Eminence. He also made a poignant request to Yun Fan: to show him a picture of Su Bei on their wedding day before his surgery, as he had forgotten what she looked like. Yun Fan, moved, agreed to arrange it.
True to his word, Lu Nan arranged a surprise for Su Bei, inviting her to a hotel. Upon entering the room, Su Bei was greeted by a romantic scene: the space was filled with fresh flowers and balloons, and a television screen displayed a montage of their cherished photos from the past. Lu Nan appeared and, with a heartfelt confession, reiterated his deep love and apologized for his past shortcomings, promising to strive to be the best for her.
He vowed to love her every day of his life, acknowledging that their reunion had not been easy and asking for another chance to start anew. He formally introduced himself and then proposed marriage once more. Overcome with emotion, Su Bei tearfully accepted his proposal.
The following morning, Su Bei playfully chided Lu Nan for wanting to skip work after their romantic night, reminding him that they couldn't rest until the "big bad guy" was caught and that Gu Yan would be brought to justice. She then left for work, while Lu Nan, feigning exhaustion, stayed behind. Instead, he met with Yun Fan to finalize wedding plans, teasing him about Ye Ting.
Shortly after, Lu Nan headed to the factory to pick up Su Bei and have dinner with their son. Meanwhile, Su Bei received an urgent call about an incident at the Eminence Environmental Clothing warehouse and rushed there. Upon arrival, she was shocked to find only Lu Fei Er inside. Lu Fei Er, seeing Su Bei, immediately kicked over a gasoline barrel, spilling its contents across the floor and preparing to ignite it.
Su Bei tried to reason with her, offering to meet any demands and involving Lu Nan, but Lu Fei Er angrily blamed Su Bei for destroying her family and demanded she pay a price. As Lu Nan arrived, finding the warehouse doors locked from the outside and people attempting to force entry, Su Bei, fearing he would be implicated, remained silent. Lu Fei Er, realizing Su Bei's protective instincts, threatened to die with her.
Lu Nan broke into the warehouse and confronted Lu Fei Er, calling her hopeless and demanding she release Su Bei. Still consumed by her obsession, Lu Fei Er insisted that if Lu Nan left Su Bei and pledged to be with her forever, traveling the world and never returning, she would stop. Lu Nan vehemently rejected her, declaring he had disowned her and found her transformation terrifying.
Enraged, Lu Fei Er blamed Su Bei, believing that if Su Bei died, everything could revert to the past. She attacked Su Bei, but Lu Nan managed to snatch the lighter from her. In a violent struggle, Lu Fei Er then choked Su Bei. As they fought, a shelf was knocked over.
In a desperate act to protect Su Bei and Lu Fei Er, Lu Nan pushed them both out of harm's way, taking the full force of the falling goods himself. He collapsed, severely injured and unconscious. The police soon arrived and apprehended Lu Fei Er. At the hospital, Lu Nan regained consciousness, and surprisingly, the trauma triggered the recovery of his memories from seven years ago, including the plagiarism incident that led to Su Bei's departure.
He tightly clasped Su Bei's hand, repeatedly apologizing for sending her away, for not protecting her, for forgetting her, and for doubting her after her return. He also expressed regret for his "greedy" decision to prioritize Eminence's reputation over proving her innocence at the time. Su Bei comforted him, assuring him that it was all in the past and that she and Chris would be there for him. However, as he spoke, Lu Nan's vision began to blur again.
Feigning only dizziness and hunger, he managed to get Su Bei and his grandmother to leave the room. He then confided in Yun Fan, admitting that he "can't see anything." The attending doctor informed them that the recent head trauma had severely worsened his condition, with the blood clot now pressing on his brain's nerves, causing temporary blindness due to emotional fluctuations.
The doctor strongly recommended immediate surgery, but Lu Nan, still resistant, insisted on more time to consider and implored the doctor to keep the true severity of his condition a secret from Su Bei. Yun Fan attempted to intervene and urge him to tell her, but Lu Nan quietly signaled for him to remain silent. Unbeknownst to them, Gu Yan was busy forging a new alliance.
He met with Director Guo, a major shareholder of Eminence, over a game of golf. Gu Yan subtly praised Director Guo's business acumen and golf skills, then directly revealed his true intentions: he wished to befriend him and, more importantly, assist him in taking over Eminence. When Director Guo initially demurred, claiming to be merely a minor shareholder without such ambitions, Gu Yan pressed him, questioning if he was truly content with always "taking a back seat" to Lu Nan.
Gu Yan then openly disclosed his personal motives, declaring his goal to "Destroy the hero, and win the beauty" – clearly indicating his desire for Su Bei and his intent to seek revenge for his brother, Gu Chengze, whom he believed Lu Nan had framed. He proposed a partnership to jointly acquire Eminence, hinting at greater financial rewards and unexpected surprises.
Director Guo, after some hesitation, seemed to agree to consider the collaboration, acknowledging that taking down Eminence would not be easy but Gu Yan's help could make a difference. Troubled by Lu Nan's evasiveness regarding his health, Su Bei sought help from Ye Ting. She explained that Lu Nan was not being truthful about his condition and asked Ye Ting to distract Yun Fan the following day so she could discreetly test Lu Nan.
Ye Ting playfully remarked on Yun Fan being easily manipulated and feigned disinterest, but Su Bei, recalling her own regrets over lost years due to misunderstandings with Lu Nan, urged her to cherish finding someone she liked. The next day, Su Bei found Lu Nan and Yun Fan together. She pulled out a contract, claiming it was an urgent follow-up cooperation agreement with Sia that required Lu Nan's immediate signature to discreetly gauge his visual impairment.
Lu Nan, whose vision was already severely compromised, attempted to pretend his eyes were just strained from reading and asked for a break. However, Su Bei pressed him to sign, insisting on its urgency. As Lu Nan struggled to locate the signature line on the document, his difficulty in seeing became evident, confirming Su Bei's growing suspicions that his physical condition had indeed taken a serious turn for the worse.
