Su Chenjun’s proposal for the Lianjiawang online real estate platform was approved by Zhong Qing. Afterward, Jiao Yang surprised Lin Miao by decorating a rooftop to resemble a cozy home. He explained that he had wanted to do this before, but Lin Weijun’s interference had ruined his initial plans, and subsequent busy periods due to bidding had put it on hold until now.
Jiao Yang reaffirmed his promise to give Lin Miao a home, stating that unit 001 of Infinite Home would never be sold and would belong exclusively to her. Taking her hand, he confessed his love, saying, “My family earned their success by building houses. From what I see, everyone’s life begins with an empty room. I’ve spent 25 years filling my empty room with new furniture and decorating it the way I like.
Now that the work is done, are you willing to be the mistress of the household?” Lin Miao smiled and replied, "I am willing," before they shared a sweet kiss. Unseen, Zhao Yan witnessed the tender moment, her heart breaking, while Secretary Yan stood by, unsure how to comfort her. Suddenly, Jiao Yang received a call informing him that his father was in the hospital. He and Lin Miao rushed there, where Chairman Zhao was already present.
The doctor explained that Chairman Jiao's heart condition had worsened over the past year and strongly urged Jiao Yang to convince his father to undergo surgery at their partner hospital in the US. The doctor warned that if Chairman Jiao suffered another heart failure, they might not be able to save him. Jiao Yang was told his father needed to be observed in the ICU overnight and should be sent overseas for surgery by the end of the week.
Overwhelmed, Jiao Yang recalled his mother lying in the ICU and never waking up, regretting that he hadn't taken good care of his father. Lin Miao comforted him, telling him it was his turn to look out for his father. Later, Secretary Yan found a heartbroken Zhao Yan. Zhao Yan dismissed Secretary Yan's attempt at comfort, insisting she was only worried about Chairman Jiao’s condition, and decided to go home to stew soup for him using his late wife’s recipe.
Before leaving, she instructed Secretary Yan to look after Jiao Yang. Meanwhile, Secretary Yan informed Jiao Yang that the board of directors had requested an emergency meeting for the next day. The next morning, Lin Miao found Jiao Yang already gone from the hospital. At the board meeting, some directors questioned Jiao Yang’s capability to lead, proposing to elect a new chairman due to Chairman Jiao’s health.
Chairman Zhao fiercely supported Jiao Yang, reminding the board that they too started out inexperienced and pledging his full support. The meeting was adjourned without a decision. Jiao Yang thanked Chairman Zhao, who then rushed back to the hospital with him upon receiving a call that his father was awake. Chairman Jiao, concerned about the board's maneuvering, told Jiao Yang he couldn't go to the US for surgery without a stable succession plan.
He proposed that Jiao Yang get engaged to Zhao Yan, reasoning that their combined family influence and shares would deter the other directors. Jiao Yang was shocked and refused, explaining that he saw Zhao Yan as a sister and was already in a relationship with Lin Miao. Chairman Jiao, unaware of Lin Miao, asked who she was. Just then, Lin Miao returned with chicken soup wontons.
Sensing something was wrong, she questioned Jiao Yang, but he evaded her by focusing on the food. At the beach, Zhao Yan confided in Secretary Yan that she and Jiao Yang used to play there as children but had never returned after growing up. She wondered why people had to grow up, to which Secretary Yan replied it was to explore more of the world. Zhao Yan then wished Jiao Yang’s feelings for her would change.
When her high heels got stuck in the sand, Secretary Yan offered her own flat shoes, advising her not to make things harder for herself when she was unhappy. Later, Chairman Zhao found Zhao Yan at home in a low mood. To cheer her up, he revealed that he and Chairman Jiao had arranged for her and Jiao Yang to be engaged before his father left for the US.
Overwhelmed with joy, Zhao Yan cried, confessing that marrying Jiao Yang had been her greatest wish. Lin Miao questioned Jiao Yang again about the board meeting. He downplayed the situation and gave her three days off, but she remained suspicious. Jiao Yang then confided in Secretary Yan that his father’s engagement proposal was the real reason he needed to meet with the board—he had to secure their support on his own terms to avoid sacrificing Zhao Yan.
He instructed Secretary Yan to arrange individual meetings with the "cunning old foxes" on the board, including Chairman Xie and Chairman Cao, and to prevent Lin Miao from finding out. To stall Lin Miao, Secretary Yan engineered a situation where she pretended to have mixed up confidential documents, convincing a concerned Lin Miao to help sort them. Jiao Yang then met with Chairman Cao.
She expressed her admiration for his late mother, a renowned designer, but also her suspicion of him, stressing that she was neutral and only interested in profit. For her alliance, she proposed leveraging the innovative energy recycling technology used for her special flower tea, suggesting they integrate it with Infinite Home as a new lifestyle concept to be promoted nationwide.
After the meeting, Jiao Yang told Secretary Yan to keep trying to schedule a meeting with Chairman Xie, while pondering his strategy with Chairman Cao and again reminding her to keep everything from Lin Miao. Eventually, Lin Miao confronted Jiao Yang in his office. He jokingly claimed he was hiding a "surprise" for her, but before he could explain, he received a call and had to rush back to the hospital.
There, he found Zhao Yan with his father, who was looking at old photos and reminiscing about a childhood promise Jiao Yang made to marry Zhao Yan. He then openly asked Zhao Yan if she would be willing to get engaged to Jiao Yang before his surgery. Jiao Yang quickly intervened, dismissing it as a childhood joke and rushing Zhao Yan home.
In the car, he reiterated that his father was just worried and that she shouldn't take the proposal seriously, vowing to prove himself capable of leading without such sacrifices. Back home, Jiao Yang found Lin Miao asleep on the sofa. He sat beside her, silently apologizing for lying and wishing he could solve all the problems on his own.
