That night, Bai Feili was still immersed in work. Yu Fei, standing at his door, hesitated before leaving a note on his door. The note read that she forgave Bai Feili for yesterday and hoped he could forgive her for today. Bai Feili saw the note but retreated to his room. Later, at Shuji's busy shop, Yu Fei tried to sing "Wu Zixu" but found herself mistakenly singing the lyrics of "South Song."

Shuji astutely observed that Yu Fei was not merely torn between two operas, but rather in an inner conflict between her love and her career. Shuji remarked on Yu Fei's exhaustion, noting the huge bags under her eyes, and offered her tea. She questioned who throughout history had managed to have both love and a career, pointing out that one often gives up love for career or stands aloof from worldly success for love.

Despite this, Yu Fei felt compelled to try for both, believing she would regret it if she didn't even attempt. Suddenly, her grandpa called, reporting that Bai Feili had an accident during rehearsal. Yu Fei, immediately concerned, rushed away. Shuji, watching her leave, mused that sometimes destiny brings people together only to separate them. Yu Fei hurried home, where her grandparents were waiting outside Bai Feili's room, feigning distress about his condition.

Inside, Bai Feili, who was lying in bed, assured her that he was fine and their grandparents had tricked her. When Yu Fei pressed him about what happened, he remained silent. As she turned to leave, Bai Feili reached out, grasping her hand and asking her to stay. He then asked Yu Fei what she would do if he were to stand on the opposite side of her one day.

Yu Fei declared that she would cross over and stand directly by his side. Bai Feili then questioned her, asking what if he didn't want her to come, or if being by his side would bring her harm. Yu Fei recounted Shuji's mysterious divinations that always concluded with "participation is important," but asserted that she wanted a "result," not just participation, and standing by Bai Feili was the outcome she desired.

Bai Feili then posed another "what if": choosing between him and an opportunity she had long awaited. Yu Fei, frustrated by the many hypotheticals, was relieved when Bai Feili stopped pressing her, instead wishing her luck for the "Golden Age of Spring and Autumn Period" interview scheduled for 8 AM the next morning, confident she would pass.

During the "Golden Age of Spring and Autumn Period" interviews, many talented individuals showcased their skills, and Yu Fei's Uncle was among the interview judges. Meanwhile, Bai Feili was alone in his room, pondering their relationship. He tore up the note Yu Fei had left. Recalling their shared past, he looked at their "Mane lions," a token of their love, which he then threw away.

He also thought about Yu Fei's Fragrans bracelet, which he had said symbolized companionship, concluding that he could only accompany her so far. Just as Yu Fei was about to be called for her interview, she checked her phone and saw a social media update that Lingjiu had replaced Liu Xichan in "Dream of the South 2." Disturbed, Yu Fei left the interview hall and was stopped by her Uncle.

He reminded her that the Shandengting troupe had invested years in her training so she could perform on larger stages, questioning what could be more important than the audition. Yu Fei, apologizing, reiterated that if forced to choose, she would choose Bai Feili. Yu Fei found Bai Feili and informed him that she had given up the interview. She then asked if his choice was to give her up.

Bai Feili explained that "Dream of the South" had a significant impact on Jiubai Studio and required highly professional actors. Yu Fei argued that she was as professional as Lingjiu, sensing there was something else he wasn't telling her, and offered to help find a solution. However, Bai Feili was resolute, telling her that her professional talent wasn't in stage plays.

He questioned if abandoning her career for money was worth it, reminding her that she initially joined the stage play not for passion or for him, but for 50,000 yuan. Yu Fei was deeply hurt, asking if that was truly how he viewed her. Bai Feili continued with harsh words, stating that she demanded too much security and that he wondered how much it would take to fill her insecurity.

Hurt, Yu Fei defiantly retorted that she did love money, suggesting it was the only reason he had been able to get close to her. Bai Feili, in turn, told her to learn to be strong and stop relying on others, adding that he would look down on her and would not accept her a second time if she came back after losing everything. He then returned the Fragrans bracelet.

Yu Fei reminded him that she had said she never wanted it back and walked away without taking it. Bai Feili threw the bracelet to the ground. Yu Fei ran out into the rain, discarded her Mane lions, wiped her tears, and left. Yu Fei rushed back to the interview, only to find it had already concluded.

Mr. Nan, one of the judges, initially dismissed her, assuming she was a "pull-strings" candidate who had arrived late, stating his policy against such individuals. Yu Fei ingeniously challenged him, asserting that since she was already there and he didn't use "pull-strings" candidates, he should at least listen to her sing.

She clarified that she was there to audition for Wu Zixu, not Ji Guang, and proceeded to deliver a performance that impressed the judges, securing her a spot in the next round. She later learned that she would be competing against Li Shaoyan, the accomplished son of the renowned Yang school actor Li Zhurong and Qing Yi actress Jiang Tianlu, who had recently performed with his family in the Musikverein.

Yu Fei acknowledged his talent, mentioning she had heard his "Wen Zhao Guan" performance and praised his firm intonation and steady breath. Dao Ge approached Yu Fei, jubilantly presenting her with flowers, which he revealed were a celebration of her breakup, not her successful interview. He also gave her a collection of rare Peking Opera master tapes, celebrating her "new life."

Yu Fei, now resolute, declared that she had achieved great clarity, understanding that one must have high aspirations and not be swayed by fleeting romance. Her ideals, she said, were her "band-aid," already applied to her emotional wounds. Meanwhile, Bai Feili began packing to move out late that night. His grandmother confronted him, asking if he was truly giving up on Yu Fei.

She noted that young people sometimes prioritize what they consider "unrealistic ideals" over happiness and love, but implied that it might not be worth it. However, she then shared her own life story: she had once aspired to win the Nobel Prize in physics but chose to give up that pursuit to raise Bai Feili, finding immense value in their family and his growth.

She emphasized the significance of family and the comfort of always having a home, reminding him that she and his grandpa would always provide him a place to stay. As Bai Feili prepared to leave, Lingjiu, waiting outside his house, subtly signaled paparazzi to photograph her and Bai Feili, exploiting the moment for her own agenda. At the "Golden Age of Spring and Autumn Period" rehearsal room, Yu Fei joined other male actors who were also auditioning for Wu Zixu.

She learned that Li Shaoyan was already expected to play the lead ("A role"), and the others were competing for the understudy or "B role." Li Shaoyan soon arrived, bringing breakfast for everyone, but Mr. Nan instructed them to eat outside on the lawn.
