As they approached the area, Yang Shu confirmed the sniper's general location but found it challenging to pinpoint the exact spot due to numerous obstructions.
Qin Guan created a diversion, allowing Yang Shu to find a better vantage point. She quickly located the target and fired, but the professional sniper managed to escape by throwing a bomb and utilizing a pre-planned escape route. Qin Guan and Yang Shu discovered a small "nasal passage" device left behind by the sniper, which they suspected contained stimulants. Meanwhile, Lin Yi and Xu Dongdong were in pursuit of the female terrorist, Sasha, determined not to let her get away.
Lin Yi managed to shoot Sasha, but as Xu Dongdong approached, she saw that Sasha had explosives strapped to her. Sasha screamed that she would blow them up. Xu Dongdong, horrified and panicked, cried out for medical support, pleading for Lin Yi to hold on. Lin Yi, with a weakening voice, tried to reassure her not to be afraid. Xu Dongdong insisted he would be fine and begged him to keep talking to her. She confessed that no boy had ever fought for her, and only he treated her like a cherished little girl. She pleaded with him to live, promising to repay his kindness.
Lin Yi, however, was fading, whispering that he was sorry and asking Xu Dongdong to take care of herself, and to convey his apologies to everyone and his parents, assuring them he hadn't disgraced them. Xu Dongdong herself sustained minor injuries in the explosion, but the emotional wound of Lin Yi's death was far deeper. She lamented that she had never had the chance to tell him she liked him, a confession military rules had prevented her from making. She had dreamed of telling him after Operation Lightning ended and the Blue Lightning Commando disbanded.

Concerned, Wen Jing instructed Ning Meng to stay nearby, out of sight, and bring her back once her initial grief subsided. Xu Dongdong tearfully vowed to treat Lin Yi's parents as her own. Qin Guan approached her, returning a necklace that Lin Yi had intended as a birthday gift for her. He spoke of the heavy burden soldiers carry and the inevitability of sacrifice, acknowledging Lin Yi as a true hero and the best warrior.

Back at the military base, the commander informed Qin Guan and Wen Jing about new intelligence. The public security department's investigation suggested that the terrorist group was transporting a substantial amount of heavy cargo in two vehicles.
The contents remained a mystery, but their extreme care indicated its immense importance to the terrorists. The presence of a highly professional sniper further highlighted the seriousness of the situation. Given Lin Yi's recent sacrifice, the commander stressed the urgent need to boost the Blue Lightning team's morale and combat effectiveness.
