Upon seeing Wu Qihao discard his stick, Ning Yi recalled Wu Qihao's earlier mention of the Pu Yuan Poetry Meeting, and a plan began to form in his mind. He returned to his wing, unaware that Su Tan'er's mother was praising his talents to her close friends, acknowledging his help with Su Tan'er's business. However, she lamented the lack of progress in their personal relationship regarding having children and continuing the family line.

Her friends suggested a method, providing a special "tiger wine" to make men "passionate and energetic." Su Tan'er's mother, accompanied by her friends, then cornered Ning Yi and insisted he drink the potent wine, despite his polite refusals. Overwhelmed, Ning Yi was eventually escorted by them to Su Tan'er's room, with her mother urging him to quickly provide her with a grandson.

Inside the room, a flustered Su Tan'er watched as Ning Yi explained that her mother had forced him to drink the wine. As the effects of the "tiger wine" took hold, Ning Yi felt an unbearable heat and declared he could not stand it, then excused himself before vigorously shaking the bed and using a hammer to break through the wall, creating a large hole that connected their rooms to his ear-room.

Outside, Su Tan'er's mother and her friends, hearing the loud noises, mistakenly believed the couple was engaged in intimacy and were relieved about the supposed progress towards grandchildren, though Su Tan'er's mother worried her daughter might be too frail for such "intensity" and resolved to prepare tonic for her. Ning Yi instructed Su Tan'er to take over shaking the bed, ensuring the noise was just right to maintain the illusion and prevent her mother from seeing through their ruse.

Once the coast was clear, Ning Yi explained how this new passage allowed him to escape to his own room whenever such a situation arose, by simply removing the covering. With the immediate crisis averted and the wine's effects subsiding as he sweat, Su Tan'er confessed to Ning Yi that she had long wanted to share her true feelings, thanking him for his repeated assistance with the Su Cloth Store, which he helped put back on track.

She admitted her initial misjudgment, having thought him merely a dull scholar. Puzzled by his capabilities, she questioned why he chose to remain in a small village rather than pursuing business or scholarly honors. Ning Yi gave her an abstract explanation about coming from "the other side of a magic hole," a concept Tan'er struggled to grasp but still felt he had greatly improved.

Su Tan'er then shared her deeply held belief that appearance, background, social status, or gender were insignificant, emphasizing that only one's conduct and capabilities truly mattered. She explained her ambition to take over the Family Representative Seal was driven by her concern that if it fell into the hands of her greedy uncle and cousin, the cloth store's future would be bleak.

She recounted past conflicts with her father, who vehemently opposed her involvement in business, fearing the hardships a woman would face in that world, leading to a strained relationship where they rarely spoke. Ning Yi then revealed that her father, despite his strict demeanor, actually cared deeply for her, having secretly asked Ning Yi to ensure she obtained the Family Representative Seal, believing it to be her greatest wish.

Ning Yi pointed out that both father and daughter were equally stubborn, each waiting for the other to make the first move in reconciliation. Meanwhile, Ning Yi had been busy promoting Su's Cloth Store. He visited the Academy of Male Virtuousness, distributing new business cards for the store to his classmates and encouraging them to spread the word.

His friends informed him that the Su family clan meeting was scheduled for that day, where the seal would be handed over to Su Tan'er, making her Jiangning's first female head of a household. After his friends left, Ning Yi was left to eat watermelon alone, reflecting on his restricted status as a matrilocal son-in-law, preventing him from directly participating in clan affairs.

He also visited Master Kang and Master Qin, providing them with business cards and inquiring about the Pu Yuan Poetry Meeting. Master Kang explained it was a grand event where various cloth stores invited singers to showcase their fabrics through performances and poetry. At the annual Su Family clan meeting, Elder Master announced his decision to transfer the Family Representative Seal to Su Tan'er.

However, the Second Master's family immediately objected, claiming Tan'er's accounts were inaccurate, with over a hundred thousand taels of figures not matching, and questioned the rash handover. They accused her of forging the books, asserting that her initial quick success must have been fraudulent. Su Tan'er requested two hours to sort out the accounts. Knowing the severity of the situation, Guard Geng rushed to alert Ning Yi.

Ning Yi quickly arrived at the meeting, presenting a complete collection of all purchase and sales receipts since Tan'er took over the cloth store, proving the accuracy of her meticulously redone accounts. He calmly presented the evidence, silencing the Second Master's family's accusations, who then tried to dismiss him as a mere son-in-law without a right to be present.

Ning Yi retorted about their lack of legal awareness and their luck, then gracefully excused himself, stating he would not interrupt their "corporate internal meeting" further. Despite the proven accuracy, the Second Master's family continued to object, citing Tan'er's gender and arguing that it was inappropriate for a woman to hold the Family Representative Seal, as it would cause outside criticism.

Just as Elder Master seemed to waver, Su Tan'er's father, who had previously been unsupportive of her business ambitions, unexpectedly stepped forward. He passionately defended his daughter, highlighting her innate talent in weaving and business, which he said was well-known throughout Jiangning. He pointed out the undeniable fact that the cloth store's business had flourished under her management.

Elder Master then addressed Su Tan'er, questioning if she truly understood the immense responsibility of the seal and the tenfold effort a woman would need to exert on such a challenging path. He also asked if she could uphold the Su family motto: respecting elders, helping peers, and protecting the weak, and if she could balance family business with wider societal contributions. Su Tan'er confidently affirmed her commitment to all these responsibilities.

When the Second Master's family raised the historical precedent of no female seal holders, her father boldly declared, "Then we’ll make history today!" His powerful words convinced the Elder Master, who then formally handed the Family Representative Seal to Su Tan'er. Afterwards, Su Tan'er sought out her father to express her heartfelt gratitude for his unexpected support, a gesture that helped fulfill her father's long-held dream for her.

However, their tender father-daughter moment was abruptly interrupted by Ning Yi, who enthusiastically called out to his "Father-in-law," causing the proud father to huff and leave. That evening, Su Tan'er and Ning Yi celebrated her achievement. Overjoyed with the seal and her father's support, Su Tan'er decided to share a celebratory drink with Ning Yi, unaware that her mother was secretly listening and smiling from outside the door, pleased that her plan to bring them closer seemed to be working.

Ning Yi then brought out his "little treasure," preserved eggs, also known as Songhua eggs, made from duck eggs. He insisted Su Tan'er try them with chili sauce. Though she found the first bite disgusting, she admitted to a subtle fragrance upon reflection, noting the eggs' surprising quality. Ning Yi jokingly warned her not to eat too much, as preserved eggs could make one "dizzy."

Su Tan'er, already feeling the effects of the wine, playfully hit him, accusing him of teasing her by listing ridiculous things to dip the eggs in. As they bantered, Su Tan'er decided to "punish" Ning Yi by demanding he accompany her to the Pu Yuan Poetry Meeting in a few days. He tried to refuse, claiming he wasn't a poet, but she insisted, reminding him that as a married couple, she couldn't go alone.

Ning Yi relented but jokingly demanded payment for his attendance. As they negotiated the price, leaning closer and closer, the atmosphere became increasingly intimate. Suddenly, Ning Yi realized something. The strong, familiar taste of the wine, combined with their rising body heat, struck him. He quickly identified it as the "tiger wine" her mother had given him earlier.

Su Tan'er, realizing the wine's true nature and purpose, immediately chastised Ning Yi, calling him "shameless" and "perverted" for letting her drink such a thing. She desperately cried out for water, while outside, her mother continued to chuckle, delighted by the outcome of her scheme.
