During a night hike, a group of students including Ni Dapeng and Lu Xiaobai were startled by a figure in the dark. It turned out to be Xu Jingjing, whose face was smeared with dark makeup, making her appear ghostly. She explained that she had planned to watch the sunrise with Gao Zhan and wanted to put on makeup for photos.
Kang Jiawei informed her that Gao Zhan had an urgent matter and wouldn't be coming, suggesting he and the others could accompany her instead. Xu Jingjing was visibly disappointed, lamenting that the essence of watching a sunrise isn't the sunrise itself, but the person you watch it with. Despite her initial reluctance, the group, including Ni Dapeng, Wang Jiayao, and Lu Xiaobai, decided to go together.
Xu Jingjing found a small comfort, feeling it was an indirect way of watching the sunrise with Gao Zhan. Later, when Xu Jingjing needed to use the restroom, Lu Xiaobai refused to accompany her out of fear. Gao Zhan stepped up, first checking the restroom to assure her it was safe and then waiting outside for her. To avoid being overheard, Xu Jingjing asked him to cover his ears, which he did, amusingly reciting an ancient text to distract himself.
Afterward, Gao Zhan sincerely apologized to Xu Jingjing, admitting that Kang Jiawei had made him realize his previous actions were wrong. Xu Jingjing also apologized for her anger. Their conversation then shifted to Ni Dapeng’s father; Gao Zhan revealed that Ni Dapeng had shown him chat logs between his father and Gao Zhan’s mother, which made him believe Ni Dapeng's father was serious.
However, Gao Zhan admitted he still needed more time to consider accepting him, while Xu Jingjing encouraged him to face the situation, siding with Ni Dapeng's efforts. The group eventually reached the summit. Amidst the excitement of taking photos, Ni Dapeng offered his jacket to Wang Jiayao, concerned she might be cold, but she playfully returned it after detecting a strange smell. Meanwhile, Jingjing (the cheerleader) realized she was only 600 votes behind first place in a competition.
To help her, Kang Jiawei offered to post her link on a Douban group he moderates. To his astonishment, he discovered that Jingjing was "Give-up Virtuoso," the online friend he had been chatting with all along. When Kang Jiawei asked why he had seen Gao Zhan at the coffee shop during their planned meet-up, Jingjing explained that she had been there but was in the restroom when he arrived, and that Gao Zhan's presence was a coincidence.
As Ni Dapeng told a humorous ghost story, Xu Jingjing and Kang Jiawei exchanged information. Xu Jingjing shared that Gao Zhan had apologized, crediting Kang Jiawei's influence. Kang Jiawei then revealed his discovery about Jingjing's online identity but expressed doubt about her explanation for Gao Zhan's presence at the coffee shop, noting Gao Zhan’s known aversion to coffee. Just then, Ms. Chen and Mr. Zhao arrived, having planned to watch the sunrise themselves.
They were surprised to find the students and initially ordered them back to bed. However, after the students pleaded to stay, the teachers relented on the condition that they each write an essay about the experience. As the sun rose, everyone excitedly captured the moment. Gao Zhan and Xu Jingjing took a photo together, as did Jingjing and Kang Jiawei. Ni Dapeng and Gao Zhan also fully reconciled.
Still suspicious, Kang Jiawei tested his theory by offering Gao Zhan a coffee. Gao Zhan refused, confirming he has a caffeine intolerance and rarely visits coffee shops. This solidified Kang Jiawei’s doubts. Gao Zhan then clarified the real reason he was at the coffee shop that day: Jingjing had asked him to accompany her, as she was meeting a male netizen and feared he might be connected to a past stalker incident. This directly contradicted Jingjing's story.
Elsewhere on the farm, Xu Jingjing was joyfully tending to a hatching chick, even getting permission from the instructor to adopt it. Later, she, Lu Xiaobai, and Wang Jiayao joined Kang Jiawei and Ni Dapeng, who were enjoying roasted potatoes and taro. Kang Jiawei tried again to explain the inconsistencies in Jingjing’s story to Xu Jingjing, but she dismissed his concerns.
A short while later, Xu Jingjing was heartbroken to find her chick's egg broken after checking on it in the rain. She made a small memorial for it and was melancholic for the rest of the trip. Upon returning home, her mother discovered she had a fever. That evening, Gao Zhan asked his mother how she met Ni Dapeng’s father.
She recounted that she was driving to Gao Zhan's parent-teacher meeting when she got a call that the man responsible for his father’s death had been caught. Overwhelmed, she broke down crying in her car, and Ni Dapeng’s father stopped to help her. She told Gao Zhan that while no one could replace his father, she would not consider marrying Ni Dapeng's father unless Gao Zhan truly accepted him, encouraging him to meet with the man as a friend.
The next day, Ms. Chen informed the class that Xu Jingjing was hospitalized with pneumonia. With the final cultural festival approaching, Jingjing (the cheerleader) announced her withdrawal from the cheerleading squad. Having won a short film competition, she now wanted to perform street dance to show her mother her true passion. She arranged to meet Kang Jiawei to discuss combining their dance styles.
In the hospital, Gao Zhan visited a bored Xu Jingjing, bringing notes and promising to tutor her daily. When she expressed sadness about missing the festival, he proposed their Taekwondo club could perform with her, and they could design the routine together. Lu Xiaobai and Wang Jiayao also visited, gossiping about Gao Zhan’s newfound attentiveness. Kang Jiawei arrived at the hospital but stopped when he saw Gao Zhan and Xu Jingjing laughing together.
He quietly left without entering, leaving behind a pear he had brought for her. Later, when Kang Jiawei met with Jingjing at a coffee shop to discuss their performance, he decided to confront her. Pointing out that the shop only sold coffee, he directly questioned her lie, asking why Gao Zhan would have been there when he doesn't drink coffee.
