Following the events of the previous evening where Bo Yan was found intoxicated at Xu Yunchuan's mansion, Xu Yunchuan expressed his disappointment that Bo Yan's divine form had not been revealed. Upon Bo Yan waking, he immediately urged Xu Yunchuan to keep their drinking a secret, to which Xu Yunchuan readily agreed.

Xu Yunchuan then concocted a story about a couple seeking a divorce in the outskirts of Yueyang City, claiming they had been matched by the Top Matchmaker and that their situation contributed to the city's marital unrest. Despite Bo Yan's initial reluctance, Xu Yunchuan persuaded him to come along. Bo Yan, however, sensed Xu Yunchuan's strange behavior, questioning if he had been deliberately intoxicated and detained.

Xu Yunchuan scoffed at the accusation, asking what he would gain from such a scheme. Xu Yunchuan's servant, Ah Xi, feigned being lost and led them into a forest where a group of black-clad men lay in wait. The plan was for the men to identify Xu Yunchuan by his fan, demand money, and force his companion, Bo Yan, to fight. However, the scheme went awry when Xu Yunchuan kindly gave his fan to Bo Yan due to the heat.

The attackers correctly demanded money from the new fan-holder, Bo Yan, but when Xu Yunchuan stepped in, they mistakenly attacked him. Bo Yan effortlessly dispatched the attackers. As a sword flew menacingly towards Xu Yunchuan, Bo Yan swiftly intervened, using his divine powers to save him. Xu Yunchuan, astonished, demanded to know Bo Yan's true identity.

Bo Yan then confirmed that Tong'er had already revealed his divine nature to Xu Yunchuan, pleading with him to keep this secret from Shangguan Ya. Later, Li Fu and Bo Yan shared a somber drink, commiserating over the forbidden nature of love between gods and mortals, acknowledging that such unions always end tragically due to strict heavenly rules. Meanwhile, Shangguan Ya met with Xu Yunchuan and confessed her burgeoning feelings for Bo Yan, whom she knew as Chu Ye.

She clarified that while she appreciated Xu Yunchuan saving her in the past, her feelings for him were purely platonic, a friendship developed over a lifetime. Xu Yunchuan, recognizing the impossibility of her love with Bo Yan due to his divine identity, anxiously tried to deter her, but Shangguan Ya remained resolute. Despite his anxieties, Xu Yunchuan upheld his promise not to reveal Bo Yan's true identity.

Shangguan Ya then produced a circular stone pendant, intending to return it to Xu Yunchuan, believing he was her savior and had given it to her. However, Xu Yunchuan did not recognize the pendant, explaining that she was already wearing it when he found her unconscious. This revelation deeply confused Shangguan Ya, making her question who her true savior was. While Bo Yan silently reveled in Shangguan Ya's heartfelt confession, a jealous Tong'er, who was with him, became enraged.

She forcefully embraced Bo Yan, but he coldly pushed her away, explicitly stating that he had never loved her and never would, telling her to give up. Shangguan Ya, witnessing this painful rejection, was heartbroken. Further enraged, Tong'er used her powers to secretly steal the protective stone pendant from Shangguan Ya's neck. The following morning, Hongdou discovered Shangguan Ya lying on the floor, deathly pale and unconscious.

Li Fu, arriving on the scene, immediately recognized the ominous signs of a soul departure. He quickly drew Bo Yan aside, explaining that Shangguan Ya's soul appeared to have vanished entirely from the three realms, a baffling occurrence as even a deity like Bo Yan should have sensed such an event. Xu Yunchuan, suspecting Tong'er, confronted her, but she vehemently denied any involvement. Li Fu, while acknowledging Tong'er's capricious nature, supported her, stating she wasn't truly malicious.

He then departed for the Nine Heavens to procure an elixir. While Shangguan Ya's family sought help from mortal doctors, Bo Yan privately poured out his heart to the unconscious Shangguan Ya, vowing to pay any price for her recovery. Li Fu soon returned from the Nine Heavens with a celestial elixir, but its effect was limited; it could only keep Shangguan Ya alive, not restore her soul, making her a living dead.

Xu Yunchuan, frustrated and desperate, confronted Bo Yan, stating that Bo Yan's divine presence had only brought harm to Shangguan Ya, especially with Tong'er's relentless pursuit. He argued that Bo Yan, aware of the perils of a deity-mortal romance, was incapable of protecting Shangguan Ya and should leave her. While Bo Yan promised to solve the issue with Tong'er, his priority was saving Shangguan Ya.

Li Fu then revealed that the only true cure was the Soul Flower, found in the mythical Secret Realm. Tong'er, overhearing, claimed to know its location but imposed a condition: after retrieving the flower, Bo Yan must spend seven days alone with her. After confirming once more that Tong'er denied harming Shangguan Ya, Bo Yan reluctantly agreed to the bargain to save Shangguan Ya's life. Tong'er then provided him with a means to reach the Secret Realm.

Following Tong'er's instructions, Bo Yan journeyed through dense cloud-shrouded mists to reach the Secret Realm. Inside, he found himself in an illusion, a vivid recreation of the Top Matchmaker, where Shangguan Ya greeted him warmly. She described a peaceful future together, away from worldly concerns. Bo Yan, though wishing it were real, recognized the illusion.

When she spoke of a future that ignored her promise to her mother, he gently broke the enchantment, revealing that his heart belonged to Shangguan Ya, but not the illusory one. Confronted by a Tree Fairy, Bo Yan learned that the Soul Tree, which bore the vital Soul Flower, would not bloom for another thousand years. Desperate, he was told there was one alternative: to sacrifice his own cultivation and soul to the tree to force an early bloom.

Without hesitation, Bo Yan subjected himself to the painful lashes of the Soul Tree's vines, pouring all his divine power into it. The Tree Fairy questioned if a mere mortal was worth such a sacrifice, but Bo Yan declared his unwavering love, asserting that for the woman he loved, everything was worth it. Through this ordeal, the once proud God Yan'guang, who had scorned the three realms, finally comprehended the profound truth of "all beings are equal in love."
