Love is Deep Episode 5 Recap
> Love is Deep Recap
Zheng Dingding’s parents prepared to leave, and her mother affectionately reminded her to cherish Ning Weijing. She told Dingding that she was the one who loved her the most, followed by her father. If there was a man whose love for Dingding could surpass her father's, that would make her truly happy. She wished for Dingding’s happiness. As Dingding tidied her room, she discovered a note from her father.
Knowing she had little savings and urgently needed money to open her studio, he had secretly left her a bank card. Moved to tears, Dingding realized that Chen Xun could never compare to her father's selfless love. Upon returning home, Ning Weixuan immediately questioned Ning Weijing about his whereabouts. He calmly informed her that he had dinner at Zheng Dingding’s house and even met her parents.
Ning Weixuan instantly became excited, playfully wondering how her “insulator of love” brother had progressed to meeting parents. Alone in his room, Ning Weijing picked up a cat plush toy and considered telling Zheng Dingding about their past connection, remembering how she had helped him during a difficult time. Later, Zheng Dingding helped Ning Weixuan prepare items for the cafe. Ning Weixuan casually chatted, urging Dingding to give her brother a chance.
Dingding expressed skepticism about Ning Weijing never having been in a relationship, given his excellent qualities. Ning Weixuan assured her that many girls had pursued him over the years, but he had shown no interest. She revealed that Shu Yiran, Ning Weijing’s college classmate, was particularly persistent. However, Shu Yiran viewed everyone except Ning Weijing as "retarded morons," often criticizing Ning Weixuan herself, which made Ning Weixuan dislike her.
During their conversation, Zheng Dingding received a message from a client interested in a large order, requesting a meeting in two hours. Zheng Dingding rushed to the badminton court for the meeting, only to discover the client was Wen Zixin. Despite Dingding's protestations about having just had surgery and being unable to exercise, Wen Zixin insisted they play a few rounds. Dingding reluctantly agreed, but soon the pain forced her to drop her racket.
Wen Zixin apologized, feigning concern, but then declared her intention to reunite with Chen Xun. She told Dingding that Chen Xun’s current hesitation was merely due to guilt and dependency, which would fade with time. Dingding, though she had moved on from Chen Xun, refused to let Wen Zixin hurt him again, recalling his suffering after their previous breakup.
Wen Zixin countered by bringing up a past incident involving a child, subtly implying that Chen Xun would always prioritize her due to their shared history, asserting that her reunion with Chen Xun was inevitable. With her wound reopened from playing badminton, Zheng Dingding went to the hospital to see Ning Weijing. He sternly rebuked her for neglecting her health for any reason, but his words, though harsh, conveyed genuine warmth and concern.
Later, Ning Weijing accompanied Dingding to dinner, where Ning Weixuan had arranged a meal with Gao Ren and Shu Yiran. Ning Weijing was meticulous about Dingding’s diet, serving her only vegetables, a gesture Shu Yiran found unusually attentive. Ning Weixuan provocatively suggested this was destiny between Dingding and Ning Weijing, noting that some people, despite knowing each other for years, never spark a connection, visibly irritating Shu Yiran.
Ning Weixuan then announced the real reason for the dinner: to borrow money for the cafe's renovation, as Ning Weijing had already paid the rent. She turned to Gao Ren, who, despite his mock complaints, always indulged Ning Weixuan’s requests. As Ning Weijing walked Zheng Dingding home, she recounted her relationship with Chen Xun. She met him in her freshman year when he was the student union president and basketball team captain.
In her sophomore year, after much hesitation and even drinking beer for courage, she prepared to confess, only to see him appear hand-in-hand with Wen Zixin. Later, when Wen Zixin left Chen Xun, he was at his lowest. Dingding remembered Xiao Feng joking that it was "her turn" now, but Dingding didn't want to be "next in line."
She described a small incident where Chen Xun helped her pick up fallen shopping bags while she was burdened with many, making her feel safe enough to finally confess. Ning Weijing listened, then concluded that Chen Xun didn’t deserve her, remarking that a man shouldn’t let a woman carry so many things while shopping. Dingding, however, felt she didn't deserve Chen Xun. She lamented that despite her efforts, Chen Xun's heart seemed to be drawn back to Wen Zixin.
Although she thought she had moved on, Wen Zixin's declaration of wanting Chen Xun back had reignited her distress. Ning Weijing, observing Dingding's deep feelings for Chen Xun, advised her to talk to him directly. Meanwhile, Gao Ren drove Shu Yiran home and urged her to confess her feelings to Ning Weijing. Shu Yiran believed confessions should come from men and she couldn't bring herself to do it.
Gao Ren revealed that he had originally tried to pursue Shu Yiran but used Ning Weijing as a decoy, offering strategies to help Shu Yiran win Ning Weijing. To his surprise, Shu Yiran, like Ning Weijing, proved to be single-minded, remaining persistent for over a decade, resulting in their trio acting more like brothers than potential lovers. Zheng Dingding called Chen Xun to talk, but Wen Zixin’s sudden scream interrupted the call.
Chen Xun quickly hung up to attend to Wen Zixin, whose mother had suffered a sudden heart attack. Chen Xun drove Wen Zixin back to her hometown to see her mother. After ensuring her mother’s condition was stable, Wen Zixin asked Chen Xun to stay with her for a few days, and he agreed. Shu Yiran asked Gao Ren to find out about Ning Weijing’s relationship with Zheng Dingding.
Ning Weijing had earlier confided in Gao Ren about meeting Dingding twelve years ago, insisting he only wanted to repay her kindness, not pursue a romantic relationship. Gao Ren, however, recognized Ning Weijing’s growing affection for Dingding. Ning Weijing swore Gao Ren to secrecy. Thus, when Gao Ren reported back to Shu Yiran, he merely stated that Ning Weixuan and Dingding had become close friends through shopping, and that was how Ning Weijing knew Dingding.
Zheng Dingding created numerous handcrafted decorations for Ning Weixuan's cafe, saving her a significant amount of money. Ning Weixuan, delighted by Dingding’s talent, went to buy ingredients, intending to personally cook a meal for her. Ning Weijing and Ning Weixuan arrived at the cafe around the same time, but the door was broken. Ning Weixuan was locked outside, while Ning Weijing and Dingding were trapped inside. Dingding urged Ning Weixuan to find a locksmith.
Seeing the two alone, Ning Weixuan considered it a "heaven-sent opportunity." She intentionally claimed there were no locksmiths nearby and decided to search further away, prolonging their isolation. Ning Weijing helped Zheng Dingding with the intricate handiwork, proving that a doctor's precision was well-suited for such tasks. They worked until it was dark, and Ning Weixuan still hadn't returned. Suddenly, the power went out, causing Dingding to tremble with fear.
Ning Weijing recalled a scene from the romance novel his sister had given him the previous day. Although he had initially dismissed such plotlines as foolish, he now found himself wanting to try it. He lit candles and offered Dingding a cake with grape juice. She noted it tasted strangely like wine, but he explained it was simply juice, as he couldn't drink alcohol before an upcoming surgery.
He then leaned in, seemingly about to kiss her, but became flustered and went to the restroom. Ning Weixuan, watching from outside, chuckled, having done all she could, leaving the rest to her brother. As the night wore on, Dingding started to feel dizzy from the grape juice and got sleepy. Ning Weijing gently told her to lie down, promising to break the glass if Ning Weixuan wasn't back by morning.
