Chen Xun and Cat were driving back after buying an engagement ring for Wen Zixin when the ropes on a truck carrying steel plates in front of them suddenly broke. The plates slid off, falling onto their car. Chen Xun quickly swerved to protect Cat, who sustained only minor scratches. Chen Xun, however, was critically injured and rendered unconscious, immediately rushed into surgery. Cat was overwhelmed with guilt.

Ning Weijin, present at the hospital, comforted Cat, assuring him the doctors would do everything they could for Chen Xun. The police located the responsible party and asked Cat to assist with the investigation. Cat was reluctant to leave Chen Xun's side, but Dingding persuaded him, explaining that helping the police understand the accident was important for Chen Xun's sake, and she would stay to look after him. Reassured, Cat left for the police station.

Dingding then tried to contact Wen Zixin, but her phone was unreachable because she was in a remote mountainous area filming a reality show. Dingding remained outside the emergency room, anxiously awaiting news. Ning Weijin came to check on Chen Xun, reporting that he was still in critical condition and not out of danger. He offered Dingding his office to rest while he accompanied Ning Weixuan for her preoperative examination, but Dingding insisted on staying.

The rescue efforts lasted until 10 PM, when a doctor finally informed Dingding that Chen Xun's vital signs were stable, but he would need to remain in the Intensive Care Unit for observation. The doctor couldn't predict when Chen Xun would regain consciousness, citing the severity of his injuries. As family members weren't allowed inside the ICU, Ning Weijin suggested Dingding rest in his on-call room for the night, since he was on night duty.

After completing her preoperative examinations, Ning Weixuan was admitted to the hospital to await surgery. Gao Ren set up a cot beside her bed, determined to stay with her and keep her company. He pledged his unwavering devotion, declaring that he wouldn't care for anyone but her from now on. Ning Weixuan, touched by his sincerity, playfully asked him to cut an orange for her. Gao Ren was assigned to work under Dr. Xiang, starting with simpler cases.

He was puzzled why Dr. Xiang seemed to be helping him rather than retaliating. Gao Ren confronted Dr. Xiang, proudly stating that Ning Weixuan was now his and Dr. Xiang couldn't take her away. Dr. Xiang found Gao Ren's behavior childish, explaining that he had earnestly pursued Ning Weixuan, but she didn't reciprocate his feelings, so maintaining their friendship was preferable.

He emphasized that he was helping Ning Weixuan, not Gao Ren, and that not all relationships between men and women had to be romantic. Gao Ren, unconvinced, insisted that Ning Weixuan belonged to him and that he would not give her up. After spending the night in Ning Weijin's on-call room, Dingding immediately went back to the ICU the next morning.

Chen Xun was still unconscious, and Dingding, overwhelmed and anxious by this unfamiliar crisis involving someone she knew, desperately wanted to help but didn't know how. A nurse informed her that only family members could enter the ICU, and that Chen Xun’s family couldn’t be reached. Ning Weijin reassured her that the doctors had done everything possible, and Chen Xun's recovery now depended on his own will.

He insisted they get something to eat, telling her she was too nervous and neglecting herself, making him worry. Dingding received a call from her mother, inviting her to dinner with both sets of parents to discuss her and Ning Weijin's wedding. Dingding declined, explaining she needed to stay at the hospital to care for the unconscious Chen Xun, whose family was unavailable.

Ning Weijin was visibly upset, as it was their wedding being discussed, yet Dingding was prioritizing her ex-boyfriend. He expressed his concern that she constantly became overwhelmed and highly stressed by others' problems. Dingding, hoping to appease him, promised to leave Chen Xun's side once Cat returned. Noticing Dingding's persistent cough and a sore throat, Ning Weijin grew even more frustrated.

He insisted she immediately call Cat and demand that someone from Chen Xun's company take over his care, arguing that with so many employees, someone must be available. Dingding, feeling unwell, agreed to call. A month after Wang Minying gave birth, her follow-up physical examination revealed that her cancer had metastasized.

Her husband, furious, confronted Ning Weijin, blaming him because the initial treatment plan, developed by Ning Weijin and Shu Yiran, had aimed to save both mother and child, despite his wish to only save the mother. He asserted that Wang Minying was discharged with no issues, yet now her cancer had spread. He demanded Ning Weijin be held responsible and fired. Ning Weijin was taken aback by this development.

The Director intervened, confirming that he had approved the original treatment plan and that Wang Minying's discharge tests were clear. He asked about her medication adherence, to which her husband insisted she followed instructions. The Director proposed hospitalizing Wang Minying immediately for detailed tests to find the cause of the metastasis and formulate a new treatment plan, emphasizing that while the cancer had spread, it was not uncontrollable.

However, her husband refused to let Ning Weijin treat her and insisted on his immediate dismissal. Ning Weijin stated he would accept punishment if it was truly his fault. The Director eventually persuaded Wang Minying's husband to allow the hospital three days to investigate the cause of the cancer spread and provide a satisfactory answer, with other doctors taking over her immediate care.

Meanwhile, Dr. Xiang assigned Gao Ren to perform a breast augmentation surgery, which Gao Ren accepted, keen to regain his surgical skills before Ning Weixuan's upcoming operation. Dr. Xiang advised him to communicate thoroughly with the patient who would arrive that afternoon. Cat rushed to the hospital after being called, but his phone was constantly ringing with urgent company matters.

Seeing Chen Xun's condition unchanged, Cat pleaded with Dingding to continue caring for Chen Xun for a few more days, then left in a hurry before she could respond. Ning Weijin went to the dinner with both sets of parents alone, explaining Dingding's absence. Though the parents were understanding and agreed to reschedule discussions about the wedding, Ning Weijin felt deeply unsettled.

He confessed to Gao Ren that he had underestimated Chen Xun's significance in Dingding's heart, feeling jealous and unsure of her feelings after her constant presence at Chen Xun's bedside. Gao Ren suggested that perhaps Dingding's comfort in caring for Chen Xun stemmed from her profound trust in Ning Weijin, confident that he wouldn't doubt her. While Ning Weijin wished this were true, his discomfort lingered. Ning Weijin discovered Dingding had a high fever.

He brought her chicken soup, chiding her for overworking and neglecting her own health while diligently caring for others. Dingding, feeling touched, affectionately hugged him, remarking that he was acting like her mother. Ning Weijin admitted the soup was made by Gao Ren, leading Dingding to tease him for presenting a "borrowed gift."

Wen Zixin called Dingding back, explaining that she was in a remote area filming a reality show and couldn't get a flight back yet, despite the production team's efforts. She tearfully pleaded with Dingding to continue caring for Chen Xun for a few more days, stating Dingding was the only one she could trust. Dingding reluctantly agreed, urging her to return as soon as possible.

Ning Weijin informed Dingding that Chen Xun had been transferred to a regular ward, and he had hired professional care workers to look after him, encouraging Dingding to go home and rest while she was sick. However, Dingding insisted on staying until Chen Xun woke up, not wanting him to find himself alone without anyone familiar around. Ning Weijin, unable to convince her, reluctantly consented and left. While Wang Minying was hospitalized for further examination, her husband's anger remained high.

To prevent further conflict before the test results were in, the Director advised Ning Weijin to take some time off from work. Ning Weijin was reluctant to do so, preferring to continue assisting from the hospital. Meanwhile, Shu Yiran visited Ning Weixuan in her hospital room. Ning Weixuan revealed that she still didn't want Dingding to know about her illness, as Dingding already had much to worry about with Chen Xun.

Ning Weixuan also confirmed to Shu Yiran that Gao Ren had started performing surgeries again, aiming to get back into top form before Ning Weixuan's own operation. Dingding visited Ning Weixuan in her room, who expressed concern for Ning Weijin's feelings. Ning Weixuan pointed out that with their wedding approaching, Dingding's devoted care for another man would naturally make her fiancé uncomfortable.

Dingding acknowledged her lapse, admitting she felt bad for Ning Weijin, but reiterated that Chen Xun had no one else until Wen Zixin returned. Later, Dingding fell asleep on Ning Weixuan's hospital bed, exhausted. Ning Weijin came to check on her, and when Baicha's assistant called, he answered, learning that Dingding's designed merchandise was about to launch. Upon waking, Dingding was overjoyed by the news. Shortly after, Chen Xun's doctor called, informing Ning Weijin that Chen Xun had regained consciousness.

Ning Weijin told Dingding the news and urged her to finish her meal, but Dingding rushed to Chen Xun's bedside. Chen Xun, suffering from amnesia due to severe head trauma, recognized no one, although he kept mentioning a "wedding ring." As Dingding repeatedly called his name, Chen Xun looked at her for a long moment before finally remembering her, calling out "Dingding."

Wang Minying's examination report was released, showing that her body contained unknown components in addition to the prescribed medication, suggesting a deviation from medical instructions. Her husband was enraged, accusing Ning Weijin of trying to evade responsibility and demanding his immediate dismissal.

Despite the Director's persistent efforts to mediate, arguing that Ning Weijin's deep understanding of Wang Minying's complex condition made his removal detrimental to her treatment, the husband remained adamant about wanting Ning Weijin fired and refused to see him. Ning Weijin, while understanding the emotional distress, maintained his professional stance, stating he would not avoid the hospital and would continue to develop treatment plans for Wang Minying's current doctors.

The Director eventually agreed to allow other doctors to treat Wang Minying temporarily. Meanwhile, nurses around Chen Xun's bed, mistaking Dingding for his family, discussed Ning Weijin's troubles, revealing that a patient's family was causing a scene and demanding his dismissal. Dingding then realized why Ning Weijin had seemed preoccupied and uneasy these past few days, regretting that she had been too focused on Chen Xun to notice or offer support.

A nurse approached Dingding, reminding her it was time for Chen Xun's physical examinations, and Dingding promptly took him. Later, a junior doctor reiterated support for Ning Weijin regarding Wang Minying's case, assuring him he was not at fault.
