Su Jianan began her treatment for Lu Boyan's fear of darkness by blindfolding him. The immediate onset of darkness caused Lu Boyan to tense up, grabbing at whatever he could reach. He struggled to breathe, ultimately tearing off the blindfold and gasping for air, admitting he couldn't stand it. Unfazed, Su Jianan calmly reassured him, "I will always be by your side." She then put the blindfold back on him.
She playfully guided him in the dark, asking him to follow her voice, moving around him and asking "Do you know where I am?" Lu Boyan, hearing her voice and occasional light touches, followed her until he finally embraced her. Su Jianan then rewarded him with a kiss, affirming his progress. The following day, Lu Boyan returned home to find Su Jianan arranging candles. He commented on the romantic atmosphere, asking what new tricks she had planned.
Su Jianan revealed her plan to turn off all the lights in the villa, leaving only a few candles as the light source, as a further step in his therapy. Lu Boyan initially expressed hesitation, noting that many psychologists had failed to help him. Su Jianan challenged him, asking if he was shrinking back and stating that it wasn't the Lu Boyan she knew.
Taking the bait, Lu Boyan agreed when she provocatively asked, "This gentleman, can I invite you to dance?" As the darkness enveloped them, more intensely than before, Lu Boyan tensed again, his expression momentarily blank with fear. But Su Jianan gently guided his hands to her waist, placing her own hands on his neck.
He clearly felt her presence, and the fear began to recede as they swayed together in the soft glow of the candles, Su Jianan reassuring him, "Don't be afraid that I am by your side. Look at me, Bo Yan." They gazed into each other's eyes, and everything seemed beautiful. With his mental state visibly improving after the initial sessions, Su Jianan informed Lu Boyan that it was time for the "ultimate treatment" in a cold, empty underground parking lot.
She encouraged him to have confidence, which he readily affirmed. As she prepared to turn off the lights, Lu Boyan, sensing the finality of the challenge, pleaded "Don't leave." Su Jianan reassured him, "You don't have to worry, I will always be with you," before plunging the garage into complete darkness. Lu Boyan, overwhelmed, cried out for Jian'an, then for help, feeling bound and abandoned, as if reliving the childhood memory of being tied up in a small dark room.
Su Jianan's calm voice guided him: "Bo Yan, listen to me. There is no rope at all. You are free. Nothing can restrain you. Trapped you, only your heart. I believe you can defeat it. Because in my heart, you have been the strongest since you were young. The bravest person."
She reminded him that the "little black house" of his past no longer existed and urged him to follow her voice, to trust himself, and to face his fears bravely, just as he had taught her. He eventually followed her voice and found the door, opening it to embrace her and the welcome light. Triumphant, he declared, "I got you!" Su Jianan affirmed his success, saying, "You made it."
The next morning, Shen Yuechuan greeted Lu Boyan, observing his good mood and attributing it to Su Jianan. Lu Boyan questioned his informal address of "Miss Su," prompting Shen Yuechuan to clarify that he refers to her as "Mrs. Lu" externally and "sister-in-law" internally. Shen Yuechuan then inquired about Lu Boyan's plans for his upcoming birthday. Lu Boyan stated he didn't want to celebrate and instead wished to visit his father's grave that afternoon.
Later, Shen Yuechuan consulted with Su Jianan, explaining that while Lu Boyan had overcome his fear of darkness, his father's death falling on his birthday still had a significant psychological impact. Shen Yuechuan suggested a birthday party, but Su Jianan disagreed, stating that such psychological treatment couldn't be forced and she needed to find another way. Shen Yuechuan offered his full support for any instructions she might have.
Shen Yuechuan called Luo Xiaoxi, inviting her to dinner at a new restaurant. Separately, Su Jianan arranged to meet Luo Xiaoxi at her home, mentioning she had something important to discuss. Jiang Shaokai, overhearing, insisted on joining, comically stating he was also "their sister," before Luo Xiaoxi pulled him away.
During their meeting, Su Jianan confided in Luo Xiaoxi and Jiang Shaokai about Lu Boyan's traumatic past, expressing her wish to give him a perfect birthday so that future birthdays would be filled with happy memories rather than just the sorrow of his father's death. Jiang Shaokai noted the difficulty of finding a gift for someone who seemingly had everything. Su Jianan then revealed her special gift idea: "I want to give myself to him."
After a meeting, as Lu Boyan was preparing to leave his office, he noticed a large, half-person tall gift box. Unaware of its origin and believing it wasn't his, he instructed Shen Yuechuan not to send such unknown items to his office again and to have the cleaning staff dispose of it immediately. Upon arriving home, he was greeted by Luo Xiaoxi and Jiang Shaokai, who cheerfully announced they were there to celebrate his birthday.
However, Su Jianan was nowhere to be found, and her phone was nearby. This, coupled with the mention of a gift in a box, made Lu Boyan connect her absence with the mysterious package he had dismissed earlier. He immediately called Shen Yuechuan, frantically asking about the box from his office.
Shen Yuechuan confirmed he had asked the cleaner to handle it, and upon checking, informed Lu Boyan that it had been sent to the waste station in the south of the city. Frantic, Lu Boyan rushed to the waste station, calling out for Jian'an. An old man working there commented on the difficulty of finding lost things once they were gone.
When Lu Boyan described a pink box, the old man confirmed he hadn't seen it, adding that all of the day's waste had already been thrown into the incinerator. Lu Boyan, distraught, then spotted Su Jianan appearing from behind him, disheveled and covered in dirt. Relieved but also angry, he pulled her into a tight embrace, exclaiming, "Where did you run off to? You scared me to death!" Su Jianan affirmed she was fine and apologized for worrying them.
Jiang Shaokai and Luo Xiaoxi, also relieved, urged her to clean up, noting her "flower cat" appearance. Su Jianan then suggested they postpone their gathering, but Luo Xiaoxi insisted they leave to give Lu Boyan and Su Jianan privacy, quipping, "I won't bother you two." Lu Boyan then led Su Jianan inside the Lu family villa.
Inside the Lu family villa, after Su Jianan had cleaned up, Lu Boyan gently admonished her for the scare she caused, asking her never to do such a thing again. Su Jianan then proposed they celebrate his birthday, hoping that future birthdays would evoke joyful memories rather than just sadness. Lu Boyan agreed, instructing her to wait while he prepared something. He brought a birthday cake, and together they sang "Happy Birthday."
After he made a wish and blew out the candles, Lu Boyan eagerly asked for his present. Su Jianan replied, "Wait a minute," then surprisingly asked, "Can you turn off the light?" Lu Boyan questioned if she was truly okay with it, and she confidently affirmed, "I can do it." The next morning, Lu Boyan commented on her early awakening, teasing that she wasn't tired enough from the previous night.
Su Jianan playfully retorted, calling him "stinky radish" and accusing him of trying to overwork her by suggesting she make breakfast. As Lu Boyan prepared to leave for a meeting, he offered his services as a "creative consultant" if she ever needed inspiration, acknowledging her own busy schedule. Emerging from the Lu family villa, Jiang Shaokai and Luo Xiaoxi took a walk by the river.
Jiang Shaokai pointed out the paired stars and couples, then declared to Luo Xiaoxi that he no longer wanted to be just her friend, expressing his desire for her to be his girlfriend. He admitted that despite her overbearing and unreasonable nature, and her habit of twisting his ears, her image had been lingering in his mind since a particular night. Luo Xiaoxi, demanding a clear answer, warned him to stop playing hard to get.
Jiang Shaokai, in a grand gesture, tried to explain his sincerity, but Luo Xiaoxi cut him off, calling his words "Grandiose." She then gave him three conditions to consider, stating that if he fulfilled them, she might consider his proposal. Jiang Shaokai, ready to list his material possessions, was quickly dismissed by Luo Xiaoxi as "vulgar," who said she had sent the conditions to him, telling him to consider them carefully before contacting her. The next day, Luo Xiaoxi was on the phone, confirming that preparations were complete and she was awaiting someone's witness.
