Jian Dan arrived at the library early, holding a specific book, "Mathematician and Martyr, Hypatia," and waited for her pen pal. However, after over an hour, the person did not appear. Gu Entong also came to the library and immediately saw Jian Dan with the book, realizing that Jian Dan must be the pen pal Han Yansheng was supposed to meet.
When her pen pal failed to show, Jian Dan wrote her contact information on a note, tucked it inside the book, and returned it to its shelf. After Jian Dan left, Gu Entong quickly retrieved the book, took out Jian Dan’s note, and then enthusiastically recommended the book to a math student, who subsequently borrowed it.
Meanwhile, Han Yansheng received a phone call from a stranger stating that "his girlfriend’s" phone had been left behind and asked him to pick it up at a pizza place on Yaohang Street. Han Yansheng was surprised to hear himself referred to as her boyfriend but agreed to go. Upon his arrival, the person who found the phone questioned why he wasn't the "tall, handsome guy" who had been with the phone's owner earlier, implying they looked like a couple.
Han Yansheng insisted his friend didn't have a boyfriend, but the finder, convinced they were a couple, gave him the phone to return to her. Taking Jian Dan’s phone, Han Yansheng noticed it lacked a password, finding her very careless. He scrolled through her contacts, which only included "Grandma," "Mi Fen," and "Landlubber." Curiosity piqued, he clicked "Landlubber" and discovered it was his own phone number, which greatly annoyed him.
When Han Yansheng returned to the library, his pen pal was gone, and the "Hypatia" book was missing. The librarian confirmed that a male student had borrowed it, leading to Han Yansheng's disappointment. Later, Han Yansheng brought Jian Dan her phone. Jian Dan was puzzled by how her phone ended up with him, while Han Yansheng was irritated, believing she had been on a date and carelessly forgotten her phone.
He had set a password for it, giving her the hint: "Curly-haired Girl." Jian Dan couldn't unlock it until Mi Fen helped her decipher the clue, reminding her of the time Jian Dan, with her distinct hairstyle, was featured in the university news for saving the Swimming Club president. Jian Dan realized the password was the date of that incident, deducing that Han Yansheng had set it as a form of payback for her "Landlubber" nickname for him.
With her phone unlocked, Jian Dan began preparing for the upcoming Singles' Day sales, having created a spreadsheet with formulas to find the most cost-effective shopping methods. The Swimming Club organized a special Singles' Day activity where single students would write a wish on a card for another participant to draw and fulfill. Jian Dan's wish was to find her pen pal.
Han Yansheng initially dismissed the activity as meaningless, but when Monkey, the organizer, mentioned that Jian Dan was participating, he reluctantly joined, stating his wish was to "solve this math problem." Gu Entong, who hoped to fulfill Han Yansheng's wish, recoiled when she saw the challenging math problem and refused it after Monkey, who had drawn the card, offered it to her. Stuck with the difficult wish, Monkey then asked Jian Dan to help him solve the math problem.
Separately, Yuan Sen noticed Mi Fen selling her figurines and asked if she was short on money. Mi Fen explained she was saving to buy his new merchandise. Yuan Sen offered to send her several sets when they were released, making Mi Fen very happy. She then reminded him of his earlier promise to grant her a wish, asking for them to be friends.
Seeing his hesitation, she quickly assured him that even if they couldn't be friends, she would still help him however she could. Yuan Sen then agreed, accepting her offer of friendship. Later, Yuan Sen drew Mi Fen's wish card and approached her, offering to help fulfill it. Mi Fen was so overjoyed that she couldn't even recall what she had wished for. Meanwhile, Han Yansheng, holding Jian Dan’s wish card to "meet my math pen pal," arrived at the library.
He found Jian Dan engrossed in solving a math problem. He felt a mix of surprise and happiness, finally realizing that Jian Dan was the pen pal he had been searching for.
