Love Formula Episode 3 Recap
> Love Formula Recap
Han Yansheng arrived at the concert hall with a ticket found in his office, only to find Jian Dan seated right beside him. This strengthened his belief that she was responsible for breaking his trophy. Jian Dan, equally puzzled by his presence, found his "attitude" irritating and prepared to leave. However, with the performance already underway, Han Yansheng pulled her back, explaining that leaving would disturb others and disrespect the musicians.
Exhausted from being constantly ordered around by Han Yansheng, Jian Dan, who disliked classical music, soon fell asleep, her head resting on his shoulder. Han Yansheng, though awkward, allowed her to sleep. After the concert, he even asked the cleaning staff to delay their work so she could rest longer. Upon waking, Jian Dan felt embarrassed. She found the last available shared bike and, seeing Han Yansheng walking, offered him a ride out of kindness.
Han Yansheng, however, criticized her for sleeping during such a "classy" event, calling it "a waste of something so precious." Jian Dan retorted that his constant demands were the cause of her exhaustion and questioned why he hadn't woken her. Despite his initial reluctance, Han Yansheng eventually accepted the ride. Jian Dan rode incredibly fast, startling him. He warned her not to mention their shared ride to anyone at school.
Arriving at the campus gate, Han Yansheng reiterated his conviction that she broke his trophy, citing the ticket found next to it and their seating arrangement. Jian Dan vehemently denied it, stating she would never use her scholarship for such "dumb" acts or buy a ticket for someone "arrogant, smug, and self-obsessed." He challenged her to quit the Swimming Club if she disliked him so much. She furiously accepted and declared she would.
Furious, Jian Dan returned to her dorm and confronted Yue Tangtang. She accused Yue Tangtang of framing her: "You broke Han Yansheng's trophy when you tried to give him the ticket. You were scared he'd find out, so you skipped the concert. Then you gave the ticket to me, so I'd take the fall. Am I right?" Yue Tangtang feigned ignorance and demanded proof.
Jian Dan countered that the ticket Han Yansheng possessed was evidence, and both she and Han Yansheng were convinced of Yue Tangtang's guilt. Jian Dan further accused Yue Tangtang of swapping her apology letter for Han Yansheng's meme. When Yue Tangtang denied it, Jian Dan pointed out that only Mi Fen, Yue Tangtang, and she were in the dorm that day, and threatened to inquire at the photo print shops on campus.
With her lies exposed, Yue Tangtang confessed to everything, blaming Jian Dan for her departure from the Swimming Club and calling her a "pest." Jian Dan, letting past grievances slide, warned Yue Tangtang that any future trouble would be met with severe consequences. Jian Dan informed Mi Fen that she would no longer be going to the swimming pool. Needing to call her grandmother but with her phone broken, Jian Dan went to the library to use a public phone.
To reassure her grandmother, she falsely claimed her phone was merely off due to a bad dorm signal and boasted about being the fastest girl in the Swimming Club, well-liked by everyone. Meanwhile, Han Yansheng, having seen her using the library's public phone, obtained Yue Tangtang's phone number and called her, demanding to speak to Jian Dan. He then instructed Jian Dan to write a 3,000-word Club Withdrawal Application. Jian Dan was outraged, calling his demand insane.
She completed the lengthy application, only for Han Yansheng to dismiss it as "not good enough" without reading it, insisting she rewrite it to officially withdraw from the club. Jian Dan reaffirmed her decision to never return. Han Yansheng stopped her and presented her with a new phone, which he had made to look old, explaining it was to replace the one he broke. Jian Dan initially declined but accepted it, promising to repay him eventually.
She later returned to the library, where she found another challenging math problem in the "Hypatia" book and began to solve it. Han Yansheng, also at the library, was delighted to discover the solution to his latest problem within the book. Thus, they continued their anonymous intellectual exchange, communicating through the math puzzles in the "Hypatia" book, each unaware of the other's identity. As elective registration began, Mi Fen chose "Film Appreciation" for its ease and lack of exams.
Jian Dan, however, chose "Applied Math." Mi Fen warned her about Professor Wang, the notorious "nightmare" instructor for the course, known for his high failure rate. She recounted an exaggerated story of him making the course even harder after being questioned by the dean, resulting in a mere 10% passing rate. Unbeknownst to them, Professor Wang himself overheard their conversation.
He corrected them, stating the actual passing rate was even lower, at 5%, with only three out of sixty-one students passing. Mi Fen was terrified, but Jian Dan remained unfazed, simply noting that a 5% chance was still a chance. Jian Dan then received a university notification stating that the points awarded for club participation had been significantly increased, impacting her scholarship eligibility.
Worried, as she had just quit the Swimming Club, Mi Fen suggested forming a new club, citing her Cosplay Club as an example of a newly formed group. This sparked an idea in Jian Dan to revive the Rock Climbing Club. She applied to the student union, only to be informed that the Rock Climbing Club's venue was currently managed by the Swimming Club, and Han Yansheng's personal authorization was required for its re-establishment.
Jian Dan sought out Han Yansheng at the swimming pool, but he curtly dismissed her, claiming he had class and that the area was restricted. Undeterred, she confronted him again before their elective class started. After returning a book he had borrowed from her, Han Yansheng flatly refused to sign the authorization form. He argued that as the venue's manager, he had the right to decide who used it, and she was "not on his list."
Jian Dan accused him of letting a personal vendetta interfere with his duties, but he was unmoved. As class began, he walked away from her. After class, Jian Dan persisted one last time, and Han Yansheng finally took the form from her. Meanwhile, Han Yansheng's friends, including Shi, were meticulously preparing for the return of Gu Entong, who had been an exchange student. Gu Entong arrived and was warmly welcomed, with everyone remarking on her timeless beauty.
She thanked Shi for the elaborate preparations. Shi presented her with a personalized "Ocean University Life Guide," detailing recent campus changes and her favorite foods, which Gu Entong greatly appreciated. She inquired about Yuan Sen's absence, and her friends vaguely replied that he "stepped out for something." When Gu Entong asked how everyone had been, one friend began to mention "someone pretty interesting" they had met, but Han Yansheng quickly cut in, describing Jian Dan as "someone totally irrelevant."
