With the help of her friends, Jian Dan arranged to meet Han Yansheng at the swimming pool, hoping to explain everything in person. However, Han Yansheng gave her no such chance. He coldly stated that he did not want to hear her out, adding that she now knew the kind of person he was, and then declared that they should break up.
When Jian Dan asked him to repeat it, he simply said she had heard him clearly before turning and walking away. Heartbroken, Jian Dan crouched on the ground, crying. Mi Fen wanted to intervene, but Jiang Zhishan advised that relationships are between two people and they should give Han Yansheng and Jian Dan some space to resolve things themselves. That evening, Han Yansheng sat alone on the sports field, drinking beer.
Jiang Zhishan joined him, bringing more alcohol, saying she was worried he might not have enough and wanted to keep him company. She noted that he was in a bad mood and suggested they drink and talk, or at least just drink, to drown his sorrows. She tried to encourage him by saying that a breakup was not the end of the world.
Jiang Zhishan hoped that once he was drunk, he would reveal why he had broken up with Jian Dan. However, Han Yansheng remained completely silent, even after drinking a lot. Realizing it was pointless to question him, Jiang Zhishan decided to go check on Jian Dan instead. Meanwhile, Gu Entong passed by and saw Han Yansheng heavily intoxicated.
She asked if he could hear her and then carefully helped him up, guiding him back to the boys' dorm to hand him over to Shi. Jian Dan, who had unknowingly wandered near the dorms, saw Gu Entong assisting a dazed Han Yansheng and immediately turned and ran. Han Yansheng then met Monkey, informing him that he was going to Xiuchuan City for math competition training and would be away for a while.
He told Monkey that he had left the Swimming Club's stamp in the drawer and entrusted the club's responsibility to him. Monkey asked about Jian Dan, but Han Yansheng dismissed the question, saying there was no need for Monkey to see him off. Monkey immediately called Jian Dan, telling her that Han Yansheng had left for the training and had probably just gotten on the bus. Jian Dan felt helpless and unsure how to channel her frustration.

Later, during a meal, Jian Dan and her friends overheard some girls at a nearby table gossiping. They claimed that the rumors on the school forum were true, that Han Yansheng had dumped Jian Dan, and that they never thought the couple was a good match.
Enraged, Jiang Zhishan and Mi Fen angrily told them off, accusing them of spreading rumors. Disturbed by the comments, Jian Dan lost her appetite and decided to leave, telling her friends to continue eating without her. Jiang Zhishan then arranged for Jian Dan's food to be packed up. When Jian Dan fell ill, complaining of a headache, Jiang Zhishan checked on her and realized she was not running a fever but was simply exhausted from overtraining.
Jian Dan had no appetite, prompting Jiang Zhishan to call Han Yansheng despite Jian Dan's protests. Jiang Zhishan informed him that Jian Dan was sick and refusing to eat, asking if he wanted to speak to her. Han Yansheng coldly replied that her condition was none of his concern and that he was busy, then abruptly hung up. Shortly after, Han Yansheng called the Nanshan Restaurant to place an order.
Later, Jian Dan received a call announcing she had "won" a free bowl of special porridge from Nanshan Restaurant, which was already being delivered. She suspected it was Han Yansheng's subtle way of showing care, and her mood lifted slightly. After eating, she went to the beach, buried the necklace Han Yansheng had given her in the sand, and silently bid farewell to their relationship.
Suddenly, Shi called Jian Dan, telling her to come to the cafe immediately because he had repaired the voice recorder and it was important. Jian Dan rushed over. Shi had her listen to the recording, which contained her own voice saying, "Han Yansheng's condition is getting worse. It might never get better. I feel more lost and helpless than ever. Maybe I should give up. I should tell him I don't love him and break up with him."
Jian Dan immediately recognized her voice but realized the recording had been cleverly edited. Shi confirmed that although the edits were subtle, professional software could identify it as not the original, but he could not recover the full original recording. Jian Dan then understood why Han Yansheng had been so angry and revealed that she had the original recording on her computer, which she promptly sent to him.
After listening to the original recording, Han Yansheng realized he had misunderstood Jian Dan. However, still lacking confidence in his own physical condition and not wanting to burden her, he decided not to call her to reconcile. Jian Dan anxiously waited for his call, constantly checking her phone. She called him several times, but he remained unreachable.
She also asked Shi to inquire if Han Yansheng had read her email with the original recording, to which Han Yansheng replied with a brief text message confirming he had read it. Jian Dan was disheartened, lamenting that she thought he would stop ignoring her after hearing the recording. Shi tried to comfort her, suggesting she wait for Han Yansheng to return and speak to him face-to-face, but Jian Dan felt it was futile.
Later, while Jiang Zhishan was in the Swimming Club office, she received a call from Monkey, who was frantically searching for the club stamp in the dorm. Monkey mentioned Han Yansheng had said it was in a drawer before he left, but he couldn't find it. Jiang Zhishan suggested checking the office drawer. Searching the drawer, she found the stamp and also discovered Han Yansheng's medical report, a "HADS Psychological Assessment Form."
Shocked by what she read, Jiang Zhishan immediately called Jian Dan, urging her to come to the office. Upon seeing the medical report, Jian Dan finally understood the true reason for Han Yansheng's recent melancholy. She deeply regretted her carelessness in not noticing his struggles and the fact that he had undergone medical examinations secretly. Overwhelmed with regret, Jian Dan rushed back to the beach, desperately searching for the necklace she had buried earlier.
Despite her frantic efforts, she couldn't find it. Just as she was overcome with despair, a small girl playing nearby approached her, holding the necklace, and asked if she was looking for it. Jian Dan gratefully took it, tears welling up in her eyes, as the girl advised her not to carelessly discard things, no matter how sad she might be. Filled with determination, Jian Dan went to Jiang Zhishan's kitchen and prepared many delicious dishes.
She then took a bus to the school where Han Yansheng was undergoing training. Unable to get past the guard, who cited school rules against unauthorized entry even for a surprise birthday visit, Jian Dan found a way to sneak into the building. She located the classroom where Han Yansheng was taking an exam. Stepping onto a stool, she drew a mathematical summation symbol on the glass window. The invigilator noticed her, and she quickly fled.
Han Yansheng, seeing the symbol, instantly recognized it as Jian Dan's work. He hastily completed his exam and rushed out to find her. Hearing her call his name from behind him, Han Yansheng turned, and their eyes met.
