This left customers displeased and Jian Dan and Mi Fen feeling wronged, as they had carefully inspected all goods. The commotion attracted school administrators, and the discipline dean severely reprimanded them, confiscating their remaining stock.
As the two felt dejected, Han Yansheng approached them, offering a way to earn the money they needed. Hopeful, Jian Dan and Mi Fen followed Han Yansheng to the swimming pool, where he tasked them with cleaning the entire facility within a set timeframe for the 800 yuan reward. Exhausted but determined, they worked diligently and finally received the payment from Han Yansheng. Excitedly, they proceeded to decorate the chosen venue, creating a romantic and beautiful setting for the confession.
With the preparations almost complete, Mi Fen left to change her clothes. As Jian Dan put the finishing touches on the decorations, Han Yansheng arrived. Seeing the stunning setup, he mistakenly believed it was prepared for him, his mood lifting significantly. He casually picked up a remote control from a table and pressed a button. Jian Dan and Mi Fen frantically tried to stop it, but it was too late. A large banner displaying a photo of Mi Fen and Yuan Sen unfurled. Just then, Yuan Sen arrived. Mi Fen, deciding to proceed with her confession regardless, expressed her deep feelings for Yuan Sen. Despite their differences outside of cosplay, she truly, deeply liked him and asked if he would be her boyfriend. Yuan Sen, beaming with a smile, was about to answer when he spotted someone secretly filming them. Mi Fen and Yuan Sen immediately gave chase to the perpetrator, Huo Zuyang. Han Yansheng, realizing the entire setup was a misunderstanding and not for him, felt a pang of disappointment, but also guilt for accidentally disrupting his friend’s special moment.
Meanwhile, Gu Entong, upon learning that the confession was not directed at Han Yansheng, felt a wave of relief and happiness. Back at the dorm, Mi Fen was heartbroken, lamenting that her long-prepared confession had been ruined by the hidden camera. Jian Dan comforted her, urging her not to lose hope. The video of the disrupted confession was uploaded online, exposing Yuan Sen as Prince Luo Shui.
The online community harshly condemned Mi Fen, deeming her unworthy of Prince Luo Shui and telling her to know her place. Mi Fen became even more despondent after reading the comments. To shield Mi Fen from further harm, Yuan Sen posted a public message on social media. He openly confirmed his true identity as Yuan Sen, an art student at Ocean University, explaining that he had worn a mask to keep his private life out of the spotlight.
He stated that he would no longer hide behind it. He also clarified that the girl in the video was not his girlfriend because he had not yet successfully confessed to her. He then addressed Mi Fen directly, referring to her as "Lucky Koi Girl," and asked her to come downstairs to her dorm, where he would be waiting for her reply. Jian Dan excitedly urged Mi Fen to go.
Mi Fen rushed downstairs to find Yuan Sen waiting with a bouquet of roses. He formally expressed his feelings and asked if she would be his girlfriend. Overjoyed, Mi Fen excitedly accepted, embracing him tightly. Later, while everyone was together, they discussed the confession. Someone joked about a "Sweet Confession Day" promotion that was now available, inspired by Mi Fen's event, noting that Han Yansheng wouldn't have had to spend 800 yuan if it had launched earlier.
Han Yansheng offered to return the 800 yuan to Yuan Sen, but Yuan Sen declined, calling it a gift. Later, Mi Fen and Yuan Sen enjoyed fried chicken together, with Mi Fen expressing that Yuan Sen liked her "cute and chubby." Jian Dan, whose pants were stained with ketchup from eating fried chicken, was summoned by Han Yansheng to his office for a favor. He offered her clothes meant for a photo shoot to change into, mentioning that he was headed to the Swimming Club.
In his office, Han Yansheng then showed Jian Dan the "love formula" flyer, reading rules about how people pay extra attention to their appearance around someone they like. He then offered her an extra box of fried chicken, saying he’d throw it out if she didn’t take it, which she did to avoid waste. He continued reading from the flyer, highlighting the most important rule: "Someone who truly likes you will always put you before themselves."
Jian Dan asked to pack the leftovers for Mi Fen. Han Yansheng also returned Jian Dan’s phone, which she had left in his office. Gu Entong proposed hosting a New Year's party, and Han Yansheng suggested inviting Mi Fen and Jian Dan, to which Gu Entong, despite her displeasure, agreed. The annual city swimming competition opened for registration. Han Yansheng, however, refused to participate, still affected by a past traumatic incident involving his friend, Nan Yuan.
Gu Entong explained that during that incident, despite strong winds and choppy waves, Han Yansheng insisted on entering the water and nearly drowned, with Gu Entong saving him. Since then, he developed a deep psychological trauma regarding water. Gu Entong looked pensive. Jian Dan later saw Gu Entong and Shi shopping together, and felt pity for Han Yansheng. She found him in tears, only to discover he had just eaten a spicy mustard pastry.
He firmly stated that he and Gu Entong were not in a romantic relationship. Gu Entong sought out Jian Dan, first inviting her to the New Year's party, then shared her concerns about Han Yansheng's refusal to swim. She asked Jian Dan to persuade him, acknowledging Jian Dan’s psychology background and their good relationship. Jian Dan questioned why Gu Entong, who claimed to be so special to Han Yansheng, couldn't convince him herself.
Gu Entong admitted she had tried everything to no avail. Jian Dan confessed she didn't know how to persuade him either. Gu Entong then handed her a USB drive, containing a compilation of Han Yansheng's past swimming victories, hoping it would reignite his passion. Jian Dan went to see Han Yansheng, finding him dressed in a swimsuit, seemingly about to enter the water. However, he ultimately failed to do so, angrily throwing his goggles to the ground.
After he left, Jian Dan picked them up. Han Yansheng had secretly commissioned a silver necklace, intending to confess to Jian Dan on New Year's Day. At the lively New Year's party, they played a game involving task cards. Mi Fen and Yuan Sen completed a "princess-carry and five squats" challenge, which others jokingly called "couple missions." Another person performed a girl group dance. When it was Jian Dan's turn, her card asked if she had had her first kiss.
Someone joked if it was the "upside-down kiss" with Han Yansheng, making Jian Dan uncomfortable. Han Yansheng's card instructed him to kiss the person to his left or right, and he explicitly chose Jian Dan, creating a stir among the guests. However, he led Jian Dan outside, stating he wouldn't kiss her "here." Outside, Han Yansheng expressed that he had something he had wanted to tell her for a long time.
Jian Dan, caught off guard, wondered if he was about to kiss her and felt unprepared. Han Yansheng presented her with the silver necklace as a New Year's gift. However, at that moment, a video of Gu Entong was displayed on a screen. Jian Dan then reciprocated by giving him a new pair of goggles, reminding him that his old ones had broken by the pool.
She sincerely hoped that he would overcome the reasons that led him to abandon swimming and return to the pool to fulfill his dreams. Han Yansheng's expression instantly darkened. He sternly rebuked her, demanding to know who she thought she was to discuss his dreams and to stay out of his business. He then turned and walked away without looking back, leaving Jian Dan calling his name, but he told her to stop following him.
